Baildon Fisheries in Bradford

Since this previously fabulous fisheries changed ownership it has gone downhill. The last two deliveries we had were rubbish, the batter was poor quality and the chips were refried. We are so disappointed that this once brilliant fisheries has now deteriorated so badly. Come on, new owners, get a grip, we Yorkshire people want proper top quality Yorkshire fish n chips like we used to get from charlestown fisheries

5.30 Saturday: Just bought fish, chips and peas from this once 5 star fish and chip shop. Extremely disappointed: if I could could give it no stars I would - abysmal!!!

This place has gone from 5 star to 1 star since it changed owners. We will not be back

Ordered battered sausages and there was no batter left on them once opened it all had fallen off. Curry sauce very watery. Not as good as in past. Not sure why?!

Absolutely shocking! Looked like it had been thrown in the box, stone cold mushy peas that tasted disgusting, fish was dry and tasteless and sliced really thin, chips tasted like they had been reheated, chip butty with hardly any chips!! Such a shame that new owners have come in and not carried on how a successful chippy was operated!!

They are only open for a couple of hours on an evening. So you have to go early. They never fail to impress. Beautiful flaky fish and crispy batter. They also give a discount if you pay cash. But happily take card payments too

Having lived in Baildon for five years we can categorically say that these are the best fish and chips weve ever had. The fish is chunky and meaty, the batter is beautifully light and crispy and the chips are delicious. Always top quality and excellent service

I never leave google reviews but the fish and chips we've had from here recently have been so nice, really good big chunky haddock and light crispy batter - so good I felt compelled to leave a review!

Not sure when exactly but the ownership of this chip shop changed recently and the food is now amazing! We've had fish and chips from here a few times before and they have been ok but since the change over they have become amazing! Everything is cooked really fresh and the portion sizes are very good! Chips are cooked well and not greasy like others can be. Don't think we'll be ordering from anywhere but here in the future, would definitely recommend!

Had f&c here a few times recently. It’s always fresh and done in clean oil, not greasy, good portions . Delivery was also efficient

I live abroad so always look forward to fish and chips when back visiting family, and our takeaway from Baildon Fisheries last night didn't disappoint. I had the light meal, small fish and small chips, which was fab, great portion size and very tasty. Parents had fish and a cake, and we all shared mushy peas and curry sauce. It was all superb, thank you.

We received our order today granted it arrived just after 5pm having made a preorder at 3:30pm. When we received them they were just warm!. We were very disappointed with our order this time sorry to say.

Last week,when the power supply had been outed by the storm.we sent out for fish and chips,they were delivered and arrived hot and crisp,and were a taste sensation! So thank you for that.So impressed was I,that I wanted to try Baildon Fisheries again just to be sure they were as good as I thought they were.They were not ! If anything they were even better,so congratulations to you, and very well done.

Baildon Fisheries consistently deliver the best fish n chips by a country mile. Performance and helpfulness through lockdown has also been exemplary. Online booking for collection or local delivery - the food is always freshly prepared an absolutely the best to be had in Baildon. Looking forward to this Fridays order!

The best fish and chips in Baildon and they have been delivering since before the pandemic. The "mini meal" is great value for those with great taste but a slightly smaller appetite!

Superb fish n chips tonight, the best I’ve had for a long time

We've been eating from Baildon Fisheries since opening, this year taking advantage of their delivery service. Friday is our day. Delivery has only been late once all year - and that's understandable on occasion so I wouldn't berate them for that. Such is life. The thing that most stands out for us is their batter. It is so light and whatever they cook in suits us too. Other 'chippies' had us feeling 'yukky' the next day. Portions are more than adequate also - what's not to like?! Full marks all round from us....off to make our usual order.

Lovely food! But it’s a shame that the delivery service is so slow. Very disappointed. We ordered online an hour before the chosen delivery slot and it was still 20 minutes late. Online deliveries should be prioritised over walk ins. They didn’t contact me to inform they were running behind. When I rang to see what was happening I struggled to get through after listening to their long introductory message about opening times. Didn’t apologise on the phone when I did finally get through to someone either. We will just stick to Webster’s !

Nothing is ever too much, even phoning to check I can order ten mins before closing as I’m greedy and just needed fish and chips! Lee and his team are all so polite and the service is next to none, the food is always fresh,delicious and piping hot, I will always recommend and would not deter from Baildon Fisheries! Have used for many years and will continue to use for many years! One of the very few places I can honestly say I’ve never had any bad experience. What’s more outstanding with Baildon Fisheries is their services during the pandemic and still serving many families in timely manners. Superstars!!!!

Best Fish and Chips we have tried for a long time it was our first time but won't be our last.

Called and ordered the easiest order fish chip sausage curry sauce. Got home no sausage. Chips only nearly cooked. Curry sauce that thick I couldn't pour from tub and to top it off clap cold. What's happened to this fish shop. Total rubbish for good money paid. Thrown in bin.

