AVATAR DINING in Harborough

We were in Harborough and decided to get a takeaway. When phoning to order I was advised it would be 30 to 40 minutes. As we were sitting in the car I asked if it could be any sooner, they said they would do their best. It was ready in 20 minutes!! Still piping hot after a 15 minutes journey home. We always have garlic spiced spinach but they excelled themselves tonight, it was so delicious.

Superb food, excellent service. Regularly eat out here and can honestly say receive the same high standard of food and service. Normally go midweek so perhaps Friday / Saturday are when people have felt rushed as we've never experienced that. What a wonderful team at Avatar. Thank you.

The food was fabulous and when my partner asked for a mild curry and it was too hot the staff were so accommodating, very impressive! Delightful food and excellent service.

The Staff here are so attentive and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Ballon's and a Birthday banner were put up for my Birthday meal and the food was just delish.

Always friendly service and tastey food

Booked 21 Jan for valentine day and confirmed the booking via returned email. Got a call 3 weeks later to pay a £10 deposit and confirm the booking again plus was told this night is now a fixed menu. This place which serves lovely food and was the the place of my first date with my partner which we planned to have the same starter, that option was taken away plus the fixed menu is forcing me to pay for the bread and rice which I would not have ordered due to ill health. It is a poor show from Avatar to wait until there is no time to book left to book somewhere else to change the conditions and menu to ram as many people in as possible for one of the most popular nights of the year. Poor show Avatar! I cancelled my booking!

No wonder this Indian restaurant is so highly rated across leicestershire As long as you try it once You will definitely understand and fall in love with it! Note that the taste of different curries is really different And it says it’s spicy, so you must believe it! In addition to the normal menu, it provides set meals every day Excellent value for money The portions are plenty and there are so many choices! So many that it will annoy you... The food looks and tastes great! Meet friends and family for a meal You will definitely come back with a full load!

went for sunday buffet on 28th jan 2024 with 2 friends only to find the price as gone up yet again and now £17.95 which we thought steep the considering it started off at £11.50 weve been many times we got charged £24 for 2 large cobra beer in bottles and 1 glass of wine food was good but the price of drinks is outrageous its £7.50 for a large bottle of cobra and £4 for a coke thats 300% markup we will not go back as profits before customers is totally wrong and should be addressed before it effects business

As usual everything was perfect at this lovely amazing place. Food and delicious and well presented service was awesome as always We had a lovely time. They always make it feel like a personal experience Can’t recommend it enough

Appalling. I booked a table at Avatar because my husband wanted to eat there in celebration of his birthday. I had vowed to never return to Avatar because they ruined my News Years Eve 2021 celebrations by not delivering my take away order because they had overstretched themselves. Anyhow, against my best judgement I booked a table. From start to finish (1 hour 10 mins) we were hurried along. For example we were asked to order our food immediately and I had to tell the waiter to leave my plate because I was still eating. As soon as we had finished eating and paid, we were told to leave our table and finish our drinks at the bar. Our table was then immediately cleared and reset for others to sit at. We were stood at a cramped bar next to the entrance with our drinks, coats, bags, scarves and hats in hand. We were in the way of staff and customers and it was cold. I told bar staff that I was not happy and was offered a complementary drink. I explained that I did not want another drink because I had not finished the one that I already had. Upon hearing this another member of staff approached us and offered us complementary Prosecco. I explained again that I did not want another drink and that I wanted was to be able to sit down with my husband and enjoy our evening out. They then tried to find us seats so that we could sit at the bar. By this point the experience had been ruined and we just wanted to leave, so we did. I will never return to Avatar. Profits before customers every time.

Very busy night so promised a table an hour later. We left and came back but still no table. Fair enough, 4 beers for £27 for four beers whilst we wait (very expensive). Another 45 mins later we gave up. Just tell us next time you are too busy!!!

This was our 3rd visit as we have had a few stop overs in Mkt Harborough since last year. It was very very busy and quite noisy as some large groups were dining. However we got used to the noise and were seated at the front..the staff were attentive, didn't rush us, our food was in good time and absolutely delicious as always. I am glad we booked a time as people were coming in and having quite a wait! Looking fwd to a return visit

The food was nice, we did ask for our children's dinners to be more mild, the waiter said he would sort it. But didn't. All felt very rushed and not very relaxed. Been before and been ok.

I must confess that I have been eating here for years, but this is because it's fabulous. I've eaten at many similar restaurants around the UK and even abroad, I have never had a better package of food taste, ambiance, great staff and decent prices which compliment each other. Delicious food and five star service

The food is always good at Avatar, but we did not enjoy our family meal yesterday evening. We were pushed by the staff again and again to rush our meal. I would prefer they told us either we were not welcome or they needed the table back by a certain time, that would have been more tolerable than prompting us again and again for an order, drinks, the bill etc! Honestly, you are not impolite but you need to consider how you look after your guests when you are busy. It really spoiled our evening.

