Went along to a wine tasting evening. Really enjoyable, friendly informal group. Hostess Lorraine was great and good fun, as were all the other staff. Wine and nibbles just right and very good value for money. We all thoroughly enjoyed! Stayed on after the event finished.

Just had a lovely meal here with my parents. I had gammon and my parents had the Sunday roast. The gammon was cooked to perfection and my parents really enjoyed their meals. Will definitely be returning for more!

Lovely atmosphere, Lovely food and efficient service

Was booked for my dad’s birthday, there was 20 of us in total. We all could not fault the speed of service and the food. Our experience was exceptional to be frank Much appreciated

We just love the British tradition of the Sunday Roast! The Aubrey’s was easily the best of our trip! What made it even more special were the amazing staff, we had a great time! Thank you so much we will be back!!

The manager gave us a very warm welcome and was able to advise us on the meals when asked about them, The overall atmosphere in the restaurant was really calming and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble I will definitely recommend them to friends and family.

Review written on behalf of Linda - Having visited the Aubrey Arms on many occasions I would like to write this review. They always maintain excellent service, very friendly staff, and exceptionally good food. And a lovely pint of Cruz Campo! I recommend this pub to everyone.

10/10 to all the staff involved in making my nephews birthday celebration a huge success. 21 of us had a lovely evening. All our meals were tasty and served in an organised manner with the staff going out of their way to make sure everyone in our party had the best time, thank you Team Aubrey.

Our little group of four writer friends meet at The Aubrey Arms regularly until about six months ago when we had terrible service. We decided to return as the menu had changed. I’m pleased we did. The waitress who has served us badly six months or so ago was nowhere to be seen, and instead the lovely, friendly and efficient lady was back and made our evening a pleasure.

A very pleasant visit and really impressed with where we were seated (conservatory). meal was very nice with a wide variety on menu. Staff very polite and helpful definitely worth another visit

We were greeted as we walked through the door and as i have mobility issues i was told where the accessible toilet was, our order was taken promptly and we didnt have to wait long for our food, which was great, our server Dominique was fantastic, our first visit was so good we are going back in two weeks for a tribute night.

What a great pub to visit, had a terrific meal and the welcome was warm and friendly. Being a Sunday evening it was quite when we visited so the atmosphere was not as I would expect but still good.

Friendly staff managed to squeeze the 3 of us in on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Nice that they have a menu for dogs and some treats for them. Food was good. Now has 2 charging points for electric cars.

Warm and friendly welcome from the staff. The establishment was very busy at the time of our visit. Good of meals to be had. The Buttermilk chicken and Popcorn chicken were served hot and were delicious for a starter. The main course was a tasty beef lasagne served hot and 8oz Sirloin steak which for the price of £16.29 was worth the money. The service was good and the staff were very attentive considering how busy it was.

Rude and bad food! Mac and cheese came with bbq sauce that was not stated on the menu. Kids burger was a meatball in a massive bun. The waitresses were pleasant but manager was rude and abrupt

Went here with my sister for food and a catch up. What a lovely place! Homely atmosphere, the staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was excellent, especially the desserts! Thoroughly recommend this place if you're passing.

Impromptu visit for a Saturday lunch. Big improvement on the last time we are here (a year ago). Staff were friendly and very efficient, food was very good. Only one option for cask ale but the Rev. James was pretty good.

The Aubrey Arms was lovely! We booked a table for 7:15pm which meant that it was pretty quiet in the pub, which probably helped with our fast service. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and took our order quickly. I had the Cheddar, Leek & Potato Pie and it was delicious! The cheddar sauce was really cheesy and paired really nicely with the leeks, the pie itself was cooked to perfection and the pastry wasn’t dry at all. It came with chips, peas, and gravy - the chips were lovely and crispy and you had a lot of them too. I would definitely recommend this place to someone else and would definitely return if I was in the area.

The waitress was kind, communicated in a clear and friendly manner. She was attentive and once we settled in, asked if we wanted drinks. Soon after the waitress took our food order. The food was cooked in good time and we all enjoyed. It was delicious and after a very stressful two days, the meal was a great pick me up. We all had dessert which was also very tasty. Great atmosphere and the setting was warm, welcoming, a lovely pub to visit.

