Friendly staff and the food was amazing! We ordered the hot dish of the day and it didn't disappoint. I would recommend it to anyone looking for some hearty veg/vegan food when visiting Lincoln.

A regular at the Bailgate Deli. Fabulous food and well priced. My avo toast with balsamic kale exceeded expectations this morning.

Staying in Lincoln for work and wanted to find a healthier option for my tea. Walked up enormous hill to find this place, unfortunately I was late for cafe food, which stops at 3.30pm. The lady behind the counter took pity on me, probably helped by my glowing red face after walking the hill! She offered a seat and prepared me a falafel salad. The owner popped down and was also very friendly Incredibly kind, going above and beyond and the falafel salad is a thing of beauty!

Found this place by accident but so glad we did. Absolutely delicious vegan food and the most lovely, friendly staff. A must when in Lincoln if you are after a vegan meal! Can’t wait to visit again! (Loaded crispy tofu fries and falafel wrap 🤤😍)

Vegan food is not my usual diet and it's very hard to impress me with it. But hands down, the best vegan food ever at Bailgate Deli. They treated me to a wonderful culinary experience that I won't ever forget. I tried the soup, falafel salad and loaded fries. Can't even suggest any improvements. Perfect food no matter what you usually eat, you will love this culinary experience. The service was friendly and top notch. Will visit again 10/10.

Great little vegan/veggie cafe and one I always recommend to visiting friends/family. Independently owned. The oat hot chocolates are excellent - as are the croissants! Dog friendly. Just be aware, there is no step free access.

Clean, good vegan menu and nice atmosphere and staff. Definitely recommend.

Lovely attentive service, food was well flavoured and very delicious. The chai oat milk tea was hot and very moorish. We brought are dog and felt very welcome.

I’ve only been here a handful of times, but they’ve all been really lovely experiences. Everything is mostly vegan I believe (or at least plant-based) which I’m not, but the breakfast is great! Really tasty! Big fan of the coffee too. The owner and all the staff are so friendly and lovely - it’s got a real community vibe to it. Highly recommend popping in for a brunch or a coffee!

Lovely little Deli in Lincoln! Ate here with my family before my sister's Graduation so everywhere was VERY busy and we left it very last minute to eat before the ceremony, but staff were so lovely and could tell they were doing everything they could to be extra speedy for us. In our rush we hadn't realised it was vegan when sitting down (not the usual choice for some in the group) but everyone raved about their food - so so tasty!

The highlight of my day today was discovering this little café tucked away uphill in Lincoln. The iced coffee was refreshing, the katsu curry was aromatic and filling, and service was delightful and authentic. Reccomendation: Try the biscoff brownie, it's mouth-coatingly indulgent 😍

Best falafel salad I’ve ever had.. and I’ve eaten a fair few! Lots of variety and the falafels themselves were really tasty. It was a large portion and well worth the £7. The wait time was short considering it was lunchtime. The staff were friendly, the service was great, and although I had a takeout, the atmosphere was nice while I waited. The takeout packaging and cutlery was all biodegradable :) Will definitely return next time I’m in Lincoln!

We spotted this little place only by chance but now we are very glad we did. We are not vegetarians or vegan but the food is seriously good and lovingly prepared (fresh). - the little wait is totally worth it and the quantity is very generous. If you are visiting Lincoln, this is a real gem of a find!

Bustling little vegan cafe just up from the cathedral. Lovely food and wonderful staff. I had the tofu & mushroom schwarma and it was gorgeous. Took a little extra time to come out as it was packed saturday lunch time but well worth the wait. Already picked out what I'm having next time I go 😁

Indulged in the vegan breakfast. There's something about the mushrooms in Lincoln - this was not the only place where they were very tasty. I opted for the tempeh. This is a dish I've eaten here and in its native Indonesia. The offering here was the best I've ever had. Add on great service, nice ambience and a street view. It doesn't get much better!

Absolutely perfect lunch, unbelievably good value. Large portions of fresh and nourishing food that was really delicious. We had a bean burger, falafel wrap that had loads of different salads, and shawarma sandwich, highly recommend them all. Plus chips and crispy fried tofu that pleased the 6 year old. Nice service and clean cute surroundings.

