Atlantic coatbridge in North Lanarkshire

I ordered a pizza delivery on 12 April. More than 1 hour later I called back to get an ETA (I live maybe 10 minutes driving distance away) I was told that my order was out for delivery. About 10 minutes later my order arrived. The pizza looked like it had been in the oven for the whole hour then boxed up. It was burned to a crisp and also cold. Surely the staff member boxing this was alware that this was not good enough. I did call to complain. I don't think the girl I spoke to (who was very pleasant) was surprised to hear from me. Sorry, Atlantic, you've had your last order from my house

I went into this chipshop tonight and placed my order while I was waiting the old man who owns it started shouting at a girl about portion of curry sauce that wasn’t sent out.It was totally embarrassing listening to it he should of took her into the back of shop and spoke to her instead of shouting in front of us all waiting in the shop.My god it was only a portion of curry sauce I will give that shop a miss from now on

just left this shop the person in front of me being served around 30 years old was nor wearing a mask staff were not interested in asking if exempt from wearing a mask when i challenged him i just got an aggressive response the member of staff clearly knew him and made no attempt to enforce the current legislation then a woman who was also clearly known to the staff came in with a mask on However it was around here neck not here mouth i felt uncomfortable so canceled my order and left . i have 36 staff who frequent this shop i can tell you they will not be back either. If that is the standards they have in front of the customer goodness knows what is going on where the customer cannot see

Dry, overcooked chicken, plus the quality of the chips was shocking! the majority of which were tiny end slithers of potato cooked to a crisp, they should have been put in the waste not served to customers. Well, anyway, they ended up in the waste bin at my end! Would not recommend this establishment.

Absolutely the worst food I have had in a long time. First the Ricky supper came with no chips! Fish and sausage was as dry as a stick. Rank. Phoned to be told the next time I phone I wouldn't pay for chips. Won't be phoning again though so that doesn't help. DO NOT ORDER

How ridiculous. I cannot even rate their food as their drivers cannot deliver. Staff was rude and confused. I called twice to check order status. Turned out the driver could not read a GPS. Shame as they seem to be quite good. I will stick to Sandro's - they can read a map.

Went into this chippie about an hour ago, and a woman went in in front of me with no mask on, & went out the same door against the shop signs. When I asked the server why she was allowed in , I was treated with contempt from the girl server with the streaky blonde hair. Won't be back. To dangerous.

Absolutely disgusting chippy!! Took my online order and payment confirmed by chippy, then all of a sudden phone me to say they don’t deliver to my area! Put 3 different people on phone only to say no too far(it’s 2 miles) now need to wait 3-5 days for refund!!!!

Portion size great not enough salt and vinegear was luke warm on delivery quite cold had to put mostof it in bin will go to shop in future if i go back

Everything was either cold, soggy, tasteless or a mixture of both🤢 & also smaller size drinks to what we paid for!! Sooo disappointed with our takeaway & would not recommend it to anyone!!! At least our food bin got to benefit from it😂 A bowl of cornflakes for me it is🤦🏼‍♀️

Regular customer. Always has been really good and more often than not friendly and efficient staff. Had one occasion recently to complain and called up, explained my takeaway issue and was promptly told that a replacement meal would be offered free of charge the next time I ordered. I've always enjoyed the food, but ion this one occasion after several years of visiting, they made good on what was not the usual standard. I therefore cannot fault and would thoroughly recommend. I wasn't seeking a freebie, just wanted to air my disappointing food feeling. They rectified without hesitation.

I always order the same thing from here, everytime! Macaroni cheese, regular chips and garlic pizza bread. The macaroni wasn’t as good as normal but it was definitely still amazing and I ate every last bit! Chips are always good and if I were to say anything it would be that the garlic pizza can sometimes be quite dry and it would be nice if there was more garlic on it. Still a great meal tho and always a wee treat to order it in!

Really disappointed in the mac cheese, worst I've ever had. Chips were good but the macaroni tasted like mouldy cheese.

