Visited here on Saturday with the other half. Definitely the best pub I’ve been to by far! Food and drinks were amazing and had such a lovely atmosphere!! I also want to take the time to mention the exceptional service we recommend from Anna, she made us feel welcome and it was clear she went above and beyond to ensure everyone was happy and well looked after.We will definitely be back!

Came in here for a drink with my friends and a little bit of food amazing service from the staff as u can see there busy in and outside got A* service bringing drinks to my table outside asking if every think ok and asking if want more didn't have to left a finger. Food was lovely and again great staff great service and nice beer and food and as of the TV outside a great touch to the beer garden A* will defo be coming back.

I visited the Argosy for some lunch with my elderly dad he has trouble getting around the staff was very helpful with accommodating for this. The food was phenomenal we only had a sub from the lunch menu but the portion size was very generous. Would definitely return and would highly recommend to all we know. Staff were very polite and welcoming.

I've been really worries about going since the pandemic. I had nothong to worry about, the Argosy has been set up fantastically and I felt safe and comfortable. The food was as good as I remembered and the beer was cold.The staff were excellent as always. I am glad to be back!

Wow!!!! I came in at the weekend for a meal and drink and the service was second to none. Everyone of the staff were attentive to my needs (yes I’m picky ). Very well ran pub and restaurant. Thank you. I will be definitely returning and letting all my friends know what a great place this is.

Visited today for a quick drink ended up eating too as the food smelt amazing and it tasted it too, all staff were friendly and I wasn't waiting long for food either, will definitely be back again with my family. Keep up the great work

We supported 5 adults with learning disabilities to go out for a birthday celebration at The Argosy. The welcome and service we received was spot on. All needs where met with warmth and willingness. The fact that everyone had to pay cash and pay separately was not an issue for our lovely server Becky. She did an absolutely fantastic job which enabled everyone to have a most enjoyable time. We were all treated with dignity, genuine kindness, patience and respect. Not special treatment, just what she was serving up to all her customers. Thank you very much Becky, keep up the wonderful service.

We visited this place weekly up to the first lockdown and returned tonight for the first time in over a year. As a group of 6 including grandparents and our 14 year old we were warmly welcomed by familiar faces and were pleased to be back! It seemed a bit complicated signing in but the staff were really patient and helpful. The menu had slightly changed but there was still something for everyone and we all enjoyed our food and drinks. Becca was still there and was her usual friendly, efficient self who looked after us very well. It was good to be back! Thank you.

We booked a table here for 12 o clock..we was a little early so went in and ordered drinks through the app. These arrived really quickly. Food was served hot and was really good! Shelly was amazing through out our whole dining experience! Great staff, nice atmosphere! Will defo be going again!

its quite a local put to me so we usally go every so often. the food is always up to standard, and the staff are usally lovely but if the staff have a bit of an attuide then thats what lets it down. im a bit annoyed a this because we were in there the other day and my son, who is 2, started walking off so i sent my sister, who is 12, to go and get it and when she came back with him she said that one of the staff members had told her that she needs to go straight back to her table. Now i do get this but she hdnt even got my son yet so she still needed to go and grab him, but how can you make a 2 year old sit still for about a good 2 hours? I understand that he shouldnt have walked off but the staff member could have just saifd "oh sorry, youre not really ment to be walking around" and that would have been fine. apart from that little shake its was lovely.

We usually come here all the time today is our first visit back since last year.... nothing has changed the staff are still brilliant im usure of a few names but saw shelly so that was nice!!! She is still going above and beyond for the customers it was a really nice evening celebrating our 20 year anniversary we wouldnt have gone anywhere else!!!

Booked here for the first time because we saw they had a Halloween quiz on and decided to have tea there as well. The pub was empty, no music, no atmosphere, poorly decorated and dirty. The website said fancy dress encouraged and for the quiz to start at 7.30, there was 1 table dressed in full costume, 7.30 came and went with no quiz!! Glad we didn't dress up!! Ordered our food by the app, we only ordered drinks and starters as we were hungry. They took 25 minutes to come and when they did, they weren't worth the wait! First time we've ever got up and left after just having a starter, will not be returning.