Very luxurious inside and we're looked after well, although initial request for a jug of water wasn't forthcoming. Food lovely though 😉

Very tasty Indian food in a lovely environment. The Sunday buffet was lovely and well worth it. Staff very friendly and helpful.

This was our first visit and must say there was an excellent choice on the menu. Delicious food and the service was good. My only slight negative, it was a bit noisy due to being a bit open plan. Having said that, it was a very busy Friday night and with some small Christmas parties, so to be expected. All in all, an excellent meal out and we will definitely be going back again.

Most excellent food, all home made and taste great. Service is a bit chaotic but they were very busy. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, service and busy for a Tuesday in Harborough! A little on the pricey side though.

One of the worst dinning experiences I’ve ever had, my son had come to visit with his friend so I’d taken them out for dinner, we chose Avatar because the reviews were good, but we were so rush it spoiled the whole evening. we were seated and finished within 22 minutes, the waiter tuck are plates when I was still eating my popadoms, I had to pick what was left on my plate up to stop it being taken away and are main came out as the other waiter was taking the plates away, it felt more like a cheap fast food service then restaurant service, the food was ok and no complaints with that but as for dinning experience I don’t think I’ve had worse.

Best Indian in Market Harborough. Staff friendly and attentive. Mixed starter is excellent.

The restaurant is great. From its location to the interior design to the people behind the restaurant. I can see why it has won countless awards. It also helps when food great. Highly recommend it.

I've eaten in many Indian restaurants across the country. But found the food at avatar quite bland. Very disappointed

Went here for the first time last night and will definitely be returning, food was fantastic better than any expectation I had, the restaurant is clean and the staff are very friendly and welcoming, they went the extra mile for my daughters, they put banners and balloons for their birthday and suprised them after our meal with chocolate cake, all the staff sung happy birthday and a nice glass of baileys!! You don't get that sort of service nowadays. Our whole party left happy. I'd just like to thank the team at avatar for their hard work and for making my daughters birthday special. Thankyou, see you again in the future (when we ever get some time off 😂) from us at St marys fish and chips

We have Sunday buffet lunch at Avatar every month or so and it is always a very pleasurable experience.

We visited for a special family occasion. There was 22 of us and everyone agreed that the food and service was absolutely fabulous! My meal (vegetable karai) tasted so fresh and vibrant. The staff were friendly and accommodating, despite our party being somewhat noisy! Thank you for a great evening

Long-term customer. Placed a collection order on Sat eve using the app and was given a standard 40min collection time. When I got there the place was over-full and it took 90mins to get my food. If the app doesn’t reflect reality it’s pointless and if people are waiting they need to be given clear expectation of when the food will be ready. Very disappointed customer

Had the best experience at Avatar!! The food was so so nice, the naan and onion bhaji were the best I've ever had. Staff were super helpful and catered to my son's allergies. Very attentive staff and quick service. They even set up birthday decorations for my husband's birthday without us asking!! So nice, will definitely be back. :)

We booked here to meet friends coming in from a different town, we arrived early, 7.10, and were shown to our table, our friends are 10 mins later and were shown to a different table which wasn't in sight of ours. We spent 25 mins both waiting for the other! They eventually realised their mistake, and we were seated, this was now 7.45. We had poppadoms and ordered our starter and mains. Whilst the starter came quickly, we were still waiting for our mains at 9.50. Even then we had to ask where it was. I have to say my dinner was lovely but my wife and the other guests dinners were luke warm and in the case of our friend her dinner looked almost the strangest curry I've ever seen, neither my wife or friends would ever come again. I had eaten here in the past and enjoyed it and as stated enjoyed my dinner but this wasn't a good experience. They did take 10% off the bill and offered drinks we didn't accept as just wanted to leave but as for fine dinning not this visit thats for sure. They apologised by saying they were short in the kitchen and our server said he'd been working both in the kitchen and front of house that evening, but in all honestly it was a disappointing £140 spent on a poor meal with poor service. Just another dissapointing point, the beer was warm as was my wife's wine not a good visit at all!

