Bar Azita in North Hertfordshire

Great food lovely romantic atmosphere and friendly staff with great service. However, my only criticism is the service charge is a bit harsh on the bill.

First time . Friday evening (pre theatre) table for 4 (pre-booked). Great chice of all things Tapas and many other dishes. Staff are friendly, polite, knowledgable and professional. Varied selection of food and drinks. Food was well prepared, presented and was delicious. Well Done! Now we have found it , we will be back

Great little place for tapas, so much choice and the quality is fantastic. We have also had the full main meal version of some of the Tapas dishes and they are equally aa delicious - the sea bass is 👌. The staff are really friendly too. Oh, and make sure you check out the Belgian Chocolate Fondue for dessert, it is AMAZING!

We came here with great expectations, primarily based on previous reviews. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark (except the Serrano ham croquettes which were very tasty). Can't fault the service, the team was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Personally, I was slightly put off by the mix of different cuisines on the menu (Greek, Persian & Spanish), I'd just focus on one and execute that really well. The food was ok, maybe we've been spoilt by our previous tapas experiences (in Spain, but also in the UK), it was just not giving us the wow effect we were hoping for. The cocktails (old fashioned, espresso martini) were good though so we might be coming back for a couple of drinks in the future.

Very friendly staff and the food was sublime, a great selection of tapas items! With an extensive range of drink options. Highly recommended, will be back again!

We had a lovely early evening meal at Bar Azita tonight. Great choice of dishes; we chose the vegetarian sharing platter plus some prawn and chicken dishes between 4 of us. Plenty to go around and even my 80 year old Dad tried and enjoyed everything, especially the churros. Attentive, friendly service and tasty food. A lovely evening.

Really good but had to wait ages for dessert.

I just love the food here and it's great value. We popped in for lunch last week and ordered snack, just huge! delicious too and the staff are always so friendly. Plenty of choice if you are a vegetarian the same as me 😊

Came here today, after reading up on this place online and it did not disappoint, as well as exceeded expectations! Tapas portions where more than reasonably sized/ great quality and taste. The atmosphere was really relaxed and we felt the waiters/waitresses were very attentive and patient. Had an excellent time and will be back again. Thank you ♡

Came here for my partner’s birthday and it did not disappoint. We had a mixture of cold and hot tapas along with a meaty main and genuinely loved every dish! Do well made and good size portion (we were stuffed) even the pitta bread was so tasty. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion and sat upstairs for good vibes!

It was a good experience overall but the food could have been better. The portion size is less than expected also. Service was good though atmosphere was okay felt a bit cramped at times.

Went for dinner here recently. The restaurant is clean and looks good. Atmosphere is nice and tables well spaced. Staff were welcoming and accomodating, especially as we hadn't booked a table. Unfortunately it went seriously even dangerously wrong with the food... When ordering tapas we let the server know that I have an allergy. They provided their allery menu, showing which dishes are safe for various allergies (great!). So we ordered appropriately and repeated the allergy. When our food came out it looked good BUT we ourselves spotted that half the dishes had been covered in what Im allergic to. Fortunately I ate very little before we realised. This is really careless and potentially dangerous for allergy sufferers, as well as causing problems for those with intolerances / enforced dietary restrictions. Fortunately my allergy doesn't cause anaphylaxis, so it wasn't life threatening in this case, but mistakes like this could have serious implications. They replaced the dishes/plate/cutlery and were apologetic, but honestly it was obvious that they didn't grasp how serious this sort of thing could be for others. There was no offer of a discount or a refund on our bill; not that I expect things for free, but maybe for a couple of the affected dishes as a gesture. I had to travel home via train afterwards whilst having an allergic reaction and it took about 24 hours to recover fully. Not fun. So I won't be returning here ever again because I just can't risk this happening. And obviously I cannot recommend to anyone with any allergies or dietary requirements. If you go here and any of your party have any such concerns, be seriously careful. This really isn't good enough in 2023.

Brilliant! Really great tapas, loads of veggie options, and a lovely buzzy atmosphere. Feels like being on holiday. My current favourite restaurant in Hitchin. Love it.

A charming bar with a wide and varied menu of Mediterranean food and drinks. I shared platters with my family and the food was very good, I would like to return to see what their non sharing options are like. Also anywhere that serves Baklava gets a thumbs up in my eyes. Service was quick and efficient, and they brought the bill quickly at the end of the meal - no complaints. The setting of the bar is exquisite, however due to the high ceilings I struggled to hear anyone who wasn't sitting directly next or across from me, and my family struggled to hear each other. I would say go check it out! I recommend the swordfish on the Sea platter, and the Baklava!

Cocktails were really good - food however, definitely wouldn’t return every thing was extremely dry, I mean extremely dry and stale. They need to address the quality of the food they serve

Five stars for service and friendliness. The one thing I would is the patatas bravas. They would be massively improved by deep frying as is done in Spain.

