Babur in Lewisham

Came here and enjoyed the tasting menu with my best friend and our husbands and had an amazing time, the food was glorious, made to perfection and presented beautifully. Also tried the signature cocktails, the flavour combinations blew our minds. I love this gem of a restaurant, can't wait to go back!

Words cannot explain how good this place is. Food and drinks are simply sublime and can only be matched by the service.

Love this restaurant for unique yet tasty Indian foods. You get plenty in a portion, and they also do tasting menus so you can try a bit of everything. I will return!

Delicious tasting menu with excellent service

Babur is fantastic - surely the best Indian restaurant in south London. On each visit (I’ve been five times) I’ve tried a different meal and each has been amazing. The service is friendly and super-efficient too. Honestly cannot recommend highly enough.

Went for the Sunday buffet which was good but the lamb and egg curry was extremely weird. It seemed like a lamb scotch egg which disintegrated into mush in the sauce. I’m very confused by this dish. The mocktails on the other hand were seriously incredible. I ordered the mint cooler and told my friends to take a sip and they all immediately ordered their own since it was so delicious.

We had the tasting menu and all the the dishes were surprisingly bland. Not a lot of textural difference in the food (all quite soft without contrast) and the meat was poorly cooked/tough/overcooked across the board. Given how good the reviews are we were pretty surprised but it was our least favorite Indian meal while in london.

One of my all time favourite restaurants. Went straight to the top of a long list of Indian restaurants I have eaten over the last 50 years. The lamb Biryani is served in a beautiful ceramic pot and when you lift the lid the sented aroma engulfs you. Heaven! Staff were very proud of their food and very attentive

We had the most amazing Holi dinner at Babur! Bollywood dancing and a Menü designed together with Masterchef finalist Anurag Aggarwal! Well done to a fantastic team at Babur! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great food great cocktails and great service

Just moved into the area; called earlier and as per the info on google, was told they’re open until 11pm. Walked 20 minutes especially to come for a beer and a couple of starters to check it out, and on arriving at 10.33pm, was told by a rude man that they were closed and that was that. Ridiculous! Not on really, and fair to say we won’t ever be ordering any food from here. Change your hours on google and inform your staff to be honest with customers would be my advice.

As always, the food was sooooo delicious and the service impeccable!! Can thoroughly recommend the tasting menu. A really good choice of items on their main menu, can also recommend the Sunday buffet!! There is a reason why Babur wins awards, come check it out yourself.

We are locals and have eaten at Babur a handful of times; we’re always impressed with the quality of the dishes, the service and the ambience! The food is so imaginative and so tasty. The extensive menu means there is really something for everyone. We will of course be back!

Really lovely food, great cocktails. Highly recommend. We had the Saffron Gimlets and the venison curry so delicious.

Delicious food and atmosphere. I enjoyed the free poppadoms and chutneys. The chicken biryani and lamp chops were delicious. Saffron gimlet cocktail was not too sweet or sour - just right.

Fantastic!! Wonderful restaurant with warm welcoming staff team and incredible food. Everything we ordered was delicious but the malai chicken starter and the venison hunter curry were standout. There’s so many reasons we keep going back to Babur!!

The food was incredible, as was the service. Get the monkfish and the crispy potatoes. The lamb chop is also unbelievable. Unexpected, but true, their cocktails are great. I’m a Texan and I know margaritas, the pomegranate margarita was one of the best I’ve ever had.

My favorite Indian restaurant in London. Food is always lovely there. The Sunday buffet does not represent the usual standard of food, but it is a good budget option to try there. We went there for Valentine's. The food was great, but the wine pairing was the best. I enjoyed all the wines that I got the try.

Can’t believe I’ve lived a 40 min walk from Babur for over a year and hadn’t tried it out! Dinner was fantastic, the saufiyani paneer was the best I’ve ever had, like eating flavourful, heavenly little clouds. (I also loved the Vegetarian Thali & currytini!)

Michelin star dining in south east London! Veggie tasting menu was perfection and service was first class. Would recommend the currytini (gin, chilli martini)!

Very bad service, food is nice but not the expected Indian food experience, so disappointed not to have a choice there. Our bill was almost £600 and no courtesy of the house was offered!! Besides, we were celebrating a 70th birthday for our friend.

