Aqua Brasserie in Croydon

After visiting back in February, I booked out the private room for a special birthday and the experience was nothing short of amazing. The booking was for 25 people. I was able to decorate the space beforehand and drop off the cake the day before. We pre-ordered all of the food from a party menu which was £32pp for 3-courses. The duck salad starter was delicious! There were some lovely choices of dishes and the restaurant was organised when bringing out the food. The food was good and the atmosphere was great. One of the waitresses, Alessia was so great. She was very sweet and professional but also fun and was singing along with us as we partied as well as doing her job, She made our evening! All round, a fab night loved by all who attended. The restaurant couldn’t do enough for us all. Would definitely recommend - very well run business with great food, great atmosphere. Thank-you Aqua for a very fabulous evening!

This is our most frequented restaurant! The food is consistently good and the service is excellent. The staff are friendly. The decor is great and the whole premise is clean.

Fantastic menu and service - came away very full and exploding with flavours! We ordered (2 adults, 1 child): spaghetti with prawns, goats cheese with braised aubergine, garlic bread (the latter from kids menu), then Jacob’s ladder, Spaghetti with crab and spaghetti Bol (latter from kids menu) All very delicious and the service was excellent. If we find ourselves in Croydon again, will definitely be booking ourselves in again 👍🏻

Just been for lunch with my family, all 3 of us had the special Sunday menu! The restaurant was not very busy however started to fill up as we left. Food came quickly and was delicious, staff looked after us well. Would recommend to friends and would return

Great service from the get go. Staff friendly and welcoming. Restaurant looks awesome and a nice size for all group sizes. A great wine list and awesome menu. Fish meat veggie and lots more. I was impressed with my evening. A nice restaurant in south croydon. Good parking and Trainsport links into main croydon.

We booked a table for Valentines, they had the Valentines Special Menu which was the only option, their was plenty on the menu, the food was great, service was great and as always a great atmosphere

I visited Aqua with a group of friends for a birthday. Everything was amazing from the food, the drinks, the atmosphere and the brilliant, attentive staff. I chose 3 courses from their set menu (mon-thurs) and was very impressed. The manager, Kush couldn’t do enough for us and was very accommodating. The pork belly was really nice. I will definitely be returning. Highly recommend. Thank-you!

Really good evening, good food and service lovely cocktails, not cheap but around normal for the area, 2 areas to improve, buy a better quality prosecco rose for 31pd a bottle (vinegary), and the baileys creme brulee was more like coffee, not baileys taste, but otherwise lovely and would definitely return.

9 of us arrived last minute and were accommodated really well. Excellent food and service. Been here quite a few times over the years and never been disappointed

I have been going to Aqua Croydon for YEARSSSS. Today was just a casual evening with my Partner and it was a toss up between Nandos or Aqua. Aqua won being local (literally walking distance from home) and I have never regret a decision like I have today. Starters took a while, but ok fair enough. I ordered tiropitakia (feta and spinach pastry) it was freezing cold as if it had been served out the freezer. Replacement was given. Came out PIPING hot. It took a further 45mins for the mains to arrive considering the restaurant had about 5 people, with no communication as to why it was taking so long or apology for the wait -food was tasteless. Strawberry Daiquiri - tasted off, again tasteless. Overall, really disappointed. Sad to say.

The staff were welcoming and attentive but the food was bad. I love calamari for starters, when it arrived it was just eight tiny tasteless rings. My brother ordered the prawns and got 3 sorry looking small prawns for £11!!! The mains were no better. We had a meat platter and a fish platter. Not tasty or fresh! Our waiter was lovely and kept on asking if the food was ok. We didn’t have the heart to say it wasn’t. We just won’t be going back there again!

I suggested Aqua to my two friends when we met up and it didn’t let me down! The Manager and Karolina were brilliant hosts and the food was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were lovely and we were not rushed to finish. Would thoroughly recommend!

I took my husband there for his birthday and we have an incredibly pleasant time. The food was exceptional, we were still talking about the salmon this morning over breakfast. My husband preferred one of his cold starters warm and the staff were very helpful to make this change. The prices are very good and the waiting staff were very friendly and welcoming. Returning from lockdown they have organised the restaurant for social spacing ensure all the precautions are in place. Received a warm welcome on arrival and promptly seated. The full menu was available as before, no cut backs, on disposable paper. The service was bright, attentive and charming. The food as before was excellent. Please to be back.

We have been eating at Aqua for years and after four months of going nowhere looking forward to our first meal out! We chose Aqua so if you need anything else as a recommendation that's about as good as it gets!

