Balseros Latino Bar & Restaurant in Bexley

So glad this restaurant has reopened (formerly Balseros). The menu now has some Thai-inspired dishes and the food is as delicious as before. Started with bread, olives, pancake rolls and chillies - all delicious. I had the lamb skewer which was tender and perfectly cooked, with their fried rice - so tasty. Hubby’s vegan saltado and friend’s prawn saltado were both excellent.

Now called brasa bar and grill. Fantastic food, sister to Chupitos, will visit again, loverly chicken skewers and very large quesidollos. All fresh nothing frozen, all homemade

This has recently changed hands (September) and now does fantastic Ethiopian food. We had 2 platters between the 4 of us and it was all so delicious. We did all find time for some pud too. The waitress was very friendly and helpful explaining dishes. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again.

Staff are absolutely lovely as usual, and food was amazing. So much variety, great portions and delicious meals. Really nice to try new food and will definitely be coming back as soon as possible !

This is recently opened restaurant in Welling. We visited on a Friday evening and it was very quiet. The food and service however was great. I would recommend the chicken wings and the cod dish. The restaurant caters well for vegetarians. At the end of the meal, the waitress performed a traditional coffee ceremony and the coffee was delicious. The only point l would raise is to widen the range of non- alcohol drinks as a member of our party was driving. Apart from this, l would highly recommend this hidden gem in Welling.

What a local find. Lovely atmosphere, great food and excellent service. Try the honey wine for something a little different. Thoroughly recommend.

We've dined here many times pre covid and was surprised it changed into an Ethiopia restaurant recently but been meaning to try it. So today, being a special occasion we decided to give it a go. Restaurant was empty which is a shame cos the food was superb. Starter of chicken sambusa was absolutely gorgeous, succulent chicken wrapped in filo pastry with 2 dips of guacamole and a very tasty spicy one. My main of Kitfo Assa which was chopped tuna in a gorgeous spicy sauce was very different to what I'm used to but so tasty! Husband tried the Romina chicken tibs which was like a stir fried chicken dish and the ingredients just zinged on the palette. For dessert we shared the gluten free bread and butter pudding which was divine! We will definitely be back to try the many other dishes this restaurant has to offer. Give it a go, you might be very pleasantly surprised!

Having been to Balseros previously, I was keen to help them out after lockdown and during the Eat out to help out scheme. Upon arrival at the restaurant myself and my partner were asked to sanitise our hands and had our temperature checked. A huge improvement from other restaurants in welling about seemed to be packing people in despite social distancing regulations. Like before the food was simply outstanding. We had chorizo and calamari for starters, followed by steak and pork belly for mains. All washed down with fairly inexpensive cocktails. We will certainly be going back again more regularly.

Just got back from the restaurant. The starters were great but the main course of the shared sizzling plater was outstanding. We shared the three dessert special and believe me it was special. Beautiful food, excellent staff and great value.

Midweek meal, taking advantage of Eat out to Help out. Greeted with sanitiser and a temperature check, well done! Unfortunately the beer on offer wasn’t as advertised or ran out. The food was great, portions too big for this fella. Very good value, even at full price!

Loved dinner here. We had the octopus and chorizo for starters which was beautifully cooked. Sirloin steak I asked for medium rare and it was more medium well done and a bit fatty but flavour was lovely. Churros for dessert was delicious. Mojito cocktail was lovely. My partner had a porn star martini which was a bit too sweet with passion fruit puree instead of a slice. Overall a good dining experience and I would attend again.

The food here is fantastic! I have been here twice now and I cannot get enough. The service during the ‘Eat out to Help out’ has been impeccable. Despite the rush of people the team maintained a friendly manner throughout. My family ordered the buttermilk chicken burger and wings. It was perfect. You cannot go wrong at Balseros.

The ambience is warm and welcoming! The waitress explained with attention and passion every dish; The drinks menu offering a huge selection of cocktails; We ordered the ”parilliada” to share and it was really tasty, the meat was tender, and delicious! You can’t wrong with this restaurant!

Amazing food, incredibly tasty and reasonably priced - best latin food in SE london! Staff are super friendly - must must vist!

Fantastic food and friendly staff. Not as busy as Chupitos and just as good for food. Never had a bad meal or bad experience.

Make sure you get the Chorizo and the Steak. World class. Decent service, superb cocktails - what more does one want?! Go there!

What a little treasure!!! We have often drove past and I have wanted to visit. We finally did, and were pleasantly suprised. The food that we ordered was not only kind to the eye, but extremely tasty too. The waitress made the best Porn star martini!!! That alone was a winner. The octopus with chorizo was delish. Even thr varity of bread was spot on. We had cod as a main - delicious.There was plenty of room for our sons pushchair, so family friendly. The waitress was fantastic. Nothing was too much. Atmosphere was warm and friendly - typically Latino. All in all this is definitely a go to for us as couple and family. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Food was lovely good portions and presented very nicely, warm welcome good service and quite busy for a Sunday. Which was a good sign, nice Latino background music and great atmosphere. We will definitely return

We are regulars at Chupitos and thought we would try here as well for Sunday lunch. We had a party for seven and were starving, and we all left very happy with full bellies! We had octopus, chorizo and croquettes for starters all of which were extremely tasty and well presented. We had roasts and burgers for mains and again the presentation was great (loved the smoky burgers) and the portions were large. The food was all very well cooked to an extremely high standard, which you would struggle to find in central London. And all very reasonable with roasts at £12.50!! Service was also warm and friendly and so I really can’t recommend this place enough. We will be back!

