For those that are looking for some nice coffee as well as nice customer service, then I would highly recommend artisan (my new fave place) amazing coffee, customer service and the atmosphere!!

Discovering this hidden gem of a coffee shop was a game-changer for me. From the moment I stepped in, I knew this was the place I would keep coming back to. The staff here is exceptional - friendly and attentive. The coffee is fantastic, and their array of cookies and cakes, including my favorite vegan & vegetarian panini, is a delightful touch. They also offer decaf coffee and plant milk options. I can't recommend it enough - a true local treasure!

Cute little coffeeshop just off Leith Walk. Its quite nice to sit out during summers and enjoy a cup of coffee.

I didn’t have any food yet but I definitely plan to next time am there, such a lovely and cozy cafe to have a sit and catchup with a friend, coffee is great as much as the service. Definitely would recommend

What a dreadful place. No hello from any of the staff and they were all unfriendly and not interested in customer service. Took half an hour to serve the cheese toatie I had ordered and was only put on to whatever when I queried why 1 cheese toastie could take so long to prepare. When it did arrive it wasn’t cooked through so lumps of cheese sitting on half toasted. Having run a Michelin star restaurant I am appalled that a coffee shop employs staff who stand around talking to each other and are disinterested in customers. It wasn’t even busy so no excuse. Never will I return. Food that I had was dreadful.

I wasn’t expecting anything this good. The coffee is delicious and the service is wonderful, but it’s the food that stands out here. Their boreks are to die for (I got the potato borek), and I would absolutely drink the hummus and olive oil they serve with it. Highly recommend this place whether you’re a local or on holiday!

Been coming here for awhile ,enjoy the coffee (unsure why haven't done a review before )very friendly service,had something to eat today ,great for a light lunch ,had the vegetarian; mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes,mayo,pesto, rocket sarny ...was greeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaat(thinking of a advert on TV :))

Lively neibourhood cafe. Great healthy breakfast (salad, salmon on toast, eggs, humus), tasty coffee, reasonable prices, friendly and fast staff, dog friendly. What else do you need to start your perfect day?

Very nice cafe at the corner of Balfour Street and Leith Walk. Good list of food options, we tried the Ham and Cheese toast and Eggs on toast, both very delicious at a reasonable price. The waiting staff were very nice, helpful and attentive. Four stars because they didn't have menus to take for your table and the tables are a bit too closely together for my liking.

Tea and service were good but the pastries were awful and stale. They tasted like they were day olds from a grocery store. I would avoid these if possible. Lots of great dog watching outside though.

Staff were nice and the outdoor seating is pleasant. The flat white tasted burnt. Zero coffee flavour and quite unpleasant. More like a Starbucks coffee than an artisan coffee

The food was great, the drinks were great, the service was great! Only the toilet was a bit broken 😅

Disgraceful. They charge plenty to sit amongst others dirty dishes and uncleaned surfaces. The staff are dour and do as little as they can get away with and the card machine has the cheek to ask for a tip at the start. It's not even particularly busy.

They had an array of sandwiches on offer as well as quite a large selection of tasty treats! I would say that perhaps due to the beautiful weather, popularity & my timing (hitting the lunch rush) I would recommend that this cafe is better suited for those wanting to have a good ol' chit chat with mates as opposed to quietly reading/working. If that's what you are after this place is truly perfect!!!

Wanted a cafe where we could get a bit of lunch, some good coffee and something sweet. The ham and cheese toastie was very nice- good bread, nice portion, hummus and some salad, Choc chip shortbread and coffee was enjoyed too. Nice staff. Would go again.

Coffee and cake break at Artisan Coffee, Leith Walk because we'd heard about this corner café. Plenty of seating outside on a wide pavement area bathed in sunlight. Inside seating a bit cramped, small tables squashed together. The counter is at the front showing a wide variety of inviting looking cakes, pastries and filled rolls. We chose our standard bearer Flat Whites which were as good as anywhere else in the area. Nice layer of dark creamy froth, espresso flavour coming through. Hit the right notes. We shared a small cake which was a mixture of some dried fruit and oats. After the first taste, I left my share. There is a lot of exciting cake shops along this stretch of Leith Walk so competition is high. Would we go again? For the coffee; an instant yes. We may try another cake or just sit on the pavement doing a bit of people watching.

