Atholl Arms Bar Glaagow in Glasgow City

Still trying to work out why a Glasgow pub would think Hash Browns & cheap (plastic like) Link Sausages would qualify as a ‘Traditional’ breakfast in Scotland. At £9 it also came with 2 rashers of bacon, an eggcup of beans, a pullet sized egg & one slice of toast. IMO overpriced for what it was, & was not. Perhaps if they had even served an acceptable sausage rather than the cheapest meat paste they could source🤔

Eaten here a few times before and it was decent pub food at reasonable prices. However, this time it was different. Prices have shot up and the food was mediocre. Expensive fish and chips. I requested my chips be extra crispy ... not a chance. Soft and, to my mind, underdone. Actual fish was nice but in a soggy batter. All in all ... disappointing. Payment by cash only.

Very dear, a small bootle of Magners and a wine £13, not even a nice place, no atmosphere at all.

Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about this pub at all. Let's begin with the service: Jordan especially, absolutely amazing. Made me and my mates feel at home. Top top fella and the rest of the bar staff are lovely as well. The chef has been there for decades and his food is amazing. Drink selection is of high calibre and reasonably priced for a city center pub. So easy to get from this pub back to the bus station for a way home - so it's easily accessible. The atmosphere is how you make it, they have a jukebox and you can search for literally any artist you like. £1 gets your 3 songs. The toilets are clean and of very decent standard and to be honest the whole place is upbeat and modern. A brilliant pub. A hidden gem. A place that me and my mates call our local despite us living miles away. Anytime we are in Glasgow for a drink, this is our go to. I don't drink anymore as I am teetotal and the non-alcoholic selection is just as good as the alcoholic selections. Highly recommend anyone to go and give it a try for themselves. If I could give this place 100 stars, I would for the service alone. Jordan is a lovely lad especially. Not just a bartender, a dear friend also.

We came in for drinks on a Friday night. A decent selection of drinks and very good service and atmosphere. There was an older crowd in, which made it very relaxing and pleasant. We stayed for longer than we'd planned because it's a great place to meet up and chat. They very much prefer cash payment. Unusual now, but absolutely fine by me.

CHarged £21.50 for 2 small 1 glass bottle of prosecco absolutely disgraceful! Couldn't believe it !! Also so near to theatre and yet don't offer a pre theatre menu! Think this owner is only interested in profit not a nice community pub in theatre land! Bad move imo 🤷

The perfect Scottish pub. We were staying next door and popped in for breakfast on both days. The service was excellent, the food did what it said on the tin and most of all they are keeping cash alive! Brilliant pub, spotlessly clean, good value for money and the owners are very much ‘awake’ to what is going on in the world! Next time we are staying locally, we will pop in and continue to support this great wee local! Thank you for great service.

Met up with friends here before a gig at the pavilion theatre right across the road. Was extremely busy, but the staff all were really good and on point to make sure people were served in a good timely manner. I had the Angus beef burger with chips and it was really tasty & filling. All grub was at a good price point. Will use again next time I'm up in the great area of Glasgow.

Food: hamburger was hard to eat, no taste. Fish and chips has a funny feeling 😜 Seevice: there was noone else beside us in the place, still it was hard to get the attention of the waiters.

A great traditional boozer with excellent, hard-working staff who are friendly and accommodating who are always "on the go". I always have good banter with the bar staff and James, the cook. There are also loads of regulars that it is easy to have a good conversation with, which you don't find everywhere. I tried the haggis, neeps and tatties which was excellent. This is a pub that is well run with staff who do a great job and you will never find any trouble or unpleasantness in, which again, you can't say about everywhere in town. I always pop in when I'm in town for a few beers and will try some other menu items in future given how much I enjoyed the haggis, neeps and tatties. It is very near to Buchanan Street Bus Station, The Pavilion Theatre and The Royal Concert Hall so is very handy if you are going through the station or attending an event at the Pavilion or Concert Hall for drinks or a bite to eat and I thoroughly recommend a visit.

I have to say how disappointed I was after the bartender opened the doors to let me and my wife in for a meal only to be told by the man behind the bar to leave because they don't allow mobility scooters in the establishment I find this unexceptable in this day and age Especially as the place was empty of diners

Our first experiences Scottish restaurant. We traditional Scottish food and drink traditional Scottish beer. The wind it up with the dessert was really good. Service was excellent. Not too crowded. Not too much noise and they played music by the Old Crow medicine show what more you want?.

Went for dinner and drinks. The food was excellent. Staff really friendly and helpful. We had a bit of banter with the young waiter. He was great. Food was piping hot. We had just left Lauders who sell food but left there because TBH the bar staff were miserable. Glad we went to Atholl arms. Reasonably priced for good food and great banter.

Very good atmosphere...especially Charlie! On our first night from DUBLIN and Charlie helped us with both best prices on the trains and also recommendations around the city. Place was busy and it was not a problem at all to him he was very professional and very very helpful friendly. Chap is an absolute credit to the place.

Good city centre choice for a decent pint. I didn't try the food but breakfast is served until 4pm if you've had a late night before. Cash preferred.

Great pub in Glasgow. My husband and I had the 9" pizza, and it was a good amount for the two of us to split. Our waiter was very good, and it has a very cool feel on the inside of it.

We went for an early dinner last night before going to a film as part of the Glasgow Film Festival and this is now one of my favourite places to eat and drink in Glasgow. The food was piping hot, freshly cooked and very, very tasty. The staff could not have looked after us better. Highly recommend it.

