Bann Thai Restaurant in North Norfolk

Absolutely first class - great service, a lovely place, but it is all about the food - we have eaten asian food many times, and to me this was simply the best we've ever had - piping hot, very fresh and so, so tasty - we had multiple dishes so that we could mix and match - and we ate almost all of it - truly delicious.-

Visited whilst we were staying nearby in Thorpe Market for an evening meal. The food was delicious and full of flavour and the staff were polite and friendly.

If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars I would! We found this place from previous Trip Advisor reviews during our stay in Cromer and were not disappointed. Amazing food (the spare ribs and chicken satay in the mixed starter were amazing, and the beef panang curry was out of this world!) and the staff were really attentive and friendly. Would recommend this to others!

There is a small seating and takeaway area as you go in and the restaurant is off to the right. It is deceptive in size, stretching a long way back and consisting of three rooms, the latter of which is split level. The menu is extensive, with a good selection of starters and the mains on the whole, are the same but with different meat or fish as the core ingredients. We had the mixed starters for two, which consists of:- Chicken Satay, Spring Rolls, Na Moo,Spare Ribs and Fish Cakes. It was beautifully presented on a platter with peanut and sweet chilli dipping sauces. It was delightful. My wife had Masaman Beef with Coconut Rice for mains and I had the Chicken Jungle Curry with Coconut Rice. Once again, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious though I expected the Jungle Curry to be hotter, (not temperature wise but chilli heat wise.) Service was impeccable throughout. A superb restaurant meal at a very reasonable price.

Large variety of choice, especially for vegans and vegetarians. Food was delicious and authentic with friendly and personal service. Would highly recommend.

On holiday in Cromer and decided to visit Bann Thai for a takeaway. Not disappointed, superb food and service. It only took 10-15 minutes for our starters and main course to be ready. Both the green Thai curry and Pangyang curry were excellent. The front of house and back of house staff were friendly and provided great service.

If you are staying in or near Cromer try the Thai food from here. I have eaten a lot of Thai food and this is possibly the best I have tried

Ordered the day before the food was ready on time at a very busy time: 6.30pm on a Saturday evening. The food was absolutely delicious. This is the best Thai take away I've had

I never really leave reviews unless I need to. But I feel like this place really deserves a good review! Customer service is brilliant! I spoke with Kim on the phone and ordered our food. Went to collect 15 mins later. Kim was incredibly welcoming, really nice bloke. But most importantly the food! WOW! The food was hot, tasty, exactly what we were looking for! Will 100% visit again next time we are in Sheringham. Thanks Kim and Belle!

Myself and my family were staying at a local caravan park and we decided to have a takeout. My daughter had noticed a really nice looking Thai restaurant in Cromer, Bann Thai.The staff were absolutely lovely and the food was amazing! It’s so fresh and well cooked, full of flavour. You will not be disappointed.

Had a lovely takeaway for my birthday meal last night. My kids always love the sweet and sour chicken! They even tried the tempura prawns this time and absolutely loved them as did me and my partner. Thank you for always delivering on amazing food when I don't want to cook! See you next time for more delicious food.

Pre-pandemic I had eaten in the restaurant half a dozen or so times, and had the occasional takeaway. During the last year of lockdown myself and my husband have enjoyed a weekly takeaway from the Bann Thai, COVID-19 allowing, which has been most weeks! It has been one of our pleasures during a pretty miserable time! The quality and freshness of the food has been exceptional every time! The flavours are authentic, the sauces are zingy and light, with tender meat or seafood pieces in nice big chunks, and plenty of fresh vegetables. The coconut rice is to die for, and generous enough to share one portion between two. Every dish we have tried has been amazing! They went out of their way to accommodate my daughter who is coeliac. I simply asked them to come up with something (anything!) that did not contain gluten and the chicken dish was delicious according to my daughter, who was very happy. As an added bonus, whilst placing our order this week I happened to mention it was my birthday, and was delighted to receive an unexpected gift of a little bottle of fizz along with our meal! This restaurant is fully deserving of its high rating, they literally never have an “off day”. Thank you Kim and family, and your lovely staff for your excellent service and food!