My colleagues and I have had food from here over the past few months. Mostly because I like the parking and it's me who usually goes out for the lunches. On the whole, not bad experiences although one day they forgot a haggis supper that I had to go back for. Not great when you have limited lunch break time. I had been advised by my colleagues to be wary, it's not a great chippie. Still, as I say, not bad over the months, about once a week. Yesterday was different. Two bags of chips from a "chip shop". Doesn't sound too difficult, does it? It was yesterday. I don't know what they did, but the excuse of chips served up was poor, very poor. Inedible after about three chips for both myself and my colleague. Called them and they apologised, offering ice cream as a form acknowledgement for the mistake. I will not be back, cannot take the chance at losing time from lunch. There are many places, including roll vans, locally that serve excellent chips at similar prices. Just seems surprising that small, roadside vans can provide better food than a site which portrays itself as a "chip shop".

My wife had just a portion of chips, they were very dry, even the dog would not eat them. I had a pudding supper, dry chips all the way through. The pudding was also very dry inside with a "crust" of batter which was solid. Tasted like a reheat. Staff very disorganised. No clear idea of where where to stand in line for order, people all over the place standing with wee bits of paper. Slooooooow service. Will not be back

I moved away from Airdrie 22 years ago and it’s been a while since I’ve had fish and chips locally. On my last trip I decided to try the Atlantic and wasn’t disappointed, it was voted best in 2009/2010 and it wasn’t hard to see why. The food was excellent and the service was very good as well. I noted some of the other reviews but everything was tip-top. I would certainly give it another visit next time I’m wanting fish and chips, might even try one of their other dishes,

As a treat to myself I occasionally have a delivery from Atlantic, usually consisting of homemade macaroni, chips & a garlic pizza. It’s a little taste of heaven! Anything I’ve ever ordered has always been lovely but this is my go to on a treat night!

Always fresh well cooked and tasty fish suppers - also serves other deep fried food as well as a selection of ice creams - can also give home delivery.

We went in n I order steak pie with fritter oh beauty taste to eat honest no soggy I look their tray on chip n with any food cook is clean fresh no dirty black soggy bur their is good heath proper my friend say their is good food so I give them 5 stars good quality food veg oil is good quality food if you n partner try go it worth it value money

What's with the dour faced server? Seriously, crack a smile love and try being pleasant. Or, get a job that doesn't entail customer service. If a customer asks for a bag for their food (which you should have offered them in the first place), don't slam it down in front of the customer with a sneer on your face. Your work colleagues and partner at home might find your attitude acceptable but, personally I'll take my custom else where.

This chippy fast became our favourite eat out place every thursday and sunday since my mum moved out this way last year.. the past few Thursdays have been a terrible waiting time despite phoning on ahead for collection. Also the past few Thursdays the girl behind the counter has been slow, foul mouthed and very unfriendly towards customers and staff around her.. tonight's visit however was great and split pudding was magic...

This chipshop lives off an award from years ago , its well run , very professional set up , loads of choice and very clean however its probably abt my 4th choice chipshop in coatbridge, the batter is always soggy as if the fryer not hot enough , the chips are ok but itsca little overpriced !

Food is always fresh and consistently good. Recently tried their pizzas as they are lovely - not sure if recently changed supplier of sausage but didnt find them as enjoyable but chips were lovely.

This chips shop is still one of the best in the country. It won best chip shop in the U.K. A few years ago and although it's different owners now and the standards have not changed.Great fish & chips, and their pizzas are really good, definitely one of the best there is.

Used to use no where but The Atlantic for Fish and Chips will now be using anywhere BUT this place....Customer Service Tip No 1 - When a customer asks for medium sized tubs of ice cream and mentions 3 different flavours if this is somehow not clear enough for you, politely ask the customer to clarify ..DO NOT screw your face up, exclaim"in the same tub ???" (obviously not) then turn to your pal behind the counter with a mocking look on your face....Customer Service Tip No 2 -- A customer phoning your shop will do so for only 2 possible reasons 1) Home delivery order or 2) Collection order -- Try to not be surprised by this, if by the 4th time the customer has told you they want a home delivery you STILL havent got that - TAKE A GUESS !! There's only 2 options - Don't keep harping on and on making it waaay too much trouble for said customer to even get to the start of telling you what they want....