We went for a birthday celebration: we two old codgers, and a daughter and her two youngsters who live in Brighton. Had the restaurant been in the Lanes it would have been packed. As it was in South Croydon, the place was nearly empty: better for us.The very welcoming and sociable waiter was brilliant - just the right amount of attention and leaving us alone. The food was great: two steaks, a crayfish, a pork belly, some liver and a spaghetti bolognese were all delicious.We will be back.

Booked a table for my mother’s 60th birthday party - 16 of us. lush the manager was excellent! He allowed me to drop off decorations during the afternoon and set up the table for me, service was fantastic. Food was great, there were no mistakes with the bill or food. Lush and his staff made the evening very special! Thank you Aqua team will defiantly be returning.

A group of 11 of us went to Aqua for the Christmas set menu last weekend, only for every member of the group to become very unwell, some within an hour of leaving the restaurant. The following day we contacted them only to be told that we must have all already been ill beforehand and were not even given an apology! I am 5 months pregnant and spent the following day in complete agony I had to be sent home from work. I’m disgusted by the shocking customer service we received when we brought this to their attention, and will be certain to tell everyone to never go to this restaurant again.

Came here on a Saturday night just pop in and they had a table free the service was very good and had a good menu , we had the cod and calf livers which were both super and a nice bottle of wine a nice place waitress very friendly will come back

Went for daughter's birthday with family and friends. Service was efficient and quick. Food was delicious. Staff very helpful with the cake - cutting and providing takeaway containers for guests wanting to take their cake with them. Had a very enjoyable evening and wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant for family gatherings.

Had dinner at this modern looking restaurant on Saturday night with my wife. The food was really good, especially the Jacobs Ladder......The only thing that let this restaurant down was the service. Once we were seated no one came over to ask if we wanted drinks! I had to call someone over to order food! Twice I had to call someone over to order drinks.

Great restaurant. Friendly as soon as we walked in. The starter I had which was baked aubergine and goats cheese was one of the best I've ever had, so delicious. I had Jacobs ladder for main and the beef was incredible, simply falling off the bone. I would definitely go back there again.

I've been there a couple of weeks ago with my colleagues, for dinner after work. The food was very nice and fresh and most of the dishes remind me of Greece. The waitresses were very nice especially Alessia, the Italian waitress. I definitely recommend it.

We’ve been coming here for years. Probably only once or twice a year, but always a friendly welcome from Betim and Ferdi. Service is always friendly and welcoming and food is perfectly cooked with generous portions. The menu is varied and always a great selection to suit most palates. Good veggie options.

Went here as a party of 6 - booked on line very easily. Waiting staff very friendly and food served in good time. The Greek mini meze was enjoyed by those that had it and my whitebait was tasty (although slightly overcooked). The kleftiko was very good and my calves liver was cooked to perfection. We all enjoyed the ambience in a good evening.

Went here for my friends birthday. Food was good but service was terrible, very slow. At this point we excused it as it was busy, however we were waiting for 25 minuets to pay as there was only one card machine which is ridiculous. We had a booking at a club so we needed to go as quickly as possible. Finally when we got the card machine as we weren't happy with the service so we didn’t want to pay service charge where we then had to wait for the manger to “ok” it which meant we had to wait further for the card machine to reach us as another table was waiting for it. When paying an error occurred with my card and my friend. It said it was unauthorised so she paid a further 2 times. It was then my turn to pay and it said card error. The manager then proceeded to say that I don’t have enough money in a very rude and degrading manner i then went on my online banking to show him proof that the transaction went through and he was trying to say that it will not go through and that it is un authorised. The way in which he done this was very rude and extremely unprofessional as a manager. However now looking and my bank statement the payment did in fact go through and my friend was charged 3 times for her meal. This was really off putting and meant that none of us would like to return here. The waiters were lovely and very happy but the manger is very rude and unprofessional. Will not be returning here again!!!!

Went for a meal with my Mum as an early Birthday present to her. Superb steak, cooked to perfection. Service was amazing, attentive but not too in your face. They had a large party in paying for their meal so while we waited for the card machine to be free were treated to free shots of Tia Maria and Baileys. Great atmosphere with great staff and food. Would definitely go again and happily recommend to others.

Went with a group of friends we had booked and were given a large round table which was perfect for our needs. The restaurant was busy but felt lively rather than crowded or load we could hold conversations over the table with no problem. We all eat from the set menu with a variety of dishes all were perfect. Thehouse wine was god and the service was excellent, friendly attentive staff.

