Absolutely the best Italian food I've ever had. Pasta is fresh and service is great. Christina is a phenomenal waitress. We love to eat here!

Made a reservation a few days ahead and then called the day of to shift it 15 minutes. The MANAGER never wrote down either reservation and didn't have a table for us for over an hour. It was the night of Captains Ball, we couldn't wait. The manager wasn't apologetic, didn't give us a reason why he didn't write it down, and didn't offer us any alternatives. Extremely disappointing.

Love their pizza, but was very disappointed in the bruschetta, it didn’t come as described. We were given lightly toasted sandwich bread and barely any mozzarella. The picture online should be changed.

This restaurant was highly recommended to us so we decided to try it. Our server Katerina was phenomenal. The atmosphere was charming. The food was good. When I did not care for my entree that I ordered, Katerina was quick to fix it by offering another dish. It was decently priced for an Italian restaurant. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Oh my goodness love this place. My husband and I were actually wanted to go to Byrds and try them but they were closed and I am so glad because we tried here instead. The people were very pleasant, it was clean, and oh my goodness the food was great. I had Vegetarian Cappellini and husband had Chicken Parm. Both were delicious. This will become one of our go to places. I highly recommend.

Good Italian food at reasonable prices. Live nearby & eat here often, both dine in & take out. Very small inside & service can be slow when they’re at full capacity, but worth the wait. Haven’t had a dish here that wasn’t tasty. Red sauces are a little on the sweet side. Pizzas are really good. Garlic knots are awesome.

Just had our inaugural experience at Azzurri Italian Restaurant. Kate, our server, was delightful and attentive. Tried the lasagna, and my wife had the Chicken Florentine—both superb. Tender chicken, flavorful sauce with a hint of Marianna, and the lasagna's meat sauce was spot on. Don't even get me started on the amazing garlic knots. Regret not discovering this gem sooner for some authentic Italian delights.

The food here is about as authentic as you can get in this area and without going to Italy. I highly suggest this Italian restaurant for good food and an authentic feel. I personally recommend the Tiramisu. Coming from someone who spent a year living and studying abroad in Italy, this Tiramisu is the real deal. The only thing I didn't like is the (balsamic glaze on the bruschetta and the non-use of Roma Tomatoes.) While I understand this could be a regional variation, it is my opinion that it throws off the natural flavors of the tomatoes and adds unnecessary acidity. Perfect Bruschetta is made with fresh bread, Roma Tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, salt, and pepper. After all, the beauty in Italian cuisine is simplicity.

It can get crowded, but the food is fantastic. Amazing pasta.

Great find! Had never been here before, but will definitely go back, especially when attending shows at Ferguson Center. Food was awesome and reasonably priced.

Everything was amazing. My seat was a little disfigured and sank in the middle but did not deter from our experience whatsoever. This was the last booth closest to the bathrooms

Edit: Second time coming to Azzurri and decided to get their lasagna and boy were they kind enough to let me order late and made it look so perfect 😍 and the taste was perfect. The owner told me they use exported cheese from Italy 🇮🇹 and with a special sauce they personally make *Chefs Kiss* is what makes their lasagna different from other Italian restaurants

Popped in for a quick lunch after a CNU campus tour and what a delicious surprise! Mushroom ravioli, Pasta Azzuri, and Penne de Capri were all delectable and very reasonably priced. The service was friendly and authentic as well. Very appreciated!

A coworker told me about this place back in May of this year. I order food to go most of the time but I do dine in sometimes. They give you a discount on cash purchases. I go there at least 3x a month. I love it! Good service, nice staff, and good food!

Can't tell you about the food unfortunately, since absolutely no one from the staff acknowledged my existence. Now, it was quite busy so its probably pretty good. I'll never know unfortunately.

I loved my experience! We arrived late but the staff were no less attentive. My meal was by far the best Shrimp Alfredo I’ve ever had. The sauce was exceptional with a hint of lemon the pasta was the perfect texture and cooked to perfection. And with all of this, the prices were very reasonable. It is rare that I want to go back to a restaurant twice in a row, but I will see them again REAL soon.

This restaurant really gets it right! The pizza is delicious! I love the crust. The sauce and cheese are very much working together to bring a satisfying bite every time. They provided excellent service and even delivered it to the nurses station for my donation Easter weekend!! You definitely need to try Azzurri Italian Restaurant when in the Newport News area.

I see many positive reviews about this place. While I didn't dine in the restaurant, I did order delivery; a large pizza and dessert. I have to be honest: the pizza was horrific. I did the "build your own" and made an assumption (whoops) that sauce was a foregone conclusion. I mean, it's pizza. I saw the sauce option and thought it meant "extra" sauce, since, you know, PIZZA. I ordered it with bacon, pepperoni, feta cheese, and mozerella. I have no idea what was delivered. It had no bacon. I believe there was pepperoni, but it was underneath a literal inch of cheese. I've never seen so much cheese on a pizza. The feta they used was either old or cheap, and didn't taste good. Finally between the inch of mozerella, the awful feta and the crust, it was so salty it couldn't be eaten. And again, no sauce. I'm just blown away that no one saw that and was like "let's give them a call and double check." The cannoli wasn't good either. The cream was lumpy. Very lumpy. Maybe someone was having a bad day. Maybe pizza isn't their speciality. Nor cannoli. But I won't be ordering again. Next time you get a pizza order that really seems like there should be sauce call the customer and double check. *** update*** The owner has reached out to me personally and is working very hard to correct the pizza and I appreciate the excellent customer service. That goes a long way.

