Asha Balti House in Conwy

Tý Asha has not operated as a restaurant since 2020, due to Covid and then the staff shortages which has plagued the hospitality industry ever since. Despite this they managed to win an Indian Restaurant of the year award in 2023 (odd) They did however win best curry chef of the year in 2013 and a regional award in 2010. The takeaway is fine (not exceptional) although waits can be substantially longer than stated on a weekend.

We had an excellent takeaway with four different mains, plenty of veg dishes and superb naan breads. Great flavours in the curries and generous portions of lamb in the meat ones. Thoroughly recommend.

Ty Asha Balti House is now take away only, shame as was an excellent restaurant. The take away is still of great quality thanks to the dedicated team behind the kitchen.

One of the best takeaway curries we have had in a long time. The popadoms were crisp and fresh, the sheek kebab and tandoori chicken starters awesome. The onion bhaji’s were tasty and cooked just right. Main course of byriani and plain chicken curry with a Traditional Balti were very tasty and all with a lovely medium heat and excellently spiced (lovely ginger in the Balti as well). Good size portions and great value. No issues with any of the above being gluten free (two coeliacs in our family).

The worst experience I ever had .customer service is poor

Visited this place as it was busy every night we went past whilst staying locally. We rang to order and was advised it would be ready in an hour by a friendly member of staff. The food was ready at the exact time and travelled well keeping piping hot. Amazing chicken tikka massala and the portion sizes were large with lots of meat. Very good prices.

No rating for “Atmosphere” as currently only open for takeaway. Excellent food an very friendly / helpful staff. Well worth the 40 miles round trip!

Unfortunately due to corona its only takeaway, However the food there is absolutely phenomenal. I havent had a whole lot of indian food but this is by FAR the best. The butter chicken is amazing.

Don’t be put off by the bad reviews! I stayed in Llanrwst over the weekend and the takeaway was amazing. Tasted good, good portion sizes and not cold when we got it back to the house

Shocking Tikka massala full of Almonds???? Seriously are they for real. I asked clearly on phone was the curry red. Man said yes. I said i want mine really red. Brown, and tasted of beef broth and full of almonds!!!Said on the lid C.T.M! Shocking is the only word to describe this and pieces of tikka meat in curry so large you don't even want to eat them. Only thing i could eat was rice. I wouldn't go back and you need to find other places to eat not this one. Partners curry jaylong not even hot. He had only 4 massive pieces of meat he couldn't eat. It was like chef couldn't be bothered to cut themeat. His has no taste he didn't even think chef had any idea how a curry was suppose to be.Only reason we can possibly see is to open in middle of no where there is no cometition as if it is they couldn't suceed where there was another curry place. Last visit to hear a few years back we ate in buffet side and woman locked us in straight away an was vigilant on door incase they had visitors. No need to explain and they only took cash at the time.

Avoid if.your visiting the area The curry tasted like it had been derived from a jar, super bland and void of any exta flavours. Garlic cheese naan had about 3 flecks of cheese and a sprinkling of garlic, so dry I almost choked to death eating it. 10/10 on the onion bahjis and the rice, they are fully deserving of both stars.

Have just spent a very enjoyable few hours with Chef Raj, I was given a cookery lesson voucher for Christmas. Raj took me through the stages of creating restaurant standard food,he was very informative and demonstrated his culinary skills whilst I took copious notes. I look forward to cooking my next homemade curry, that said we will still be treating ourselves to Ty Asha's award winning food. THANK YOU SO MUCH RAJ.

Absolutely delicious takeaway - ordered lots of vegetarian dishes and loved every single one of them. Filled with all the right flavours and we were very thankful when everything else had closed in the area. There is a nice warm pub with lovely vibes around the corner to wait in with very decent price drinks - we waited there for 25 mins for food to ready Thank you!

Popped in on a cold Friday evening recently for a take away mixed stir fried starter and Sheek Kabab, for mains we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and a Chicken Madras with rice and nan bread. All the food was very tasty and flavorsome very happy with the food we choose and it hit the spot. The staff at the Takeaway are very friendly and its good to see that they have the kitchen open for you to view. We have been coming to Ty Asha for at least 28 years when the owners restaurant was just one room on the corner across the road from the New Inn. but the food has always been great. Thank you .

