Lovely freshly made food 😋. The Cottage 🥧 Pie is delicious.

Quiet, a remote location, must be well known as the restaurant is enormous, and I didn't eat as near closing 4 pm arrival! Usual 'large' garden centre. It had a butcher's section, which you don't often see.

Good garden centre with a very reasonable and roomy cafe. Dogs welcome.

I've visited a few times for a coffee and cake stop. A good selection of cakes and you can get coffee in 3 sizes. Loads of space to sit indoors and space outside too. Ordering is at the counter, which can be a bit sluggish. Lunch times 12 onwards can be very busy with a substantial queue.

People very friendly lots to see. Food very good shall be back.

Great garden centre with lots of extra items for your garden and home needs. Good restaurant and clothing outlet. 👌

We went there for lunch and looked around at the plants

The food is nice, some of the staff are nice but the main issue is the lack of care for their tortoise or turtle is shocking every time myself and my partner come the top of it's habitat is filled with cobwebs and there is a tub of food up there that still hasn't been opened, there's nothing in there for it to play with or keep itself entertained the tank itself is filthy.

Bit dissatisfied. Paid for 2 x chicken Kiev chips and salad. Came with no salad. No succulent plant food. Things a bit highly priced.

Good nursery. Very nice cafe. Very good food. Friendly staff. Go try it out.

Now autumn and selection is now concentrated on spring bulbs, sale priced christmas gifts and decorations. Large selection of flower and vegetable seeds still available, along with trees, furniture & parasols. Onsite Vintage Butcher seems always busy and there is a good selection of groceries including speciality locally baked cakes. Also has "The Works" & "Edinburgh Wool" shops on site As always staff are helpful and friendly. Restaurant is always busy but have never eaten there so unable to comment.

CAFE; lady who served us at the counter had an attitude, and was not polite. Overall service was particularly slow even though there seemed to be many staff members standing about. Waited 25 minutes for x2 coffees and cake. Generally not impressed.

Lovely garden centre, plants are in v good condition. Staff always helpful. The concession stores are good too. I am told the cafe is excellent , but haven't tried it yet.

Great place to go and get all your gardening items, and the Christmas decorations etc are just amazing so much to chose from. The cafe / restaurant is highly recommended. Great food and drinks

It's a rare experience to find a garden centre like this one. It feels traditional & unspoilt, yet bursting with gifts, Christmas displays & of course all of the garden items & plants you'll ever need. The whole experience from top to bottom is brilliant! They have a large carkpark with ample parking, a nice large indoor & outdoor garden centre, The Works is here & then you find a real treasure. The restaurant! We love to come every weekend for a spot of breakfast. It has great home cooked style food with very generous portion sizes at really reasonable prices. The cafe is airy & calm with designated dog seating for our woofer. It's nice to find a garden centre that isnt offering food that appears 'fancy' but is just overpriced rubbish. Here you pay for what you get & you get what you pay for. You'll always leave well fed. Stay the same & keep doing what you are doing Avenue. This garden centre is a gem!

£4.50 for a bacon bap that comprised of 2 small rashers and a shriveled up roll...not good value....other meals looked good though so I'd opt for something different if I'm there again

Nice little GC but please can the management look at the restaurant set up. Sundays are a nightmare when it is busy. Hour and a quarter for a sausage sandwich. Coffee took half hour. Other customers were asking for refunds as they had lost the will to live waiting.

Have always had good experience with this place for last 20 years but today was terrible. Ordered food at half past 1 waited an hour got told we were next everyone else had been and gone and still waited another half hour. Then got told some of our food was no longer available. In future if you can’t meet demand please stop serving or provide wait times we did receive a refund and no issues with staff but the day to day running has been terrible.

Such a huge and appealing menu. Nut roast delicious and a filling meal for under £10 🤗. Lovely for all ages and won’t break tge bank. Christmas selection fantastic

It’s really lovely garden centre with restaurants which I remember when I was little it used to be small greenhouse and was amazed how much it have expanded to bigger garden centre with, lovely selections of foods in the restaurant

Nice garden centre, better value than some. Good value cafe with plenty of choice, traditional menu items. You won’t find any trendy foods here. Do the usual nice coffees though and nice ice cream.

The cafe is the star of the show here - good ‘homemade’ style food which is served in good portion sizes and at a very competitive price. The speed of service was acceptable and staff were polite. The shop part of the garden centre is a bit overpriced but staff were friendly and engaging. There is ample free parking and the site is fully accessible for wheelchair users etc.

