Rubbish, boiling dishwater called coffee, not good at all .Fabulous place to stop nice freindly staff but need training on how to make coffee. Realy spoiled it for themselves .Coffee very weak just amounted to boiling milky water . Any barista would know you only put boiling water in tea .

How this place is not in the top 5 places to eat I do not know. We went for breakfast, 2 full English and a veggie version, both were very good , cooked very well and very tasty . You can look forward to sausage, egg, bacon, beans, and tomatoes, with toast. The only down side is the wooden knives and forks , but in these covid times an obvious choice .The staff are very helpful , and friendly , and do a mean cappuccino. Put all this together with fantastic views of the beach and across the Solent to Portsmouth , and you have a great place to eat.I would highly recommend giving this place a visit.

I hate the Isle of Wight. It’s a pain in the arse. However, one of the things that makes it a bearable visit is this place. The soups are to die for, the baguettes are fresh and tasty. The coffee is good. The view is perfect to relax and forget about the fact your stuck on the rock off the edge of England/humanity. Thank you Appley Beach Cafe for keeping me sane.

WE have been coming here for 20 years or more since my daughter was 3 she's now 26. Always take a photo of us sitting on the stone lions at the front even though she's now grown up. Food atmosphere always good and its got better over the years. I love the summer months on a Monday night when Derek Sandy sings and gets all the children to limbo on the beach. He's like the pied piper all the children follow him its brilliant. Its like a massive beach party and I just love it. Barbecue and pizza add on I hope they make a mint.

I have been on the receiving end many times of poor service and almost all times I just right it off but the service I received today was of such a disgraceful standard that I needed to take a few hours to write factually rather than emotionally. My girlfriend and I went to this cafe this afternoon and ordered fish and chips. Being the patient person I am, I waited forty minutes, noticed customers that were there before us had all left, customers coming after us receiving there food and eventually decided to go question the whereabouts of our lunch. The waitress apologised and said she would look in to it. Two waiting customers in the meantime had been served while we continued to wait. Eventually the manageress came out and by then my patience for waiting for what tasted like frozen fish had reached it’s ceiling. The manageress said they were very busy, a few empty tables, and that is the best you could do is to insult our intelligence, by saying it takes forty minutes to make frozen fish and chips. After a subtle bribe of a free drink that I ignored, we were then told not to come back. My girlfriend and I were both calm during the entire conversation and your manageress/owner, said we were rude and not to come back. Lol, no argument there my dear, will definitely not be coming back, decision made about half an hour before you brought our meal. I think it is disgraceful of you Miss manageress to tell your customers who were on the receiving end of your poor service not to return. You ought to have a career change or get a serious wake up to what good service not even excellent, just good actually is. To the owner, in a business where you have lots of competition, you should have a relook at the staff you employ or consider training them to a higher standard, if you wish to keep new customers, judging by quite a lot of previous customers reviews. Shame at least the coffee and views are good.

I live in the town and went to the Appley Cafe for a fish and chip lunch using a voucher from The Price is Wight. £10.95 for two instead of the usual £17.00. I know the cafe and the location is stunning especially on a summers day. Thinking we had a bargain on the food we ordered two lagers. I was surprised by the price of £4.00 for a 330ml bottle of Peroni served in a single use plastic glass. From the write up I had the impression that the venue had been upgraded to a cafe bar. The picture of the food shown bore no resemblance to the very sad small piece of frozen fish served with under cooked oven fries, wet soggy salad and cheap coleslaw. Looking at other meals being served I would say ours was up to the usual standards. The service was slow and disorganised. We won't be returning and the whole experience was unpleasant. What a shame when they have gone to the trouble of promoting the cafe. Oh and they really should make a point of clearing up the plastic glasses rolling around in the area outside the cafe, some of which must end up on our beautiful beach. Seems ironic when they won't serve drinks in glasses because of the beach (It's alright to serve coffee in glasses) instead the cheap light glasses will end up on the beach and in the sea.

