Bang In Wells in North Norfolk

Thanks to such a friendly team, especially Will for coming to our rescue after we missed the bus - no fun with a 97 year old father. You saved the day. What a star!

Lovely clean room and a great breakfast, in walking distance to shops, bars and eateries, would stay there again.

Called in for lunch unexpectedly looking for somewhere nice for my birthday and we weren't disappointed. Warm and cosy. Lovely service and a delicious meal. Thoroughly recommended.

Ate at Bang last November and had a nice meal so decided to return this year. We are very disappointed. Standards have dropped considerably, or we were just very unlucky and the chef had the night off and the kitchen assistant was cooking, no offense intended. My husband's fish had spent far too long in the fryer and was very dry, the triple cooked chips were probably first fried last week, they were very tough. Yes, he ate it because we were very hungry having been walking all day. I was looking forward to the paella as people had been raving about it. Again it was very over cooked, very little in it except rice, two very dry prawns and four muscles, they were nice. Couldn't eat mine as so stodgy. Very small pudding menu, two items and ice cream. Very surly waitress which got worse when we didn't add tip to bill. We are not fussy eaters, we just want good quality, well cooked, tasty food and cheerful service. The catering/ hospitality industry is on its knees so standards have to be high to continue to attract customers, especially as menu prices are so high. Will not return.

Haven’t been here for ages so came with a friend for lunch. The welcome from the chap was lovely, the food was delicious and the place busy and bright. But the waitress made us feel like an inconvenience - other reviews have also made similar comments - which is such a shame.

Wow, from the moment we arrived (without a booking) was greeted so warmly, and was super lucky enough to get lucky with a table for the 3 of us. Amazing service by Rhys and fantastic fresh and creative dishes..from the fish-finger sandwich for my son, Paella for my husband and the most amazing Mackerel for me - amazingly scrummy. Lucky us... we were recommended here and it didn't disappoint - well done chef and all the team. Plus the team had gone to the trouble of providing wonderful fresh flowers (even in the bathroom) the windows (and everywhere) were super clean and some lovely tasteful Halloween decorations . A cutting edge team going places, who take great pride in what they do. We wish them every success, they really deserve it. Will be back next time we visit the area, its a must.

Really good food, although paella was over cooked and let down by being crammed into a corner, a group of three squashed in a table that fit two really - no window and facing a wall. A bit pricey but people squashed in especially smaller groups and service is efficient though not smiley friendly. Been looking to try this dining place for sometime - not sure to be honest about when I would return. Decided to return home for dessert as it wasn't comfortable.

We spent 3 nights in October. What a lovely, friendly place. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the Tewkesbury room, it was spacious and clean with an en-suite bathroom with the biggest bath I’ve ever seen. There was tea & coffee making facilities which were replenished every day. The breakfasts were superb with plenty of choice from cereals to pancakes to cooked options. They also served food up until 9pm, again there was plenty of choice. They welcome dogs (on leads) and some of the other rooms are ‘dog friendly’ The ‘Bang’ is an ideal place to use as a base to explore the area with lovely local villages and towns reasonably close by. It is just a few minute walk from the quayside and a 20 minute walk from the beach. (There is a car park at the beach) I defo recommend it!

This is a great place to eat, the food is delicious and the staff are friendly too. We would definitely recommend going here.

We had an absolutely delicious meal on a Sunday afternoon. Speedy service, varied menu and great staff. Prices are reasonable for the area. We brought our dogs, both were welcome and looked after. I would recommend the Tantanman!

This is a great little diner with inside and outside south facing seating areas. We visited twice over our two day stay in wells. Eggs Florentine on one day for brunch and wow! Great ingredients, fresh, flavoursome and cooked just right. DIY crab sandwich and crab salad on our second visit for lunch. Again, just great food and reasonably price. The staff are also great and offered good service.

Decided on a Flat Iron steak with garlic butter and chips. Not a steak I had ever heard of but this was the most delicious steak I had ever tasted and beautifully cooked. Soft, flaversome and with a copius amount of garlic butter. Heaven.
