Baboush in Southend-on-Sea

Came this evening around 4pm what amazing staff and delicious food! I am definitely coming back. Thanks so much.

If you are living in Essex or coming for a visit to leigh on sea or Southend sea front from London , then Baboush is your place to eat . In walking distance from Chalkwell train station , you can easily have a nice meal and head back to London or stop at Leigh on sea station and have another stroll in Old Leigh . The food at Baboush is always fresh and high standard. The starters are even better than the actual starters in Istanbul. The desserts are also freshly prepared and the main meal doesn’t come short off quality and presentation. The staff are all friendly and attentive . Can’t recommend Baboush enough , even for take away which we always get for our Hair Transplant patients

It's been a while since I went out for a date and this place definitely lives up to its reputation i highly recommended to everyone and anyone for any occasion really friendly staff really good vibe great atmosphere will most definitely be going back and would definitely say it's in my top 5 places to go so don't look at any other restaurant check these guys out you definitely won't be disappointed ..moverall it has been one off my best nights out. In a long time 100%

Gorgeous food - lovely decoration - service isn't great - the staff are friendly and helpful - more the time it takes when busy and forgets items ordered - staff are lovely but wasn't happy with wait time - also the DJ I have to say wasn't good at all - no atmosphere to have a cocktail and dance after dinner - but 5* food and 5* staff!

Beautiful restaurant. The food and cocktails are amazing. The staff were friendly and catered for intolerance and allergens . The restaurant has a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere with superb decor. We highly recommend it for anyone having a party or a special event as a couple or small group.

OMG been many places to eat but have to say best turkish restaurant I’ve experienced went for a birthday was made to feel so welcome whether it was from to the the two brothers behind the bar who were cocktail kings to the waiter and waitress we was made to feel so welcome and even the manager MO what a geezer came over making sure everything was ok highly recommend this place 💯 thank you all at baoush for making a good evening for me and my friends

It’s ridiculously overpriced. If you charge top money then you have to deliver top food and experience. This is London money for nice but unmemorable Turkish food. The 4 of us were sat on a small coffee table in an awkward space for dinner. It felt as if the waitress was constantly trying to upsell rather than attend, I didn’t feel at ease with the staff. I found the decor tacky and overbearing, done with Instagram in mind. Not for me.

Food was a excellent, nice atmosphere. What I noticed some waitresses (ladys) shut have better dresse code, it looks like from the a street straight in restaurant.

I had a lovely meal and drinks here, the service was outstanding and the food was excellent.

Come here for my mums birthday. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. It’s a little pricey but the food is great, the decor is lovely and the service is very good. So overall nice Turkish restaurant

Me and my husband came here for our anniversary tonight 14/11/2023 the food was amazing,the service outstanding they even presented us with small pastries with ice cream with a large sparkler in the middle for our anniversary.Thankyou to Mo and all the staff it was a lovely evening we would highly recommend it and we will definitely be back. We were a group of friends that ordered set meal but bit disappointed as it was not enough food, but food was very nice. All in all good

We just finished a really wonderful lunch here and everything was lovely. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the atmosphere and restaurant was stunning. Their lunch deal is a fab offer and you get a choice of starters, mains and desserts, plus a glass of prosecco, wine or soda. I had the hummus, chicken iskender and finished a lemon ice and it was all amazing. The restaurant itself is beautiful and I loved the black and gold features throughout. The service was amazing and we loved how friendly and kind everyone was. They were all attentive and it was a wonderful experience. If you're in the area, definitely check it out! :)

Great food, great location and great service.

The restaurant is nicely decorated. The owner was very nice and was happy to accommodate us. One of the things that led me to give an OK rating was the service provided by the waitress serving us. It seemed like she wasn't bothered to deal with us but yet was happy to accommodate other customers. We asked her for 2 things and both times, she failed to help us. And then when the food came, it was good but what let it down was the way it was served. We were given small rectangular plates to from which wasn't suitable - it was a real struggle to eat from.

An upstairs space for larger bookings, seated at a long table so not that sociable. Had to go to the bar for drinks which is awkward when you're tucked in the middle of the table! Food was delicious though and staff very friendly.

The food and service was amazing, drinks are a bit pricey, but well worth a visit, probably the best lamb I've had in a Turkish restaurant.

I booked Baboush to celebrate a speicial family birthday and it was a fantastic enjoyable meal and experience. Gigi, who was assigned to look after our group, could not have done more from arranging the balloons on the table, making a few changes to menu choices to making the children in the party feel welcome. A definite recommendation from me. Thank you, Baboush!