Usually meet a friend here for lunch. Location is convenient between Cardiff and Bridgend. Our experience is always excellent, and we have been visiting for many years. The service is very good, and there is always a warm welcome from the staff, who are very helpful. Excellent choice on the menu and the quality of the food served is good. All set in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Always a pleasure to visit.

I know it was Christmas but it was so busy people standing around waiting for tables. There were 2 large party's which didn't help. There was plenty of staff and the food was excellent when we received it. I don't think the kitchen could cope with all the orders.

We have been coming to the Aubrey as a family for a number of years, and always enjoy the food and venue. The staff are always friendly and courteous- and more recently the theme events (such as breakfast with Santa, Halloween) and music nights have added another level, a great place.

We love the Aubrey Arms. Lorraine and the team are always so welcoming and there is always a lovely atmosphere in the pub! Can’t wait for Christmas dinner here 🎄🎄

We haven't been to the Aubrey arms for many a long year. Not sure why after yesterday. Lovely atmosphere, warm and welcoming and the food was delicious. All at very competitive prices. A very enjoyable two hours with the family and our dog. Easy to recommend.

We stopped off here for lunch and was blown away by service the food and best of all the open fire.

We ate here because we had a 'money off' voucher. Although it was reasonably quiet we had to wait 40mins for our starters but after that the speed of service was ok. Food quality was good but the staff did not seem particularly motivated and couldn't be bothered to ask if things were satisfactory.

Although the car park was fairly full and the restaurant busy, the service for drinks and our meal was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food, as usual, was very good.

Two lovely ladies served us and went above and beyond to accommodate our seating wishes. We had two delicious meals. The Gammon with egg and Jacket potato and the mixed grill. Warm and relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Food was lovely and although they were quite busy we did not need to wait long for our food.

A warm and inviting establishment that delivers friendly service and presents to its customers a really good quality pub grub menu. No rush to free your table and pricing set at a commensurate amount in line with what is delivered.

I booked online and requested a table in conservatory , we arrived and was warmly greeted by a member of staff who showed us to our table which was exactly as requested. We ordered our drinks which were promptly brought to our table with the menus. The menu offered a good choice and at a reasonable price. When our food arrived you could see everything was freshly cooked and was excellent , the deserts were the same. We found the staff to be very friendly, talkative and polite and gave us excellent table service all night. Can not fault anything and will be returning very soon.

I decided to book after receiving a promotion through the door with 30% off main meals. I booked for 7.30pm. The pub looked very inviting and the menu showed a nice variety of meals. My partner and I both decided on the breaded mushrooms for starters. I chose the chilli for main and my partner chose the hunters chicken. We waited approx 20 min for drinks when we were told there were no breaded mushrooms. My partner chose the wings I decided not to have anything. It was very busy there with just 2 staff waiting on customers that I could see. The waitress came back after 10min and said tgere was no rice for the chilli, they had run out! We waited for about 50min for the starter to arrive. The food was lovely when it did arrive and were of good portions. However the waiting time and lack of availability was disappointing. Running a promotion like this I would expect you to be well stocked and have adequate staff. Unfortunately it has put us off visiting again!

We had a lovely meal as part of my wife's birthday week. I had mentioned on the booking that it was for her birthday but this wasn't picked up by the staff at all. Anyway, the food itself was superb and the portions were a good size without being huge. The lady that took our order must have had a long day as she would have been better at the rear of house rather than front - no smiles, no pleasantries, just "ready to order?" However the young waitress and the lady behind the bar when i settled the bill were both lovely. I suppose we're all allowed an off day. It hasn't put us off and we'll be back for the Christmas festive menu in a couple of weeks.

We arrive at 6pm, to be told most things have sold out! Tried to make a new selection but had a waitress tutting and standing over me while trying to decide. In the gave her back the menu and sat there watching as the rest of my family ate a meal! First time visiting to eat here and no plans to return! What an absolute joke!

