Very good food - super noisy upstairs though!

We were happy with our food, but I think we struggled to understand why it cost so much. For £20 I would’ve expected more than two kebab skewers

Our pick of the Cockermouth restaurants. Came for dinner and returned for the excellent breakfasts. For dinner we had the mixed grill and it was all cooked very well with nice chilli sauce. The bread is freshly baked and delicious. The desserts on display when you walk in are also very tempting. We tried most of them and I loved the cinnamon and apple tart. The decor is tidy here, very clean and new. The service is friendly from the owner and staff. They clearly have a hard working kitchen too. The breakfasts should be tried too. The cold platter is more of a continental breakfast option. We also had the hot breakfasts which at £14 are amazing value and more akin to a Turkish brunch. Great place this and it won’t let you down.

Stunning flavoursome food for all. Two vegan and two meat eaters

Absolutely lovely place to eat. The staff looked after us brilliantly and the food was delicious. It's also one of the only restaurants in the area that is open on Sunday, which was handy for us! Clearly marked veggie and vegan options too, which was much appreciated. Just remember to take some cash to tip, as they don't accept tips on card.

Staying few days in Cockermouth so tried this restaurant Aspava for an evening meal, just me & my husband. Friendly atmosphere, all staff very attentive, premises clean, service very good. FOOD was excellent!! Good size portions. Prices reasonable. Thankyou for making a special occasion - SPECIAL! Certainly recommend the restaurant.

Went for mums 90th celebration as it’s her favourite place and it was superb as usual, the food is amazing and the staff are so accommodating and attentive without being intrusive, totally recommend this place and the pistachio cake is sublime!!!!

Been three times, once for Turkish breakfast and twice in evening- love the food , waiter explains choices/ ingredients and gives recommendations. Really flavoursome food, very clean and can see chefs doing the cooking when sitting downstairs - definitely worth a visit. Also have patisserie range which looks delicious but haven't yet tried

A brilliant Turkish restaurant in the heart of the high street. Again, like with other restaurants you need to book in advance. A very spacious restaurant. You walk past the kitchen and you can see your food being prepared! Amazing. Very upmarket and I’d recommend dressing accordingly. Fresh, quality ingredients used throughout and all served piping hot. The wait staff and other staff are very friendly and helpful. Prices similar to London but this is quality therefore worth it. Wouldn’t hesitate to return!

We had very good coffee here and the Honey cake (home made) was really tasty, also turkish pistacio slice was seriously wonderful. Very helpful friendly staff, highly recommend. When back in the area will come here for a full meal for sure.

Lovely food, restaurant & service. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly & attentive. Originally went for our evening meal but picked up some pastries the next day for lunch, also! All delicious and reasonably priced. Thank you to Tracy & Mehmet for their kindness & hospitality!

We had dinner and sat upstairs. The space was amazing, the beams were beautiful and really added character. Staff were really helpful and attentive. The food was lovely - and there was a lot of it! Portion sizes guarentee you won't leave hungry!

Felt rushed and pressured to order drinks and food. The food came quite fast, and it was average. Pide was a bit disappointing as lots of cheese but not much else. The waiter almost took the plate from my friend who didn't finish her meal! It has amazing reviews but I felt a bit disappointed with the experience. Shame.

Superb restaurant for a high quality evening meal. The atmosphere was vibrant and staff so friendly. The feta salad was best we'd ever had and the Shish kebab was so flavoursome and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this restaurant, you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely the best restaurant I've to in a long time. We ate here 2 nights and a breakfast too. Food was great, service second to none. Forgot to come in for pastries on our leaving day. Just have to come back.

The Service of Aspava in Cockermouth was amazing however there isnt enough variety of food dishes on the menu. Along with this, The chicken iksendar kebab on the menu wasnt the greatest taste as at the bottom of the dish the flatbread was covered in the tomato sauce and tasted like a "ball of mush" in which another family member I went with agreed.

Basic decor, large portions and good service for mid-range Turkish food.

Came here for dinner last week and found it a bit underwhelming. The staff and service wasn't particularly inspiring - most of the staff seemed pretty unhappy and didn't really seem like they wanted to be there, one member of staff however (who was maybe the owner) was very welcoming. The food was decent enough but very overpriced for the area (most of the mains are at least £20).

We came across this whilst looking for a coffee stop during a busy Saturday morning food fayre in September. Everywhere was busy but although we only wanted coffee we were made very welcome . Other diners were eating a late breakfast or lunch and the food looked amazing so we asked for a table for dinner. At night the place was buzzing , the decor warm and inviting but the food just the best Turkish cuisine we’ve ever eaten. Freshly cooked and homemade, we had watched the chef making the bread in the morning. Our starters were delicious, tender liver, fresh rich hummus with homemade bread, sucuk kuvarma, a spicy beef sausage and hallumi. The mains were stunning quality meats , super tender and perfectly cooked. Portions are generous and the salad and rice freshly cooked. This place is a real find and I’m really sorry it’s a 4 hour drive away from home for us as we would be regular diners. A popular find for locals as all of the tables were booked on the Saturday night. Unusually for a Turkish restaurant they also serve alcohol. We accompanied our food with draft beer and a crisp Sauvignon blanc. Aspava is a terrific restaurant , spotlessly clean and staffed with hard working friendly staff who obviously take a pride in their profession and establishment.We didn’t have room to sample the desserts but the homemade traditional pastries looked delicious. Certainly worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Received a warm welcome. Service and food was excellent. The staff couldn’t have been more friendlier or accommodating. First class from start to finish. The food was delicious and authentic as you would find in Turkey. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Turkish and Mediterranean food. Unfortunately we do not live in the area but if we are here again we will certainly visit them again. Just had to take some Baklava home with me :)

This restaurant was amazing. The food was great, the atmosphere was good and the staff went above and beyond to help us and recommended what to eat. My husband is disabled and they accommodated our needs by giving us a down stairs table and space to accommodate his mobility scooter. We had a fantastic meal and will go again

Lovely restaurant in the Main Street in Cockermouth. The owner and his wife as well as their service are friend and helpful. The food was very good! Having just been in Turkey 6 months ago, I must say the food in this restaurant was better than in Turkey. We ordered a few starters and mains and everything was absolutely delicious! My personal favorites were: sigara boregi (filo pastry rolls filled with feta), Ali nazik kebab (lamb kebabs on a bed of aubergine and pepper yogurt). For dessert, the Antem Katmer is one of the best desserts I’ve tried! Will definitely be back!

A fantastic meal and the lamb in my dish was like cutting through butter (best lamb I have ever had). It is no wonder this restaurant if always full.