Very special place, great food, lovely decor. Feels exclusive and indulgent. We go for our anniversary or valentine's every year. Can't describe how much we enjoy it. Excellent food, great service and distinctive quality.

The food was bang in, very helpful staff and quality cocktails. Yeh it's expensive but it is of a high standard and good quality. Upstairs is open so it's hard to engage in any conversation.

I eat a lot of Turkish and this is the best quality I've experienced. You know it's good because you eat the side salad first. Really high quality stuff. Lunchtime deal is a bargain and one of these days I'm going to take advantage of the 2 for 1 cocktail deal because they look as good as the food.

First time trying baboush and definitely won’t be coming back absolutely poor service compared to other Turkish restaurants was made wait multiple times. Cocktails overpriced and full of ice.I had chicken shish that was drier than a mouthful of sand while being burnt around the edges. Never asked once if food was okay and When I complained they didn’t seem to care at all and just took the discretionary charge offf the bill and walked off. Appalling behaviour

I was sceptical about visiting a Turkish restaurant as the last time I had a Chicken Sis I had a bad anaphylaxis reaction. However it was a large group booking so I decided to go and speak to the staff at the restaurant and I can happily say there was no eye rolling and they took it very seriously (unlike other restaurants I have visited). They made me fresh bread for the Starter as I cannot eat any of the starters and a beautiful fillet steak for main. They went above and beyond reassuring me and always double checking that I could eat the ingredients and even telling me of cross contamination. I will definitely be returning. The food was also amazing.

Went to Baboush mid week for a family member birthday celebration 🍾 It was quieter than I expected but nice all the same Shame they don't have larger tables as they had put small curved ones together so it felt like sitting far from table. Food was lovely, good portions but a little over priced in my opinion as I have had just as nice food at cheaper priced Turkish restaurants. Good thing about Wednesday is you can your own bottle of wine or bubbly along with you so that saves a bit on bill. I would recommend Baboush however, as it was nice for a special occasion.

Visited with about 18 others for future daughter-in-laws hen night. Had a lovely meal, sea food sis, it was delicious. The prawns had some sort of oil, a dressing, & were absolutely smashing. The whole meal, which consisted of prawns, salmon & monk fish plus salad & potatoes, was good but the prawns were the best. This was followed by chocolate profiteroles & boy were they chocolatey, this from a well-known chocoholic!! The music supplied by a DJ was good, not too loud but loud enough sham they haven't got room for some dancing. The whole evening went really well & can thoroughly recommend.

A perfect lunch after a morning on the beach! This restaurant is amazing, very clean, rich decor, good quality food, big portions !! Very impressed with service Great prices, friendly staff.. Will most definitely visit again

We moved from Brentwood a couple of years ago. In Brentwood you are spoiled for choice with three really good Turkish places. Baboush is better than all three of them and the only decent place to get Turkish in the whole of Southend as far as we're concerned.

One of our fav local restaurants, love their lunch deal for the afternoon turk, lots of food and great quality. Friendly staff and good choice of cocktails but a little pricey

If there was a zero star I would award that! The noisiest restaurant I have ever been to in my life. You could not even have a conversation, be warned if you are in a small party this is not the place to go. Food very disappointing, over priced, not a patch on other Turkish restaurants we have visited. Ended our night early just to get out. Raised with management who couldn’t care less. Decor looking tired and shabby, wouldn’t go back if it was free!

Have been to Baboush several times now and it never fails to disappoint. Service was excellent as was the food, even though it was a little pricey!! As usual, we had a really great time and the atmosphere was also lively for a Wednesday evening. Thoroughly recommend the restaurant.

Had a booking for 16 people for a 50th birthday celebration. Even speaking on the phone with staff before the day, I found them to be really helpful and professional. The staff at the restaurant on the day were so friendly, welcoming and accommodating, one of the staff members bought the birthday girl a drink! We were sat upstairs where they have more of a party atmosphere and it was so much fun! Food was delicious and served quickly - couldn’t fault it! Cake was brought out at the perfect time with all candles and sparkler fountains on it. Music and DJ was great all night long, everybody loved it and had a really enjoyable evening. Would definitely recommend. We will be returning! Thank you.

Went here for lunch with four friends celebrating birthdays. We had the lunch Turk set menu, and it was gorgeous, plenty of food, a great atmosphere, and will definitely be visiting again. Friendly attentive staff, well worth a visit 👍🏻 excellent value for money...well done all 😋

My friend hosted an immaculate charity event at baboush, the food was wonderful. Attention to presentation was great despite it being a set menu. Enjoyable over all. The staff were wonderful & pleasant. The mocktails were enjoyable. Definitely recommend.