If you like a kind of crossover persian-mediteranean kitchen, this is the place to visit! A lot meals are served as tapas or mean course, perfectly for sharing with a group. Very friendly and quick service.

Four of us came here Saturday night for dinner. Nice place with good atmosphere and very attentive and friendly staff. We had a mixture of tapas dishes to start and as our mains, all cooked perfectly and very tasty. We had three jugs of sangria (best I've ever had), two cocktails and shared a couple of desserts, all of which came to just over £175 including service charge!! Fantastic value for money. When next in the area we'll definitely go back.

Must try the pork albondigas and croquettes! Great place to go with friends and share lots of small dishes, would recommend about 3-4 dishes per person.

Very sad to be giving such a low score.. we have been so excited to try this restaurant for months now and finally managed to get a reservation and try it. Our expectations were really high. The cocktails were extraordinary and delicious. Service was excellent. The starters were quite nice, but the main course of a sea food platter was extremely disappointing. Expected it to be a grilled Mediterranean style, instead every single item on the platter was battered and deep fried. Dry and rubbery, very heavy and rich. It really was not nice. Won’t be rushing back.. except for the cocktails!

The hospitality done it for me. Just grateful the staff were in high spirits having to work new years eve. They were so friendly and accommodating.

Delightful restaurant, and having not been since it was Bar Meze, I had no idea of what to expect. Food was delicious, and the service excellent (had a minor issue with a non-vegan dessert, having ordered thr vegan option, but it was sorted quickly and efficiently). Also, the Paloma cocktail is amazing!

The food was incredible, everything was fresh, the portions were great, service was excellent and professional and the prices were normal, you can eat fresh and tasty food without paying a fortune. Loved it will definitely go back!

It’s was great experience for our wedding anniversary. We didn’t book in advance but they Quickly found us a table, the food was quick and the waiter was lovely and very helpful. The food was also very generous - They even packaged what we could not finish - at our request - for us!

Azota has all sorts of Mediterranean food. Fruits Spanish tapas to great plates. All is fabulous, but I recommend to take some tapas as starter and the a large plate. The pimientos de padrón ( Padrón peppers) and the croquetas are the best

Big shout out to the waiter during our visit for lunch in Hitching branch today There was a young lady with serious physical disabilities having lunch at the next table, on her own It appeared she was well known in the restaurant - but I was really impressed by the way he treated her - ensuring that she could reach her food, checking on her all the time and handing her pitta bread to dip in her chosen dishes He even wiped her mouth as necessary all the time attending to the needs of all the other diners She was lovely and engaging too A great lunchtime experience!

I ate here with my colleagues and such a nice staff and excellent service. If you are new to Hitchen like me eat here you will not regret it. Have fun guys.

The food is amazing! Great atmosphere. The staff are supremely nice and accommodating. Wife and I shared the Chicken Shishlik...for the second time in a week. Yes, its that good. This is a "must go" restaurant. Very highly recommend.

We celebrated NYE 2021 at Bar Azita and it was fab. The staff made the whole evening so enjoyable. They were so attentive and helpful. We were greeted with a special bespoke cocktail upon arrival which was delicious, the food was gorgeous as always and the atmosphere was buzzing. I loved that we got a seat and table for the whole night and managed to get in even last minute which was a great result.

Good food, great value in a nice little restaurant. Good midweek lunch deals. Telephone reservations not taken.

Delicious lunch menu - we had the platter for 2 to share - food was gorgeous and overall the meal was great value. Service very attentive..would highly recommend - we were there on Monday with little else in Hitchin open. Would definitely choose this over other places in future.

Loved it! Came here for a lunch date and enjoyed the whole experience. Attentive and helpful waiter and delicious selection of tapas. Food was served promptly which always help if you have to get back to work. Will definitely be back and will bring friends!

Already a fan of the Harpenden Bar Azita, we happened across this little gem in Hitchin. Same great food, friendly and helpful service. Very busy so book at the weekend. We got lucky and they kindly squeezed us in but saw quite a few turned away.

We really enjoyed our experience. The food is great, the staff are very helpful and the building around for many years. It's a good restaurant to visit.

Excellent food all so tasty and the lunch meal deal was excellent value too. Affagato was also the best I have had especially with shot of rum. The service was fantastic and both staff members were very friendly and welcoming. One of the best lunches I have had for a long particularly the aubergine cold tapas dish so delicious. Absolutely fantastic from the moment we walked in the door, we was running behind on our booking called the restaurant to tell them and they called back to confirm that we was still coming 5 star for acknowledgement. As for the food wow words cant describe how good the food is please go try this place out... You won't be disappointed

Absolutely delicious meal. Ordered a vegetarian platter to share with a friend, which was a good price and perfect amount for both of us. Plus, these were the best chips I’ve ever eaten! Can’t remember its name, but the rhubarb-ish cocktail was divine. Super sweet baklava for dessert was beautiful, too. Highly recommend: good prices, good food, good drinks with helpful and friendly staff.
