Baileys Delicatessen in Waveney

Me and my friends are regulars at baileys (see below the many many times I’ve been haha). Absolutely lovely food and friendly staff. Easily the best place to grab a reasonably priced breakfast, a coffee, or some treats to take away in Beccles. Highly recommend the full English or the eggs florentine, my favourite.

First visit today. It's a total pleasure and will definitely be returning.

Calming deli/cafe with friendly service

I was told there were just cleaning a free table upstairs. They completely forgot about me for 15 mins and were sending multiple customers upstairs in front of me. I knew some had booked but a couple of them definitely were walk in, as I heard them asking for a table as they walked in. No one even acknowledged or apologised for the wait. They need a better system for seating customers, especially on a busy Saturday. Luckily, the food is good otherwise it would be a 1 star!

This is a quaint delicatessen. It is very inviting, very clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, our jacket potatoes were on the small size. I would have expected them to be larger for the price. We had tea for 2 and were disappointed that we only had one small teapot between us and not an extra one with hot water in to top the other one up (as other cafés do) We will definitely go back as it was lovely in there. I will just order a different meal. (And ask for a pot of hot water too)

They charged me an extra £3.00 to have 2 teabags in my pot of tea (instead of 1), but didn't tell me beforehand.

Always used the take out deli for their excellent sausage and chutney rolls and their cakes are amazing. The eat in food was fantastic, had cooked breakfast and my wife had something I can't remember... But she loved it. Lovely place will eat here again.

Lovely cafè with a really nice menu choice. Toasties with cheese plus toppings are delicious 😋 Friendly personnel and a great atmosphere. Would recommend you try this place if looking for somewhere to have lunch. Great delicatessen and wine / craft beer choice too.

My wife and I had a delightful lunch. The food was fresh and beautifully presented. My wife had moussaka and I had a ciabatta with chicken and bacon. We were made to feel very welcome, my wife has an intolerance and this was checked on before she ate and this was much appreciated. We shall certainly return. Thank you.

We dropped in for coffee and scone, both were very tasty. Nice decor and atmosphere. Efficient and friendly. We dropped back after a walk and enjoyed a delicious slice of carrot cake and a cuppa.

Staying in Beccles and came across Baileys deli - lovely place, very welcoming. Had cheese scone, carrot cake and bakewell tart. All delicious but felt the bakewell was a little heavy on the almond flavouring and not much jam (although managed to eat it all 😆) 3 cakes, 2 cold drinks and a delicious latte - £20 good value for money, will definitely come again!

Lovely lunch and great staff and surrounding.

Love this place. My friend and I popped in yesterday for a light lunch. We both love their pate and toast! Portions of pate are generous, and we ordered extra toast as from past experience knew we would need it! Lovely cuppa too. Staff friendly and helpful. My only issue was with the toilet door, it was very difficult to open and close, seemed to be catching on the floor. Perhaps a little needs shaving off the bottom of the door? I meant to mention it to a staff member but forgot. Oh yes, some lovely smelling candles, and air fresheners for sale too! We worth a visit!!

When visiting Beccles please check out this Gem of a Restaurant and Delicatessen. Superbly situated at Hungate in the Town with obvious local trade, the establishment owes its success to it’s excellent well turned out staff. We were seated upstairs in the air conditioned loft area, tables are well set out and the whole premises is spotlessly clean, an obvious thumbs up to its 5 star hygiene rating. The food served is of a very high standard, presented in such a way to compliment a Top Chef. I had a pasta dish which was excellent, simply the best accompanied by Penny Bun Bakehouse ciabatta. I wiped the plate clean and would certainly recommend to all. Homemade cakes with cream finished the meal. Do try the Bakewell Tart it’s a joy!

We stumbled across Baileys and what a gem it is! We were seated upstairs (without a reservation) where there is a lovely ambience and air conditioning. All the staff were welcoming and accommodating with our foodie queries. I was impressed with the menu and I have to say my Vietnamese prawn salad was delicious - very tasty and well presented. My friend’s soup was also good. We couldn’t resist a cake as well and a take away sausage roll for the other half! All-in-all, I can highly recommend Baileys - good value, scrumptious food, relaxing ambience and lovely staff. I’m not local but I’ll definitely be back!

Great place to have a coffee or bite to eat

Spent the day in Beccles. Looking for a pit stop for some lunch and found Baileys The shop front is inviting and lovely seating inside. The staff were all friendly. the food did not disappoint. Generous portions and great value for money.

Great place for a meal ,our first visit hopefully not our last. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely sausages and the wife's baked potato was very nice too. Spotlessly clean and great value for money.

I had a breakfast today with a team of us fro. Beccles Food Festival. It is without dout the best breakfast I have had in Beccles. Our table upstairs was spacious, serve unobtrusive but attentive enough for us to be Abe to order and get our meals sharpish. Paul a well seasoned chef it producing the goods here and it shouldn't be missed. 10/10 from me

A year ago I left a 5 star review for their deli. Today's its a 1star and that's only because the tea was hot. Walked in to a near empty cafe although most tables were reserved but no other customers there. Ordered tea and toast. Tea arrives in minutes. Toast.....waited and waited and waited. 15 mins + when it arrived - COLD! Clearly the bread had been toasted and then left to one side. Add it that it was part burnt and the wrong bread.... When paying I wasn't asked if everything was OK so I commented about the toast to be greeted by a blank look on the woman's face but no apology. I alway praise good service and rarely comment on poor.......this was very poor. And for a cup (barely) and two cold pieces of toast the cost was £6.40 Thanks baileys but that was an experience I would forget.