Me and my partner came here on a recommendation, and it is wonderful, food is brilliant, drinks are great, and puddings are to die for. As I am type 1 diabetic and carb count, them having all the relative information for me is amazing as not many places do. This means that I will definitely be making a few more visits. The atmosphere is really family oriented but also works as a night out, staff are helpful and attentive. With Covid they are cleaning all tables, guests that enter are asked to leave details and if they can order from the app (which is so easy to use) or they can start a tab and have table service. All staff are making sure standards are kept and I can’t praise this enough. Looking forward to my next visit.

Food was good, I liked the size of the meals and a vast selection of meat dishes. Pub was very outdated and the carpet was something out of a granny’s flat. Would not recommend

We booked in at the argosy on Wednesday 30th September 2020, just want to say a MASSIVE THANKYOU to SHELLY AND DANIEL THE MANAGER... we have never been made to feel so welcome and food was amazing. What a great evening spent in a lovely pub with a family feel,the food was great and we all enjoyed dessert as well especially the kids,we will definitely be returning soonAnd I also want to thank Shelly the shift supervisor who looked after us,she made us feel all so welcome I would highly raccomend this family run pub to any one who loves eating out

The chicken fajitas were quite bad; the sizzler plate was only warm to the touch, and the veg hadn’t been cooked, it was just raw. However, it was a busy night so it could have been put down to that. The curry was quite nice and flavoursome. Shelly was very helpful and was sorry about our unfortunate experience, she also offered us free puddings so it was redeemed. All in all, a nice place to drink; beer prices are very good and the team do a good job during the current COVID guidelines. Again a big thank you to Shelly for taking care of us, a truly remarkable member of the team.

Visited The Argosy the evening of 29/09, was immediately bombarded with information about a member of staff who is currently unwell with Covid. I was informed we need to start a tab with the bar which I was not entirely comfortable with, but was not informed of any other methods of payment. We were seated next to a family, so social distancing was not maintained. The table where we were sat was slightly dirty, as were the surroundings. The staff seemed very blazè about Covid and the restrictions given that they did not exercise these throughout our time here. I will not be returning on the above basis.

We visited here on a Sunday. Despite it being quiet we were served by Shelley who made us feel really welcome. Our food was delicious and Shelley made sure we had everything we needed. It was great value for money and we will be back!

The food was absolutely delicous and the desert was to die for! Not only was the great the service was even better, Shelley was so polite and made mine and my friends time there amazing! She was so funny!

On arrival it was a nice day and observed a bunch of 4 lads sitting on the garden bench Not observing safe distance one of them shook the other ones hand and left the table and went inside the building. He didnt use the hand sanitizer provided .We were seated on the table and first impression was that there seemed to be a lot of house dust on the ledge next to me ...looks like 3 months worth ..meal was terrible dry steak . burnt chips mixed platter it was and it was horrible not on a skillet meant all your food was luke warm on arrival.. will not go to the argosy ever again it was discusting.

I went for a meal with my family .the food was amazing.it was our 1st visit.all of the 6 meals were fantastic.the service was excellent.2 of the deserts were sold out but Becca one of the staff went above and beyond to service me with a special desert .would recommend this place has a high quality restaurant.thank you for a wonderful evening .we will be back

My husband and I have been visiting The Argosy for many years and have always considered it good food and great value for money .The staff last week were very pleasant as per usual but the food was dry and bland. The chips were brown and very few and looked like they had been cooked earlier, no sizzling skillet for the steak ,which is usually sizzling with a bed of onions , just came on a plate, the waitress told me they’re not using the hot skillets due to hygiene reasons and the specific cleaning product, ??The steak was very dry and a little chewy .The black pepper sauce was watery and tasteless, the packet mix tastes better . We left very disappointed and won’t be returning anytime soon. We hope things improve!

This place is amazing for the money you spend, its very good value. I take the Mrs here often and we have usually the same meal but do like to try something new here and there, for me and the Mrs i usually spend about £25 which is amazing compared to restaurants like TGI Fridays, when we went there i spend about £40 and the food wasn't even that nice. The staff are very friendly and their chicken burgers are amazing. Only thing that could be improved are the toilets, they are not very clean.Apart from that its honestly a great pub/restaurant .

Been eating every week for 2 years now and have to say today we had the best gaming and chips so far and it came out within 10 min. Great Job to today's kitchen staff.

