Superb service. Friendly, funny and fast. Pollo Milanese was excellent as was the mushroom risotto. Bottle of wine to wash it down. 55 quid total

Classic, simple and done brilliantly. Our waiter was enthusiastic, professional and was a pleasure to have serve us. Staff on a whole were nice and polite! Food was done well, and there was a short waiting time (pretty short, 10> Mins) Atmosphere was nice! It's just a very nice example of a brilliant Italian restaurant. 9.5/10

Good food but we were seated upstairs in and echoey room with a group of drunk women on a hen night that made it impossible to enjoy the experience. Waiting staff did nothing about the racket!!!

Great food, good vibes, let down by poor service. Waited 30 mins to order dessert before giving up, then waiting 10 mins just to pay the bill despite only 2 other tables being in the whole restaurant.

This was the first time visiting Ask Italian and what a great meal we had, by far the best compared to other Italian restaurant chains. The food was freshly prepared, cooked perfectly and really enjoyable. Also great value. Ian looked after us brilliantly and helped to make the evening a success. Thanks.

I have always liked Ask in Cardiff… so this time I phoned to reserve a table. Their phone system was a truly horrible automated booking thing. Why couldn’t I speak to a real person?!!! Who thought that having customers speak to a machine was a good idea? Well done to the Ask management… you really fell for that sales pitch! A restaurant is all about the service you give to your customers, and that starts with first contact. If I want to speak to a machine I’ll phone the Inland Revenue. I hung up and booked our party in elsewhere 😠

The food was lovely and the portions are good but the service is what really stands out. Our party was served by Callum who was very friendly, attentive and incredibly thorough in explaining the allergen guide. Checked on us to make sure everything was good throughout. Overall a positive experience, would recommend.

What a lovely dinner we had at Ask Italian tonight. We've been served by Ian and he couldn't have done more for us. He made great recommendations and looked after us so well throughout our visit. We're looking forward to come back!

Me and my partner visited today for lunch. The food was delicious. We had carbonara and one of the pizzas. The place itself looks pretty and it's very clean. HUGE disappointment towards the atmosphere.. We were sat by the kitchen and while trying to enjoy our meal, we could hear, very well, how the chef and our server were swearing. It made us feel very uncomfortable as we don't enjoy this type of language. The staff should be aware of Polish customers.

I had a Beef Brisket Pappardelle ragu and it was BEAUTIFUL! Pasta was nice soft tasted fresh and cooked to perfection 👌 sauce was lovely so was beef. I really really enjoyed this pasta dish and wil definitely try other Ask Italian locations as this was my first! Service was absolutely amazing, everyone smiling and so friendly! I really enjoy my visit to this restaurant! Prices are quite Good too and its definitely worth it 👌

Amazing service on a busy Saturday night

Shambles from start to finish, was given a glass with lipstick on which was not replaced. Took 45 mins to get served to take our order.. we ordered a starters and mains to come together, the starters came and no mains.. 40 mins after finishing our starters we had to go to the bar to let them know we finished our starters and then another 30 mins our mains arrived. The food was overcooked and did not taste pleasant. We only wanted to have a nice enjoyable meal but ended up spending alot of money which was not nice and wasted 3 hours of my time. Will not be going to ASK Italian again.

We are counting calories post-Christmas so opted for a light lunch trying out the Verdure Bowl, with chicken. This is a warm salad. We were delighted with the taste and quality of the food with very attentive service as well. We used our Tastecard so the meal worked out as excellent value too.

Went twice to this restaurant for evening meals. Sevice fine, and prompt. Food and drinks served on time. Dishes were ok, reasonable sized portions. Burrata salads fine Would go again

Came here for my birthday with my fiancé and what a lovely place. Food was outstanding and our server marmaduke was brilliant. Made sure our drinks were never empty and also wasn't hovering over you like you get in most restaurants in the city centre. Would highly recommend and will be returning aswell. 11/10

Food was exactly what you pay for, not too expensive and worth every penny. Grande lasagne was spot on, setting is casual yet intimate and the service we had was great. Not a issue to write about.