We went for a takeaway from without doubt the best Thai in the Cromer/Sheringham area and we were not disappointed. The prawn tempura was crispy as it should be and our red chicken curry was as fabulous as always as was my crispy chilli beef. As regular users especially in recent times I found the negative review very strange not least it refers to a night when the takeaway is closed.

Visited for a collection last week and cannot believe the poor quality.The red Thai chicken had a chemical taste to it, the tempura prawns were soggy with fat. The Pandan Duck curry had pieces of duck which were more like gristle. This is a very poor quality restaurant that I won't use again, and I recommend you don't either!

With lockdown it’s hard to make a birthday special. We treated my mother to a takeaway from here and we are so glad we did! Such a difference to have restaurant food rather than another take away. Even my grandmother loved it and she is very hard to please. Brilliant sized portions and everything was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait until we can dine in!

Became a Bann Thai fan last summer. I must get a takeaway from here at least every month (at one point twice in one weekend). I always have the holy trinity: Tofu Thai Green, Tofu Panang, and Mock Duck with cashews. (with coconut rice)The flavour is amazing, and it's always fresh and delicious. If you want a delicious vegan takeaway, give it a go, Kim and the team are fab and the food is awesome.

Just had our first takeaway meal from Bann Thai and it was absolutely delicious. Great treat for Valentines and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a meal that’s a bit more special than your average takeaway. Portion size was good and lots of meat in every dish. Prices are slightly higher than your usual takeaway but it was worth every penny.

Very happy with the service and the food. They were happy to slightly adapt a dish for my partner, and let us enjoy our meal without rushing through the courses. We have travelled in Thailand and love Thai cuisine, this was some of the best we have had in the UK, particularly reccomend the hot and sour soup.

We were visiting Cromer for a long weekend and enjoyed an extremely tasty meal on Saturday night here. Staff were very helpful and polite. The food was freshly cooked and tasted fantastic. Would highly recommended the Beef Massaman- melt in the mouth to say the least!

We couldn't get a table but our take away was amazing, and the staff we dealt with were really nice. I'd book in advance next time as the restaurant looked lovely.

We managed to get a table for an evening meal while staying in Cromer and having visited several years ago and had really enjoyed it, we were looking forward to returning. This time was even better - new owners, extensive menu, everything so tasty and an option of being able to make your dishes milder or stronger if you desire. The food was had was fabulous, the atmosphere great and prices very reasonable. It is no wonder this place seems busy - it is really popular and so worth a visit

Enjoyed a very tasty combination of spring rolls, prawn green curry, Bangkok Chicken & Thai pad noodles. Very tasty and prepared to promised timeline. One of the best takeaways we have had in a long time. Recommended.

Dishes on the main menu can be ordered as Takeaway. The quality of the food was really good; well packed and wrapped, and ready promptly at the time agreed. Friendly and efficient process of ordering and collecting. Cannot fault things here - it's very good, and good value for money for a decent takeaway..

A lovely Thai option to have on a visit to Cromer, with a huge selection of dishes & friendly, attentive staff. I would certainly recommend this restaurant if you like Thai food in a quirky building. We had the mixed starters followed by chicken & beef main courses, all of which were well presented & very tasty - hope to return soon when we are next in the area.

We were staying in the area and the owner of our lodge recommended Bann Thai. We ordered food to take away and it was actually a highlight of our whole holiday! The food was so fresh tasting and nicely cooked. We had chicken satay, coconut rice, plaa lui suan and green prawn curry. The prawns were fresh and didn't have that horrible gelatinous texture that a lot of places have. My plaa lui suan was a generous portion of fresh battered fish bites with a lovely zingy salad. The chicken satay was delicious, chicken cooked well and simply with a lovely delicate charring. And what can I say about the coconut rice. Wow. I thought it would maybe have a slight aftertaste of coconut but be pretty boring and just to bulk out the meal. I am not a rice lover! But this rice was so creamy and unctuous I couldn't stop eating it. Even our fussy 20 month year old loved trying a bit of everything (except the curry!) We don't live near by but it's worth going out of our way for. A reason in itself to visit Cromer!

