Balloch House in West Dunbartonshire

The food was very oily. Chapati wasn't actual Chapatti rather a huge maida roti. The spicy roll was so stuffed that the filling was falling down and not an easy task to eat. We threw half of the food.

They do the best south Indian garlic chili. Very rare to see the staff cracking a smile.

Ordered a Buffet takeaway on the Friday for delivery on the Saturday for 9pm they were spot on time and the pizzas and all the other accompanying foods were excellent and on time so thanks to the staff for a great service

Been ordering from Chillies for years. Ordered home delivery told 55 min wait . After 90 minutes I phoned to be told be here in 15. Wouldn’t have cared tbh if up to usual standard. Tonight our food was awful. Korma so tasteless was like baby food. Jaipuri just slightly better. Pakora and naan so greasy looked wet. The chicken was tough and tasteless. So very disappointed.

Worst Indian food we've ever had

Omg if I could give it less I would this has got to be the worst ever takeaway we've been to. 29th July time 11pm ordered starter and main starter would say maybe eatable the main horrendous never ever seen a chicken masala like it. The colour was pasty pink no taste what so ever, so bland it was like something you would have to eat in a challenge in I'm a celebrity jungle get me out of here, 16 pound went straight in the bin, I kid you not please do not even think about it, worst ever takeaway we've ever had, worst of it was a local told us how good it was. Seriously you don't know how folks taste buds differ, unbelievable is all I can say, gob smacked lesson learnt,. BE WARNED !!!!!!!

Couldn't get a pizza that my son wanted , they were too busy to make another , I was told 40 min wait will I was in the shop . Also delivery woman standing in the doorway of the shop smoking not really a good impression, then I seen the guy outside in the car then went back in with the same blue glove on

The best pizza I've ever eaten. So. Much. Cheese. I will never forget that experience.

Bit hit and miss, customer service in the shop especially. Can't complain about the food but it's lacking a bit of authenticity.

I always get great food from 🌶 chillies. Got a very tasty Nentara lamb curry with mushrooms & onions. Amazing. I've had pizza & kebabs in the past that where delicious. Always pick up so have no experience of home delivery. Staff always friendly although busy busy!

Sorry will not be ordering again used this place for years fed up with the inconsistency of the food bit of a hit and miss pakora terrible burnt on outside raw in middle and far to salty (heart attack in a brown bag) curry bland rice ok . Oh spiced onions not chopped evenly check them out and you'll see what I mean. Can't find a decent takeaway in this area.

This place is amazing, food is delicious and the staff are so welcoming.

The set meal for one is quite large and would feed 2. Good value for money. However I've stopped ordering curry from them as they are bland, lacking in any real spice flavour. I think the spice flies over the pot... even the hottest curry is just tomato sauce. Also the pakora has been refried a few times which made it dry and greasy. Inedible. I used to have a curry every Saturday, but no longer. My homemade curry is much tastier.

Lovely meal first time in a while didn't dissapoint

Mixed kebab. Struggled to taste the meats due to sweetness of the chilli sauce. I've never tasted such a sweet sauce on a kebab and it almost ruined the kebab. Managed to scrape most of it off to make it edible. I would try again if staying longer but I'd not bother with a sauce or get it separately so the meat flavours stand a chance.

Food is good, delivery is terrible. It's better to just collect yourself.

DISGUSTING FOOD. DIRTY PEOPLE. If I could rate 0, I would. The bread was soggy, the meat was cold and drowned in sauce. That was the first time I placed an order and will be the last . That was a waste of money.

Ordered a chicken tikka masala. Didn’t look or taste like one unfortunately and the chicken was very rubbery and off putting. We ended up chucking most of it.

If there is a god, she would definitely eat at chillies.

Visited chillies tonight for a kebab and pizza and chips spent £17.00 and asked for a small bit of vinegar to take away and the homeless guy behind the desk said it would cost 50p more to take vinegar away. These guys are a disgrace to humanity, very bad customer service and only looking for money. Not good at all. Would be best to shut down and change to KFC.

2 hours for a failed delivery for an address that was 4 minutes away from the restaurant. Called them 4 times to check and explain that I can’t come to collect due to Health reasons. Heard the staff laugh and talk in Hindi about it - I am an Indian and understand Hindi, Punjabi and jokes on your customers are never good. Horrible service.. manager himself was not sure what’s happening.