Had a wonderful dining experience this evening. Ask for Phil. He's marvellous. Elephantine memory, very personable, and a low key sybarite. Lovely guy even warned me off the stem ginger and honey kulfi when I mentioned mild lactose intolerance. Go for the trio of sorbets if you're similarly afflicted. Temperature was perfect in the Rajasthani tent. Diners chatting quietly and unobtrusive music set the scene for a fantastic local grown up night out. Try these dishes... Lamb kebab starter Quail starter Slow cooked lamb with steamed rice Chocolate gelato Trio of sorbets (orange, raspberry, and mango) Sliced potatoes with mango powder Absolutely loved our evening out. Please tip as well as you're able. The waiting staff go the extra mile for you and deserve the recognition. We spent around £60.00 per head for 3 courses, 1 beer, 1 Brandy and 1 rum, while it's not that inexpensive, you'll be treated to an innovative menu that'll have you yearning to try the dishes you had to leave behind. We willl visit again. What choice do we have? The crab dumplings, Rajasthani saddle of rabbit, griddled Scallops, baby aubergines with peanut sauce all call to my palate.

First came to Babur some ten years ago. It’s just as special a decade on, with the same lovey service.

The food was delicious as ever. We tried their tasting menu and it was superb and the service was impeccable. We were seated in the covered garden area which was cold initially but warmed up and was comfortable. The cocktail was also very good. I would definitely recommend a visit to Babur.

Food is very authentic. Amazing flavours and combinations. Meat is cooked very well and everything is freshly made. Would definitely recommend the lamb chops as a starter and the chicken Chennai for main if you like spice!

Dinner at Babur is always a treat. The gin and tonic was perfect but the vegetable thali was a little disappointing. Lovely flavours but no heat! Where was the chilli rush I craved?! Staff were very accommodating of our Birthday needs...

One of the best Indian meals I’ve had in a long time! Great selection, definitely not your usual dishes and decent pricing. Can’t fault the swordfish tikka or the black dahl (better than Dishoom’s!). Will def be back to try out more of the menu!

The food is incredible. The taste and texture combinations excellent. I had the vegetarian 4 course menu and each course was special in its own way. The food is complimented by excellent and friendly staff and an atmosphere to match. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful meal here, having the 5 course tasting menu. Each course was incredible, brillaint flavours and presentation. They were all the finest meats, fishes and dishes of their menu; which is not always the case for tasting menus. On top of the amazing food, we had brilliant service by the super attentive staff who were so friendly! We also had a complimentary starter/ tasting dish, a post dinner drink and chocolate. From a cost perspective it was very well priced, with none of the food being over priced and still coming away very full and happy! The best indian in London by a mile!

An outrageous gem in south east London. We’re lucky to have Babur on our doorstep but I implore you to travel from wherever to get try it out. We had a brilliant tasting menu for an incredibly reasonable price as well as a few drinks. Get there ASAP.

My partner and I just moved to the neighbourhood, and popped in for dinner on a Monday night. We were blown away! The food, service and atmosphere are all exceptional, I give this restaurant my highest recommendation. We plan to return for our anniversary next week (and hopefully regularly for the foreseeable future)!

The food was good, not necessarily worth the price in my opinion but still good for a night out or special occasion. We had the biryani, duck, baingan, and a few other dishes and drinks. The drinks were pretty great and I would recommend those. The service was lovely as well!

Babur is easily my favourite Indian restaurant I've ever been to, and is one of my favourite restaurants of all time. The service is exceptional and you are looked after from beginning to end. Across the restaurant business, service has gone by the wayside but is a refreshing emphasis at Babur who take great attention to care in everything they do. The food is not just your usual selection, the dishes are elevated with a delicate balance of spices and flavours, that make them extremely light and succulent. I had the monkfish tail but tried other dishes in our group and everything was delicious. The same goes for their drinks, a huge selection and delicately balanced flavours, they bring India to the drinks which I haven't experienced before. I absolutely recommend the Darjeeling Mist or Saffron Gimlet. I've been for an evening a-la-Carte menu and also the Sunday buffet. Both amazing and family friendly no less. It is no surprise they are in the Michelin guide and I can't wait to visit again soon.

I've eaten here quite a few times and it has always been great!

A staple for our family. Amazing food, service and atmosphere when we go on dates (young couple), with our two small kids or with the whole gang (8-10). Been a go to for my fiancée's family since the 80s, and for good reason. We love Babur!

Not authentic but relatively ok food. However, terrible customer service. Very much geared towards only serving one particular ethnic group so don't expect good quality service if black or Asian. They will completely miss you and you will have to keep chasing them for a glass of water. But you are expected to pay a service charge for the lovely racism and ablelism. Giving them two stars for the food and food only. There are better Indian restaurants out there in London which aren't racist or ablelist. Also note they serve pangus fish.

Delish food. First night out in 6 months and it was worth it.

Great food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend the slow cooked lamb in any dish and vegetarian dishes. Well priced too and some lovely cocktails, lots of variety. The outdoor tent setting is lovely and very toasty. Definitely will go back and my only comment is I hope they get some better NA beer instead of just Heineken!

Visited for their special National Curry Week menu. What a wonderful place. Great cocktails to start off the meal and sumptuous food. Well worth the trip! See you again soon xx