Nothing even comes close in the area to the Atlantic fast food! Go here at least a few times a month! Fish supper is always plentiful, definitely a must!! I wouldn't go anywhere else now, always a busy chip shop especially at peak times but the staff are always friendly and prompt with the order it!

Came here to get a pizza crunch at least twice what i pay elsewhere, all i got was a burnt dry item of food, with no taste. my sisters meal was not much better, in conclusion over priced for food that is below par, this is defiantly no longer the best chippy in the UK, not even the best chippy in Monklands,

Having passed this chipshop several times on my way home I decided to give it a go. I couldn't help but notice the huge banners proclaiming that it has won the best chipshop in the UK, so I was expecting something special and to pay through the nose for the privilege. We decided to go for straight forward fish and chips to test the waters, after shelling out nearly fifteen quid for two suppers I needed a stiff glass of irn bru, so we returned home to eat.As i began to examine the most expensive takeaway fish supper of my life I was surprised to find that the peely wally things inside the box were indeed undercooked chips! Obviously most weekends I enjoy chewing raw potatoes as much as any man, but on this occasion I had just sold a kidney to pay for it and felt this just wasn't cricket!After we finished binning the chips it was time to move on to the fish, the fish was cooked okay if a bit greasy but completely tasteless and a sadly a good few bones left in both my fillets, wake up guys it's not that difficult...jesus wept! What a waste of money and food, it's so frustrating to see all the quality ingredients let down by poor execution. Fish gave up their lives! not to mention the huge potato sacrifice, all to give me and my wife some tasty munching on a Friday night. There doesn't seem to be any seasoning Involved in any of the cooking processes, or indeed care. I do realise it's only a chipshop but having travelled to many of the best in the UK I have tasted what can be done for less money in Oban or Anstruther for example, I don't know if it was a staff training issue or they were just having a bad day, but in my opinion they need to focus on the basics first before they can charge over the odds. Forgetpast awards (2009)and take the daft banners down and get to work on what your supposed to be doing, fry fish and chips well, before it's too late. Remember the fallen potatoes......always

I ordered two fish suppers, but only received one portion of chips. No salt or vinegar. Specifically asked them not to put tartare sauce in the hot box, but this was ignored. Facebook special was a free bottle of vinegar?? which although a strange one, was not in the bag anyway. When I phoned about the chips missing was told I could have a credit or chips delivered, which I asked for. 3 hours later still no chips. Never again. Family meal ruined.

Ordered a delivery - both kids meals missing. When I called staff told me I could either have the kids meals refunded or wait until a delivery driver was available to bring the kids meals to us but they couldn't tell us how long that be be. Neither option was ideal - especially as we'd waited 1.5hrs for the initial delivery to be made. Spoke with manager whoa greed to replace the full order so we could all sit down together to a hot meal. Less than 20 mins passed and there was two members of staff at my door who basically threw a refund into my hand, snatched the cold food off me and told me that the manage said he had no time to cook a replacement order. The staff were very confrontational so I closed the door on them. Absolutely disgusting! My partner called to speak with the manager to explain that this service was unacceptable and as a result our kids had been left without dinner and we'd need to organise something else for them and that we were disappointed all round. The manager hung up on him! I have to day that I will NEVER use this place again. Either in person or delivery. I have told all my friends, family members and work colleagues about our experience and we are all using another local chip shop who know how to treat their customers properly!

I come here once a week as in my opinion it's the best chippy in town. Macaroni is superb. Fish is delicious. All found cooked to a high standard, premises are spotless and staff are very friendly.

I know this place won 'best chippy in UK' about 6 years ago but I still expected better. They 'stockpile' fish in the heater which, although common in the central belt, is just bad patter given how much you pay for a supper these days. To be fair, we kind of scowled at this sight but the helpful & friendly staff asked the frier to put fresh fish in for us which he duly did. I'd say the fish was slightly above average for the area but I wouldn't rush back as there are much better places around if you are willing to travel.

This is truly the best chip shop around, everything is so fresh and tasty. There are many chips shops closer to me but my girlfriend and I always choose the Atlantic because nothing else comes close.