The people were very friendly, the man on the checkout was also jovial. The restaurant has loads of seating areas. There is also an outdoor eating area. It has a fantastic selection of food to choose from and lots of it, and the service is good. I am not a dog owner but there are some tables reserved for dog owners. The toilets are exceptionally clean. A good choice of plants, gifts and clothes.

Went for lunch, scampi and chips was excellent. I then went to the counter to order puddings. Stood at counter two members of staff just walked past and ignored me, I was holding menu. So left and went somewhere else.

Disappointed. Arrived early hoping for breakfast in middle of house moving. Not many people but a cooked breakfast took over 30 minutes to arrive. Sadly plates cold so eggs congealed from kitchen to table and other food cooling fast. Miserable and sullen staff (as they always are). Not motivated in anyway to help or engage. Made to feel like an intruder. Sad as garden centre is a good one and we visit often. We would go to the cafe more if they upped their game.

I cycled from Winchester with a friend who knew this garden centre whereas I was a stranger to the area. I love good ham but I am reluctant as too often you get reconstituted ham (compressed floor sweepings?) however my friend assured me it would be OK. It was more than OK. I had the Ham baguette. The ham was an absolute delight, off the bone, and the baguette was lovely. I found a member of staff and thanked them. My friend had a prawn baguette and thoroughly enjoyed that. Refreshed, fed and watered, well tea'd and coffee'd we cycled back to Winchester. A thank you to the friendly staff.

Wow, what a delicious Sunday lunch, Roast Pork and all the trimmings, followed by a wonderful slice of iced lemon sponge and a latte. Food was amazing, staff all pleasant, happy and helpful.

First and last time at visiting for food. After waiting 45 minutes for our food someone finally came over and confirmed food order. They hadn't written our table number done. Food came out in minutes it had been put under heat lamps. My chips were warmish and my cheese burger was overcooked, burnt!!! Disgusting and even worst they had the cheek to serve it!!!. Would NOT Recommend AT ALL. Deserve A Zero!!!!!

A vast dining area and popular. We simply chose the vegetable soup which was not listed as 'spicy'. Unfortunately it had chillie seasoning and was almost too hot for either of us to eat. We asked for some milk to make it more edible which was happily provided by an understanding waitress.

We had a lovely afternoon here and have visited several times. I particularly appreciate the large size of the restaurant and well spaced out tables as you don't feel on top of other diners and can usually find a quiet table away from others, plus there's plenty of room to manoeuvre a wheelchair. The menu looks extensive but I appreciate being able to have a small snack such as a bowl of chips when taking elderly visitors who don't have a big appetite. We were also delighted to get rum & raisin ice cream here as so many other places seem to have stopped selling it. Service was good and cheerful. It's very refreshing to visit a family owned independent garden centre and we drove a fair distance to visit in favour of more local ones, which have been taken over by a chain and have become clones of each other. Other customers we spoke to had come from Odiham and Basingstoke and were clearly enjoying their visits too. The checkout assistant in the garden centre couldn't have been friendlier if he tried and had so much time for us, whilst the lady in The Works clearly took pride in her shop within the garden centre and was very friendly and helpful too. Well done to all the staff and we look forward to returning.

After a look around the garden centre I Stopped for coffee and cake, system needs to be reviewed as 20 mins to serve up coffee & cake (which was dry) is not great- & didn’t get cake I ordered either. Cafe was busy, observed their system whilst waiting - orders put on a bulldog clip - but appeared that orders were dealt with out of order, some taken from top & some from bottom of pile on clip.

Poor food - I ordered vegetable soup and it was a tasteless mix of what seemed to be mainly swede and turnip. Dry, overcooked chips and a bland salad. The experience reminded me of school dinners. Avoid.

If you have all day this is the place to come if you dont mind waiting half an hour for a tea and a coffee. We regularly visit Alton and on the way we often stop here as my partner loves gardening. The garden centre itself is very expensive for what's on offer but we like the works and EWM so this offsets it. On our last visit there was no-one in the queue for the cafe so we decided to give it another try, we ordered a tea, latte and a small millionaires shortbread. There were several restaurant staff milling around and didnt look like they were doing much. There were other diners eating and others waiting for food, after 20 mins we asked a member of staff where our order was, its on its way and after 5 minutes it duly arrived. 25 minutes after we ordered it. In future we shall continue to Alton and either give the garden centre a miss or just bypass the cafe all together. Get your act together.

Met some friends at the garden centre so we had some drinks in the cafe. Just teas and coffees. I had a latte which was OK. Waitress was helpful. Would be good if they had Roibos tea as an option (they don't today) instead of the weird tea flavours. Contactless card payments. Sat outside in the sunshine, very pleasant.

