Bangor Tandoori Restaurant in Gwynedd

I actually didn’t eat there but tried. The person already said they were cash only and they didn’t sell alcohol! And in a very rude manner. Why I today’s age people don’t take card?

Came here the last time I was in Bangor. The food and service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Great atmosphere inside Highly recommended if you like eating out. Definitely going there again the next time I'm in Bangor.

As we entered the restaurant we were welcomed immediately and shown to our seats. I picked up on the relaxed atmosphere as soon as we sat down while admiring their unique and elegant interior. The staff where thorough with our orders and explained to us the different curries that we ordered. Making suggestions to help us enjoy our meals more. The food arrived and the smells where intoxicating as so where the flavor and textures. I am so saddened that this will be my last experience here for a while, I’ll be further saddened if, when, I return this place will be gone. I cannot begin to recommend this place enough and I cannot wait for others to enjoy their wonderful restaurant. Thank you for such a lovely evening and we wish you well for the future.

Plenty of Gluten free options, understanding of cross contamination. Had a very nice curry will return when I'm back in the area.

Superb choice of food and great service!

We were recommended this place whilst out for the night & didn’t disappoint. Food was absolutely lovely, fresh & very well presented. Restaurant is not licensed, as well as being cash only, but there is a store about 20 metres away selling a range of alcoholic drinks you can take in that has a cash machine too. We will definitely revisit when next here

I took a friend (alas just friends) out for dinner here recently, although initially worried that there was hardly anyone else in the place on a Friday, any fears were set aside when the meal arrived. Granted we went a bit overboard on starters and couldn't finish our meal but it was all delicious, lovely food, lovely company and lovely wine because I brought it with me :)

What a superb meal! Freshly cooked, delicious dishes. Just what we needed for a family get together. It’s cash only and take your own alcohol. No problem as there’s a shop two doors down. 100% recommend this restaurant - hope you love it as much as we did

Amazing place with amazing service

I learned a long time ago, it’s not mistakes that define a restaurant, it’s how they deal with them that counts. Sadly our large takeaway collection had a few items missing. It was a busy Friday night for them and whilst I was frustrated discovering this when we got home to Llanfairfechan, a quick call to them (for which I expected to have to go and collect the items) and they were immediately apologetic. They didn’t quibble it all and the manager came on the phone to further apologise and then personally come to deliver it to us. The whole issue was resolver in about 15mins. The food was delicious and the whole family enjoyed everything. 5* food 5* service and will definitely come back.

Delicious food, attentive staff, lovely evening!

Great little find. We are from Bham and are spoilt with great curry houses and this place would beat many establishments on the balti mile for quality. Ordered North Indian Garlic lamb tikka with extra green chilli which was delicious, cooked just right so you could still taste the heat of the garlic. My wife ordered Murgi Masala and said this was equally as good. Friendly staff and well worth a visit.

Everything we ordered was delicious, including the vegetarian dishes. Spoilt for choice with the menu. The atmosphere was great; this restaurant seems to attract friendly, open customers – probably because the staff are that way too! We had a lovely evening, enjoyed our meal and chatting with everyone.

Bangor Tandoori has been one of my favorite restaurants for a long time. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, nothing seems like too much trouble for the. You can BYOB and they are very accommodating, bringing over corkscrews/bottle openers/ wine glasses etc. They have loads of Vegan options and can help suggest new dishes for you to try based on your preferences. Their menu is very extensive with something for everyone. I have never been disappointed by a meal here. When you go be sure to try their Dansak, which is one of the best I have ever had, and their 'secret sauce' - a spicy mango chutney, which comes with the poppadum pickle tray. I would buy it by the case! Thank you for your hospitality and I look forward to seeing you again soon!

After seeing the good reviews, we decided to pop in and try this Indian. First impressions were good. Nice setting, friendly staff. We ordered starters and mains. Later that night one of us began to feel unwell and the following day all of us who were eating there fell ill with food poisoning. We called the manager to report. He insisted that we were the only ones affected that night and was reluctant to take responsibility. This was the only food the 3 of us had together as a group, so there was no other possibility that it was food poisoning/illness from elsewhere. We also shared/tasted each others dishes so not sure which dish was the cause. While the manager was reluctant to take responsibility, his solution was for us to come back and give them another try. Not only would it be difficult to return to a place where we had such a negative experience, we weren’t local to the area to return. The least they could have done would be to refund us as we essentially paid to get food poisoning.