Came for the first time on 22 February for lunch. Service was quick and food was hot. We ordered two meals that came on skillets and they actually sizzled! First time we have had this happen in a long time as others places have said they can't get the hot plates to sizzle. The food was hot from start to finish. We will definitely come back soon

We came here on Sunday 1st feb hoping it wasn’t going to be too busy,we got greeted by rebecca who was very friendly and offered us a table ,both me and my partner had the mixed grill cooked perfectly ,food was red hot and came really quickly ,our too young girls had chicken nuggets chips and beans ,and a build your own ice cream,all the food was great. Will be visiting again soon

Called in with my wife and mother for a meal on Saturday lunchtime. The pub didn’t seem overly busy so was good for my 90 year old mum. Got a drink and ordered food no problem. There was a large party at the back of the pub and food seemed to constantly keep coming out for them. We waited and waited, and our food came after just under an hour. The staff were good and working hard and the food was decent. My only gripe was that I wasn’t informed about the wait when I ordered. My mother has Alzheimer’s, was getting stressed and was constantly asking if they had forgot about us. A short wait, maybe 20 minutes or so is acceptable but anything longer than that, I don’t think it is unreasonable to let the customer know.

So me and my partner went here today 28/12/19 we normally go the royal Oak in Stafford but it's a fair distance to travel so we went this one as it was closer but same menu and chain pub food looked as if it got slapped on the plate partner had double tandory chicken burger it was pink in the middle and the minted sour cream looked like curdled milk I had the all American platter all tasted charred curley fries was sloppy wings was tough there was a Xmas party near us there food looked and smelt great felt our food was rushed and careless won't be returning

There were 10 of us that attended this meal 26th December 2019 ,our table was ready when we arrived the food was excellent worth the price . Becky served us and couldn’t do enough for us she is such a lovely person very attentive and polite nothing was too much trouble. Credit where credit is due she was amazing. We had no complaints what so ever and will certainly be back again .Thank you for a very enjoyable meal.

Sat 21Dec we had Christmas menu for 13 of us was super value and good food my only criticism was our 3 steaks not cooked as ordered but I understand on a busy Christmas period it’s not possible to get everything perfect and as I have had a steak from you before which was good perfectly I don’t want you to take it to personally over all excellent value you will see us again merry Christmas to you all

Came in with the family as a large group of 30 for a Christmas meal. We were quickly seated and our starters came out as soon as everyone was ready. Our waitress (Shelly) was incredibly polite and gave us amazing service for a party so big. The food was beautiful and for the price there really was nothing to moan about. We will definitely be returning.

Went for a meal with my sisters and other halves to say goodbye to one of my sisters who was leaving to work and live in the South of the Country. We are aged between 50 and 70. It is a lively pub/restaurant and there were 3 or 4 groups of 8 or more so though it was quite noisy it had a good atmosphere. Think everyone was warming up for Christmas! Didn’t have to wait too long at the bar, though it was busy staff kept it moving quite quickly. The highlight for me was my steak! I’m always reluctant to order it anywhere as I like it tender. I ordered surf and turf and kept my fingers crossed that the steak was ok. I needn’t have worried, it was superb! Two of my other party ordered steak and there’s was equally as nice. We asked them to thank the Chef for that alone. Staff were helpful and friendly and the food was all piping hot! Chips cooked to perfection. We all said we wouid definitely go again.

Came here on Saturday evening. Food was spot on and hot!

We visited for breakfast on a Sunday. The food was good but two disappointing areas. The first is the sullen attitude of the marketplace who served us. Second was the dirty doors and floors in the ladies toilets - I commented on this in an earlier review and the management said they would address the issues.

The place has just had a new menu 😋. I enjoyed the lemon peri peri chicken skewers and daughter had childrens menu over 5s chicken nuggets, chips and beans. They were very tasty and service was in good time too.

The food here was really decent. The staff were really friendly. Glad to have found this place. Will be back when again in the area!

We went there for a Saturday dinner. We've order a double burgers. Every burger include drink and chips. For this price is really worth to eat there. This place is really lovely and we spend there a really nice time. Highly recommended 😀

Had a get together with some friends and the staff could not be anymore helpful. Becki the Assisitant manager went above and beyond and made myself and my other Guests were catered for. Will Defo be back again.

