Had the most amazing food at the Avatar tonight!! The service was amazing, so polite and professional and also, seeing as it’s Valentine’s Day, everyone was given a rose. Truly an amazing restaurant

The food was tasty, and the service was great.

Fabulous food but anyone with food allergies/dairy intolerance would find it a limited menu. There is disabled access but a tight area to negotiate. Obviously extremely popular. No idea if there is an accessible toilet or how one would get to it.

Forhetvthe idea of greasy Indian or Nepalese food. The ingredients are fresh, the flavours balanced and delicious, and the service right on point. Our first time here, we will be back, probably next week.

Great food, great service highly recommend

It was only upon reading my last review that I realised it’s been over two years since our last visit which is a shame because food wise I still rate it as the best Indian (it’s actually Nepalese-Indian) in Shrewsbury and we have some very good ones. The menu is not your bog-standard Indian although it does contain some ‘favourites’ but the choice is ample, including for vegetarians and pescatarians, and the food is delicious. Do note that the paneer tikka is completely dry, no sauce which caught us out (but it’s massive.) Service was very good too with more than enough staff on what was a very busy, and sadly, loud evening. Conversation levels had to be raised which had the effect of just increasing the noise so ambience wasn’t perfect. However, overall, we really enjoyed our meal here and I vow to return inside two years this time.

We went here for Friday lunch(£10.95)we had poppadoms at an extra cost prawn tempura (£2 extra)samosa chicken balls and a lamb katmando everything was beautiful couldn't fault anything.Staff were lovely and very attentive would definitely go back and would highly recommend to everyone 😀

We called in on a Sunday evening while visiting Shrewsbury overnight. We were greeted by very friendly, polite staff on entering the restaurant. The place was absolutely spotless and well lit. We ordered, poppadoms, starters and balti curries, all of the food was presented beautifully, ample portions and amazing flavours. All in all, a beautiful experience, a must for us on our next visit to Shrewsbury. Thank You Avatar... Your staff are beautiful people. 🙏

6 for a a birthday dinner last night. First visit and certainly will not be the last. Very clean, smart surroundings. Friendly team of staff. Excellent service wuth delicious food. Everyone agreed it was an all round pleasure. Thank you.

What a place. Staff were fantastic, polite respectful and a credit their employers. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting Shewsbury. Food was first class, monk fish starter was absolute class, in fact all meals were cooked with love and we really appreciated that. Cheers guys you deserve this feedback. I'm very critical on my reviews but this one is so easy.👍👍👍

Excellent 2 course lunch special

3 people with mixed meat & non-meat eaters. Salmon with eggplant was superb. Very different to standard Indian restaurant food. Highly recommended by all 3

Food excellent although a little slow to arrive. Polite staff. Very quiet on a Sunday evening. Perhaps a reflection of prices. Mains around the £15 mark.

My partner and I visited Avatar last Friday evening and had the most fabulous meal. We were seated in the window which was lovely and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We shared a plate of Momo to start and followed it with a Chicken Jalfrezi and an on the bone Lamb dish that was the most delightful thing I have ever eaten! My partner has been a few times on work dinners and has enjoyed it every single time which is why he then brought me to also experience how lovely it is. I can't wait to come back with a bigger appetite so I can try more things on the menu! Thanks Avatar, you were fab.

Lovely food and very very reasonably prices. We went on a Monday at 6..00pm but glad we booked. The tables soon filled up.

Visited today to sample the lunchtime special menu. Began with Papadoms and various dips, particularly enjoying the green mint yoghourt. An excellent starter - Minced lamb Kebabs with sauteed onions and pea tops, beautifully displayed. Spicy and delicious. The main course was Kathmandu Style Garlic Chicken, where I could specify the (heat) so I chose medium, again spicy and delicious. The yellow Basmati rice was fluffy and light, complementing the dish all with ample portions. I also added a side dish of spinach again delicious! I had zero alcohol Stella Artois to drink. All in all excellent Kathmandu style food, very enjoyable and tasty.

Great food and worth waiting for, having said that it take a little while before we got our food. It was good though and washed down with a gurka beer.

avatar is always flawless! i honestly cannot recommend this place enough! really good value for money despite being, as google puts it, upmarket! they're also great with my anxiety and autistic issues!