Great little place! Well worth a visit. Food is lovely, fresh and full of flavour. Coffee is good too and it is well priced. The staff are all brilliant too and make you feel comfortable. Good stuff all around.

Lovely tasty lunch Staff pleasant and helpful, busy too

A fantastic little cafe selling tasty, great value food. It's a small menu, but just right. The picture was described on the menu as a bowl of humous with crispy falafels - as you can see it was more than just that! And really good value - 4 of us had a meal, tea and a hot chocolate for less than £15 a head. Service is very friendly and quick, but not rushed. Unless you absolutely have to have a piece of meat on your plate this cafe is definitely to be recommended.

Delicious meal. I had the 'full vegan' and I was definitely full at the end! Good coffee too. Service was fast and friendly and the meal was good value for money. I'll definitely go there again.

This place is an absolute gem in Lincoln. The burger & chips was soo tasty and the staff so friendly. You have to go there when you're in Baligate/Lincoln.

I treat myself to a takeaway lunch from here every couple of weeks or so. Always great service, warm buzz about the place and the food is amazing.

Lovely food and super setting, nestled by the castle, always full and serving up lovely vegan food. Ignorance alert, but if you’re not into the vegan scene, you may be surprised as I was to find that vegan food can be so lovely. Very friendly staff and dog friendly. Also has a shop inside to grab any vegan items you can think of from truffles and marshmallows to sausage and pies. Great coffee too.

Came 2 months ago. It's quite hard to find a restaurant/ cafe that does vegan food other than burgers or curries. But this cafe was brilliant; lots of choice and food was delicious.

Very bad experience at this café. Don't risk going if you're vegan or have a dairy allergy! I asked if they had oat milk and the owner assured me they did so I ordered an oat milk latte, and went to sit outside. 20 minutes later I asked the owner when he came out to clear a table if my oat milk latte was coming and he went in and brought it out, having obviously forgotten. I thought it tasted strange, but assumed it was just a different oat milk brand to the one I was used to. After drinking it I went in and asked to pay, reminding him I'd had an oat milk latte. After paying for it, I was just about to leave when the owner said, "it wasn't oat milk!". I asked him if he was joking. He said "I wouldn't joke about something like that!". I was horrified, since I hadn't had dairy for decades. For me it was an ethical issue. For someone with a dairy allergy, it could have meant a severe reaction, or worse. The owner made no attempt to apologise or even refund me and I was so shocked I didn't know what else to do other than leave. This happened last year, but I was moved to write a review today, having heard in the news about the woman in Wiltshire who tragically died having eaten a supposedly vegan wrap, which in fact contained milk protein.

Very good vegan breakfast! Didn't have gluten free bread when I was there but I think they normally do. I got avocado instead of bread, so I don't mind. Didn't see the inside but it had a nice sitting area outside, with some sun and some shade and a view of the castle.

Not to be “that person” at all but just wanted to let people know we’ve been to Bailgate Deli in Lincoln today. They advertise as everything being plant based but our drinks were actually made with cows milk as standard. Luckily I watched them being made so questioned it. The man explained they wouldn’t survive without offering cows milk but what concerned me is they made it as standard, not on request. Only posting to warn people incase someone made the same mistake and didn’t realise!

Always delicious food! It's tucked away, but is definitely worth a visit. You'll be hooked after the first mouthful. I love and recommend the curry 😋

Food was very tasty and seemed to be doing a fair amount of take aways,unfortunately service was slow,some of us had finished our meals whilst others were still waiting. In contrast people who sat in the cafe next door arrived after us were served their meals and gone whilst we still waited. If you have plenty of time to kill the food is definitely worth the wait.

I love this place! It's a small menu but everything I have had has been well flavoured and the portion size is generous! The staff are friendly and really helpful and I love the little pantry section for picking up some treats or vegan essentials. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lincoln!