Terrible value for money and rude young man serving-most of the staff could do with learning to smile. Ice creams are £2.80 and can only be described as child sized-presented in a cheap cone that you would buy in the supermarket. I have really never been given such a small ice cream unless for a child, we even had a good giggle over it and sent pictures to our friends on the mainland. They are sure going to rake it in over the Summer unless you walk along to The Dell where the staff are lovely and food and ice creams are amazing.

Brilliant for £3 breakfasts. Dog sausages if you have animals for 50p. Mine is elderly and blind and deaf but she knows her way to this cafe..she knows a good sausage when she finds it. Excellent tasty cakes, many made in house. Obviously when the season ends and school starts staffing reduces - so expect that. It's the same across the beach. There's paid parking nearby and easy access to the beach. This is popular with families that enjoy the Punch and Judy shows and Derek Sandy singing on Mondays. A new seating area has just been created which I personally enjoy. It's very comfortable. I'm not sure that anybody should be putting their feet on the cushions! Not very nice for others. I've found the staff a great bunch. Obviously at busy times they can get stretched. This is a good value cafe with good food. Other establishments on the beach and above offer more up Market selections. But at the west end of Appley Park this offers a friendly stopping off spot to rest your bones if you've been walking.

We popped in for some lunch after a walk along the beach. There was no one else eating and yet it took half an hour for two baguettes to arrive. When they did arrive the food was really poor quality, the baguette was from frozen that had been heated to Luke warm, the sausage was a very cheap poor quality sausage that had been cooked from frozen in a deep fat fryer and was inedible. We asked for our money back for one of the two baguettes and I can honestly say the response we got from the member of staff was so rude we were taken aback. We did eventually get our money back but after the same member of staff had continued to be rude even in front of her manager and also raising her voice to the point of shouting! We were absolutely horrified by her attitude and will NEVER be returning to this place. For them to allow their staff to talk to customers in such a way and for them to think it's ok to charge people for cheap nasty food is a disgrace. Every thing in the cafe is straight out of a packet, you'd be better off popping to the corner shop and grabbing a sandwich.

I understand that small businesses have to pick up the cost of these card services but the cost is usually hidden in the price of some or all of the sales but what aggravated the lady in front and myself is the staffs poor attitude of 'take it or leave it, next please' Cashless payments are becoming the norm and they clearly know this and are ripping customers off. People will stop going there, the bad attitude staff will be out of a job and so the circle goes around These are challenging times for everyone, I have no objection to a small charge but a pound!? The lady in front of me was so angry at the staff that she made them put the order together then left.Yes you are told about the charge but that does not make it right it. The staff need to moderate their attitude, grow up and find a better way to explain the managements position on a rather amateurish way of making money. Challenge them on this policy.Other than that the tea was rather nice...

Visited for a late breakfast at £5.95 including what turned out to be instant coffee. Greasy taste, cheap sausages, cold beans, nice bacon and hot mushrooms...cheap white bread.Disappointing; don't waste your money.Walk 200yards further for a superior alternative.Oh and the toilet... :(

We called in here for lunch while walking along the sea front and were pleased with the selection on the menu. We ordered lunch and drinks and after about 15 mins our food came. The food was really tasty...my husband said it was as good as my cooking which was high praise as he never usually says that when we eat out! The chef/waiter was friendly and helpful.

We live in Ryde and often walk along the esplanade with our dogs and stop to enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy the sea views. We had an Australian friend staying with us for the weekend and decided to go to Appley Beach cafe for breakfast. We parked the car and realised we had no change - so walked around to the cafe and took a table outside. We went in and ordered three breakfasts, two coffee's and a mug of tea. The bill came to £30 and we paid - I then asked the girl serving if she could change a £5 note so that I could pay the parking charge. She politely told me that they had a policy not to give change for parking. I didn't make any fuss - returned to the table and told my partner and friend that I needed to go and get some change. I weren't back to the car and was just about to drive off - when my partner came running back and told me she had got change - after going back in and saying we have just paid £30 for food and you won't give us change - and made a fuss (so was given the change). This was after the girl suggested that we have our £30 back...!!Our drinks arrived and the mug was sat on a saucer that was too small - on lifting the mug - it was filthy. A waiter then brought the three breakfasts - which were all very nice, however - he just left all the dirty dishes that had been left my the previous people sitting there, so we picked everything up and put them in a chair so that we had room to eat our food.I can honestly say that I have never experienced such incredibly poor customer service in a restaurant/cafe setting - neither have I felt so compelled to leave negative feedback before, but there was no way I could leave this experience unchallenged. Absolutely disgusting service and we will never patronise this establishment again - neither would I recommend it to others...POOR POOR POOR..!!