I visited here for an evening meal whilst away for an overnight work trip with some colleagues. It was a midweek night and not very busy. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. I asked about some food that I couldn't see on the menu and they said they could do that too. The food was outstanding - one of the best curries I've had in a long time. Full of flavour and the portion size was just right - not too much to fill you up when you're having a few pints with it I highly recommend this place and will certainly come back again

Well what can i say my wife and I have found our new Indian restaurant to eat in the food was excellent and the service was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. We went there with some friends on a recommendation from some other friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed our selves. We will defo be going there again.

We went for the 2 Couse set menu on a Saturday lunch time, we were not disappointed the food was excellent, service was quick and professional, it was quiet as only 3 other couple's in, but we were made to feel very welcome by the host, we will return.

I was craving for some indian food after work and found this restaurant in google maps. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Even though I didn’t book a table beforehand, they found me a space and took my order without delays. Food was served quick and was tasty. I ordered the chicken biriyani and it was delicious. The presentation was great. If I come back to Shrewsbury, I will definitely eat here again.

Booked a table for last Saturday night as it was my birthday. Having previously enjoyed this restaurant on a regular basis but was very dissappointed after waiting for half an hour and still not shown to a table. Many people waiting causing a problem for people already eating as having to stand down the middle of the restaurant. Whilst we can say the food is great which is why we booked but the overbooking of this popular restaurant is not good management.

I really enjoyed my meal. Great setting and fantastic staff. Everyone looked happy and enjoyed themselves. Food was hot, fresh and tasted great.

We booked this restaurant at short notice one very snowy night in January. When we turned up the place was already filling up. Throughout our stay the staff were super helpful and took time to explain the dishes. They were always on hand when you wanted but give us plenty of space to enjoy the meal. We never once felt unwelcome and the staff were a credit to the business. The food was freshly cooked and served quickly. I have never before been to this type of restaurant, but the food was excellent. Overall this was a great find and I hope to revisit it when I am next in town. Once the summer sets in I can imagine it will be impossible to get a booking.

Good food and drink, but expensive.

Absolutely appalled with my visit. Had my drink spilled by the waiter who was serving us all over my clothes and over mates jacket too. The waiter laughed and brought something over that looked like a pillow case to clean my self up. My trainers are completely soaked and sticky and I’ve had to leave to get dressed as I’m completely soaked. Others in the restaurant laughed and I felt completely embarrassed. There were no mentions of offering a discount or anything complimentary for the inconvenience. My friends and I travelled over 40 miles to visit as we heard very good reviews about this restaurant. The food looked decent, but we had to leave before our food arrived. So I’m giving a 1 star for the poor customer service shown. I shall not be visiting here again.

Christmas Day menu was amazing. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent.

My family and I love this place. They are always so friendly and the food is always first class. We have only ever had takeaways but we are very much looking forward to dining in real soon x

Vegan items on the menu were clearly labeled. We were served by Robin who was excellent and understood what is and isn’t vegan very well, which he explains clearly. One of, if not the best curry I’ve had!

I like to eat here whenever I’m in Shrewsbury. This time I went with the family, one member is vegetarian. As always the menu is great, although limited for a vegetarian and didn’t see anything for a vegan. The food is very good, staff are friendly and attentive. Love the Nepalese flavours. It’s a little pricey but worth paying as I think it’s the best curry in town.

Very good - quality food with Nepalese twist which I have experienced before elsewhere. Calm, clean, polite, good service.

Nice presentation of food and very good service. Quite busy when we went but still comfortable, not too noisy. Chicken tikka was very good. There were a couple of vegetarian mains and starters and these were not nearly as good. The starter was fearsomely spiced, the main by contrast was bland and seemed to be defrosted mixed veg in a sauce. So fine for meat eaters, less so for vegetarians and vegans. Cost £51 for 2.

I went on Sunday night 5:30 and the food was Excellent. Taste, presentation and the service is amazing. The best Indian food I have had in a very long time. VERY RECOMMENDED

Great food and service. Did have to wait a little to be seated at our pre-booked table which I wouldn't normally expect but they were very busy. I think they'd accepted a walk-in however that took a little longer than they'd anticipated. Food was very tasty.

Genuinely friendly welcome upon arrival, attentive staff (although that changed once it got busy - it's a very fine line between not feeling rushed and feeling like you've been forgotten about). Main thing is the food, which was excellent. Went for something a little different because of the Nepalese offerings and happy to say I was definitely not disappointed. If we were local I think we'd be regulars in here. Sadly were not but would still highly recommend this place to anyone lucky enough to find themselves in the area.

The food from poppadoms to dessert were 1st class. The staff were excellent and the service was 1st class too. Loved it and a wee gem of a place. Well worth a visit.