Chicken Tikka Masalla Pizza is Amazing

Naan bread with chicken tikka kebab was brick hard' couldn't even eat it. As a regular customer I have noticed over last few deliveries it has not been as good.

The best takeaway by far. Sometimes deliveries can take a while but at least it shows its popular. Picking up an order can Sometimes be quicker although the shop us very busy. Bottom line id rather wait an extra 15 minutes for good food rather that instant gut wrot from the faster places. How can a quiet shop afford maintain the ingredient standards of a busy shop 🤔

What cam i say about chilles balloch just wow amazeing food good price and staff are amazing too even deliver drive are nice Defo worth try u wont be disappointed But they need card machine instore Alway clean and food alway fast and is amazeing Defo best in west dumbarton by far

Fantastic choice of takeaway. Something for everybody's pallet. Only criticism is that the portions were a bit on the large size.

Korma was too creamy and garlic and corrander had far to much corrander on. Rogan Josh was nice.

Fantastic authentic test. Not over done and we’ll blend of spices. Must visit. Staff very friendly and service is sharp.

Couldn't tell you about the food as I couldn't get any. This place is cash only (in this day and age) and the cash machine outside charges for withdrawal (again, what??)

Worst pizza ever!!! Would definitely not recommend. A big fat thumbs down from me.

A few months ago I would be giving Chilli's 5 stars as I am a regular customer. However the past few months their chicken pakora which used to always be freshly made and soft is now dried out and stale. At £9 a pop, it's a bit steep to be paying for poor quality. I always give them the benefit and the doubt and always get disappointed. Time to just stop buying from them. Shame as I've given them years of custom.

It was OK got a donnar kebab quite tasteless my wife like her chicken tika kebab. Probably wouldn't visit it again

Great place for a drink, staff were so pleasant and friendly! One girl called Ailsa served us and she couldn’t have been nicer, a credit to the place! Fast service, I ordered pizza and it was lovely. Been to a few places in balloch for drinks and this is definitely my favourite.

We arrived for a late lunch after booking at the last minute. A friendly welcome and after track and trace details taken we were shown to our table. I had the Duo of Lamb which was delicious. The accompanying Shepherds pie was oustanding and the roast carrots were superb. My wife had the burger and said it was the best burger she has had. She finished off with a coffee and chocolate brownie which she loved. All in all great lunch in nice surroundings served by pleasant staff.

Lovely , old fashioned pub with open fire , polite staff . The smell of wet dogs and barking , can put you of a lenghthy visit unfortunately. Great for dog walkers . Restaurant nice and food OK to .

Me,and partner had a nice night here it was a while back but wanting to return asap (reason for checking reviews) The Staff were nice and attentive. Our meals were really nice and setting was beautiful. Steak and chips then Eton mess plus couple of soda drinks for me. And partner really enjoyed burger and chips and a couple of pints, bill was under £40 don't have one complaint.

Usually good, best in the area, disappointing poppadoms were yesterday s soft and nan was under cooked, but I like it well done.

The worst tikka lamb Korma and garlic nan bread I've ever had. Tasted awful and had to put it straight in the bin.

Had my birthday dinner here with my family and it was a fantastic experience. Menu was limited due to current guidelines but still plenty on offer outwith minimal menu in respect of gluten free and my partner was limited to 1 dish. Staff where friendly and their interactions with us and fellow diners took the feeling of restrictions re Covid away from us and helped keep the atmosphere ambient and welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit with being locals and hopefully with a more increased menu for Gluten free options.

Balloch house is a fantastic destination for a weekend break. It's architecture, fire places and cozy but modern interior made our stay very homely and comfortable. The food has a great standard and offers many Scottish favourites. It is located close to lovely walks with generous parking. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place and will come again (hopefully soon).

Absolutely adored the aesthetic of this beautiful hotel. I was blown away by the food, it was 5 star quality and the service could not be beaten! I cannot wait to return and have that pork belly again!

Whether it's the staff, the food, or the accommodation, I couldn't fault my stay at Balloch House with my girlfriend for overnight stay getaway and I couldn't recommend somewhere more! An amazing view out to harbour from our room, a lovely menu full of local favourites and even a cosy fireplace to put our feet up. Cheery staff to help with anything we needed and wonderful service all round!

