Balance Bistro in West Lothian

Tiny hidden away place. Park for free outside the door and get inside. I've never been to a place that sells food and has a full gym right next to where you eat. I love pumping a bit of iron so it doesn't bother me but I've just never seen this setup before. As far as gym equipment goes it's all the proper Olympic bars and decent racks, only 8 quid a session. Anyway back to the food. Quite a large menu to choose from but be aware there are only like 2 tables if you are sitting in. Food was all fine nothing mind blowing but fine. Would come back to hit the iron maybe.

My friend took me here after saying the food was really good, when we arrived she was shocked to see there were only 2 tables in the bistro and the rest of the space was taken up with exercise equipment, with people working out beside us while we were eating, my friend asked a staff member if they were closing the bistro but she said no that the gym was expanding from the next room, we placed our order the day before so it would be ready for us, if we hadn't done this we would have walked, totally unhygienic people sweating beside us while we were eating to me was unacceptable, I'm a gym user and there is no way I would work out while people were trying to eat! They really need to update their website to make people aware, I thought I was going to a lovely bistro, which couldn't be further from the truth

Really cute place with utterly delish food. The vegan pancakes Are the best I’ve had in a long time & the fact they have so many healthy options (for me) and great options for the rest of the family , made it such an easy choice for lunch. Would highly recommend

I’m not one for leaving bad reviews but really felt I had to in this case. I was ordering afternoon tea as a summer treat, I ordered via their website and all was fine until I got an email the next day stating I was being refunded because the order hadn’t been confirmed. It turned out the online ordering system lets you book orders for days they are closed! So I re-ordered for 10am on a Thursday (they’re closed Mondays and Tuesdays) so they had a full 24 hours notice of the order. This time it went through. Then on Wednesday I received a call to say that it wouldn’t arrive until 11 because they don’t open until 10. Again, fine. On Thursday (delivery day) the food finally arrived at 11:50. Can't say I was particularly impressed. The food was very tasty, but the poor ordering system and delayed delivery really let them down.

I was so impressed with there menu , staff so welcoming . Covid restrictions applied safely . Food exceptional. Will be back again x

Love Balance Bistro! I've had breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and nothing has disappointed. They have a wide variety of food and you feel like you've had a good hearty meal that hasn't been swimming in grease and fat. I've eaten in and had food delivered, the food is so delicious every time. Staff are so friendly and bonus is that the place is dog friendly. Would highly recommend if you want to try somewhere different. Karen and her team are top class!

Brilliant staff, friendly, accommodating and helpful. Amazing menu with mix of whole and health food options and treats. Food is always super, the sweet potato fries are just the best. Can’t rate BB team and food highly enough. If you haven’t been give them a try. We order every weekend for a healthy lunches and never had anything to disappoint. Always good, fresh and delicious!!!

Pretty disappointed was routing for them, but we weren't happy with our breakfasts this morning, waited a while to be served and then 40mins for 2 breakfasts. Tattie scone soggy & barely cooked, overall bland 0 seasoning & mushrooms needed cleaned. Asked for brown sauce and was served a small bowl with a disgusting congealed brown blob in it which looked as though it had been left by someone else. Maybe an off day for them but for nearly £8 a fry up, I expect way better service and product.

Great choice of food, especially if you have dietary requirements, nice waiting staff, and the full breakfast was very enjoyable, they were happy to accommodate our one year old boy as well.

Decided to try here for food delivery when visiting mum as she can’t get out just now. So easy looking at menu online difficult part was choosing. Brilliant menu. Had 2meals for meat eaters 1 veggie with sides and sweet treat for mum. Loved all food especially the chips.Great having it brought to the door. Pleasant delivery lady. We’ll definitely use the service again or pop along for a sit in meal.

We just collected lunch and it was absolutely delicious. The chips were the best I have had for a long while . The burgers were beautiful cooked and very filing . Would definitely eat there again .

All round great visit. Got the square and tattie scone roll and pancake - were both amazing Soup was excellent as well. Very reasonably priced!Struggled to find a decent independent lunch/ cafe place this side of West Lothian for years. This one definitely ticks all the right boxes!Will be back soon

Honestly love this place. Went for the first time last week and went back today and was just as good. All food is brilliant, hot chocolate was amazing and the pancakes were just brilliant. Service great, massive choice and great value for money. Been full all day after our feed :)

Cannot fault this wee gem of a place. Its like a converted dream factory. Staff are amazing, food is up there with the savoy grill and its just so welcoming and warm. You have to try it, delivered, collected or at a table. West Lothians premier bistro....

Great food , friendly atmosphere

Great food, always hot when it arrives and delivery times are quite quick too (always quicker than time estimated). Personally can't see past their steak, eggs and hash brown (tastes amazing) and order it every time we get food from there. Highly recommend Balance Bistro for their food and service, never had an issue and will always order from here when given the chance.

Great wee place for lunch and friendly staff.

Delicious food. Pancakes are huge, fluffy. Full breakfast, hot dogs, soup of the day with roll and sandwiches have all been purchased and all arrived warm, including the tea, all home cooked and fresh. Second time buyer and will definitely be back.

Just back from ordering breakfast. This is the second time I've been. I won't be back the food is good but my order has been wrong both times. plus I don't see the pointing requesting a pick up time when you have to wait an extra 10 mins. Both times were late. I wish them well but its not for me.

Had a burger and chips. Was a hand pressed burger with all the trimmings. Absolutely lovely. Will deffo be back.