I visited the restaurant on the 11th of October for a family meal and I was very impressed with how fast Becky got the food out and was serving by herself very impressed food was nice but can we recommend that the onions are put separate Instead of under the chicken as some were overcooked

We came here for a family meal for 10 people and everyone thought it was fantastic food and fantastic service. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

20 Hospital volunteers had a very tasty two course meal after work in pleasant surroundings. A member of staff took all our orders at the table and then, within fifteen minutes, she and a colleague brought all 20 orders to the table, piping hot, within the space of a few minutes.

This place has a polar EV charge point so we popped in mid morning for a quick half hour charge before having a look at the lunch menu. During the charge the staff came out and just stood staring at me and my car. I was glad to get out of there.

We booked a family breakfast for Sunday 29th September, our booking for 19 was happily accommodated and our table was ready when we arrived. The breakfasts were brilliant plenty of choice that accommodated for all in our party as we had young children and adults included, everyone was more than happy and the food was lovely. If you choose a large breakfast make sure you have a large appetite as it more than lives up to its name. Fast, reliable and friendly service we were all very happy with our visit and would certainly go again....thank you

Just in the Argosy bought the grandson out for tea. Great food choice, friendly staff thanks to Andy who looked after us with drinks and food.. grandson loved the children's burger chips and beans and thought the build a sundae was amazing. Great idea. Also loved he could have glass of cold milk as a drinks choice. Our fish and chips 2 for £9 was great value and cooked perfectly by H.. would deffinatley recommend the Argosy for great food drinks and great service.

have been to a number of places in the area for breakfast, but the Argosy wins every time. always well cooked, hot, presented well, and excellent value for money. Always consistant, so why go anywhere else? see you next time we have breakfast !!

We eat here weekly with kids and grandparents. There is a really nice, friendly atmosphere. Bar staff and waiting staff consistently make you feel welcome and well looked after. Becca in particular is attentive and goes out of her way to provide an excellent level of service. The food is well presented, tasty and good value. We are always very happy to return!!

We were away for the weekend and wanted something to eat so looked online and found this place, the menu was great so we booked. The staff were good and the food was excellent, really good value for money. The only downside is the football was on so it was quite rowdy and a lot of swearing and shouting.

My wife and I visited The Argosy today for Lunch. We chose from the Golden Years menu and were very satisfied with all aspects of our visit. We were warmly welcomed, the food was excellent, the service efficient and courteous and it was very good value for money. We look forward to returning next time we are visiting family in Derby.

I visit this wonderfully warm establishment every weekday and occasionally on the weekend. The staff and clientele are always very pleasant, including the resident cat Muffin. I would recommend the breakfast, excellent value for money and you can swap items around to your preference, good flat mushrooms. There’s always plenty of space to park and I see that they are supporting the environment by installing an electric car charging point. Well done to Dan and the team, keep up the good work!

The Argosy is always very welcoming with great staff who always go out of the way to make sure you are happy and catered for. The entertainment at weekends are great, with definitely Djs/Acts! The new food menu is a top hit, making it an all round great place. Definitely recommend.

went to Argosy Sat eve. for a family reunion. Ordered a variety of meals from mixed grill to fish. The place was busy, but the meals came out within a respectable time. All the meals were lovely, the steaks were cooked as requested, (rare, medium rare), presentation was good, hot food, warm plates, very tasty. We were checked back to make sure we were all ok. Altogether, a lovely experience, at minimal cost. Well done to the kitchen Chefs !

Visited the argosy today and was blown away by how busy it was. But never less we was seated quite quickly and was given time to review the menu. And when went to order at the bar we was served promptly and was given a warm welcome by the barman with a smile and a quite pleasant conversation with him even though he was busy he had time for us. And when our meals came out they were hot and what we ordered. All in all a great experience. Will definitely be returning again

We are regulars here and we should matter we both had meals this evening my partner had mixed grill with chicken missing I had double mixed grill with onion rings missing that is 2 meals not complete surely these meals should be checked as they come out the kitchen not good very disappointed

I visited on the 29th July I had a chilli con carnie and my husband had what was suppose to be like a hunters chicken .... the food was awful the chilli had no taste at all looked like it had been watered down it was honestly the worst meal I’ve tasted anywhere I could not eat it my husband didn't eat his either the chicken which looked like a burnt burger but was chicken in breadcrumbs was black and very hard to bite into I’ve only every been there once before as it’s not in my area and we only had a drink then I was very disappointed in our visit there when we left we went to McDonald’s on the way home I would avoid eating there