Cycle toured past. Amazing Tunisian orange cake..... So "MOIST" scotch eggs are fabulous as well.

I have eaten in Baileys about 5 times this year and each time I have enjoyed the food. I have had two full breakfasts recently and the taste and quality of the food is much better than other cafes / restaurants I have tried in the Beccles / Lowestoft area for Full English Breakfasts.

Was apprehensive, knowing Bailey's reputation, but was pleasantly surprised at the prices on the menu, was quite slow at getting orders taken, but it was very busy, when our food came it tasted superb, partner was well happy with her bacon baguette, but we were not offered any sauces, waitress put plates down and disappeared, the coffee was immaculate, considering the opposition nearby, scores 10/10 for prices, quality and service

Had a great moussaka with garlic bread and salad, a dish not often on a menu but was really lovely and will definitely visit again. Prices really good too and lovely ambience and lovely staff

The departure of Xavier from the helm could easily have spelled disaster for this popular eating spot. It’s true, his passion for the food of his homeland, will be missed by those who remember him, but Baileys remains one of the top places to eat in a town that punches well above its weight when it comes to places to dine. Whether you opt for their full English, an eggs Benedict or tostada, you are in for a treat. The two ladies in our party, noted the latter dish wasn’t quite as generous as it had been previously, but it remained tasty and a nice alternative to the more traditional items. While we were brunching, on this occasion, the menu has plenty of alternative dishes to cater for lunch and afternoon visitors. The platters, sourced from the shops supplies of meats, breads and pickles are always worth trying. Our group enjoyed a variety of teas and coffees and they the pleasant and unhurried atmosphere, stayed for a further round of drinks and assorted cakes. The town offers bargain basement alternatives, but while we had booked - no bad idea - for 11am, by the time we rolled out the door after running up a bill of around £20 each, we all felt we had probably eaten our main meal of the day. Not bad for brunch!

A wonderful lunch of Mousaka, salad and garlic bread, friendly service, it's busy but I did get a table straight away downstairs and enjoyed the atmosphere and people watching. I'll definitely come again.

What a lovely place Baileys is. My first visit could not have been better. A very warm, genuine welcome greeted me as soon as I set foot through the door. I chose the small English breakfast along with a coffee and sat down at a table by the window. My order arrived in no time. Beautifully presented and simply delicious. Egg, smoked bacon, black pudding, fresh tomato, sausage, hash brown and flat mushroom. This is a very generous sized breakfast and cooked perfectly. Bought a few things from the delicatessen too. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating when my partner arrived concerning food allergies. This was discussed and a small gluten free breakfast was produced including gluten free ciabatta. Thank you, Baileys and here’s to the next time.

Absolutely divine place. Delicious homemade scones and cakes. The menu is varied, good range of meat, vegetarian and vegan lunches. Soup of the day also available. Very reasonable pricing and absolutely lovely staff. The garden at the back is so quaint, lovely decor and relaxing. Will 100% be back and could not recommend thos hidden gem enough! First visit but looking forward to the next.

Visited Baileys on a busy lunchtime. We took a chance on getting a table and were lucky but would recommend booking. We ate ciabatta with meatball marinara & smoked duck salad both of which were delicious and beautifully presented. Amazing value for money and so tasty. Look forward to a return visit.

Lovely to visit this excellent deli in the beautiful town of Beccles. Great service from the lovely ladies. Large selection of fresh breads, cheeses and cooked meats. Eat in or take away. Large range of pickles, chutneys and preserves. Look out for the range of mustards from Tracklements. Quality!

A radio colleague and I dropped into this traditional restaurant/deli/wine shop for a coffee after our meeting. We were greeted and shown to the window table, where our coffees were served promptly. The fare on display looked appetising and I'd have no hesitation in eating there.

We came with a large group of ladies . We were welcomed with friendly services. The afternoon tea was delicious, the only issue I and another member of the group had was that there was not an option of a cold drink apart from water, we don’t drink coffee, tea or hot chocolate . But a cold cordial would have been appreciated. Not everyone drinks hot drinks.

Booked for afternoon tea this afternoon and what a wonderful experience. Staff very helpful from booking and with queries. I am gluten free and the wonderful sandwiches , sausage rolls , scone and delicious cakes were sublime. A real treat and a beautiful selection, very well presented . Well and truly spoilt. Family members had the usual afternoon tea and were equally delighted. Just the right amount to eat and good for the price. Staff attentive and ambience lovely. A perfect way to celebrate and indulgent treat. Will definitely book again in the future and heartily recommend. Have been for drinks and cake and lunches before never disappointed with the quality of food and service. Delicatessen counter has wonderful treats to for on the go or later.

We have used BAILEYS DELICATESSEN many times and my wife and I have to say you will find it difficult to find better. We are in the process of moving home and will only be able to visit on the odd occasion and we now have to find another DELICATESSEN to visit amazing Food, Service and a relaxed atmosphere. We are sure it will be more difficult to find another Deli' than it will be to settle into our new home. To all of BAILEYS LADIES who give great service and a smile THANKYOU

We really fell for the cafe. Four days in Beccles and 3 visits to Baileys. Two lunches were delicious especially the filled baguettes - well filled and scrumptious. Good atmosphere, a busy place and lovely staff too.

The pricing seemed a little on the high side but it is Beccles and I rarely eat out. I opted for a vegan tostada just to try a twist on something I enjoy, the food and service was exemplary. I will definitely return.

Delicious freshly prepared food, great service, well spaced seating, clean toilet plus a deli counter of gorgeous treats to take home too. Oh and reasonable prices too! Love this place.
