Aspendos Dover in Dover

I'm writing this whilst finishing my coffee! I normally eat Italian when passing through Dover but when my chosen restaurant didn't have a table ( for one...?) it didn't take much thought to try Aspendos. And I'm glad I did! Great food with generous portions, a good vibe and friendly service - what's not to like? Recommended!!

Very good food, friendly service, lots of treats from the chef and the restaurant - loved it!

Turned up to pick my kebab up in person to find my takeaway next to the front door where's it's cold, I would have thought it would have been common sense keeping takeaway food in the kitchen to keep it warm for collection!? You are paying a premium for the shish kebabs here compared to other local establishments so expect to have hot food when you get home, I even had my car heating on to keep it warm but it didn't and had to enjoy barely warm food. I will be returning to other kebab shops in the area to ensure the food is hot when collected in the future Shame as it was my first visit and didn't give me confidence to risk another visit

Great food and affordable. Portions were decent. But the real winner was the aesthetic, never seen artwork like that plastered on the walls. Very fitting.

I've just received the best Turkish restaurant delivery ever. These guys go out there way even when your ordering from home. The large family special we just received is amazing . Recommended for tourists, fine turkish cuisine restaurant. First up, the food. The portions were generous. They are all freshly made. Nice and tasty. They even gave us freshly baked bread as compliment while we were waiting for our dishes to arrive. Secondly, the restaurant is really beautiful inside. There are turkish themed paintings on Dover scenary. The dishes might seem a little expensively priced but they are very much worth the taste and portion.

We came off the ferry and decided to have a meal before heading on our long trip home. The restaurant was quiet in the early Tuesday afternoon, we were met with friendly smiles and welcoming, the food was superb and delicious. What a lovely restaurant, will most definitely have another meal when in the area again.

Extremely tasty Kofte, very large portion sizes, and the complimentary bread was fresh and super delicious . Their tzatziki was also a tasty addition to the bread!

Good service and the food was OK. Rice and cous cous were outstanding but the seabass was shocking!!! Way over cooked and just tasted of charcoal very disappointing. When i informed the the staff cleaning up the table the information was not relayed and was still expected to pay for something that was inedible. Ooo and the calimari was epic and would definitely recommend!. Their were different prices from online menu to dine in by a few pound per dish more expensive. Beer was nice and cold 👍

I am confident this restaurant gave my girlfriend and I food poisoning not to mention that our waiter wore AirPods every time he came to our table.

We've been here a few times now and have always had great food each time! Portions are a good size and flavours are always so delicious. I only didn't give 5* because recent price increases mean we can't visit as often as we used to.

Na een paar dagen Londen rond Kerst net voor het boarden hier nog gegeten. We waren redelijk vroeg dus het was rustig. Inrichting was leuk, gaf meteen een goede sfeer. Ontvangst en bediening prima. Eten was erg lekker en ondanks dat er voor voorgerecht niet geserveerd werd met een volle buik de boot op gegaan. Leuke afsluiting van onze vakantie.

Really lovely place to visit. The food is delicious and fresh, portions are quite big. Each kebab meat comes with rice and cuscus. Staff is super friendly and you will be looked after. Highly recommended!

Staff were amazing , so friendly and helpful . The restaurant is decorated in a very colorful/ traditional way depicting the Aspendos ruins . Beautiful lighting and very comfy chairs ! Now for the food what can I say absolutely delicious. The portions are huge and we can eat for ever but we were defeated and took home a " doggy bag ". Highly recommend the stuffed vine leaves , lamp chops , well everything really lol. Thanks for a great evening , delicious food and such a warm welcome.

Stumbled upon this place accidentally when needing to kill some time before cathing a train and it didn't disappoint. Friendly service, authentic food and huge portions. The prices seemed steep at first but they serve a complimentary starter so one kebab plate was enough to fill the two of us up.

