I met up with a very lovely friend for lunch at Ascough’s yesterday. We had such a good time. Staff are friendly and helpful. The food is great, as always. Every one of our three courses from the October menu was delicious. I loved my scallops starter and venison main course. My friend was equally impressed with her goats curd and compressed watermelon starter and tempura cauliflower main course. We both chose the coconut rice pudding - a truly delicious dish. This is one of my favourite restaurants. I’ve never been disappointed here - quite a feat in itself!

A dog walker by the marina recommended I have lunch at Ascoughs if I could get a table and I am very grateful to her. I turned up and luckily was fitted in by a very friendly waitress who brought me a Bora Bora mocktail which I can thoroughly recommend The two or three course offer for lunch is very good value for the quality of the food. I really enjoyed seared mackerel with potatoes, exquisite broad beans and grapefruit and then the chilled coconut rice pudding. The staff were lovely and the whole ambience and atmosphere was calm and friendly, helped by the tranquil decor and lack of loud piped music. Overall lunch at Ascoughs was a wonderful experience. Thank you to the imaginative and inspired chefs and the efficient waiting staff.

The Attic Restaurant

21/08/2018: Integral to the social side of a golf club, this airy restaurant opens out on to a decent sized balcony...which itself looks out on to the golf course. Weather wise, we were able to sit out and enjoy the atmosphere. The menu did not disappoint. Hearty food with a creative and modern twist, the portions were sizeable, the ingredients - ‘quality’, taste - full of flavour and presentation - worthy of a Michelin star ! The pea soup was stand out. The braised beef melted in the mouth. The lemon meringue pie - tangy and lots of contrasting flavours. And the more than ample cheese board definitely hit the mark. Really attentive service topped off the proceedings. A lovely and memorable 80th birthday celebration.
13/12/2018: My wife and I like to enjoy a nice meal before all the Christmas entertaining and we were not disappointed. Suffice to say we enjoyed a thoroughly delightful Saturday evening with great food from the mouth watering seasonal menu, attentive service and relaxed surroundings. Whilst we live some miles away, we will come back.

Rio Bravo

06/10/2018: A cheeky night out without the kids. Had a 50th birthday to go to but thought we would eat out first. I love it here but my husband has never been before. He is hard to please but he loved it too. We will be back with the kids. Loads of lovely tasty food. Couldn't eat it all so my husband finished for me