As a previous and loyal customer I am extremely disappointed and angry at the way first of all an assistant then a manager of this establishment tried to deal with my complaint !!!! Ordered two fish suppers got home quite a bit away no salt and vinegar ?? Phoned to highlight and obviously complain as who really who wants a chippy with no salt and vinegar - so after discovering no vinegar at home my food really was not going to be up to scratch !!! Wait for it first of all assistants attitude was rude aggressive and even defensive when I asked to speak to manager he came in pretty much with the same time apparently you don't get asked now if you want salt and vinegar so if you don't ask you don't receive if ???? Especially a phone order you need to ask for salt and vinegar really I am surprised at this as I was asked if I wanted a bag which I replied yes so is a bag more important than and vinegar oh yes they're making money out of a bag now - I will NEVER set foot in his establishment ever again and will also make sure that I also do not recommend them ever the fact of the matter is everyone can make a mistake but my main issues are they way I was spoken to downright rude cheeky customer service I don't expect Michelin starred service but I do expect a standard of respect after all Altlantic I do help to pay your wages and keep your establishment along with all your other regular customers ! When I'm back in the area visiting my mother we always try to have a meal from the Atlantic. Food is always fresh and perfectly done for Chippy food. Everything I've had has always been nice. As a tip for a small amount they sell a bag to keep food warm that can be used over and over well worth it and does keep food warm till home

Ordered a delivery which took an eternity. When I phoned, it had not even left the shop and was to take another 20 minutes. Asked if there would still be a delivery charge - they were so disinterested in their service that they refused to waive it.

Went back for a carry out after not having been there for a while and to be honest the food quality I got was poor. Got 2 battered fish and some fritters but it was batter like rubber. Maybe it was lying for a bit before I arrived but no way should batter be chewy. Also fritters were hard below the chewy batter.This place used to be so good but I will give it a miss for a while if I go back at all.

had friends up from my home town newcastle (still the best for fish n chips) so we called here for 2 fish suppers and mushy peas really good and this served the 4 of us...great value for just over £14....see you again soon.

I had a mini special haddock supper. The fish was delicious but the chips were a bit soggy and greasy which let them down. Would go back though.

Having fallen for the "best awared for Fish & Chips etc" adverts on & around this place, we tried it for a fish supper take away and were quite disappointed - the meal was only luke warm, the batter tasteless and flabby, the chips only half-cooked... all in all, we had tried a few Fish & Chips places and have to say, this was the worst. Needless to say that was the first & last time we ordered there.Much better choices in Airdrie, where went ever since.

First off you'll notice going up to this place is that they're hanging on to the 'best chip shop' title from years ago. Waited with my wife for what seemed like an eternity to be served whilst questionable kitchen boys ogled my wife and seemed only to be carrying buckets. Anyway when our order was taken by a woman who looks like she works on the side in a spray paint shop the price £15 plus for 2 fish suppers and juice? That's the price of fish I suppose. We got home to find plastic film in the fish. When I phoned to complain I was told I was lying so I took it up to the shop to be told I put it there myself. Shambles of a shop that once had potential but selling bits of the shop for a quick buck has let the place down

This chippy is slightly over rated in my opinion. Prefer the cod father in whifflett, you get more fish and chips for your money. They have a good selection of other food I.e pizza,pakora etc. but this is just my opinion make your own mind up.

There are a few "chip shops" around as the locals like to call them...but when it comes to a proper fish supper to take away, there is only one place in my heart, it's the Atlantic and we are talking about the restaurant here. They are consistent with the quality when it comes to battered fish.

So clean and well run here - the fish and chips are always made fresh and good side portions. They do healthy options and sometimes gluten free too

I have been going here regular since 2010 and it is always beautiful so I though it about time I left you a review. The fresh made pizza is amazing. Lots of the food is homemade and you can tell. Also a must try is there fritters mmmm

Poor quality battered fish, batter too hard, they forgot freebie, i.e. curry sauce. I messaged them on Facebook but they didn't even have the courtesy to reply.