Ate here last night with friends: my partner and I had eaten here a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it hence return visit. The food was lovely and presentation was gorgeous. Most of us chose from the Christmas menu and were not disappointed. Friendly staff and warm atmosphere this restaurant really deserves to take off: a very welcome asset to the area. Try it you won't be disappointed!

Visited Friday evening with friends after a recommendation. How refreshing to have a well lit restaurant that you can actually hear and have, a full conversation with your friends! No loud music, no rushing your food as you only have a 2hr slot! The service is spot on, friendly, happy to explain the dishes with confidence & knowledge. Lovely menu which has enough choice to please everyone. We all ordered different starters and then shared between us. They were all lovely, flavoursome and freshly prepared. The mains were all huge portions, my husband and my friend had the meat platter to share (almost like a mixed grill Cuban style).... it was massive, again freshly cooked and probably would have fed 4! We managed a portion of churros which we shared at the end which were superb. I will be back just so I can have a portion of churros to myself! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it’s a welcome addition! We all highly recommend this as a must do in Welling.

Husband and i decided to try the sunday set menu. Two courses for £12.50 which was superb value! I had the vegetable empanadas and hubby had the chicken croquettes for starters, both were fabulous. We opted for the roast chicken mains which were delicious . Forgot to take a picture of the starters as were so hungry we scoffed them before i got my phone out. We shared a dessert which was like a brioch bread and butter pudding with vanilla icecream and it was divine! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Five of us visited Balseros last night. I’d been before when it first opened but not since. Can honestly say we had a great evening. Food was excellent (do try the smokey burgers), generous portions and very tasty. Service was friendly and they got everything right. If this place was in London, Greenwich, Chiselhurst or somewhere people would be raving about it! And it’s in Welling - how great is that. And I haven’t even mentioned the cocktails yet...Do give it a try.

Have been told by a few friends that the restaurant was nice so thought I’d give it a go for my dads birthday and my what a lovely place

Seriously, how do they get food to taste this good?! As with their sister restaurant, Chupitos, the food really is excellent. Veggies not so well catered for though. The grilled octopus starter is so good I can’t have anything else now. Last visit, I had the pork tenderloin which was unbelievably tender and the vegetables were amazing. The rice dishes are delicious. Nice interior in an unattractive part of town (a bit of frosted glass on the window wouldn’t go amiss) but the service is welcoming and the food more than makes up for it. At the moment, it feels like a well-kept secret but certainly deserves to be busier than it currently is.

My partner and I have been to this restaurant quite a few times now as we love the food so much. Great service and very good price. Will be going again this weekend

We have been here a few times now - always a great service and delicious meat. Owned by the same people as Chupitos Tapas up the road (which is also excellent). Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic Latin American restaurant, the food was incredible, especially for the price. Would 100% recommend for a family lunch if you’re looking for a different experience. And the kids LOVED the churros! Will definitely be back.

Great cuban food. We ordered six different tapas which were all delicious. We attended on a Friday night however the restaurant was not busy at all. The service for us was excellent, extremely attentive however cannot say if it would have been the same had the restaurant been extremely busy. The only downside for us was that we found the bread that came with the garlic sauce far too crispy and the sauce too runny . The tapas itself was great.

came here as love chupitos but very dissappointed.Meatballs tasteless and my wifes main course was cold.I had the pork which was tasty but dry.The waiters tried but even at the end when we had a nightcap our drinks arrived 5 mins apart as barmaid stopped to do someone elses in between.The 3 stars are for the cocktails and the waiters otherwise would have been 2 for the food.

4 of us visited on Friday evening and had a lovely time. The service was excellent, the waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients and was very attentive. The food was superb, good menu selection and great taste infusions. We’ve visited before but this restaurant gets better every time. We’ll be back soon!

Visited this restaurant twice now and been very impressed on both occasions. Great service, amazing food and nice atmosphere. Sunday lunch and Tapas highly recommended . Burgers are amazing!

Visited this place for a celebratory dinner. The service was slow as there was only one waitress and the chef until emergency help arrived.

This is my 3rd visit to this restaurant and I have to say every time the food & service is outstanding. In my opinion this is the best restaurant in the Bexley borough.

Second visit to this restaurant and could not be happier with either the food or the service. The octopus is the best we have ever. Really friendly staff that can’t do enough to help. This is our new favourite restaurant.

A very good local restaurant that actually cooks all its own food!! Good service, tasty food. Its really lovely to have a local place that serves good quality, delicious food.

Visited this restaurant for the first time for dinner with some friends last week. We opted to share some small 'tapas' style dishes. They were interesting, well-cooked and nicely presented. The Albarino is good too. Friendly staff who care about their food and service. Prices are reasonable. My only criticism is that the lighting is a little bright, I think toning it down would make a cosier dining experience. Overall though, very good experience - we will be back.

We decided to order only mains and deserts. The lamb roast was delicious but we had to ask for extra gravy. My daughter had the bbq ribs huge portion. The best was the desert Caramel churros with ice cream chocolate sauce and strawberries absolutely delicious.

Fantastic again! We had the veggie empanadas for starters which were gorgeous. For mains I had the burger with sweet potato fries and fiancé had the the chicken burger... Both were superb! Can’t rate this restaurant highly enough... 10/10 ever time 🥰