If you want Southern Italian cooking, THIS is the place. Easily the best Italian restaurant in Newport News. Between this place and Reginello's you can get good Italian cooking in most of Hampton Roads. My only complaint was the pasta sauce was too sweet for my liking, but that is a taste preference and not a reflection on the restaurant itself. The meat sauce was the perfect consistency and the meat was perfectly cooked. I also hadn't had a meatball that good in a while. Definitely will be a repeat customer.

I went here with my son because of the 5 stars on Yelp. This place did not disappoint. From the greeting at the door to the food being served we’re all pleasant. I actually tasted the anchovies in the Caesar dressing and the pull of the cheese on the pepperoni pizza was amazing.

Quality here has gone down soooo much. The Alfredo is soupy and the service is less than subpar. Came in a few days ago and sat outside, and it was 15 minutes before we even got a menu. Saw other people being seated inside and waited on immediately. We were literally forgotten about. Sucks because azzurri is usually good

I was ready to give it a 5 after the house salad and garlic knots but then they brought my fettuccini. The sauce was thin/watery. The pasta was undercooked.

Mom and I at at Azzurri for lunch. She had the Eggplant Parm with Spagetti, I had the Philly Steak Stromboli! Everything was great. It wasn’t busy when we got there. As we were sitting there, people began to come in and dine for lunch as well as pick up their to go orders. Azzurri is a great place to go for authentic Italian cousine.

Our absolutely favorite Italian restaurant - we are there several times a month! Flavorful, delicious food and friendly staff. Have tried many of their menu items and specials, plus pizza and sandwiches, all very good choices.

I do not usually post reviews, but when a restaurant is simply amazing, it is hard not to tell the whole world about it! This was my boyfriend and I's first time at Azzurri, and we were not dissapointed!!! First of all, this restaurant is family owned, and the owner himself is actually from Italy. He is simply a delight and very involved with the restaurant. He is also the chef in the kitchen, which you do not see that often in restaurants. You will get true authentic italian food. Not something you get at a chain like Olive Garden or Carraba's. We were welcomed like we were apart of their own family! Our Appetizer was the Bruschetta Toscana which was so amazing! For my Entrée, I had the Lasagna Bolognese, and my boyfriend had the chicken alfredo! Both were simply so divine, that I literally had no words with how perfect and delicious it was. The chef is a true artist and is simply so skilled at what he does, that you will not regret coming here!! I am extremely picky with pasta as well, but, they knew how to get it to perfection. The decor and atmosphere is also so welcoming, much like if you were sorta to go to a Cafe in Italy mixed with a fancy flair. Our server Nathan, was also so knowledgeable about the menu and about the food that it was astounding. Service was top notch and my water was never empty. They have made regulars out of us now for sure! The prices also can't be beat. It was very fair. They even have a lunch menu which is even cheaper! If you are looking for great service, a welcoming atmosphere, great food for a decent price, then look no further, because this place is simply amazing!!

Mom and I ate at Azzurri for lunch today. She had the BLT and fries, I had the Meatball sub with a side of fries. Everything was great. We got in right after 11am. We were seated right away and our food came out quickly. We will be back!

The red sauce and pasta here is excellent. This isn't your typical hole in the wall average Italian place, it's simply the BEST I've get visited. Everyone who works here is Italian with a strong accent, and they will serve you authentic Italian. Punches way above its appearance and has never disappointed me. Certified classic

I had the special of the day, veal sambucca, and it was absolutely delicious but not all that appealing to the eye. Service was good but slow. If you want authentic Italian food that tastes like somebody's grandma is in the kitchen, making it from scratch, this is a place to keep in mind. But be prepared to wait.

Service was fantastic, and Sinatra was playing, you have to love that. The Bruschetta Toscana was amazing, I'll probably order that every time I visit from now on. I tried a slice of the pizza I ordered to go when I got home, and it's the perfect chew on the crust! Looking forward to going back to try everything else now.

I'd give them zero star if I could. Ordered delivery. It says 45-55 min, ETA was 7:10 latest. It is now 8pm. Called them and they put me on hold for 5 min. Worst service of my life.

This Italian restaurant is one of the best in Newport News area and my husband and I go to for Italian food! I used to go to Olive Garden for pasta but this place has an authentic taste! Very friendly staffs as well! Highly recommended!