I had my 18th birthday meal there great night all round staff where incredibly friendly and helpful food was lovely and the atmosphere was just great defiantly would recommend and will be returning soon

Fifteen friends and I enjoyed a fantastic birthday dinner. That’s a lot of people to cater for in one go but everything was spot on. Great choice of food and wine at such reasonable prices. Like the food, the service was sooo good. Friendly but absolutely professional. And the three birthday girls were given their own cake and candle AND a bottle of Prosecco. How nice was that! Thanks, everyone at Aqua, we had a great time. See you again!

Unpretentious interior, this restaurant does what it says on the tin, serving healthy portions of Mediterranean food. Very good service.

What a fabulous place. 5* all round. Service, drinks, food and ambience. A definite must if you are along the strip!

It was our first time at this restaurant the food and portions were good. Our meal was going well we had two courses and a bottle of wine. We didn't have dessert but an Irish coffee was ordered and after a few minutes the waiter made a comment do you want anything else people are waiting and then produced the bill and card machine Surely it is not unreasonable to be given time to digest our food, finish the coffee and wine. If there is a time limit then this need to be explained at the start of the meal. We were only there an hour which is hardly excessive for two courses with wine and coffee.

Aqua is a lovely restaurant in the heart of south croydon. We had to book the table just as well the place was packed.

First time visit here, and yes we will be going back. Started halloumi and whitebait, followed by Jacob ladder beef rib and duck confit, absolutely superb food, and excellent service from friendly staff

A group of 6 of us visited. The food was fantastic. There was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were friendly. Reasonably priced too! Would definitely go back for another visit.

We had a table of 9 people and ordered the mini Meze with dolmades, meatballs, tzatziki, hummus etc. Very nice. The feta saganaki was delicious. Good meaty mains like kleftiko and mixed souvlaki plus plenty of fish and pasta dishes.

It was my friends birthday so we can had dinner here. Food was good but the only let down was that the restaurant was consistently cold especially the toilets were freezing as much as the toilet bins don’t work. Would scored them higher and being regulars there not much of an invite of a re-visit so how do you retain your customers? Especially when we told you that it was our friends birthday? Need to rethink of next visit.

This venue lacks ambience. There's their small fish tank with some random gold fish and a lonesome sucker fish. It seemed out of place.

I am very disappointed with the New Years Eve inflated menu price - the food was good but not worth the money. I booked for the evening of New Years Eve, that afternoon I received a call from a member of staff informing me that there was a set menu and that it was half price...I thought great!! On arrival to Aqua we were presented with a menu (3 courses for £75 & they claimed this was half price), I nearly fell off my seat - they were the same dishes from the regular menu and what I ordered would have cost £28.50 from the regular menu excluding drinks. There was not even a complimentary drink thrown in for this ridiculously over priced menu. I certainly will not be dining there New Year's Eve 2019!!

Wow what a night! We had 23 people at my surprise 50th who were looked after superbly. The area we were given was spacious and separate from other diners in the restaurant. The food was served fast and hot but we were not rushed at any stage. Everything everyone ordered was cooked beautifully and if we needed anything it was brought straight away. Portion sizes were large and nothing was scrimped on. Considering there were so many of us the service was fantastic, fast and delivered with a smile. The interior is modern but cosy and the atmosphere is buzzy!! Toilets are clean and smell nice, lots of paper to use. Individual all the guests commented how lovely the place was and they would definitely go back. We were allowed to decorate our section and bring our own cake. Parking at the rear is a bonus all in all a perfect evening.

I visited Aqua on New Year’s Eve with 10 members of my family - what a fantastic night! The food was lovely and the staff couldn’t do enough for you! Hope to go again next year. Margaret Poole

Recently met with a good friend at this lovely restaurant for lunch. Despite being extremely busy with office party groups both the food and the service were spot on. Really enjoyed and were not rushed at all.

This restaurant seems to be all about making money and bumping up prices due to the festive season.

Second time we’ve been here, the food here is very good there is no doubt but it’s more about the people and service and it’s here it goes a little tits up.

I found the staff not very welcoming or attentive, the food was ok nothing special, I wont be in a hurry to go back.

We’ve been to Aqua several times over the years. It says something that it’s survived so long on this very competitive street with many restaurants. And last night it lived up to expectations, faultless food. 4 of us had the Janice ladder beef dish - delicious. Beer and wine flowed with an attentive service.

We go here for lunch on workdays mostly and they offer excellent two course offers for £12. Their pasta is delicious and the cocktails are very good also

We booked a table for 6 to celebrate a major birthday and were really in the mood to enjoy our evening. As it was a Sunday night we did not expect a busy restaurant and loads of atmosphere but hoped we’d be made welcome.

Had a lovely meal here with my husband for our Anniversary.The staff are always lovely and look after you. This us only the second time I have been here I would recommend it as I will be going back again.