This was our first visit to this garden center and we were very impressed, there was an excellent range of goods available and the prices compare favourably with other garden centres we visit. The restaurant was clean and well organised and the staff very pleasant and helpful. The food was good and very reasonably priced. The toilets were spotlessly clean and had the advantage of having 'proper' toilet paper and not the awful thin tissue paper used by most places. There was a very good range of plants although if you are looking for larger shrubs this is not the place to go. They had a good range of fruit trees.There is also an Edinburgh Woolen Mill and The Works outlets. Also a small food area as well as the butcher's. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Love this garden center. It's very affordable compared to other major stores with a great selection. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.

Inside the nursery was great they had a little selection of Peter Rabbit stuff which I'm into. The Christmas selection was brilliant. They had what I wanted in the works which was the main reason for going.

Appalling cafe experience. We were the first to order breakfast at 10.05 am - poached eggs on toast - which arrived 40 minutes later presented as boiled eggs on over margarined toast !! On complaining staff seemed incapable of handling but offered a full refund. The manager was called who was non apologetic and rude !! Great garden centre but avoid the cafe unless you have lots of time and accept the food will be basic and uninteresting

A nice place to go with your dog when the sun shines. Not so nice when it is wet or cold as there is no covered area. Always a good selection of plants, cakes, meat and pies plus gardening tools etc.

Very good plant selection and got excellent service and help from the staff. Had lunch in the onsite restaurant again very helpful staff clean tables and the food was hot tasty and good value for money

The cafe was an awful experience. Ordered a sandwich and a slice of cake for speed and convenience, and it took 50 minutes to get served. Never mind the food was nothing to write home about, the wait alone is just unacceptable. And I overheard many people complaining of having had to wait an unacceptable amount of time too, so it wasn't just a one-off.

A big open building plus outside display area. The cafe area is big, clean and tidy and the staff are very customers friendly.

Convenient. Includes EWM and The Works in addition to farm ship fayre, garden centre and cafeteria. Terrible WiFi whilst inside - but I doubt this is fault of Avenue Nurseries! Worth a visit.

A good garden centre, I believe it is an independent one so products are a bit varied from the main stream garden centres. Well worth a visit. Cafe is very popular with good meals at a respectable prices.

I like this garden centre and the café is equally pleasant with a decent menu. In addition to the prepared meals there's always a good selection of cakes. I had a large latte and cake for £5.49. Toilets are close by and clean/well presented. Nice place to visit and meet up with friends. Doing good COVID stuff too 👍

Went in for compost , stopped for a coffee . Friendly staff and very nice environment to look around . A couple of other stores on site .

Large area, well spaced tables; smarter and cleaner than the rest of the shopping area which really needs attention; menu choice o.k.; staff friendly; food and drink o.k. and no long waiting.

It is a pity the service in the restaurant has now deteriorated. Had a few poor experiences lately but yesterday (14 January) was particularly bad. Ordered meal and coffee and then waited quite a while when our dinner was brought to the table. We had...

Very happy with the service.... Bought a planter, its massive but the perfect size for the space we have, had no idea how to get it home... Offered free delivery, which they did today. Fits perfectly, called to keep me informed and help carry the planter to the intended location. Given the size free delivery was impressive on its own, but having ordered on bank holiday Monday and it arriving 9:30 Wednesday it was amazingly fast too!

Worth a visit as there are a lot of options for shopping apart from plants and patio furniture. There is a sizeable restaurant/cafeteria and a bookshop selling reduced price general interest books for adults and children.

Called in for Lunch Roast Beef, Plaice and chips and a Fish finger sandwich two teas and a hot chocolate £25!!! Very dissapointing the fish was cooked to an inch of its life and not edible. The roast was bearly warm. Drinks and fish finger sandwich was OK. Very EXPENSIVE for what you get.

Fantastic place lots of Christmas things

Nice garden centre. Has lots to offer. From plants, tools, garden furniture. Has a restaurant which is always full. Doing a variety of food from fish & chips to burgers, sandwiches. Home mad pies. It also has a book shop, cloths shop and a butchers. Worth a visit.

Visited Avenue Nurseries on a week day for a quick lunch with my wife and grandson and had 3 lovely sandwiches- 3 drinks and a cake all for £16.50. Very good service and lots of seating. You can’t go wrong here.

Popped in for a house plant and had fun choosing. Staff were friendly and informative and ended up getting some delicious pies too.