Муж заказать бараньи ребрышки. Мы не смогла все это осилить😀 Продукты свежие, мясные блюда готовили прям при нас. Профессиональные повара. Перед подачей горячего блюда, нам принесли турцкий горячий свежий хлеб, и соус с овощами. Зал большой, современный, светлый, не похоже на другие пабы. Можно прийти с детьми. Delivious food and generous quantity！

Great lunch. Dover is such a rundown town so to come across this restaurant was lovely. We were greeted by a young lady who was wearing a headscarf. She was friendly and patient since we know Lebanese food more than Turkish. My partner is Slovak and she chatted to him: another waitress was Czech so we both chatted in Slovak with her. Enough - how was the food? We weren’t expecting such generous hospitality. The young lady brought a plate of flat breads; olives and tzatski (not spelt correctly) as an amuse bouche. That was a lovely touch. Mains - my partner had chicken shish with couscous and rice. It was huge. He said the meat was perfect and moist. He loved the couscous. I found things a bit more challenging as s vegetarian because I didn’t fancy the mains so had two meze - garlic mushrooms, which were lovely and grilled halloumi which was okaysih but I would probably choose something else instead since I think just rice would have fine beautifully with the mushrooms. We also had a large glass of Turkish white wine which was good. To finish some very lovely baklava and mints. We both left thoroughly satisfied. A great discovery in an otherwise miserable town.

Пошли на день родэждение, предварительно зарезервировать сто, стол не был готов. Так как это было день рождение, у нас немного заняло временни при выборе заказа, буквально минут 15, за это время к нам подошли 4 раза с тем чтоб принять заказ и я бы сказала что тон был не очень доброжелатьльный. Далее, мы заказали 3 анасовых сока и один яблочный, принесли всё наоборот, так жа просили стаканы для воды без льда, лёд присутствовал. Я уже молчу о том что у бутылки вина пробка поломался пополам и нам опять пришлось обращаться за помощью. Хорошо, все делают ошибки, но далее было ещё лучше, для того чтоб поставить главное блюдо, официант переложить хлеб СВОИМИ руками, без перчаток, так же, по истечении временни мы остались одни в ресторане, около 9-ти часов, поэтому они выключили музыку и стали прибирать прямо при нас и я, на данный момен не о столах, а о том что они начали мыть полы при нас и мы наблюдали мусорник практически по середине ресторана. В заключение хочу сказать, еда вкусная, но обслуживание ниже нуля. Поэтому если вы любите хороший сервис, не советую идти туда.

We were in Dover for two nights and found this restaurant at 12 King Street. This Turkish Restaurant serves a variety of foods to please every palate. We ordered the Aspendos Special which consisted of beef, lamb, chicken, rice and salad platter and according to our waiter it is enough for two. However it was enough for four small eaters. The restaurant is clean, service is prompt, food is hot and pricing very reasonable considering the size of the portions. Very family oriented as well Menu has great selection of food and beverages as well as specials As we were leaving the hostess offered us Turkish Delights to compliment the fine meal. Would recommend this restaurant

The service is terrible. They gave us two wrong meals and want to charge us for it. Saying that this is our fault for not recognizing our order. It’s a fraud case and I saw on internet reviews that it’s not the first time. Also, the food was just ok, so this is the first and last time coming to this restaurant. The most terrible situation I have ever met in restaurants.

Dinner with my 2 teenage children. We ordered the Aspendos special for 2-4 people. It was very generous and it would easily have fed another 2-3 people. It was really delicious and the meats were all marinated in different ways. So good. The staff were just delightful and we were given complimentary baklava after dinner and offered Turkish delight as we left. Only criticism is that we had to wait a while for the bill I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and we would be happy to return.

Beautiful interior and attentive, kind staff! Consistently good food and a great option for vegetarians like us. Would recommend the halloumi casserole, was our favourite dish of the night. Also loved that they gave us very well seasoned couscous on the side without us asking for it. Generous bread basket with tzatziki at the start and the Turkish delights at the end before leaving were also a great touch.

After touring Dover Castle and walking back to our hotel, my wife and I opted to stop at Aspendos for dinner. What a great choice it was. The service was both friendly and efficient and the dinner was spectacular! We opted for the Aspendos Special for two which included Lamb Shish, Chicken Shish, Kofte Kebab, Lamb Chops, Lamb Ribs and Chicken Wings. More food was served than we could finish but everything was extremely tasty. If travelling back to Dover, we would certainly make a return visit.