Three of us went for Sunday lunch (wife’s birthday) ... not too busy , attentive polite staff .. service at a comfortable pace not hurried .. food above expectations. Tasty, not over seasoned and generous portions.. will definitely go back..

Good selection of dishes on menu so perfect for dining with friends and family. Seafood, steaks, pasta dishes. Not too pricey. Service was fantastic although the restaurant was very quiet so can't comment as to how it would be on a busy night.

We have been to Aqua bar and grill a couple of times over the last 6 months as it was recommended to us. We went today with our family as the food has always been good. We had a delicious lunch and all chose different courses from the set menu. The food was very good quality, beautifully presented (thank you chefs).The service was excellent.

Went with family because of tastecard deal and asked about any restrictions and was shown the red print on the main menu, were then handed paper set menus with no restrictions on them so we all ordered. When it came to paying he bluffed his way out of hounouring the deal and came out with such nonsense I gave up trying to get through to him. This was after a very ordinary meal ( including a lemon tiramisu with no lemon and meals not appearing as written on the menu, eg: no mash with chicken or fish dinners). I will report to tastecard about getting them taken off.

My first time here with a group of friends, some of who have been here before. What a lovely place. Very welcoming and friendly staff. The menu is not overwhelming which is great. A nice choice of Mediterranean food. Reasonable prices too.

Was a second visit and much better than the first . The manager looked after us very well , recommended us the maze platter what was great . Follow by the steak medium rare with a lovely salad . The price for 4 people with 2 bottles of wine £250 in my opinion for the quality and service was just perfect. We will return for sure !!

Absolutely LOVED the food here. Pork belly was melt in your mouth amazing, I could have eaten it over and over. Friendly staff and space for the buggy. Can't wait for my next meal!!

We have been eating at Aqua since they first open and never had a bad meal or experience. The service is always great and the food delicious. I was pleased to see that they have live music now every Friday. I really enjoyed the Greek music the other day, great idea and well done!

Often visit Aqua, this time for a 60th birthday celebration. The food was excellent as always and the service very good. The steaks are hard to beat as are the scallops.

18th May was my Birthday and my kids had organised a party at this venue. We arrived at about 13.30 for a 1400 start and the staff were serving the Prosecco. The table was laid out on two sides with a gap in the middle which is where I sat. I seemed as if nothing was too much trouble for the staff who very attentive but discrete. The food was delicious and everyone commented so. There was an a-la-cart menu but we (my son and daughter) opted for the fixed menu of three courses for £15.00. All the drinks were reasonable and yes there was an optional 12.5 % service charge but well worth it. We were never rushed and left the restaurant about 17.40. My daughter-in-law provided the cake, balloons and place setting pictures. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and would highly recommend the venue. I will be going there again soon to try the Greek side.

Can’t recommend this place more. The staff here couldn’t be more helpful. I was arranging a 70th birthday from a distance and they made it completely hassle free.

We came here as a party of 4 for dinner over a weekend, it was a nice day so we sat near the windows and they were all open which was nice.

The scallop starter was amazing, although the first time we went the scallops were bigger, the second time half the size. The slow cooked lamb, Kleftiko, melts in your mouth and lovely in rich flavours, the Lobster Ravioli had a flavoyrsome sauce but the filling...

We had never been to this restaurant before we wanted a restaurant that catered for all ages ranging from 10 to 91,we weren’t disappointed menu very varied and portion decent sizes.

popped in here for a Sunday lunch on my daughters recommendation around 4.30 on a Sunday afternoon. got to say we were the only patrons which is never a good sign but soldiered on and came out very happy.

Lovely staff, which is the first thing which strikes you. Friendly, helpful, attentive (but not overly so - they know when to leave you alone, which is very important). We have visited before during the week, when it has been quieter, so it was a bit of a shock to discover how very popular it (deservedly) is at weekends. We went, this time, on a Sunday lunchtime and it was buzzing. We expected to wait a very, very long time for any food, due to some large groups, but we were served within a good time, not too quickly, not too slow - perfect. All the food was very good and we had a lovely, relaxed lunch. We intend to return again and again. Lovely place, good food, reasonable prices, good location.

Came here for dinner with my partner on a Saturday night. It is advisable to book as it was very busy. The service was slow, but this was because we arrived at a peak time and they had a large birthday party in - but the waiters were all friendly and you could see they were rushed off their feet which is fair enough. We were brought our drinks fairly quickly, but there was quite a wait for the food to come out. It was worth the wait as everything was delicious.

Nice enough. Staff friendly and accommodating. Lamb was ok but it was partially overcooked (a little stringy; just one part though). It was a large group so the pressure may have been too much. I would definitely eat here again and recommend to others. My friend says the foods better during the week.