After reading reviews thought we'd try a takeaway. What a mistake worst curries we have ever had. We ended up throwing most of the 2 curries away and eating rice chips and nan bread.The curries looked awful and tasted awful. If we had been staying closer would have taken them back and asked for a refund.The lady who served me should go back to school because the price she charged was £3 20 more than the menu and Internet price.Sorry but people who write a good review on this takeaway have never had a descent curry. .

We were staying in a holiday lodge nearby and were delighted with the quality of the takeaway. Everything was perfectly cooked and the 3 curries that we ordered tasted delicious. You could tell that the ingredients were very fresh and of a high quality. Crisp poppadoms and pickles were a lovely start to our meal. Do try if you are in the area!

Yet another excellent meal from the Asha Balti in Llanrwst. We have a meal here every time we come to the town and cannot wait for the restaurant to open again as a complement to the take away service. Good food, friendly and courteous service, and on time - you can’t ask for much more!

Had a takeaway from here last night, ordered a variety of dishes as we’re away as a group of 4. Was absolutely delicious! Everyone agreed it was the best Indian takeaway we’ve had 😍 the lamb was so perfect and succulent while the chicken was perfectly tender. Sauces were delicious and flavoursome. Can pay card or cash which was perfect (we thought it was cash only but it’s not). Food was ready for collection in less than an hour! You can see the kitchen behind all the glass (I loved that the kitchen wasn’t open to the front door at all) and you could see the chefs cooking the meals which added to feeling good knowing you don’t have to worry about bland microwaved food (my partner can’t have microwaved food due to immune system issues) so this got top marks from us 😍

Prior to Covid I had eaten in the restaurant and had excellent meals. I haven’t been there for a few years. Walked by the restaurant on the day, no notice on display to say the business was now only a take-away service. Board above the door says it’s a restaurant! That evening we made a special journey to have an early evening dinner. Doors locked, man sat at the back of restaurant gave us a dismissive wave. Visited take-away counter next door. I asked what time the restaurant would be open. Woman told me it was shut due to Covid. I responded but other places are open for business, why couldn’t you put a notice on display in the window and we would have made other plans, we had wasted our time and petrol driving from the coast. There was no empathy, or apology, all the staff on this occasion were unsmiling and unfriendly. The woman gave me a lecture, all the locals know it’s just take-away. I responded what about tourists and visitors?? She didn’t care, then told me, it’s on their website. I Told her being out and about I don’t research every pub and restaurant I pass and might like to visit. I was travelling with a very elderly person and we had to find another venue. She was hostile to a polite notice being on display and showed her contempt for us, talking at me in a domineering manner, we walked out and will never return on principle.

Had a really superb meal. Staff are very friendly and attentive. We had to wait a little time for our main meal but it was well worth it. We normally have takeaways from here but the restaurant was great.

So amazingly accommodating for special dietary requirements, really friendly staff, can’t thank you enough! A+++++++++++++++++++

We ordered a takeaway and went to collect it, it was ready within 40 mins and all the food was lovely. There was enough in each portion, and it was very reasonably priced.

Very disappointing. Have been going to Ty Asha Balti House every year we are in Betws-y-Coed & this has to be the worst meal we have ever had from there, Sunday 8th May. Not sure if it's a change of staff, but apart from the Naan bread definitely was not their best!!

Very good food and decent portions. We had poppadoms and the mixed pickle tray. The poppadoms were lovely and crisp and we got an extra one between us. The onion bhajis were crispy and soft in the middle. My chicken pasanda was delicious and the peshwari nan was filled with delicious coconut. The website says that the restaurant is open. But it's not. The takeaway door is to the left of the building. I'll definitely be coming back.

Advertised as dine in but not true, take out only. Went to Abbasi in Betwys Y Coed instead and had a delightful meal.

Very good Naga, however the other dishes (Korma) were sweeter than I've ever had, dessert level sweet. I would give it 4.5 if I could.