We booked this Thai restaurant after hearing Alot of good things from friends. On arrival there was a bit of confusion with our booking but was soon rectified. Quite a busy restaurant.. with sit down customers and takeaway customers.. A nice atmosphere inside.We had a mixed starter which was very tasty. I then had a pad Thai.. I asked for chillis which unfortunately it didn’t arrive with and when I spoke with a waiter I was given a small what looked like chilli dust.. a new one on me?! My next dish was a Green curry which was very nice. My partner had a Duck Penang and she says it’s the best she’s ever had! All in all a decent night a nice meal.

We’ve just come back from a week in Cromer and we had takeaway from here twice and I wish we had been more! As a vegetarian there were 12 main menu options. My husband is a meat eater and both of us really enjoyed our food. Tasty food with good portions - winner winner!!

This was the second time i have been this time it was for a takeout. The food was fantastic the flavours exquisite and the portions were ideal. Service was great from taking my order over the phone to being presented the ordered item. They were also the first place I have been to that has spelt my surname correctly. Well done Bann Thai.

Ate here on September 16th. Restaurant was nicely done out and had atmosphere despite covid situation. Made to feel safe, temperature check, hand sanitiser etc. We shared the mixed starter, which was all excellent. Our mains were also delicious - I had beef pad Thai noodles. Visited here for a meal recently following reading the reviews so booked ahead. All staff were really friendly, good covid precautions in place and most of all the food was fantastic. Great portion sizes and good prices. Would definitely recommend and visit again if back in Cromer.

Such a lovely food, very authentic taste with a good atmosphere. There are a lot of choices of the food. We’ve ordered tons of starters. All of dishes are amazing! Especially, the chicken satay and crispy beef! It has a good portion of foods which allow you to try many of dishes. Their staffs are friendly and helpful.

Here is the best Thai restaurant that I have tried in UK. Because I am Thai, a taste is almost same as the authentic one in Thailand. All the staff is very excellence. They are good service, friendly and hospitable. I really recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!

Enjoyed a delicious meal here tonight. We had the mixed starter for two which was delicious, followed by the sweet and sour chicken (which was the best I have ever tasted) and the pork Penang and sticky rice. All so fresh and full of flavour. The restaurant is family owned and they obviously take pride in it. We were warmly welcomed and the “tea boy” was very attentive along with the young lad who both looked after us well. Thank you!

The telephone was out of order last night so we had a short wait of around 15 minutes. Excellent food , very tasty.

We had the Ribs and spring rolls this evening and they were delicious. Not to mention the Jungle Curry and Thai Green for mains. The staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable when ordering. The Bann Thai has definitely taken COVID seriously and I felt very safe. Watching the staff wiping down all the furniture after each guest was a credit to them.

We started with deep fried prawns & vegs with a hot sweet chilli sauce. We were disappointed to find the waste sack had been left in the prawns before cooking. In our opinion, these should have been removed.Second course was Thai Green Chicken Curry & Chicken, Mushroom, Spring Onions with Oyster Sauce. I found the Thai Green Chicken very bland & watery & Mike found his sauce very thin too. It was okay but nothing special. The staff by 5he wY were very attentive. Would We visit again - no not special enough.

You don’t have to fly east to Thailand! It’s here! East coast, Norfolk. King prawn red curry, Belle’s seafood yellow curry; AMAZING flavours. One of the best meals I have ever had. Seriously, the best Thai food I’ve ever had. The green chicken curry was so full of flavour, I couldn’t stop eating even well I was full. The chicken was succulent but not slimy which I hate in lesser quality thai cooking and layered in rich spice flavours. The red curry my husband had was also amazing and he constantly raved about whilst eating. The starters were delicious too and the ambience was great even in a pandemic - our temperature was taken as we entered. But the colourful shirts of the welcoming staff and their friendly manner made it feel fun and relaxed. This is a must-come to in Cromer and will make your holiday.

Some of the best Thai I've had. The dishes I had were all well seasoned and flavourful. It's relatively cheap and the atmosphere is cozy.

We were recommended by a friend to try this restaurant on a visit to Cromer. Very happy they did, had some great food, plenty of it with good pricing and staff were friendly and enjoyed a bit of banter. All in al a very good experience and would recommend.