We visited this place in Aug 2023 on the way to Holyhead and were most disappointed with the quality of food and service (waited for over an hour after the order). Don't go there if you want authentic South Asian cousine. There food was just not good, rotis were half cooked, Dal was bland and chicken not marinated, just too rubbery. I wasn't expecting this from them, considering that they had such a high rating in food and service, unless it is otherwise. See the pictures. What they show in their web site maybe just be one of the case where they have an outside chef doing the cooking and taking pictures. From what they served was just not authentic, total waste of time and money.

We had heard a lot so visited this place for a dinner. We arrived at 8 PM, place was reasonably crowded and we ordered our dinner and waited and waited. It took more than an hour to get the food. When it came it was half cooked with no spices in dal, roti was half cooked, chicken was tasteless. An awful experience. It looked that they had some issues with their staff, including the chef. As all of us were waiting and waiting for food to arrive and when it arrived it was just tasteless.

Ordered 2 curries, one being a nagaa, was a takeaway, no chillies no spice, was bland. Chicken was cooked well. Lime pickle was out of a jar, poppadoms were out of a packet. Pricey for such a lackluster meal, wont be going back

From the moment we arrived everything was Superb, excellent service, reasonably priced, amazing food and as a bonus bring your own alcohol i honestly cant recommend it enough its the best Indian restaurant locally 🙌🏻

THEY CHARGE FOR TAP WATER, had lamb curry and was probably the blandest thing that I had ever had, and I've had food without salt before. Mate had a mixed grill which he did like. Waiters will also wipe the scraps on the floor when wiping the tables when cleaning them so floor was covered with broken poppadoms. Only positive thing is that you can bring your own alcoholic drinks with you.

This is by far the most delicious curry in North wales. Everything was cooked to perfection, the king prawn garlic speciality was utterly divine, lashings of garlic in a subtle but rich sauce, prawns with a crunch,and no overkill with the heat😋 6 of us had a different dish and were all equally satisfied. Lively spicy food and very welcoming! Had a chicken curry made with Naga chilies and assorted sides, and everything was delicious. But boy, they don't mess around, that curry was veeery spicy. It's interesting though, not so bad on the lips, but you can feel the spice in your chest, unlike other chilies. Don't forget to order a mango lassi! The staff were very friendly. It's a family business and they took the time to chat with me and tell me about the restaurant, and the area, and generally made me feel very welcome, so thank you! It's cash only, but there's an ATM nearby, and the shop near the ATM does cashback.

We went in late for food but they were closing, they were happy to do is a take away and call us a taxi. We normally go to caernarfon tandoori as it's closer to us but we had been out in Bangor. Food was really good and they have some stuff on the menu that they don't have at the other and made my husband a dish they do at the other restaurant but not this one. The cheese naan was very light in cheese and the Biriani was more like Palau rice, but in general the food is quite good and well priced. The service is not bad, but they could have only informed us they ran out of paneer sooner.

Tried a number of dishes and wasn't convinced. Food was quite average and didn't meet the expectations raised by the other ratings.

2 out of 3 dishes were poorly executed and didn't come close to the originals they were supposed to be. Rice was lumpy and stick together on big chunks. Starters were good but overall a less than mediocre experience.

I'm someone of South Asian origin, so I'm familiar completely with South Asian food. This is the worst South Asian food I've ever tried. We had to bring the food back with us because we don't like to waste food. The only good thing was their dessert as shown in the picture attached to this review. We spent over 70 pounds here and also tipped the waitress because she was nice. I would strongly advise people not to tip the servers, because the owner takes the tips and I'm very familiar with this behavior now also. When we tipped her, she handed the money to the manager, upon asking him to pay her the money back, he responded with we give it back at the end of the shift. I am well aware that this is never the case and some South Asian restaurateurs take the waiters' tips. It is unfortunate that these owners take advantage of these people who come to work to make a living. Update : I'm slightly confused with the owner's response below. I obviously went recently and left a review a little later when the shop was probably closed, but I don't know why that would prevent me from leaving a negative review? Lol

Nice clean and tidy, staff good. 3 out of 4 meals very nice, 4th chicken biryani rice a little bit salty. On the whole good.

An amazing experience! Staff had prepared everything to perfection. There were 24 of us, we were all seated comfortably. Food and service were the best. Very reasonably priced. I will not hesitate to bring large groups to the restaurant.

I ordered a butter chicken for takeaway and I can’t express my disappointment when I found they had given me a korma with loads of melted salted butter or ghee on top of it… payed over £9 too. But I can’t fault the other items I ordered