Ordered breakfast after being too hungover to cook and it was amazing! Really good ingredients and cooked to perfection, bacon was crispy and egg was perfect! Definitely be ordering again.

I had a home delivery of afternoon tea. I can’t rate it highly enough. Absolutely delicious. During the lockdown they are working reduced hours but the food is great.

I ordered from here for the first time. Unfortunately the meal was disappointing as the fries that were really potatoes which was great to see but burnt.

Wow! Amazing food and loads (almost too much) choice. Great concept and fab atmosphere. Dont want to tell anyone how good this place is because it'll get too busy :(

Amazing little cafe which is great for if you're training and needing to watch your macros but still want to enjoy food. Wide variety on the menu so there is something for everyone. The staff are always very friendly and inviting and although it states on the website that longer waiting times may be applicable due to everything being cooked from fresh, I have always experienced a speedy service.

I have been here a number of times. It doesn’t disappoint. Pancake breakfast stack is fabulous and undoubtedly my favourite for breakfast/lunch.

Only ever had delivery but its now my favourite place to order from around Livingston. Tried various things from the menu and everything has been great.

My daughter and I popped in for lunch in May and we’ve been back many times since then. Food is delicious and staff are so friendly and helpful.Also used been getting then meal prep and it’s so easy. And, even better, the food is delicious. Totally loving it and can’t recommend it enough. Karen is an absolute legend!!! ❤️

Visited the Balance Bistro for breakfast with my partner this morning for this first time.Nice cosy little cafe with very friendly and accommodating staff.There was a slight mix up with my order, but this was very quickly resolved and with absolutely no inconvenience to me at all.The food was fantastic! I adore Stornoway black pudding and was delighted to discover that it is served as standard with the breakfast. Best pancakes I’ve ever tasted as well!My partner is fussy when it comes to hash browns and also said these were awesome!Very generous portions and terrific prices!We will most definitely be back and will be spreading the word!

Amazing food so much to choose from ;)

We have been here many times as the food is excellent but we booked today as a father's day treat, 7 of us all had various meals from a full breakfast to macaroni cheese, balmoral chicken, scrambled eggs and teriyaki chicken, all of it was prepared fresh and tasted amazing. This little gem of a place is a bit out of the way to find but if you are looking for great food and friendly staff this is a must visit. Karen and Barrie are very welcoming and no request is too much trouble for them. Karen makes THE best scones in west Lothian. Prices are excellent at £78 for 7 people including mains desserts and drinks! Excellent value. Thank you balance bistro

Food was nice but bit of a strange environment, no windows, converted unit.

Been looking for an opportunity to go here for lunch for a while as I had heard good things - so glad I went as it didn't disappoint. The key to this cafe is in its name - Balance Bistro.There's a massive range of foods from classic stables like burgers to healthier options or with added protein.The staff were very friendly and helpful. I think its their place to they really care about the food and making sure you get what you want.I had the classic burger with cjips and it was excellent, my wife had the halloumi option - both were fantastic. We don't normally have deserts but had to give the protein balls ago. Glad we did they were fantastic and the sugar free chocolate sauce was outstanding too. Found this place to have a brilliant menu and love the fact its go so many healthy options and ones with added protein, brilliant for any time but especially after the gym like me today. Really like the look of the Breakfasts so will definitely be back soon.Really recommend going. Great food and value for money.

Very nice. Lovely oat pancakes with sugar free maple syrup, banana, blueberries and fat free yoghurt. Also breakfast pancakes stack with black pudding, bacon and sausages. Food was delicious and staff were very helpful. Quiet as we were the only people there at the time.

No matter what dietary requirement you have I reckon Balance Bistro can cater for it. They have an amazing menu; all the usual tasty things like fish and chips and chilli with rice but also include interesting meals like cauliflower based pizza (gluten free and very tasty). Then there's the delicious cake! Fun staff and a very relaxed environment.

Was a little sceptical when Google said we had arrived.But once in cosy and welcoming, The menu had a great choice for all, We chose high protein and keto option, food taste amazing wanted more, but full belly, Staff was more than happy to make an order to your taste.Will definitely come back.10 out 10.

Balance bistro offers so much more than fresh home made food. Wether it's popping in for a coffee and cake with friends or you want a healthy well balanced meal / snack to sit in or takeaway Karen and her team cover it all. Not only that but to offer nutritional advice and food prep is something that no other local establishment does. Karen and her team have an amazing concept and I can't recommend them enough. It is refreshing to be able to go somewhere where even if you have a specialised diet you have a wide selection of nutritional food and don't need to feel you are "missing out" is amazing.

Having passed the signs daily we stopped in for lunch. Soup, toastie 2 drinks, 2 lattes and 2 cookies all for under £15. Food was delicious and healthy, and staff were really friendly. Great new business and will definitely be returning very soon.

Balance Bistro is exactly what West Lothian has been missing. A great place to sit in and eat or take away. The food is fresh, bursting with flavour and very reasonable in price.

Finally, a place where you can eat tasty food which you know is also very healthy.

I’ve been to Balance Bistro a few times and every time it hasn’t disappointed. What great atmosphere, decor and staff they have! The food is extremely yummy for being healthy - the perfect balance after you have worked out or even out for lunch with your friends or dinner with your family- it caters for all. My favourite snack is the banana and chocolate protein pancakes

Visited a few times to balance bistro and every time i have the food has been amazing, best cauliflower pizza ive ever tried!!. the bistro has a relaxed atmosphere and karen and barrie always make you feel welcome and i thank you for that.