Poor service is an understatement... I booked a table for two, weeks in advance on Facebook to which Kim responded confirming the table. We arrived to no table booking stating that they were fully booked, despite having a booking. As they still wanted a sale, we were offered a space in the “courtyard”. After being led through an alley way of industrial bins we arrived at a pile of waste furniture which resembled a recycling centre. Our seats were nicely taken from the pile of rubbish and placed at a broken table next to the owners dog (I strongly regret not taking any pictures). Due to the overpowering stench of bins we declined the offer and were faced with an unhelpful manager who was unwilling to offer any solution. We were even declined a take away meal without a 2 hour wait. Such a shame as the menu looked lovely and we were looking forward to it.

Came last week. Lovely quirky setting fully geared up for the usual Covid rules. Simply amazing food, possibly the best Thai I have experienced. We kept it simple - Thai fishcakes to start and then the Red Beef Curry with sticky rice. LUSH LUSH LUSH !!!A must visit when in Cromer for sure.

Visted last weekend following a browse of trip advisor. Temp check carried out on arrival and all front of house are mask/visored up. Felt really safe and they have done the best possible.Chicken Penang was very very good, definitely fresh chicken breast and well cooked, coconut rice and pad thai were also very good.I ordered duck cooked with chilli but I probably should of read the menu, I was expecting sliced duck breast (my fault) The duck was in its skin, and a little fatty so to speak and not for me. Just an observation if anyone else has a love of sliced duck.Whilst the plates arrived scorching hot, I would of liked to of seen a plate warmer on the table to keep things warm. All in all we had a pleasant meal, served by friendly, well drilled staff.

It was reassuring when we arrived for our pre-booked meal that all four of us had our temperatures taken and hands squirted with hand sanitiser. The food was of excellent quality and the service good. The bonus on top of everything was the £40 taken off the bill under the government Eat Out Scheme. However will return when prices are the full price as the large portions make it excellent value for money.

Simply delicious Thai food!We came to Cromer a couple of years ago, and were pleased to see the Thai restaurant we enjoyed last time is still here and going strong despite Covid-19.The food is wonderful, the staff are friendly and attentive. We had our temperature taken on arrival and hand sanitiser provided before entering the restaurant. They also remove all table ware and cleaned the tables & chairs between sittings. This was our first meal out in the UK for a few months and it didn’t disappoint.All the dishes we had were really fresh, flavoursome and filling. Our kids ate comfortably here too, we always get sticky rice & pepper chicken for them. Though they indulge on the starters with satay chicken, spring rolls and the fried prawns.The Thai sweet chilli sauce has a nice kick too.Fantastic, will always book a table when we are in Cromer. The sea food was very fresh. We had the salt and pepper squid, king prawn pad Thai and chicken masaman curry. All of it was amazing and the service was fantastic

Went for the set meal one evening whilst visiting Cromer and the Covid procedures and social distancing between tables were good. Ordered the set meal for 4 and was really tasty and loads of food. Rice portion was a little small but apart from that loads of food to choose from. Meal was £99 for 4 I think and fine for value for what you got. Good drinks choice and service was good too.

Restaurant was recommended by the owners of our hotel. It's not much to look at from the outside, but the food was excellent and good value. great service. Would definitely recommend.

I reviewed this place before we went to Cromer so i knew it was a good place to eat.We tried to get in on Saturday night but it was fully booked but managed to get in on the Sunday night.Nice man who welcomed us very friendly also the staff too.Meal was beautifully cooked and a nice bottle of White Rioja.See you again when we visit Cromer.

We were holidaying here and had a takeaway one night from here.All the food was good, and very plentiful, with plenty left over for the next night.Don’t know how the restaurant is, but judging by the takeaway food i’d expect it to be good.worth trying.

We have mixed starter for 2, Tung yam gong, a green curry and a fried noodle. They came hot and super tasty. It must be the best Thai meal we had if the main course was not too sweet.

Have eaten here a few times, pre lock-down, and as soon as restaurants were allowed to offer take-aways, this did! You have to book it the night before, but it was just a nice glimmer of hope, in a dismal time! And prices appear to be the same! Not sure if they can re-open to eat in yet, but let's hope!