Nice ,snug pub ,with burning fire ,nice staff ,overpriced food. and the smell of wet dogs taking over your night out , There is a large room at back, you could use for dog friendly area.

Beautiful restaurant warm cisy very inviting. The service was excellent and cant say enough good things about the food from the Pate to the Roast beef dinner yummmmmmm.

We are regulars here, but since the ease of lockdown, the measures are over the top.The manager insisted that we leave after 2 hours, and said this has to be strictly adhered to. Could someone explain the risk of staying longer then 2 hours please?Other local places are not enforcing this and we will be going where we feel we are treated as customers and not a number

caught in the rain, needed table short notice for 20mins before our cruise. Staff amazing drinks served within mins. Restaurant is huge and yet has such a cosy feel. Definitely going to book soon for dinner. Staff follow strict covid rules.

Thanks to an offer from Vintage Inns (and visiting a hotel nearby), we decided to chance a visit to the Balloch House. Am in a powerchair and was easily accommodated at a table near the accessible facilities as requested. Good start. Then we were told Ashley would be our server, a star! She was attentive without being obtrustive, extremely helpful and what a wonderful personality. The food was fabulous. Both to look at and taste. We had the soup of the day (Spicy Cauliflower and Potato), Beef and Porcini Bourguignon with green veg and parsley mash, Chicken and Mushroom Pie, greens and triple cooked chips followed by the fabulous banoffee pie and very smooth coffee. The offer took 50% off mains only and all that with a soft drink was under £33! At full price it would still have been under £50 for both of us. If you're in the area, I'd highly recommend booking and visiting. Diane the Manager and Jacqueline, who took our booking, were also very pleasant and helpful. Everything socially distanced (as should be) and the first time I've felt safe in a public environment since March! We will return.

Booked with relatively short notice for evening meal and was not disappointed. The food was excellent. The Covid-19 measures they had in place made us feel very safe.

Pre booked a table on line for 7.30pm (Sunday evening), however we called in earlier (4.430pm) for a drink to be met by a lady on the door with a serious attitude problem. Said we couldn't go in at all as no spaces, even though the outside seating was empty and space inside for a drink.We went back later for our booked meal, food was really good and bar staff very good.Very nice and clean inside. All Covid precautions being taken including track and trace.Unfortunately won't be going back due to attitude of lady on door. Needs serious customer service training.

Stayed two nights. Accommodation was comfortable. COVID precautions seemed fairly well enforced. Wifi was patchy and the TV signal dropped out for the first evening. Continental breakfast was replaced by a take-away bag due to the virus. Dinner was a somewhat chaotic experience mainly thanks to the eccentric and at times off-hand behaviour of the duty manager. The food was of average quality and one or two of the dishes didn't seem entirely consistent with the menu description.

Under the current COVID circumstances, establishments have a varying degrees of compliance, here they were exactly what all should be doing. Well Done to all! The food was really good, flavoursome, and delicious. Staff were attentive and professional at all times.

Service was quick and friendly. Food was tasty and generous portions. Tables were far enough spaced and safety did seem a priority.

The lady that welcomed us or should have welcomed us into the restaurant was extremely rude. She didnt habe a badge butI think she may have been the manageress. Not a smile and had a really bad attitude. We all know things are different just now because of covid but her attitude was horrible and she made us feel like we shouldn't have been out. Once seated our waitress and food were lovely but her attitude left a bitter taste with my family. We were going to walk out but didnt want to make a scene.

We live locally and haven’t visited since last year.3 adults for lunch we were seated at a comfortable table And 2 had beef bourguignoin and 1 sea bass I will attach pictures. The main courses were fantastic and beautifully presented, we didn’t have a long wait for food drinks were ordered and arrived quickly our waiter Ryan went above and beyond and is a credit to the restaurant. After the success of the main courses we ordered desserts and another round of drinks the desserts banoffie pie, apricot creme brûlée, and ice cream the presentation was again fantastic and well received. We also were told if we downloaded the app we would get 50% off our main courses! Amazing food, amazing service, amazing price and fabulous staff 10/10 we will be back again very soon!