I don't really know how to describe lunch. Looking for a quick meal before travelling from the nearby coach station, we popped in here. Specials included a fish tea at 10.95. We ordered 2. Food arrived. Huge plate made the offering served took totally ridiculous. Quite the thinnest fillet of haddock had been cut down the middle lengthwise, giving us half each! It must had been triple coated in breadcrumbs to make it look half decent. Imagine the thickness of a fish finger and quarter it! On the plus side, the chips, tiny portion of peas, bread and butter were OK. To rub salt into the wound this establishment begs payment in cash to save a few pennies. Don't encourage their miserly methods. Avoid.

A very serviceable pub let down by a minimum card spend that prevents 'popping in for one' whilst waiting for a bus at nearby Buchanan Bus Station, for example.

Visited around 6pm on a Saturday evening. Stood for ages being ignored by the not very busy staff. Got totally pissed off when someone gets served after just walking up to the bar so we left and went to the pub along the street. The staff need open their eyes and acknowledge who is waiting on service.

Stayed in a nearby hotel after a night out in Glasgow and couldn’t be bothered to get up for the hotel breakfast! Popped in here and got a warm welcome, excellent friendly service and a delicious breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

Brilliant afternoon here, food was very good, staff were excellent. Only one thing it was cold inside bit drafty where we sat.

Only stopped in for a night cap on way home. Had a couple of groups in for Xmas parties so music was pretty loud. Staff didn't seem in very festive mood but not impolite or anything so service was ok. Prices reasonable in city centre for 1 pint lager, 1 small pinot grigio, £9.60p.

We called in for a few drinks on what was probably the coldest night of the year. Unfortunately the warm welcome we received from the staff was not matched by the temperature in the pub. Although it wasn't cold enough to cloud our breath, it was necessary to put our coats back on. We weren't the only ones who noticed, there were 4 US tourists sitting opposite us, and we overheard them saying that it was as cold inside as it was outside. Not quite true, but it was still an indication that the atmosphere in the pub wasn't acceptable. The gentleman sitting beside us reading his book looked over as we were leaving, and with a little smile told us he was just about to put his gloves on! We didn't mention our discomfort to the staff, we just left, after all, what could they have done? The Drum and Monkey pub was much more toasty, and we enjoyed the rest of our evening there. I suppose we'll just have to limit our visits to the Atholl to summer nights from now on. What a shame.

A fine pub with very nice beer. Mostly, though, it is a restaurant with only a small amount of space for those who just want beer. Also, it is a long time since I came across a £10 minimum spend on card. It made me wonder whether people in Scotland still use cash. Maybe it's just a way of putting off casual drinkers. You can't even run a tab. Back to the review; good beer, nice atmosphere and really pleasant staff.

Came here on Friday evening for the first time, my friend and I were going to see a film and popped in for some quick food and a drink. Staff were pretty friendly, our server (unsure of his name) was really lovely! Food did take a little while, and the burger was slightly underwhelming, but the chips and salad were nice. Overall, not bad!

Stopped for lunch on a very wet Glasgow Sunday. We were greeted at the door by extremely friendly staff. Seated by the window we enjoyed a very relaxing lunch, people watching. There are very reasonably priced specials. The food was piping hot and the service was exceptional throughout. Lovely spot to wile away a couple of hours, enjoy lunch and a couple of beers.

I like this pub but the music doesn't suit the customers. I think it might suit the bar staff 🤔

£14.50 for 2 glasses of wine! Way over the top. Won't be back.

The food was nice. I had the Steak Pie, the only thing that let it down was that the vegetables were cooked from frozen. Other than that, the service was quick and friendly.

Stumbled in by chance going to Steve Hackett concert. So glad I found this place, best food we've had in a pub in a long time. Couldn't fault one single bite and the service was brilliant. Still here eeking out the time till the gig. Well done on a brilliant experience.

Came in for a pint while waiting on a friend, place was busy with people mainly eating, good sign 👍🏻 was a bit disappointed being told min spend was Ten pounds for the card machine, though they would give me change, bar staff were very friendly and polite, shame there is only three bar stools at the lower bar area ? And all tables reserved, think you want to rebrand as a restaurant. Cheers 🍻

We stopped in at the Atholl Arms on our way back to our hotel. A nice cheery looking pub with well stocked shelves and a good location, not far from Sauchiehall Street We received quick and friendly service from the two members we encountered. Although we only had drinks, meals were available and the menu had a good range of reasonably priced meals.

Staff very friendly and accommodating and menu extensive with prices on par with what you would pay in city centre.

It was a Sunday so I suppose no surprise it was quiet. However it didn't feel like a usual pub. You can order food there too and the tables are set out to accommodate this.

Excellent food and service! If you are an American looking for a great burger and fries, this is the place!!!

Second visit n probably my last. No atmosphere for lunch time people seemed to hang about not customers as not drinking or eating not sure if they were staff or their friends, Young man on his own serving pleasant , however food poor advertised as home cooked not sure about that as did not taste or look home cooked.So for these reasons won’t back.

Went in at 20.20pm and got a table straight away. Very polite staff and food was really good. We had the fresh haddock with option of it being battered or breaded and the steak pie with option of mash or chips. Portion size was perfect reasonably priced. Would definitely go back

Visited here after the Gladys Knight concert as it was the only place open. Was glad we did as the staff were very friendly and the range of drinks was first class and reasonably priced. Would recommend if you are at the Concert Hall.