Open on a cold windy Sunday during Storm Eunice to serve us weary visitors. The full vegan breakfast was delicious, as was the vegan sausage bap. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Shame it wasn't open on the Monday as we would have eaten there again. Understandably, the staff need a break. Thank you for the food.

Had another absolutely delicious meal today. The presentation is a work of art and the staff are so lovely and the premises so clean. If you are visiting our beautiful city from further afield you really should eat here before you go home.

Absolutely love this place! It's 5 mins from our house so we go quite a lot and every time we go it's such a joy. Food and drinks are amazing and the staff are so welcoming, kind and always smile! :)

SUCH a great find in Lincoln ❤️ Would love to visit again. They took a booking for x9 (+1 dog) at short notice and service was flawless. Food was fresh, colourful and delicious. Pleasant to sit outside on a warm day. A small deli, serves food until around three-thirty. Local produce wherever possible. I recommend the falafel and salad. Generous portion size, never the same twice. Same is true of soup, includes a hefty chunk of bread. Tucked down a side street off Bailgate, easily missed. Contrast Bailgate Deli with the appalling service at Lincoln Cathedral Cafe. But that is the difference between a local family owned business where they care about their reputation and an outsourced operation which does not. Always support local businesses where they care about their reputation and money flows back into the local economy.

Amazing Vegan breakfast and products!

So very impressed. I'm a meat eater, and always wary about the thought of anything pretending to be meat. But oh my wow the burgers here are to die for! The gentleman running it is absolutely lovely, so kind and courteous and helpful. The outside seating area is comfortable, in a good location, but enough out of the way from the hustle and bustle to enjoy your meal in peace Highly recommended gem. (And to the gentleman who served my family, thank you for having us, and helping my partner regain his sugar levels, you quite literally saved the day, and helped our day out end on a high note)

Amazing vegan Mezze. Lovely mezze, good portion sizes, really tasty and recyclable packaging. First time visiting will be regular visitors whenever visiting uphill Lincoln and things return to normal.

They had a good choice of cakes GF ,Vegan and Diary not cheap but they were large and all looked amazing,not eaten yet but I am sure it will be as good as it looks

We’re long-time fans of the deli, always reliable for great and varied vegan food, but yesterday’s thali takeaway merits special mention. Three tasty curries, freshly cooked and with a naan. Generous portions, energy eating in the knees didn’t detract from the experience. Wonderful! Oh and tasty carrot and coriander soup, plus the best brownies in town. Vegan paradise! Thanks so much!

Being a student, and especially being one that doesn’t live off pasta, means that I can’t always afford to eat out. However, after finding this little gem on Instagram, and, coincidentally, my friend suggesting that we go here the day after I found it, we made our way over, after the three of us took a nice long walk around Lincoln! All I can say, is that I highly recommend it, and haven't enjoyed a sit-down meal as much, for a heck of a long time!I enjoyed it that much, that I went back for takeaway just two days later!The bowl in the photo was the Autumnal Bowl, which I believe (I visited well over a month ago) contained Homemade Falafels, Flatbread, Avocado, Hummus, Potatoes, Couscous - All Vegan, 100% tasty, and a very decent price for what you got!

We stumbled across this small restaurant tucked away in Bailgate whist avoiding the crowds. The menu is small but varied enough that we all had different dishes. And the food was absolutely delicious. Non of us are vegetarian/ vegan but we were blown away by the taste and quality of our dishes. The cheese cake was one of the best ever tried. My lunch of flat bread, falafel and vegan feta was amazing. The best meal I have had in a long time.

You don't have to be Vegan to enjoy the best breakfast in Lincoln. 10/10 everytime 👌

Visited here based solely on TA reviews. Wasn't disappointed. The menu isn't extensive - which I always find reassuring (less done well is always better than a lot done quite average). We both had falafel on flatbread which came with an impressive picked cabbage and flavoured shredded carrot on a layer of homous. Was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone looking fo authentic flavours rather than run of the mill sandwich fare.

My wife and I called in for a light breakfast: garlic mushrooms on sourdough toast. Scrumptious. The Deli is tiny but wonderfully proportioned in every way. Veggie and vegan options.
