Lovely friendly service generous potion size and fabulous tasting chips & cod roe..! Mayonnaise good ketchup needs upgrading but not the worst but sauce was free so can't moan... can't wait to come back to Banbury for another portion...! Highly recommended

If these are Banburys best fish n chips then Banbury must be hard up for fish n chips you would get shot if you served these in Yorkshire greasy soggy chips flat greasy batter not crisp n crunchy at all and the cod was grey and tasteless absolute rubbish i ate less than half the fish and a few chips then binned the rest

Awful! I've been four times and everytime it's worse than the last. First time it was fine, nothing special but warm and edible, second time the fish was burnt on the bottom and rock solid, third time the fish smelt very strongly and I chucked it out. Fourth time I tried something different, a kebab. It was vile. Barely cooked and a weird pale colour. I tried a bit and I still feel sick thinking about how awful it was 🤮🤮 It took ages to get served, and they put the wrong sauce on. I asked for yoghurt and mint and got hot chilli. It wasn't on the kebab either, it was on the chips. I don't know if it's under new management, but the staff seem clueless and the food is awful and it hasn't always been like that

We popped in by chance off the motorway. It was the best atop! Service brilliant, food hot and delicious. The fish was not overcooked. We couldn’t fault it.

I asked for a large haddock and chips, and the staff insisted I have a small that was already fried and on display in the hot counter, as a fresh fish would take ten minutes. So on which I agreed. The fish could of been more fresh and wasn't the tastiest, saying that the service was very good.

Good quick service and really tasty food

Very hard working employees will run like chickens to ensure your food is hot. The food is pretty good as well, normally I don't like eating hot chips but at this place I like them quite a bit. Also very cheap, I got a lengthy order and it only came to £17. They could up the price I think.

Came here on the basis of Google reviews as only visiting town briefly. Had high expectations which sadly weren't met. Fish was moderate size despite large cod being ordered. Batter was nice taste but greasy, thin and not at all crispy. Chippy tea used to be an economic choice but for 25 odd quid for 2x meals it should be well cooked at least. On the upside the chips and side sauces were pretty decent. My recommendation would be try elsewhere if you like crispy batter on your fish.

Lovely lightly battered fish, though there was a little bit too much oil sitting in the batter. Chips were red hot but lovely. The place is well laid out, and waitress service too.

Came here due to good google reviews but I don’t know where they came from, awful fish and chips. I asked for a large cod and it was over cooked and tasteless, the service was very slow too! Take my advise and eat elsewhere, I certainly won’t be returning

Popped in on Friday. Good to see Nick and the team busy. I took away a perfectly cooked Fishcake and chips. You always receive good service in there. This wasn’t an exception.

Pleased to see how Covid safe & clean the Fish Bar is, such a warm welcome from all the lovely staff, I ordered inside at the counter, if you prefer you can order outside at the back door were there is also outdoor seating with gazebo’s. I ordered the Lunch Box , “ chips, cod , sausage & mushy peas” have to say it’s the best fish n chips I’ve had in a very long time, the chips & sausage cooked perfect, the fish delicious & the Mushy peas omg they are delicious! Old school mushy peas made the proper way! All for £6 BARGAIN !! If it’s Proper Fish n Chips your after then I Highly recommend Banbury Fish Bar to everyone !! 10/10 for me. Mmmm yummy !

Ordered through just eat. After half an hour nothing had been confirmed. Rang the store no answer ended up cancelling the order.

On holiday doing a narrowboat cruise along the Oxford Canel and a crew member had a urge for fish and chips for tea, so full steam ahead to Banbury !! Banbury fish bar did not disappoint, hot , fresh and value for money! Staff friendly and clean and tidy sit in option. If ever in the area again a return visit will be on the cards !

You cannot go to this fish restaurant without receiving a lovely smiling welcome. A family business - well-run, scrupulously clean, with excellent attentive personal service and perfect fish and chips. I live near Banbury but don't come here often enough.

My haddock was cooked to order and done perfectly, with crisp batter and beautiful flaky fish. The portion was generous, and the food served in paper with a cardboard tray - no polystyrene in sight.Best of all, the staff were extremely cheerful and friendly, going out of their way to welcome me, chat while I waited, and invite me to use their outside tables. They provided more vinegar when I asked, and made me look forward to going back.

Normally I pop In most Saturday to have some food at Banbury fish bar the food is always good and the staff are really friendly and have known the family for years. Obviously since March 2020 the shop has been closed due to Covid-19 lockdown. But i today ordered some food for myself and my mum via Deliveroo. The food arrived in 25 minutes and it was good as always very impressed.

Really disappointed today, ordered 2 cods roe and chips a portion of chips and a lunch box, got home with food to find the lunch box had no fish or sausage in it, rang up and complained and got told to take it back and it would be sorted, took lunch box back to be told sorry this has never happened before, lunch box was replaced, also the chips was definitely not up there normal standard, when I mentioned that I used twice as much petrol to get this food, all that was said was sorry, think it will be along time before I use this chip shop again

I've been going to Banbury fish bar since it opened. The owners have been my friends ever since. You get great service aswell,they know what I want as soon as I come through the door great people.
