Lovely cafe with some upstairs seating. Friendly staff and a great flat white

Went in for a quick drink sitting in. The cookie was nice, the coconut smoothie was nice although as bit thick in consistency. But I do feel that it’s a shame that the smoothie was served in a plastic cup with a plastic lid. I would hope that coffee places use proper glass and cutlery when sitting in. That does put me off as I do try and reduce my plastic consumption.

The food is normal quality.... They use some frozen food, the quantity is not great compared to the price... The workers are very attentive and pleasant but they lack staff cos the service is veeeeery slow... Good atmosphere upstairs... I don't think it's a good place overall.

Many moons ago I was part of the PGT massive. Would have loved to have a place like this back then. Great quality food and lovely staff. Long live Baba Rista! X

Very cute little place. Coffee is good, service is great and it’s an easy place to go for a quick meal.

tasty! The cheese and ham on the sandwich are delicious, and the bread is also very fragrant. The eggs Benedict were delicious and cooked just right. The soup is also delicious. Even though I don’t like sweet potato soup, I still think it tastes good. My friends who ate it with me also liked it.

Cafe is very nicely decorated and has a lot of nice natural light coming in. Food is 10/10, staff is friendly :)) will love to come back again!

Such a friendly, welcoming, little place offering so much more than just coffee and service with a smile. Delicious vegan homemade soup, the most amazing brioche buns which are a meal in themselves, or delicious freshly prepared to order with your favourite breakfast/lunch fillings. Tiny place yet surprisingly spacious feeling if you have time to sit upstairs, enjoy the perfect cafe music and superfast wifi while you watch the customers below grabbing and going.

One of the best breakfast experience un my life. The sourdough bread and the Bueno cookies literally impossible to describe how perfect they were. Highly recommended!

The coffee is great, the food a bit pricy. The issue is the cleanliness... The toilet is filthy, looks like it has not been cleaned in ages! There is dust and mold, I didn't even want to wash my hands in this place. Horrible.

Won’t return, soup was nice but who can afford £4.50 for takeaway soup? Not many people ! I understand cost of living crises but it’s just way to much

Fantastic coffee. Had a great soup and sandwich combo with a smoothie, everything was 10/10.

The food was great, coffee as well plus we had the best cookies ever (!!!) filled with kinder bueno and milkyway.

Ordered a smoothie and latte at the front counter and they brought it upstairs for us while we did some planning. Small comfortable seating upstairs and the food looked great. Lots of options and always a nice spot to stop in for something hot or cold!

Delicious food and friendly, efficient staff. The rhubarb porridge is exactly the right mix of sweet and hearty - don’t miss it!

Lovely atmosphere, adored the wee high quality food products (smoked paprika powder, pastas etc) to browse on the shelfs while I was waiting on my smoothie, which was absolutely delicious! Nice service too, highly recommend!☺️

Melt in your mouth roll, it had a buttery taste and airy, light texture to the bread, was amazing. Can choose any combination of brekky roll items and a coffee for £5. Both coffee and roll were delicious.

Absolutely outstanding service today from the woman who took our order. We said we'd share a hot chocolate and pastry, and not only did she cut the pastry in half but she went well above and beyond, separating the hot chocolate into two small cups, made perfectly with their own whipped cream and marshmallows! Such a kind touch when they were actually reasonably busy! Then the salted caramel hot chocolate was absolutely delicious and the perfect temperature. I'll definitely try a coffee there next time especially if I see her serving again. It has a nice atmosphere upstairs too. I think the pastry was only "ok" and a little pricy but it was nice enough and the cafe is easily worth recommending. Only sorry we didn't have any change for a tip this time - will make it up next time! Thanks again, kind hot chocolate lady.

The best coffee in Edinburgh and Maia is the friendliest, most warm person I have met in ages! They love our dog and she eagerly awaits her morning walks to come in and have a treat (to the point where she waits outside the door on Sundays) 😅 Food is also great, I can't think of anything I tried that I didn't like. ❤️

This is a lovely little cafe placed near Meadowbank.it has been open over a year...lovely carry out food and it has a lovely little seated area upstairs..Great choice of sweet and savoury food.Valerie Clapton

I've walked past Baba Rista loads of times, always thinking that I need to go in sometime as the location looks really attractive and inviting. Popped in today to grab a wee coffee pick me up and can say it's a very good coffee to go! I'll need to go back for some breakfast at some point.

