A clean and happy place with lovely food

Amazing little cafe always full of local regulars which is a great sign but even as a passer by you're welcomed like an old friend! The English breakfast and gluten free brownie are to die for and the coffee top notch but there's an extensive menu of breakfast and dinner items that should have something for everyone. They have also started hosting Greek nights with a delicious sounding menu so look out for these! Brilliant food, great prices and lovely friendly service, we can't wait to go back 😋 thanks so much Annette for looking after us!

Arrive a customer and leave as friends 😍 We love the food, the friendly, cosy atmosphere and if we lived locally we'd be here all the time, one day we hope to come to the famous Wednesday Greek night 😋! This was our second weekend stay in Bexhill in 5 months, Annette remembered our names and that we liked music at The De La Warr. It was like meeting up with an old friend. A really special little Cafe. Thank you. We'll be back soon. 😀

I have been going to Avra cafe over several months to meet up with friends, it's so good we keep meeting up there. The food is always well presented and along with the tea hot!

AVRA CAFE: GREAT SUPER BARBECUE 🍗 ON WEDNESDAY NIGHTS IN BEXHILL. The good people at Avra have introduced a BAR-B-Q Wednesday night special evening. Cooking really excellent Greek barbecue food. I went to the first evening and it was wonderful. The food was cooked perfectly. I went for a chicken Souvlaki served with a bed of rice. The rice had additional vegetables - tasty but didn’t interfere with the actual basic flavour of the well cooked rice. The chicken is cooked on a skewer with vegetables, roasted peppers, onion et cetera added to the chicken - for further flavour. There are different variations available, lamb, pork, chicken beef. There is a vegetarian option, for example, various grilled vegetables as a side plate or can be ordered with rice. To finish off this lovely meal - I went for Greek yoghurt served with plenty of honey and walnut as a refreshing dessert. I hope this evening is successful for them. Bexhill could do with more variety in its restaurants, as it’s mostly Indian and Italian —-It was nice to go somewhere and eat freshly cooked vegetables and grilled meat like this. Avra during the weekdays cook breakfasts, and other English fayre —-omelettes, pies home made beef stews etc with a good selection of Greek dishes too. They are in the town Hall Square — across the road from Sainsbury’s from Sainsbury’s —— they are definitely worth a visit. A touch of distinct class in Bexhill and now newly offering special barbecue dishes on Wednesday nights. I shall be there on future occasions.

Great place to go. So warm and friendly. Varied menu with Greek food available. In fact nothing is too much trouble. Service is excellent and prices are reasonable. My husband loves the coffee and has made friends with the plants. An excellent place to chill out and meet friends.

Very friendly cafe, I have been coming here for a few years now, the food is great and the people are to.

Myself and a friend visited this little gem of a place a few weeks ago, it’s so lovely.The food is delicious, staff are fabulous and would love to visit again. But.... We have been back several times to eat but every time we have got there, we are meet by an extremely overweight man, who sits outside holding court like he owns the place. So we have not bothered to go in. Such a shame as it really is a lovely little place but we had no desire to run the gauntlet of this unsavoury man. Surely they must lose a lot of custom due to his presence So disappointed, but won’t be going all the while he is there.. we can’t be the only ones to feel this way

Great breakfast cooked by their chef George, always friendly and helpful. The whole team are great and the atmosphere of the cafe is friendly. Always some one to chat too. I love coming to Avra is my regular cafe to go too and I have been a customer for 4 years. Parking is available opposite the cafe, 80p for 2 hours. Or Sainsbury's car park 1 and half hours. 😍

Born & bred Bexhill boy. It's quite simply the best. Excellent proprietor who engages with everyone. The trust & respect she has earned is 2nd to none. The food is truly amazing. English & Greek. Plus all others. The custom, the customers, the cleanliness. Truly outstanding. Would recommend to anyone. You certainly won't be disappointed.

Friendly and welcoming service. The lady serving seemed to know everyone by name and even though we are not local, we felt so welcome. The food was delicious, home cooked. Lot's of choice on the menu. Gorgeous proper coffee. I wish we had somewhere near us that was 5 star like this cafe. Update!! We visited 3 times during our weekend stay!! All food was lovely, tasty and well presented. But the best bit was the welcome from Annette, the team and the other customers. A real gem of a cafe. We even bought cakes to take home with us as we didn't have room to eat them after our brunch. Thanks again. 😊

Lovely, friendly staff, and delicious food. My first time to try Greek coffee and it was delicious! The cherry pie was gorgeous, the main was piping hot and very tasty. 10/10 would recommend.

The joint owner says hello. Because she's friendly. It's cosy. Because it's small. It's brightly painted with café art. The food is generous and on a plate. She remembers you. It's affordable and unpretentious. All cafés should be like this. Go there when you're in Bexhill. There's love here.