We gave Bann Thai a try for a takeaway for the family. It was tasty and enjoyed by all. Their Singapore Rice Noodles was a little disappointing but overall , it was good. We will revisit.

Went with my family for the first time, so glad we visited, will be using this many times. Very efficient Covid checks on arrival, temperature checks and hand sanitizer given. Food was first class and plenty of it, everything was super fresh served on hot plates( hate a cold plate) great little find, first class

We ordered a takeaway this evening . We were so impressed by the quality of our food. Everything tasted so fresh and it was lovely to see so many fresh vegetables in our green curries.We ordered a chicken green curry, a tofu green curry , a Pad Thai with prawns and sticky rice. The Pad Thai was soooo good. Finally it was lovely and hot and the complimentary crackers went down very well.

We spotted this place as we drove home one evening & decided we should give it a try another time.....and boy, are we glad we did!!Genuinely one of (if not, thee) best thai meal we have ever had!!We had a takeaway, as we couldn’t go to the restaurant to eat at this time. And it was absolutely delicious. They cater well for a gluten free diet too. We had some of the usual dishes we like such as masaman beef, crispy beef, pad thai, egg fried rice & spare ribs. And also tried some new dishes like chicken with chilli & pork pad prik khing. They were cooked to perfection. DELICIOUS and still lovely and hot by the time we got home (15/20 min drive) The man that served us was great too. Super friendly and knew the menu inside out. I told him it was our first time having food from them and he said “oh, you’ll be back”And he is absolutely right, we will definitely be going back!! THANK YOU for making our dinner AMAZING for the evening

Me and my partner have come here a few times, we were very happy to see Quorn options on the menu, and even happier that we tried them. It's nice to see a local restaurant catering for vegetarians/pescetarians . Everything in the restaurant is cooked and presented beautifully, and the takeaway is just as favourable. The staff are lovely and accommodating, and very helpful even when the restaurant is full. If I were to be extremely pedantic, I would say that the sweet chilli sauce is slightly too thin for my liking, but I couldn't let something as trivial as this ruin my experience or positive review.I would definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for an authentic Thai meal in a beautiful dining area.

We chanced on this restaurant during a walk round the town. Very welcoming and friendly staff and a lovely feel to the place. Food was excellent and includes Quorn dishes which was a pleasant surprise. After the meal the staff gave some recommendations as to sites to visit and even other restaurants to try while we’re here. Really nice place and we would be regulars if it was local for us. Quite busy for a Thursday so probably worth booking for weekend.

Checked the comments so decided to book. We were not disappointed. Had a lovely meal. Restaurant has a lovely friendly feel and a good cross section of visitors and locals which is a good advertisement. We will be back. Wished we lived closer.

This is the nicest Thai restaurant I have ever been to. The staff are always so friendly & helpful and every meal I have had has been delicious.I can't recommend this restaurant enough to my friends/family, the lunch menu is also such good value for money and also tastes amazing!!They also have yummy Thai crackers!!Would 100% recommend to everyone.

Just amazing! Visited with a friend this evening and it was just brilliant, from the mix shared starter, delicious mains and three brilliant homemade deserts between two as just couldn’t decide. Highly recommend and will be back again soon to try more of the menu.

recommended Bann Thai by a friend, so thought I'd treat my partner to a birthday meal.Ordered via phone at 17:03. Happily travelled 30 minutes, as the food was highly recommended above other Asian takeaways closer to me. Waited almost 10 minutes at the counter/bar (couple in front had been waiting longer). Waited so long I had to ring the landline number to get the attention of who I assume is the owner. My food was brought out whilst the couple in front were trying to pay, at which point the card machine was found to be broken. After 5 minutes of awkwardly unsuccessful attempts to fix the machkne, I was then asked to walk (in the rain) into town to withdraw money from HSBC. Unfortunately I only brought my credit card, which charges for cash withdrawals.Not even a slither of an apology from the owner for the waiting around, inconvenience of being made to withdraw cash and being charged for it. Got home and the sea food dish was missing and replaced by an egg fried rice (I had already ordered a coconut rice).Pretty sorry experience all-in-all. Great food ruined by poor common courtesy.