The food was excellent. We had stuffed vine leaves & sucuk for starters. They both were great. We were also brought olives, tzatziki sauce, and pita. We had lamb kabob & halep kabob for mains. The flavors on everything were good. I thought the lamb was a tiny bit tough, but I don’t eat lamb often and maybe this is the way this dish is made. We had the rice pudding & baklava with coffee. It is a thinner and sweeter rice pudding than I’m used to but the flavor was good. The portions on everything were generous and we left stuffed.

We always use Aspendos for a take away. At least once a week. The food is amazing. During their offer after Christmas the portion size was a lot smaller. The food is always amazing though. But on this particular order I wasn’t happy. I emailed numerous times but you never get a reply. This is the only downfall

If I could give Aspendos’ 10 stars, I would! I said to my husband,”I just found my favorité Turkish restaurant and I live in Colorado, USA…oh dear!” The appetizer consists of olives, to-die-for tzatziki sauce and buttered pita. We both had the mixed kabob and all three meats were tender and savory. Dont miss this outstanding restaurant!!!

Beautiful delicious food cooked fabulously and when I realised I had ordered way more than I could possibly eat. The waiter kindly put it in a take away box so I had something to look forward to the next day!! Accompanying wine was also really lovely…yakut… the wine went really well with the food we’d ordered. All in all a very positive experience and I would highly recommend. Also service excellent

Really had a great experience in Aspendos and will definitely be returning in the future. Food was very tasty, couldn’t fault anything that we had. Cooked fresh and huge portions. Not been to a Turkish restaurant before, but have had takeaway kebabs from local kebab shop million times, but I was so pleased that we went and tried, and so many different options of food. The menu list is huge- so much choice that there should be something for everybody. We look forward to returning again and again. Service was also excellent cannot fault. The only reason I marked down was as there is very large doors anytime anybody comes in or out you get hit by an icy breeze- even sitting right at the back of this large restaurant. They however cannot help location. When we were finishing they were cleaning the kitchen down, which you can see from the restaurant, and I must say it was so pleasing to see the regime as it was really a deep clean. Great food cannot wait to be back

If any of you have read my other reviews you will note that I am notoriously difficult to please. Which is why I keep going back to Aspendos again and again. I have travelled widely and I love my food. I have eaten in some really swanky and expensive Michelin starred restaurants, and I always find something to grumble about. Aspendos give me consistently good food, every time, superb service, great value for money and unlike some of the Michelin starred establishments I never leave hungry. This is my favourite restaurant in Dover, no, in Kent, no, the world. Looking forward to my next visit.

Amazing restaurant. The venue is well decorated and laid out so they can accommodate small and large groups. The food is very nice and cooked well, portion sizes were large and provide good value for money. The staff are very friendly and were on hand to help when needed.

The Aspendos special is huge. Not the best Turkish food I've had good nonetheless. Service was cordial and efficient. Loos were disappointingly messy even early on in the evening service so that's always a red flag for me. Makes me think "what's the hygiene like elsewhere?". Sure enough, sticky patch on our table reinforced that thought. We ate anyway and the food was fine and plentiful. Reasonably priced.

Amazing restaurant with superb food and HUGE portions.

The portions are super big and the meat is ultra tasty. The menu might SEEM a bit pricey at first glance but I assure you, its worth every penny and more :D I would give more than 5 stars if it was possible!!!!

Definitely enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The wall decor was beautiful and gave the restaurant a nice atmosphere. The food was delicious and the staff members tended to our needs. I have been to many delicious Mediterranean restaurants this was horrendous. My drink has some kind of bits of food in the bottom the plates were dirty. I had mixed kebab the meat had burnt edges and no flavour the salad was watery. My partner ordered prawns for the starter they were rough and looked old he didn’t even touch it. The only edible food was the bread which after the rest of the experience we couldn’t really eat as we were concerned about the hygienic issues with this restaurant.

We stopped in for lunch recently and took advantage of their lunchtime menu. For £9.95 you get an excellent choice of dishes and a free soft drink. I chose the baked and stuffed aubergine and my wife the chicken shish kebab. Portions at Aspendos are famously huge, the lunch menu is no different! We ended up taking half our meal home and Aspendos are more than happy to provide you with take away containers. The surroundings are superb and we love the wall coverings which are quite unique. Staff are excellent and attentive and we like how seating outside is provided during better weather. Plenty of parking is available in the St James car park a short walk away.