We were staying nearby so had a takeaway on our last evening. We ordered 4 different curries (meat and vegetarian) and everyone enjoyed them and said it was the best they've had in a while. The naan bread and other accompaniments were delicious as well. Definitely worth a visit.

Takeaway - Had veg dishes, little bland. Naans were ok, roti's were a little small. As with most Indian restaurants - they're not run by Indians. It was ok, price is ok, friendly staff. If you need something late at night around the area then it will feed your hunger.

As this is the only India for miles we thought we give it ago, rang to place order had phone put down on me rang back and person I spoke to sounded like I was inconveniencing them, arrived at time told to have to wait ten minutes then drove back to where we was stopping to find bits of order missing and wrong rice won't be back again

After a terrible experience from a local Indian restaurant where we literally had to leave as the food was inedible we visited Ty Asha Balti house and I must say the food is exquisite!!! I haven’t ate Indian food as delicious as this ever. If only you had a restaurant on the South Cost in England!!!

We rang this place to order a take out after walking out of another Indian restaurant because of overcrowding and no covid measures at all!Although Asha restaurant wasn’t open we were able to order a meal. Only one person at a time was allowed to enter and order. Once you ordered you could sit in a separate area or wait outside.There are full plastic screens between customers and the order and kitchen area. All food was freshly cooked and you could see the chef cooking it.The kitchen area looked spotless.All staff were quiet, no shouting, and good distance between them,The food was excellent.Thank you!!

We come here occasionally as it's a bit of a trek (45mins) from home, however it's always worth it. Covid safeguards : While we are currently in a weird pandemic situation, Asha Balti have closed their restaurant and are serving takeaway food instead. They are taking this seriously and provide hand sanitiser at the pick up point, guidance around queueing and distancing. I felt completely safe there and honestly felt that the risk around coronavirus is being treated with integrity. In terms of the food : I usually ask them if they will make me a chana dhansak (not on the menu) and I've never been disappointed. Freshly cooked and stunning food. I seriously love their food. Also the staff are always friendly and happy to recommend dishes if you wish to stray from your usual favourites. As a vegetarian I often feel short-changed with the veggie options in some places (sauce with frozen veg chucked in) but never here. They know what they are doing, guys. Also, try the tarka dal. You won't regret it! Thank you Ty Asha Balti for continuing to cook superb food and to allow us to have a semblance of normality in these strange times

Staying near Llanrwst recently and ordered takeaway from here. Ordered via telephone and was allotted a time to collect in 35 minutes. Upon arrival at the premises everything was well organised around the current Covid situation. Very friendly staff too. The order was ready within a few minutes.The meals were superb, well cooked, very tasty and great portion sizes.Highly recommended.

three of us went for a meal each having something different ,all the meals were well cooked and well presented, just a little rushed in clearing the table, also a bucket on the floor to catch water from a leak, but in fairness the town had just under gone a flood.

Visited on Friday 28th Feb. The staff could not have been friendlier and more attentive. They were really considerate and concerned about dietary requirements and did a wonderful job. The food was fresh, very tasty and we really enjoyed it. Good price too. Rounded off a lovely week’s stay in the area. Recommended!

Been here many times. Always great food and good service. Reataurant is keen ot check that you don't have allergies, quite righ too, for sake of safety, I highly recommend a visit here.

Quite possibly the best Indian meal we have had in a very long time. All cooked freshly while we waited, which can be viewed whilst waiting. All meals were enjoyed, the naan breads were beautiful. There wasn’t much left over by the time we had finished. Just wish we didn’t live so far away from this restaurant.

Lovely meal with all we asked for served promptly. Quality of food excellent. Staff extremely polite and accomodating. Only slight problem was that food was never quite piping hot. Possibly the use of plate warming might be helpful.

We visited here whilst on a weekend away. Food was excellent especially the Naan bread. Staff were friendly however service was quite slow. Wasn't busy when we arrived but it did start to get busier the longer we stayed. Would have been a five with quicker service but will definitely return when visiting the area again.

We eat India food at least three times a week and I can say with hand on heart it was the best Indian we have ever had. Superb.

Food taste was really bad also the service was not upto the mark! WORST WAITER AND MANAGER EVER!