Sunday Buffet - booked online, they put up a birthday banner which was nice. Asked for a couple of minutes to decide drinks 7-8 minutes later i had to go to fetch the waiter who was standing near the front. Made a hash of our simple drinks order, it did get confusing. The chap who came to clarify the order was apologising saying the waiter was new. Food the starters were very good. Dips good, Meat Mains good, Saag Paneer wasn't to my liking and unlike any saag i have had before, didn't try the other 2 veg. Kheer desert I was looking forward to was awful, had a strange taste which I can't place, but was not pleasant. Presented with the bill by a staff member and they put the charge for all the group (adults and children) at the adult price. So having interaction with 4 staff - Chap who took drinks, chap who served drinks, chap (manager?) who said the bill would be bought to the table, lady who bought the bill, I went to query it and (the manager?) seemed hesitant in saying there was a child price, and then the age it applied at, under 11 then under 10 - and when I gave the children's ages he was asking me how many would be at the child price? Just came over as amateurish, expected more from one of the highest rated restaurants in town! unsure if we were unlucky and went on a day they had all new front of house staff

I have been here a few times and the food is always great. The service can be patchy, though. On my most recent visit we waited for 90 minutes for our main courses which wasn't great. To be fair they did offer us free drinks but, as we were all driving, we could not take advantage. We'll definitely still be going back, though.

Our regular dining choice (takeaway and eat in) Food is always excellent. Love the menu, especially the fish dishes. Highly recommended. Only downside is that It can get extremely busy with reflects the popularity of the food, but can result in delays in service or delivery.

My wife and I just called in without booking and experienced one of the best Indian meals that we've ever tasted. Specialising in Nepalese food was also a bonus as a lot of very different on the menu. Staff were very helpful and attentive but not over powering making our wedding anniversary a "special memory". This was our first visit to Avatar but we will certainly be returning again. Definitely a meal to remember.

We order the momo and samosa. Great taste. For mains, Curry and the butter chicken are very rich and flavorful. Nice combination of herbs and spice. The Garlic naans are also very nice, garlicky and well-baked. Staffs are super nice and friendly. We had a great time with my mate’s leaving so.

We went to celebrate my friend 60th birthday at Avatar. We did requested few bits and bobs. They did more than what requested 😊😊😊. There were balloons and banners where our reserved table. Table was beautifully set up too. Very good service, very friendly staffs. Amazing food too. U should definitely try. Good atmosphere for any occasions too. There is parking space in the back of the restaurant too ☺️☺️☺️

This is quite a statement to make, but on Wednesday last week I had my single greatest curry ever. It was at Avatar. That's 35 years of trying various curry houses all over the Midlands. Fantastic food!

Extremely disappointed on this visit as we have thoroughly enjoyed previous nights here. Upon being seated were told the Banquet night meal was not available on a Music night. This has never been the case when we have been before on a music night. Also this was not made public in any menu or Music Night Advert. Our table was booked for 7pm and our food arrived at 9.10pm. Not the best service which is a shame as our previous visit had been brilliant.

The restaurant is conveniently situated with walking distance from the town centre. I had the lamb tikka breyani, which had just the right amount of spiciness and flavour, with the best tasting condiments, side dishes and extras, like nann breads, lime pickles, parpar and more. The service was really good without being in your face all the time. They offer a wide variety of Indian dishes spiced to perfection. I highly recommend Avatar.

Just came back from Avatar Dine to celebrate Birthday with family for the first time and can honestly say it was the worst vegetarian meal we have had at a restaurant at £40.00 a head. The service was disorganised and we requested mild food due to health reasons and received food with cream added to ALL of the dishes, so you could not taste the flavours of the different dishes and the food tasted bland and heavy. When we explained the issue to the waiter, his response was, the order taker had made a mistake and added cream to to the order. There was no mention of a refund on the dishes we could not digest, instead he suggested that the next time we tell the waiters not to put cream in the mild dishes. There will be no next time and I would not recommend the restaurant to anyone with a special dietary requirement. I have also contacted the person who recommended the restaurant that they are putting their reputation at risk. A simple gesture could have completely changed the atmosphere. The total bill was approx £140.00.

Avatar is by far the best Indian restaurant in Market Harborough and far beyond. The food is absolutley delicious, with a range of traditional favourites and some excellent Chef's specials and regional specialities. The staff always go out of their way to ensure we have a great meal here.

This is only indian I would dream of going too when I am back from Florida visiting family, I am a expat who's lived in the U.S. for over 10 years. The experience is always wonderful, every dish is excellent and great service. Actually went three times in a 8 day visit this time! I don't think you will be disappointed. Back visiting family three times this year and again the only Indian restaurant I want to go to, every time is wonderful.

Was very excited to go here looking at reviews, but nothing special, too much salt and sugar. Special dishs underwhelming, and my dish was raw. Can't fault the staff but won't be going back. First time we both left hungry as we didn't want to finish meals.

Never had a bad experience here. My latest dine in experience was busy and loud but the food and service didn’t suffer as a result. The Lamb Lababdar is tasty and hits all the spots of creamy, spicy and a hint of sweetness. I’m glad I was recommended to try it from someone else! Service is good and polite, I will be back.