In 2010 Skyscanner reckoned the Atlantic was in the top 5 fish and chip shops in the world.Whether this is true or not, there is no doubt that it makes a consistently good and tasty fish supper. Possibly not the cheapest, but the food is good and the service is friendly, efficient and quick.

Took the last of my money on my card then refused to deliver to my area. Said refund would be instant but ended up taking days. Will never use again

I went to this take away twice.I tried the fish breaded and battered Both of which had good meat but greasy and disappointing outers.I also had chips and fritters. The chips were above average but the fritters were to thin mostly batter and saturated in grease.It's most redeeming factor was the fried Mars Bars.I believe they were the best I've ever had.

Have given the Atlantic a few chances at demonstrating its award winning status. So far it hasn't been any better than most of the local fish and chip shops. Not worth going out of your way to visit.

I was excited to be visiting family when The Atlantic was holding it's gluten free session this time round. It's only once a month, on the second Saturday. So, in the interests of science you understand, I ordered a range of items. Things I've not had for years and years like battered mushrooms, onion rings and battered sausages. Having a wide range to choose from was great, and the chips were lovely. However the gluten free batter was a bit hard and unyielding. Staff were courteous and friendly, the food was hot, a good sized portion and well presented. They only do gluten free during this session to avoid cross contamination.

Has improved over the last year. So bad then I moved to the Cod Father. Back at the atlantic. Avoid phoning in order as it takes more waiting when you arrive than if you just order over the counter. Fish quality very good...fishcakes and scampi good. smoked sausage and cheesed battered burger in roll another favorite. Best used outside popular hours (friday and saturday tea time).

The Atlantic cooks fantastic Fish & Chips that better anything in the wider Glasgow area with the Philly in Kelvingrove coming a distant second. Can't quite compete with some of the east coast leviathans of the fried fish world but excellent all the same. Lovely generous portions of delicious haddock and well cooked chips. Shame they are not in the West End of Glasgow!

Even though the restaurant was closed, the staff went out of there way to ensure travellers we're feed. The fish and chips were cooked wonderfully and all the food was served to us hot. Other customers came in and they didn't hesitate but to make them food too. We thank the wonderful chef for offering to cook us food. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for amazing fish and chips.

Their oven baked pizzas are amazing, the sauce is lovely.have also tried many different suppers and have always been well fed and happy

This is absolutely the best chip shop I have been to abroad. I got the Haddock and chips. It came with two filets and was unbelievably fresh. Oil was fresh as well because it's didn't have that over used or reheated flavor. My boyfriend got the King Rib supper and it was a 10 outta 10. Will be heading back again real soon.

Came from fife to sample this wee chippy, given we have the Anstruther fish bar and Valentes locally. What can I say, shop premises was very clean, the staff were polite and the prices seemed slightly above average. The fish supper is served in 2 separate box's, which is either a good thing if you like red sauce on one and brown on the other, personally it just irritated me!.Fish was just......bland, didnt taste fresh and was quite greasy. Chips where nice enough and you do get a decent portion but I just felt the food served here does not merit being in the uk top ten!

This is by far thee best chippy around, their special fish is absolutely scrumptious. Your chips are individually wrapped, your given lemon and a little tub of tartar sauce, the shop is spotless and the service is second to none.Their range of food is brilliant, and their ice-cream counter, Mmmmm.

Having had a poor fish supper from this place previously, we decided to give them a second chance given their lauded awards.Unfortunately, the experience was exceeded but in the wrong direction. Not only was the fish almost non existent (more like a 'breadcrumb supper'), but there was a long hair included free of charge which put us off completely.Where the experience became seriously unpalatable however, was the disinterest shown in winning back our confidence and the implicit denial of their culpability (must have been the suppliers - no!) We were offered a refund in a credit note format for one supper despite both of us being unable to continue with either one. When I pointed out that a satisfactory solution would be to refund the whole order as a goodwill gesture, this was refused - clearly not interested in saving this particular customer.In the end we refused the credit voucher for obvious reasons and had the cash sum sent to our house, accompanied by the smallest tub of ice cream you could imagine - insult.Never again.