FOLLOW UP REVIEW FROM PREVIOUS REVIEW: Started visiting again and quality is back up where it should be and used to be - started using again regularly and really pleased with service and quality again. Recommending to friends and family again, good portions and great quality - thanks Lee. Started off really well, but the last few visits have been average at best. Average portion size and average quality - sometimes seem a little over done. For some of the people serving, it just seems a chore for them to be serving - service with a smile please and be more aware about the quality.

We have had dinner from here at least once a week and it arrives piping hot and delicious on time would recommend to anyone one who has a taste bud to have this.

Made the weekly trip to our favourite fish and chip shop a couple of weeks ago, was served by the woman with curly hair that fry’s the food. Absolutely appalled by the service I was given, rude and snobby comments made by her whilst I was ordering and been given my food. Absolute disgrace to the team. Will not be coming back and will be recommending everyone I know to go to a different place. The woman needs sacking!

Just ordered our fish and chips and had them delivered and have to say both myself and my husband thought they were lovely, generous portion plenty of scraps, we tried the irish curry which was very tasty we also tried the homemade tartare sauce and this was also very nice we will definitely order again 👍

Absolutely beautiful food. I was a little sad when they closed the restaurant as I live at the top of the hill and don't drive. I am absolutely delighted they now deliver so me and my children can enjoy the best fish and chips in baildon.

The " Special"s are really special!

As a fairly regular visitor to this takeaway I have only been disappointed once when the fish was not cooked to order. Visited this evening and was asked how many fish I wanted on arrival, cooked to order outstanding quality and friendly staff. I’m fortunate that I can walk to this place but would not hesitate in recommending anyone to drive and experience great fish and chips.

I remember Baildon fisheries when you were served by a nice pleasent smiley lady and the great quality fish and chips were a pleasant alternative to the overpriced warm ups sold at Websters. But alas, as with a lot of things nowadays, the quality has nosedived... Gone is the nice smiley lady, replaced by surly teenagers... Gone is the superb food and gone is that little eat in Cafe... I suppose it's down to lower Baildon, or Doyles in Shipley now.

Scrappy looking chips, full of grease and then more. Fish was OK, not great but OK. The women in front of me had much fresher looking chips. Not the first time they have been like this. Wont use again

My first time here and I was incredibly impressed. Quick service during a busy period and a happy smiling young lady at the counter. I had scollops which until now I had only thought of as fish things. But turns out they are a potato based dish as well, who knew? (Probably everyone but me :) ) Chips were gorgeous with a light fluffy inside and a crispy outside. This is going to be a regular haunt for me from this point on.

Has to be Baildons premier fish and chip shop. Spotless inside and pleasant staff. Quality is second to none. Very tasty and reasonably priced. 10/10

We have been using Baildon Fisheries for quite some time now and I don't think they have ever let us down. The team have always been friendly and helpful. The food has always been good. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We often use Baildon fisheries as they are by far, better than any other around here, they need a michelin star compared to the other fish shop at the top of Baildon.Everything cooked to order, batter on the fish is light and crispy with the chips solid and chunky. Portions are more than adequate with a manager that listens sympathetically to any issues you have.The place is spotless and the young staff are all polite and very helpfull. Great Chippy with a varied menu. Please keep up the fantastic standards!!!

A few months ago we used to call regularly for our F&C The lady behind the counter was so smiley & friendly..Not sure where she is now, but currently it seems to be staffed by slightly surley, non communicative teenagers...Please smile & chat a bit, it makes a world of difference.

Visited Baildon fish shop with a group of 12, for my daughters birthday party meal. I did pre arrange the sitting a few days before and ordered the meals an hour up front before we arrived. It turned out to be a great venue, simple ideas are all ways the best. Brought our own cake and candles, full success all round. Since then we have been back with a local rugby team and again another successful outing. Would highly recommend for a venue, it's amazing how many it can seat and parents can always use the overflow area outside. Looking forward to grabbing a takeaway soon!

Always get our fish n chips from here. They are lovely. The fish is always cooked perfectly (goes right to the end of the batter ) and the chips are perfect, not all soggy and greasy like other places serve! The only time we had some chips that were a little on the cool side we were given free fish and chips next time - can’t say fairer than that - but that was just once in many visits. Not had any of the other options as the fish n chips are so good we can’t bring ourselves to go for anything else!

Absolutely love this fish shop. Beautiful white flaky fish cooked to order, which you don’t mind waiting the 5 minutes for it to be cooked as it’s best chippy in Baildon and believe me we have tried many.If you don’t want to wait you could ring your order in. Delish Deloo!

Baildon Fisheries is a clean, friendly, local fish and chip shop. They offer an affordable choice of food for people old and young. I'd highly recommend paying this smiling bunch a visit and try out some of their combo deals!

An overall decent fish and chip shop. It's not the best in the area, but it's convenient and still nice food, plus the staff are friendly.

I make sure I get a takeaway from here every time I come back home to Baildon from London.The fish and chips are hot, fresh, tasty and in big portions. All add-ons and extras are also tasty and good value. Staff are always nice and friendly and it's clean and tidy inside. nothing at all to complain about! Wish they could open a branch down in London :)