Unfortunately our party of four had a shocking experience. Out of the eight dishes we had, only one was ok. Fortunately the staff were friendly and helpful and the bill was adjusted accordingly. But based on this experience we won't be going back.

By far the worst treatment I have ever had in a restaurant, I visit baboush on 28th of April, I wrote to Baboush managements on facebook, Private message , to give them an honest feedback both good and back. also send them the review on there facebook page.Their respond is shocking. I accused me of being a fake visitor and fake review. I called Babooush today and the manager told me why we didnt complaint and we said things were okay. I told her no everyone like to complain and we thought its best just to bite the bullet and go home. instead write to them, prime example of how weird this menu was: Mix grill for two you get one lamb chop , question how do i share on lamb chop for two? do i take a bite and pass it on? as you can see this is not a fake review. my bank statement and picture of my meal. that dish cost's £28!! a short trip to Wood Green and you can clearly see how overpriced this is.All that aside to ignore and block a costumers review and calling them fake review is the worst part of this experience, even when I called to confront the manager, she was more bothered why I didnt complain while I was there! instead of being apologetic and sincere. this is so sad as I travelled from Canada on that day and I was really looking forward to this place. Dishonest, Aggressive and rather strange place, felt intimidated by the manager on the phone, her attitude.

We came here for dinner the other night. Positive things included the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. They also clearly put a lot of effort into the look and feel of the place - they've gone for a lavish theme. In terms of the food, we were disappointed, partially due to the price point. At £12 per cocktail and £25 per main, we were expecting the taste, creativity and presentation to be above average. But they were no better and, in some cases, not as good as what we've had in other, far more reasonably priced Turkish restaurants. Another irritation was the music - as the night went on, it got progressively louder, presumably to encourage you to go upstairs after dinner to the dancefloor, but all it did in reality was make it harder to have a conversation. All in all we had a fun night, and I'm glad we experienced it, but I can't say I'm keen to return here. If the quality of the food had matched the bill at the end, it would be a different story, but as it is, I'm not keen to come back here.

Food is quite pricey but it does always taste good. There is always a lovely atmosphere.

The decor was as sumptuous as the food...very atmospheric. Staff were very attentive and ensured we had a lovely evening. They have special offers on certain days so it's worth planning ahead. Facilities for disabled are also provided. Limited parking.

Came across this online and wow what a find!! Two of us came out for a birthday lunch and had the meze . Service was attentive with an authentic pride in the food and it felt like a real treat! Would recommend this to anyone for a causal or more formalp dinning. Great variety of food that tasted fabulous!

Great evening at Baboush to celebrate a birthday! Staff were extremely friendly and efficient (which they have been on every previous visit as well) Food was amazing, the Sucuk, Humus Kavurma and Sticky Lamb are some of the best I have had in any Turkish restaurant and the portions are generous. Always a very warm welcome by the manager and the whole staff and this will continue to be our 'go to' Turkish in the area.

We had a lovely meal, nice and tender meat. The waitress was really friendly and attentive. Would recommend, cant wait to go back 👍.

Service was excellent very friendly waitresses; however I did not enjoy my ribeye steak. It was very chewy and full of gristle. When I complained I have been told that I have selected wrong type of steak. Chips were excellent. Overall it was a disappointing night out for me.

Food was good but very pricey for what it was, service was great with very attentive staff, the lamb was excellent.

Great place for Father's Day Lunch

Celebrated my 50th birthday there on Saturday. Such a great restaurant, food was delicious and plenty of it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a little dance at the end of the evening, such great tunes too. Thank you

Visited here to celebrate my friends 24th birthday. We had an amazing time! The service was incredibly professional and friendly, and the food was to die for. Once finished we were invite up to the upstairs bar for a drink, and the atmosphere was really lovely and joyful. Quite expensive all round, but it’s fair to say you get what you pay for, and it was a treat dinner so it wasn’t a big deal. Overall a great time, would 100% come back!

Nice venue food come out to quick

This place has a great atmosphere with an upstairs bar doing great cocktails and a singer when we were there. Felt like it was 'buzzing'. Unfortunately I wasn't 100percent, so they probably deserve better than 4 star, but I didn't enjoy my meal. I'd go back but make sure I skipped the starters and concentrated on main course as there was a lot of it.