Disappointed customers after they seemingly forgot one order and waited about 40 minutes for food. This was an early Friday evening booking, taking advantage of the pub's recently received promotional flyer with its discount offer. I went with my wife, five year-old daughter, and dog. As we entered, the place looked warm and inviting and was seasonally decorated. After a short pause inside the front door, a member of staff appeared, took our booking details, and led us to a distant, somewhat dimmer and less inviting corner of the dog-friendly bar area near a fire escape. In their defence, my wife did ask for the further table to give the dog more space. We ordered some nacho sharers to start, followed by burgers. People near us arrived, and ordered and were served. Time passed. I grew increasingly hangry. We waited over half an hour for some nachos (just nachos), feeling very much like we'd been forgotten. I asked at the bar if our food was coming, and was told it was nearly ready. About ten more hungry minutes later our burgers arrived. No sign of the nachos. There was clearly some mix up with that part of the order. The burgers came with half a plate of thin salty fries. A small salad or coleslaw or anything green would have been nice. My chicken burger and my wife's veggie burger were both fine, standard pub fare. My daughter's quorn burger was almost rock solid in places, as if overcooked. No staff returned to our distant corner, asked about our food, or seemed interested in offering us dessert. I paid at the bar on the way out as I’m not sure any staff would’ve returned to our table, ensuring we weren't charged for the lost order, and that we redeemed the 30% off voucher. This at least helped take some of the sting out of a really disappointing experience. I'm sure other people there had a much better experience than us, but we're unlikely to return.

Drove past on our way to pumpkin picking and the external of the restaurant was gorgeous. Was able to easily book a table online and was pleasantly surprised at the affordable range of options when we arrived. The staff was fab, the food was gorgeous and the atmosphere was welcoming and cozy. Looking forward to returning!

Lovely place to stop for food on A48. We booked here before going pumpkin picking nearby. Lovely atmosphere as it was decorated for Halloween so helped set the tone for our evening. Children with the party loved the floating witches hats as we entered. Food and service was great. No complaints and they accept Blue Light cards which gave 20% off our food. Bill for 3 adults and 2 children was £60 which included steak meals and a few pints. Excellent value. Would highly recommend.

Food and staff very good. When we entered the restaurant there were these grotesque dark evil statues welcoming us in the foyer. We almost walked out. When you come out for a relaxing meal the last thing you need is to be confronted by skeletons and evil beings and darkness. There is enough evil and darkness going on in the world at the moment and for a restaurant to try and add to that is very disturbing

Whilst the food was average, but plentiful, slightly confused by the price. The website said one thing, the table menu was higher, the actual bill higher again. On questioning the difference between the table menu price and the actual bill price was told they could not get a reprint done in time for the Sunday service. On checking the website price a week later, that has changed to match the incorrect table menu price.......most confused.

Absolutely lovely food was fresh and well presented and bar staff / waitress' were both fantastic. Only 2 of them on and nobody had to wait - very attentive and pleasant.

Stopped for lunch on the way to the airport. Situated perfectly on the A48 it had a good range of food and the pub is spacious. Staff were excellent and food very tasty.

Service was great, although we ended up paying for bill at bar - not a problem but maybe let customers know that’s an option if the waiting staff are busy. The food is always very good, just what you want from a pub!! Good menu too. Caters for everyone.

Very impressed with the decor inside and out, very clean, pleasant staff and most pleased that the plates were hot when our food arrived, which I think is something sadly missing in many restaurants today. The food was of good quality and well presented.

Great Sunday lunch and they also do a doggy menu which meant our cavapoo had his own lunch too.

Not as good as it used to be! Frozen chips replace the real thing. Only plus point, my steak was well cooked but full of gristle, when this was pointed out they gave me my money back. Good service but food below expectations. Total spend after money back £17.75

I've never given a one star review for food before...ever! But feel obliged to do so on this occasion. Possible the worst steak I have ever had in my life. My wife, who is celiac, ordered a burger with a gluten free roll which could have been mistaken for a stone off of cold knap beach. Mentioned this to staff, meet with complete apathy.