Just discovered this little place in the need of a coffee one morning a few weeks ago. Wow, can't recommend their flat white coffee enough. Always such friendly service too. I am now a satisfied and returning customer 😁👌

Just moved to bexhill and had cycled past a few times so thought I’d give it a try with my son,have to say it’s superb!! Been 3 times now and each time it’s been delicious,almost as nice as the eyes of the lady that serves you😉🤗 Undiscovered Gem is an over used saying these days, but this place definitely is.

Last Friday six members of the charity JUST FRIENDS had a most enjoyable lunch hour at Avra Cafe. Sylvia had a really appetizing Greek salad, John had a fantastic breakfast, and the coffee was superb. Service was excellent and Annette made us all very welcome. Will definitely go again.

Wow, this is such an amazing place. A group of 12 of us dined there one evening. We arranged to pay a fixed price each and we asked the restaurant to feed us. Well what can I say, they didn’t disappoint in any way . The various Greek dishes were wonderful. The tzatziki, garlic mushrooms, chicken, pork, Greek sausage, the fresh Greek salad and so much more were all delicious. We will be back.

Wonderful authentic Greek food, excellent pizzas, and great burgers too. If you like tzatziki then this is the place. Great sandwiches and coffee, and in a handy spot in the middle of town. It has a really warm atmosphere, pop in if you get a chance.

We enjoy going out. Yesterday we went to this magnificent place which friends recommended to us. We spent a beautiful experience there with first-rate meal and a nice stuff and a talented cook. We put this place in our list and we shall certainly visit again very soon. We warmly recommend.

Popped in here as my friend loves this place. It was really nice, nothing plush but clean, bright, ultra friendly and exceptional coffee. The lady, Annette, I think, was delightful. Smiley, friendly and very nice generally. Menu looked really good, looks all home cooked. Can’t wait to return.

Love the authentic Greek food, Greek Coffee and desert served. I comeback again and again for the 2 weeks I stayed in Bexhill. The very friendly Annette made Kataifi sweeter than sweets. Convenience location near to train station and where bus 89 stops.

Two weeks in Bexhill on sea, multiple visits to Avra Cafe just next to the Town Hall. Attracted by the authentic Greek food, cosy environments and friendly Annette & Dimitry, who pride themselves with as much possible home cook food from scratch using basic ingredients. A cup of blue Mountain Coffee, and slide of sweet Greek desert is all that is needed for a good afternoon chat. All good things come in very reasonable price. Will come back again.

I like a decent Greek dish be Fetta and salad or a nice Bean soup (Fasolada) or perhaps a tender beef stew. Dimitri and Annette provide this and much more , attention to detail a hospitality second to none. Nothing is too much trouble but above all good value delicious food in congenial company. Every body who comes to Avra Cafe end up chatting to each other bit like the movie Badgad Cafe. If you wan't to be left at peace that's possible too. I like it here it's like a second home to me and there's some excellent photography to be admire on the wall. ps:they do all day breakfats as well should you want that and burgers and pizzas all freshly made and don't scrimp on portions. 10 out of 10 for Avra Cafe from me.

We all fancied Gyros after a hard days decorating. We found Avra on trip advisor and thought we give it go. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed by the owners and made our order. We requested quite a lot of food, so the lady (Anita, I think) said it would be 30 mins as all is cooked fresh, even the pitta breads. We said we would go to the pub at the bottom of the road and Anita said she would come a get us when ready. She was true to her word. The food was all very fresh and lovely. We had the pork and chicken gyros, fries with origano, bean hummus and a large Greek salad. Everything was delicious and fresh. We surprised how authentic the food was. Next time we will each in and feast again. Thank you Anita and Dimitris

Fabulous homemade Greek food, not the tourist food but proper Greek dishes. Mix that with a cafe that serves pizza with homemade dough, English breakfast with sausages from the local butcher and great coffee from Roasted of Brighton and you have yourself the best of everything.. Annette is the perfect host and Demetri the chef. So go practice your Greek whilst tucking into some great food and If you don’t see what you like then just ask them.

Lovely little cafe opposite Bexhill Town Hall. Near the corner pub. They do very nice and very reasonably priced Greek dishes. Plus nice pizzas and burgers. Pasta diches and dishes seved wit roce- a nice fresh chnge! As well as a good traditional British breakfast. Dmitri and Annette are freindly and go to any lengths to provide customers with a good meal and a nice friendly atmosphere.

Stopped in for a late snack one afternoon. Was visiting the vinyl records shop next door. Had some Greek snacks which were superb,reasonably priced and served with a smile. A great local cafe.