After a search, deciding to try food at the restaurant although travelling from Norwich:). As a Thai and UEA grad, i enjoyed homey Thai food recipes. I asked them to cook minced pork omlet (thai style) and Tom Yum with my request for traditional taste.No expectation that the taste could be as nice as served in Thailand. If u’ld like to try a homey or true Thai taste, giving it a try once. It ld b nice for having another level of tasty thai dishes. No doubt! A lot of great reviews in here. One of my recommendation.

We called in for a meal on a Tuesday night in February so it was understandably quiet. The food was really of an excellent standard with generous portions. We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price and service was good. We would definitely recommend.

We’ve been eating here for many years and always enjoy the lovely food unfortunately the evening we went the usuall lovely man was not on duty. There were several young members of staff who were blundering along I appreciate we all have to learn however the straw that broke the camels back was when we were given the bill as soon as we’d finished our last mouthful we were in and out of the restaurant within 50mins. When you are spending your hard earned cash and looking forward to an evening out I would have at least liked the opportunity to be offered a coffee. I know restaurants have 2 sittings but surely we should have been given the opportunity to stay a little longer. If your going to leave others in front of house perhaps some training would be advisable.

We were due to take two friends with us for an evening out - unfortunately they had to cancel. A warm welcome, although a change of seating was required to avoid a ‘gale’ coming through a sealed off door.

We have used this restaurant quite a few times but recently found the owners vert rude. Will not use again

Excellent Thai food; great service; cosy atmosphere; very reasonably priced. A gem to find in the gem of Norfolk Cromer.

First time visit to this Thai restaurant. Looks small from outside but goes back a long way. Very nice surrounding seated and drinks and food order taken. Very good service throughout. The starters were good spring rolls, fish cakes and Toong Tong cheeses. The mains of Panang chicken curry, Bangkok chicken, sweet and sour chicken and pork. Cannot fault the flavours or service make sure you pre book to make sure of a table.

Excellent food with really friendly service and atmosphere. The food was excellent very authentic and freshly cooked.very reasonably priced. This restaurant has a really lovely feel about it and there is lots to choose from on the menu. Will definitely be going back.

Bann Thai had been highly recomended to us by several friends so we visited on a Thursday evening. This restaurant has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with really helpful and friendly staff. The Tom Yung soup is to die for. Superb. I chose a house special of yellow fish curry for my main which was lovely. My wife, who isnt a great fan of oriental food, thoroughly enjoyed her meal too.

Went to the bann Thai on news day after fireworks and to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The food was amazing, another level to Thai cooking. The restaurant is small and quirky and the staff are lovely and friendly. Definitely will be back.

Booked this following Cromer Pier fireworks display. Very simple process of booking as you speak to a ‘human’! Simple note made that only a set menu was available on this night.

We stay in Cromer for Christmas and always try to visit Bann Thai. Why? Because the food and service are always first class. Plenty of choice, tried the coconut rice this time, absolutely delicious. Crispy beef yummy. Can't wait to visit again in June. Well done Bann Thai

Came in on sunday with three friends, and got welcomed by lovely young lad in glasses. He took care of us and was super polite and friendly. The food was even better, it was fresh and had so much taste. Definitely recommend the curry dishes !

Excellent service, welcoming atmosphere, fabulous food. Brilliant experience and will certainly be heading back next time.

We went on a busy Saturday evening and enjoyed another fabulous meal. Sensibly priced, excellent quality and ingredients and helpful and attentive staff. What more can I say other than highly recommended...if you are nearby do go!!

Another great takeaway from these guys. Never disappointed always hot (even with a 10 minute drive home) always tasty & delicious. The coconut rice is to die for!

It was our 35th wedding anniversary and we had a lovely meal from an excellent menu. The staff were very attentive . It's a very cosy restaurant on what was a quite cool and damp evening. Next time we are in Cromer we will definitely eat here again.

This is the only thai restaurant in Cromer, it is the best around the area there is also one Sheringham that is very good, but if your local to Cromer this is the one to go for absolutely excellent food.