Calum was at our beck and call and so helpful... he made our whole experience so nice and relaxed. Our food was delicious... we were here last night and came back for more...

Good food and decent service despite being busy but very cold downstairs with large windows either side. It seemed like there was no heating downstairs, upstairs was toasty in comparison

Booked a table. Seated downstairs near the kitchen. The food was absolutely delicious as was my cocktail. The service was excellent and an extra shout out to Charlotte our waitress who was the sweetest thing, very knowledgeable and provided attentive service with a smile. We were not as impressed however to hear the main chef yelling at her and other staff. He was clearly stressed but very unprofessional and it was uncomfortable to hear him yelling at such lovely staff. It was also very cold where were were sat. Still 5 stars overall for the food and lovely Charlotte. Thank you.

Positives first, Clean with some staff very helpful 👌. The second waitress was brilliant. 👍 Food was tasty on the second visit to the table. Reasonable prices. 👍 The initial waitress was very condescending which was off putting 😳. Hot food brought to the table on COLD plates 😠, get the basics correct please! The heating wasn't up to much for a December winter visit 😫. Not really worried about revisiting 🤔 .

What a great place for real tasty Italian food. I had the mushrooms with mozzarella as a starter. Mmmmm they were tasty. Then the lasagne. That was absolutely brilliant. They did a homemade lemonade. The food was excellent and the girls who served were lovely. Thanks for making my day. See you soon.

For anyone who reviewed this place with great food and service, agreed. A group of 8 of us and the staff went out of their way to ensure we were looked after and had a good experience. Everyone had a different dish, everyone enjoyed their food. Most also went for a dessert, again a success. A nice touch getting a shot of fresh lemonade to kick things off. Not at all expensive for what we had and the staff were excellent, attentive and assistive throughout so thank you. Would definitely dine here again if I was in the area.

A little cold in restaurant Sea bass dish, excellent

The flavours were good but the portion of seabass I had was appalling. When I lifted the vegetables to reveal a tiny slice of seabass for the price of £17 odd, I was disgusted. Also the plates were greasy! Not acceptable.

Food was delicious, we ordered 2 pizzas, carbonara + lasagne as our mains - were beautiful. Then shared 2 Brownies between 4 of us - very tasty. Portion sizes were great. Staff were great and accommodative. Bathroom facilities were up to standard. Felt more like a café/bistro rather than a restaurant.

i was greeted by the most impolite waitress. the place was nearly empty and when i asked for a table for 3, she shared a snarky glance with her co-worker and said there is no availability until 2 hours from now. this is the second time this has happened to me. i believe the staff has an issue with people of other ethnicities. i would not recommend this place to anyone.

First time at theCardiff Ask chain and sadly my last. We were shown to a table where the seats had really seen better days, covered in stains. The server was very amiable and pleasant and took our order promptly. He is a credit to this venue. The pizza served was bland and I thought quite soggy and the one vegetarian option salad was agin small and lacking any real flavours. My partner mentioned dessers but staff were talking behind the bar area and there was no offer of a dessert menu. By this point I was happy to leave but my partner caught staff attention for a menu. The gelato and ice cream option was three very small scoops rammed into a small white bowl, no presentation at all. The spend was over over £50 and a disappointing experience.

The service was great, but the food really let it down. I got the truffle ravioli because I love truffle, not only was there no truffle taste, the portion size was tiny, and there was no sauce, only oil. Considering all I got was a few slivers of courgette, and about 7 pieces of cheese ravioli in oil, way overpriced. Very disappointed

Ordered kids meals for delivery. When they arrived there was glue all over the pizza base which has made my 2 kids sick. All I was offered was refund on pizza.

Service pretty poor, had a long wait before anyone appeared to take our order. Food was pretty much as expected for this sort of place, my pizza was actually quite good but the £1.50 charge for the addition of roasted red pepper would perhaps had been justified had there been more than 5 or 6 small very sad looking pieces.