Friendly service and great coffee. App-based rewards scheme saves on carrying a loyalty card too. And despite what google maps say it’s not cash only!

Then get along here asap. Lovely friendly and polite staff. They also now stock a fantastic selection of food items. I recommend the chickpeas!

I use this deli/coffee shop regularly as I work in the area. It's always bustling - which is a great sign. The food is freshly-made and the service is friendly. The area upstairs has a lovely chilled vibe and is a great place to eat lunch and chat with friends.

The croissants and coffee are always good. On my way out today I dropped a pastry I had bought to take out. The kind staff spotted this and immediately gave me a replacement for free (he wouldn't accept payment). Friendly, serving good food, and generous. An absolute win.

So pleased to have this cafe near my home. I've become a regular patron and really enjoy the delicious coffee and pleasant ambiance. The menu is big enough to offer plenty of choice, including some great vegetarian options. The folks who work here are friendly and always deliver great service. I often bring a laptop and work in the seating area upstairs. Recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice hot drink, or a quick and tasty breakfast or lunch.

Small place in Meadowbank with limited seating but very pleasant place to come for a tea or coffee . They supply a range of croissants ciabattas and bagels always nice done and most important all is served with a smile . Should not be missed for breakfast lunch or coffee break

I've always meant to pop in here as it looks cool but today was the 1st opportunity I've had. Opted for a bacon ciabatta, which was quickly heated for me. When I opened the bag, the bacon was a bit more well done than I would have liked but it was actually delicious. It hugely improved my Monday morning! Looked like lots of lovely fresh bagels, cakes and other things worth returning to try.

Nice little café with decent food and good choice. Exactly what the area needs. Staff are super friendly. Also dog friendly downstairs which is a great plus.

I was incredibly hyped that this place was opening, and obviously can see a good amount of money has been invested in the interior - and exterior - of the coffee house. However, the coffee is quite mediocre and it's hardly 3rd wave or anything. Additionally, I got served possibly the driest scone i've had which, when I think about it, is quite depressing and inexcusable. Happy to give this place a 2nd go at some point, as I live a few minutes away. But given the quality of coffee houses further into town, this place underwhelms.

I live nearby and often find myself in here and every single time the coffee is on the money. The place is always spotless and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

I’ve used Baba Rista several times - it’s close to where I stay and right by a bus-stop into town. The coffee is very good, the staff always friendly and welcoming and it’s been great to see the range of food, sweet and savoury, develop as they listen to their customer base. Great for a quick snack to go while waiting for the bus but there’s a nice seating area if sitting in is what you want. Well worth a visit

Very nice bagels and nice coffee. Have ordered few times and love it. Also you need to go there earlier before lunch as these go fast :)

Regularly get coffee and food here, staff are friendly and helpful. The food is outstanding and excellent quality and the coffee on point everytime. It's a great deal better value than your high street chains.

Nice decor with foods and drink that give plenty to try and enjoy for any of your needs. I go here very often and it's not hard to see why once you go.

I absolutely love this place. It's small and has a modern touch with a nice selection of well presented food and drinks. Saying that by far the best part are the two girls, Miya and Angela that work there who are just fabulous at what they are doing. If it's not busy then I guarantee you'll have a pleasant time with either of them serving!

I think that was the best bagle I ever had so far, and really good cakes! Everything prepared with care and good quality ingredients.

Not only the upstairs space and the lovely ladies's smile are an excellent welcome, the hot bagel with Italian cold meat and pesto was a delightful surprise, the perfect espresso married with a heavenly white truffle (from a trusted Sicilian pastry chef) was enough to set a smile on my face and a spring in my steps for the rest of the day. Well done!

I try to visit each day for lunch as I work locally, the food here is delicious and the choices are vast! The cakes are also a must!

A pretty cafe where you can have good bagels (the New York is really awesome) and soups. The place looks very nice and the staff is cool too.

Baba Rista is the nicest food place in the area providing sit-in seating (indoor and outdoor) as well as take-away. The amount of effort made to transform the building is equally matched by the amount of effort they put into their menu. This creates a much more convenient place for me to do some work whilst enjoying good coffee than was available before. The staff are friendly and make an effort with customers which makes the whole experience superb. A very unique, modern addition to the area. Awesome!!