Came here for a coffee initially however we were hungry so thought we would look at the menu. We were pleased with the range of food options available so decided to eat as well. We were both very happy with our food, the portions were generous, it was reasonably priced and of course the food was delicious. We really enjoyed sitting outside watching the world go by. It was a nice atmosphere to sit in what is quite a European setting. I’d certainly come back here again 5*

Good coffee, good panini, good cake. Anywhere that gives you a scoop of hummus with your sarnie is a winner everytime.

Artisan Coffee is a small cafe where quality is the focus! The coffee done professionaly by a barista. SUPERB. and the breakfast: simple but done with love! We ha an avocadotoast and some salmone. Great quality. Fresh, delicous, salad on the side, tasty dressing with humus and a slice of lemon!. Best in town!!! I recomand this place highly! Thanks for the nice service.

Definitely one of my favorite cafes in Leith. Lovely coffee and great sandwiches 🥪 they also do wine and beer so good for a light drink as well. Lovely staff, would recommend!

Staying locally, in the same place for the third time. Artisan Coffee shop doesn't look anything special, so I'd always walked past. Someone suggested I try it, so I did - some of the best coffee I have tasted. Agree also with the comment about the shortbread! But it's the coffee I'll go back for when I'm next visiting family in Edinburgh, really superb. Great staff too. Thanks!

Welcoming place to be in on a rainy morning. There are seats outside with shelter from the trees when not so wet. Good coffee excellent gateau and an hour blethering in comfort with room for all. Nice to be inside today. Plenty of space. Great food and friendly staff. Tram works are off for Xmas so nice and quiet too!

Like this café a lot. The staffs here patiently recommended me the good meals and they are actually delicious. There are no many seats but if you get one, I think that you can have good time here.

One of my favorite coffee spots in Edinburgh! Cosy sitting outside and inside. Friendly staff and good coffee. Large selection of sweets, with a lot of them being from a nearby Italian pastry shop. Also with a handful of brunch options!

Bit of a late review. I am lactose intolerant I asked for an oat milk latte as a result. I was given a coconut milk latte instead by the lady serving me but didn’t realise until I had left as I hadn’t taken a sip. I came back a day or two later and explained this just so that the manager could know and was told “so what” by the manager. Doesn’t seem like much except for the fact that if I had been with my friend like the time before who is allergic to coconut he could have died. Respect for allergens shouldn’t be underrated. Very disappointing.

Poor coffee. Oat Milk was frothed like a cappuccino for a FW&Latte - that my wife said tasted like cigarette smoke left in the air by a stranger, I have to agree. Food was a redeeming factor

Went to this coffee shop twice; outstanding product, service and friendly friendly staff. Outdoor seating is great, they even have blankets for the cooler windy days. I highly recommend this business.

Ironically, sitting here at a pavement café in the sunshine, eating delicious food has Scotland never felt more wonderfully European, or continental! Speed the day we become European once more and our sense of belonging to a wider community is restored... In the meantime Artisan certainly fits the bill, making our Leith community feel like a continental home!

My daily routine consists of visiting Artisan and is my absolute favourite cafe in Leith. Great food, coffee and the friendliest staff.

It is a great location but suffers because of it as it tends to get very busy and you can have a good 15 - 20 minute wait to get your order once you have placed it.

Great staff! Amazing Coffee & delicious food!! They have a great seating area outside aswell as indoors which is all spaced out for social distancing. Would definitely recommend.

Especially since cafes have to suffer right now due to capacity constraints, surely they can't afford to treat customers as if they're absolute deviants.

Loves it the sandwiches and the cakes with a Greek touch are extremely good and I feel will be my new local in the week end

coffee could be better, as a coffee shop they should know that you must clean/wipe the portafilter basket between each coffee and to run water through the machine between each coffee to get rid of previous coffee residue. as they don't do this, the coffee tates super bitter as it's just burning previous coffee from the basket. customer service could also be better, very mediocre, no back and forth rapport. Not sure if cups are recyclable/decomposable? nothing to say so on the cups they use. better options in the area if you want decent coffee and nice customer service :)

Great location. Lovely outdoor space. Good selection of options. The café's clerk could be more communicative/friendly though, she seemed a bit grumpy.

Had a espresso and a Viennese. The Viennese was nice, light and crumbly and a generous size for price. The espresso was disappointingly poor, overly bitter with a faint taste of tobacco that wasn't pleasant to drink. Unfortunate, but may be just unlucky.