I've been to ask Italian for the second time, but for the first time at Cardiff. Busy that usual, so I recommend booking a table. Ordered for 2 mains and a side dish. Both the pastas were good. I've been craving pasta for quite a long time from an Italian place and finally got to have it. Was well satisfied with the taste and portions. The service was excellent. Ambience is also good.

Went to Ask Italian in Cardiff for the first time today. first thing that impressed me was the lovely staff, three lovely ladies all very professional, very sweet and knowledgeable, couldn’t do enough to help. I ordered the prawns with garlic starter, best prawns I have eaten in Cardiff for a long long time and the smell of garlic which I love was fabulous. Then a pizza, alas no anchovies which is my preference, it was nice but not my fav and will try pasta next time. Dessert was a delicious lemon tart. I had intended having a proper main meal eg chicken or fish or steak but was a bit surprised they only had four mains and yes one was chicken but I didn’t fancy the one they had and I didn’t fancy anything else so a bit unsure why they don’t have more mains as well as the pizza or pasta. Big choice of desserts that looked nice but think I would go for the lemon tart again.Yes enjoyed my lunch thank you.

Group of 10 of us, all the food was very poor. Could tell it was made days in advance and frozen. Nothing fresh. Garlic bread and pizzas were very very poor. Cocktails were very weak and watered down. Table was sticky too - as if it hadn’t been cleaned properly in a very long time. Just overall very bad.

Ask Italian is a great chain, I've visited 5 to 10 of their restaurants and had the same positive experience in each, this being no different. Food was good, nice cosy table for 4, friendly and attentive service. Fairly priced and came away feeling like we'd had an enjoyable couple of hours. I recommend this restaurant.

Nice and quick customer service, very polite and welcoming. Great food, big portions. I can highly recommend and I'm sure I'll be back. The only thing they could do is to clean all decorations as they're covered in dust.

I was expecting this to be franchise type food where you could tell it had been warmed from vac pack, it may well have been but I couldn’t tell this time. The pasta pomodoro and garlic bread was excellent in both taste and portion size. Lunchtime bottle of wine was also decently priced. Other members of family had the Bolognese ragu, also very tasty. I would absolutely come back if the same can be delivered consistently,

I came in with 3 of my friends to eat lunch here, the table we sat in had leather chairs which were very dirty to the point were we had to put tissues on top so we could sit. Even when we asked for tissues we were told with a stanky tone that we could use the ones provided for the cutlery. We then asked for plastic forks because we didn’t feel comfortable eating with the metal ones. The food was difficult to eat with plastic so I opted for the metals again hoping that they were not dirty. The fork had food on it and left me disgusted. I told the manager and she didn’t even apologize or even admit to their mistake. She just said that “these things happen” and she would just provide us with new cutlery. I told her that we do not trust that she will give us clean ones if they didn’t even bother to check the ones we first got. She left the fork and didn’t even take it to the kitchen. I couldn’t even finish my food because of their lack of hygiene and respect.

Great service, great food, great drinks, and great atmosphere. I ordered a pizza without cheese and it was absolutely no problem. Received free samples of raspberry lemonade and lemon water. A very spacious restaurant which is easy to get to as it is bang in the middle of the city. When you have finished then you won't have to eat for the rest of the day. We just ordered mains and had no room for any dessert. We were completely full afterwards.

Visited Ask before venturing to the Harry styles concert. From start to finish the service was outstanding! The food was delicious! We were so happy we choose this restaurant at our stay in Cardiff. I highly recommend. Thank you for making our day so special 💗

The food is very tasty, but the services are worse in the UK than I have ever met. None of the people care when we are asking for help, and the staff makes too many mistakes. Maybe the management should think about the training. But please let me mention again, the food is perfect.