Oh my goodness, this place is incredible!! Wow. The fried calamari is hand-breaded and seasoned perfectly, the shrimp Alfredo was divine, and the lasagna was so flavorful and had the perfect balance of meat and cheese. The cannoli was perfect, as well! The service is quick, warm, and welcoming. This is officially our new favorite spot!

Definitely not eating here again. I’ll admit, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, but nothing was good. There was not much seasoning and everything was very bland. We got the cheese bread and it tasted like the bread was cooked with too much yeast. The garlic knots were also dry and flavorless and I’m pretty sure they had been sitting for a good while. As far as the entrees, we got the shrimp scampi and the shrimp Alfredo. The shrimp scampi literally just tasted like warm lemon water with noodles. No flavor no seasoning. Then the shrimp Alfredo was alright, but bland and very milky. Eating this food made us sick and I’ve even thrown up. I just wanna know What these people do in their kitchen. It’s very misleading with that “best Italian restaurant in Newport News” sign because I beg to differ. All I can say is the food must’ve been better 3 years ago. That or the people just don’t have taste buds.

Food and service was INCREDIBLE!!!! Nice cozy atmosphere. IMO the best kept secret of Newport News when it comes to Italian dining. Can't wait to go back again and again just to try everything they offer.

Great home cooked food and service.

I ordered two x large pizza and they were super wet and soggy. They didn't even put cheese on both of my pizzas. Had to throw them away. You won't catch me at this place again.

Placed a pickup order for the fried zucchini sticks and Philly Cheesesteak and let me just say WOW!!! One of the best Philly Cheesesteaks I've ever had! I will definitely make a special trip from Chesapeake just to eat here!

Wonderful, cozy, little place. Nice ambience. The food was spectacular. Reminded me of true, authentic Italian. I ordered the simple spaghetti with meatballs and meat sauce. It was delightful. Highly recommend!

Went for lunch. Had cheeseburger and fries. Took a while to come out but was very good.

I got hot wings and a side salad with vinaigrette. The dressing and salad was great, the wings were good and crispy, however if they have an option to get them naked- (without breading) I will do that next time rather than breaded. A little too much for my taste, however they were still good.

Food was great the 3 times i visited.

We arrived at about 8:30 on a Thursday night and as soon as we were in the door we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Sparkling clean! Parking was a snap. We had the Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti and Penne ala Grigliata. They came with a large crispy fresh salad. The house Italian salad dressing was really tasty. The service was quite professional and spot on attentive. The Chicken Parmesan was so good even though it was a large portion every bite was gone in just minutes. The Penne ala Grigliata was enough for more than 2 hungry people. Our drinks were constantly refilled. I noticed the staff was unusually accommodating to 2 different tables. One wanted a particular channel found on the cable TV and the other had 3 small children. The decorations where very well done. The bill was much less then we pay other places for about the same great dinning experience. The other customers seemed to be regulars. We will be back soon. The menu is large and I want to give several of their offerings a try.

Service was ok, extermly friendly but seemed as if they were more concerned about other things, hanging out and having personal conversations, while we waited to have our empty drinks to be refilled. Food wasn't as good as I expected considering the awards showcased on the outside of the establishment. How ever the restaurant was clean and well kept, over all it was an ok experience.

Authentic Italian at good prices

Everything was amazing. They have created a wonderful atmosphere for your dining pleasure. The food is so tasty and even great the next day. The desserts, oh my the desserts. I would go back just for those. Will definitely go there again.

6 of us enjoyed a nice dinner there last night (12/19)..We found the food to be very good (especially the Garlic Knots) and the service was outstanding..The restaurant was clean and very well kept..The prices were reasonable as were the portions...My only "complaint" (and considering what's going on in 2020, this is very minor) was the proximity of our table to their phone..It rang LOUD and CONSTANTLY with their speaker identifying who was calling...Sometimes it rang 5 rings before someone picked it up.. and the phone rang over and over and over while we were there..We were about 5 feet from it so after several times, it became annoying...Having said all that, I think we all agreed we'd go back (and ask to sit in a different part of the restaurant)....Its worth a visit...Enjoy!

Delicious mushroom ravioli and friendly staff.

Great food and very friendly service. They had an excellent set up for Covid to allow safe dine-in. I’m always so impressed by these guys! The lobster ravioli and gnocchi are SO GOOD!!

The Italian salad was depressing. An $8 salad that was all lettuce with 3 cherry tomatoes and 2 slices of ham and one slice each of cheese and salami. It was more like a $3 salad. Got a small house salad and it had a handful of wilted lettuce one rotten cherry tomato one wilted piece of cucumber and 2 small rings of onion with not even half a small ramekin full of dressing. It was sad and gross thanks guys!!

THE BEST ALFREDO I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE !!! I've passed this place plenty of times but never went in, after looking up restaurants in my area this one popped up, I went with my husband and MIL and I must say the food was spectacular the service was phenomenal and the ALFREDO...It tasted like God himself made it, was full, gave it to Jesus- Jesus aint want it and gave it to me. It was that good will definitely be back alone to try the dessert (did not need to be judged) this place would get 10 stars if i could.