Fantastic lunch which We booked under the current guidelines been set . Ryan and the rest of the staff offered an amazing table service under pressure as it was heaving . Our dog was kept busy and no fuss either will def be back before end of the year. Well worth the drive through to balloch alone

Our group of 8 adults 1 baby and 3 dogs visited on Wednesday 2nd September. We were sat in the bar area at two separate tables (my aunt, uncle and cousin and their dog sat at the other table so they ordered separately). It was a very cosy and comfy place with quirky furniture and a feature fireplace. My mum, sister and I shared a bottle of rose, they both ordered a pork sandwich, dad had gammon steak, my nephew had kids pasta with tomato sauce and mashed potato and peas and I had the lobster and white fish fishcake served with asparagus with hollandaise sauce and potatoes in a pot. I can’t remember what my brother in law had. We all really enjoyed our meals and were very impressed with the presentation of the food. We also had a discounted price bill through an app.We would highly recommend and would return in the future.

Under current circumstances, well organised and great service and food. Food was fresh and tasty and didn’t feel rushed.

Nice friendly pub with accomdating staff. Friendly atmosphere and were very good with social distancing measures and track and trace - well set up. Would recommend. Only criticism was that it wasn't very warm - having the fireplace on in this wet weather would have been a bonus

We only went for coffee, but could not fault the welcome, so decided to have lunch- fish finger sandwiches and sticky toffee pudding to follow, excellent food

Stopped off on our journey for a lunch and we couldn’t have chosen a better place. After 10 days in a motorhome I couldn’t have been happier to see the menu, my only disappointment was that we couldn’t have stayed for a few more days to sample more off the Menu. Staff were all very helpful and friendly and explained all social distancing measures on arrival. Beautiful place, great Food and drink menu, the food was amazing, reasonably priced for the quality of produce with lovely views outside. Would highly recommend.

We stopped here for Sunday lunch. We had mushrooms and pate for starters and I had a lamb dinner for main. The food was decent, the place was clean and the prices were reasonable. Only reason it didn’t get 5 stars was because we felt the staff were a little bit rude to us on entry in relation to the covid guidelines.

We ate here on two occasions and drinks outside on another during a weeks stay in the area.Staff were very accommodating in finding us seats with three small dogs, we ate in the bar area. Different host on each occasion both were all smiles and gave us a very warm welcome. Food was hot fresh and delicious, amazing fish and chips! Waitress service was impeccable. They are very organised in implementing the current COVID -19 guidelines, fluid service from all areas well done team Balloch we will definitely be back, highly recommend.

We had to attend this place for a meal today for lunch time. We came with our friends. We 4 families came from different houses. Driven there in our own car. Manager in this pub was in the front of the restaurant very arrogant and refused to have us in the restaurant. The reason was we 4 families know each other. Any one think that the legal reason was not , never! . Its the our skin colour which bothered her. That manager is a perfect racist. They been helped by governmnet by offering £10 per meal, and they are absolutely doing this against govenment rules. No one with dark skin . Please dont go to this place. Otherwise u will be turned away due to ur colour

Balloch House is as cosy as it is welcoming. Despite the restrictions because of COVID 19, all properly respected, the greeting and service by the staff were excellent. The food choices were mouthwatering and attention to detail first class. Probably the finest place in Balloch to dine!

This was our first time eating out since lockdown. The whole process was excellent. Booked a time slot online, when we arrived we were greeted by the manageress outside and taken to reception and our contact details taken. We were then shown to our table which was very well distanced from the others. Our waitress gave us a paper menu, to be thrown out after us, and also took our drinks order. The drinks were brought to the table and left at the other end of the table on the tray along with our cutlery pre wrapped in napkins. We only had a roast meal each as we'd read that portions were large. The meal arrived piping hot and was absolutely delicious as were the great selection of vegetables on the side. We were given a two hour timeslot which even if we'd had a three course meal would've been plenty time. Everything was very well organised and great value for money and you could see other tables being completely sanitised after use. Would've given five stars except the toilet had no hand soap in the dispenser, however there was sanitiser stations everywhere and when we told the manageress she immediately went to check. We'll definitely return and thank you for making our first meal out enjoyable

We had a lovely meal on Monday night. The Covid safety procedures were all in place and we felt everything worked well. This was the first night of the "eat out to help out" scheme and it was busy. The staff were pleasant and helpful and kept on top of things.