Restaurant was quite empty but told it was fully booked. We were put to eat out of the restaurant on the side road. No staff served us. We were like forgotten. We were asked to order food and drink with the QR code, but all doesn’t work. We ended up waiting for almost an hour to eat. Food were fantastic, staff we’re disappointed.

Unfortunately was disappointed with our visit. Hadn't been for a long time but decided to give it a try. Starters were ok and desserts were nice but my husbands main course of chicken was very poor. The breadcrumbs were soggy and falling off if, the potatoes were under cooked and the broccoli was in a, soggy pool of water. My pizza was fine and the service was good but sadly wont go back. There's much better Italian's in cardiff.

Had what was supposed to be pasta with truffle sauce, at £13.95! I had 7 or 8 filed little pasta pillows with something that was tasteless. It was on top of (melted butter - must have fried a button mushroom and chopped a minute bit ) and a few leaves on top. The garlic bread was nice. I wouldn't pay a £1 for the pasta. Tasteless, and way over priced. Won't be going there again. I even left the £5 voucher they offered.

What An amazing experience myself my sister and friend took our daughters before going to watch Harry styles and we where absolutely blown away by your waiter calum. I myself have worked in the food industry for 6+years and this waiter was outstanding he remembered everything we wanted to order he was so polite and made our experience amazing. He is an absolute credit to the restaurant and deserves so much credit. The kids thought he was great and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much and the food and wine was also amazing.

Came here for the pride festival Saturday with friends for food and drinks, the staff and the food were phenomenal. We even came back the day after for a hangover cure!

We had the BEST meal ever! We’ve never been to Cardiff before so we’re looking for a nice place to eat and since this restaurant isn’t available in our city we thought we’d give it a go and it definitely didn’t disappoint! The servers were so welcoming and friendly and just so on it all night it was amazing! The cheese fondue for starter was to die for we could have had 8, the mains were also incredible and we just managed to squeeze in dessert, I had the Biscoff Cheesecake and my friend had the Chocolate/Nutella Gnocchi and they even brought out a free slice of Chocolate Orange Cake to apologise for the wait which we didn’t mind but very gratefully accepted and appreciated. As it was my birthday they also discounted off one of my cocktails from our bill (which was very reasonably priced) which was also greatly appreciated. We didn’t catch the servers names, however the male server in the checkered shirt was so friendly and attentive while the female waitress in the red trousers was lovely to talk to (especially since we were all seeing Harry Styles in concert☺️) All in all the whole experience was incredible, we’re gutted this restaurant isn’t available in our city but we will definitely be back! 🫶🏻

We arrived for lunch today and the greeting we received was warm and welcoming nothing was too much trouble and although he was obviously busy we received very personable service. The food was excellent and although a small hiccup it was dealt with in a professional manner. The food was simply delicious and we will definitely be returning soon!!

Second time for me. We cannot fault the level of service and high standards at this restaurant. I’m a food technologist and the presentation, high quality and ingredients used here are simply fabulous. The pasta is cooked al dente and sauce viscosity just right. Thankyou to everyone.

It was a spur-of-the-moment decision but turned out a great lunch experience in the centre of Cardiff. Didn't book in advance, but the staff was very kind and gave us a table for two. For the main, I had Pollo Prosciutto - Oven baked prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast in a creamy mushroom and marsala wine sauce. Served on a bed of tender kale and sautéed mushrooms - and hubby had the classic lasagne. For dessert, we had Grande Momentiv. It's a shared for two menu, which consists of classic tiramisu, gooey chocolate brownie, Italian biscuits, two scoops of our raspberry sorbet, salted caramel panna cotta and Amarena cherries & mascarpone -. All of them were astonishing. Glad we came here!

Staff were welcoming and friendly but service was slow. My daughter's starter arrived and looked/tasted like it has been sat on the side for a couple of hours before being served; the bread sticks were remade and looked completely different to what we were originally served. This was then followed by a 1hr wait for our main course. The restaurant wasn't busy by any means and we ordered the most popular dishes so there was no excuse. Below average at best.