We decided to have breakfast before going on the beach for the day. We all had the £3 breakfast with a cup of tea and orange for the kids. The teas came in a proper size mug not a small cup as we would say from Yorkshire. We had a 15 minute wait for our breakfast but who cares with a view like the one you get of the beach outside the café. The breakfast came out piping hot and freshly cooked well worth the wait. We will be revisiting this café on our next visit to Appley Beach

Perfectly placed for Ryde beach and the car park just behind it. Typical cafe food most of which is reasonably priced. However, two things to mention. Canned drinks are £1.40 ouch! Chips took an hour (felt like forever but they did arrive). You have to sit outside and just wait for your number to be called...

Visited after a lovely day on Ryde beach. Sat outside as we had dogs with us, location was lovely. We were only intending to have drinks but saw potato skins on the chalk menu inside, my husband asked how many came in a portion and we had a reply of a bowl full! ordered three bowls to share as didn't know how big they would be. Didn't take too long to arrive but when they did they were just a bowl of plain dry potato skins! Not knowing what to say my husband started to eat but we were pretty sure they should have some kind of cheese on them? We called over the waiter and asked if there was anything missing off them. He had no idea! About 5 minutes later he returned with three bowls of melted cheese and bacon pieces and told us that the chef was new and didn't know that they should come with it on! Only problem was we had eaten nearly all of the dry skins! Not sure if service will be improved but a real shame if it doesn't as location is lovely!

The Appley Cafe is one of our regular Ryde haunts. There is a reasonably wide selection of food available which we have always enjoyed. Menus with prices are on the tables and you order at the tills inside. The outside tables are slightly elevated above the beach so give an amazing view over the Solent to Portsmouth. It is largey used by holiday makers so if you time it badly there can be quite a wait - go before you are starving and enjoy the view with an aperitif from the bar :)My cheese and pickle sandwich did have a little more pickle than I would have used myself but if you like a good helping of pickle this is the place for you - really!

Came here today. As soon as we walked in we found the staff to be very rude and unhelpful. I ordered a cheese burger, I couldn't see any menus laying around so thought I'd settle with just a burger. Burger came out with onion on it. I went back to the counter and politely asked to have no onion to which the staff got very rude and in the end they told me to scrape it off myself. I agreed and said "the service here is dreadful. Really shocking". An older man then came over and said "I'll scrape it off". I said "no it's fine, I'm doing it" to which he then snatched it out of my hand. Won't ever be going there again and from what I've heard many people agree with me. Can't get over how rude they were over a simple mistake that could of been easily sorted!

As a local I stop here most days while out walking my dog.The food is excellent not just in quality but in quantity too.The prices are reasonable after all, where can you purchase a perfectly cooked breakfast for three pounds? The staff are mostly pleasant and give service with a smile. When they are busy during the holidays they don't have time to chat and exchange pleasantries the way they normally do but discerning customers will recognise that efficient service must come first.I have plenty of cafes to choose from. This is one of those I choose to return to time and time again.

Me and my family attended here after a 4 mile morning walk, as we approached the building (9.30) we asked if it was open. All the young kids outside where laughing and looking at each other and then one of the younger males said 'ask inside.' Which we did, and they said yes biting their tongues - we should of gone somewhere else at this point. We ordered some drinks and some toast and the girl at the till was very pleasant. Our toast took a ridiculously long time, it was embarrassing. Then when I asked for some marmalade the man huffed and brought out a pot from the kitchen which had bits of butter and crumbs in. Overall wouldn't be returning.

Turned up for a sandwich and a coffee. Three members of staff but only one actually serving. She was pretty useless and considering it is a food establishment she was working with very long hair NOT tied up.I waited in the queue and was pretty annoyed at the fact that one of the three staff had decided to take his break got his drink and an ice cream and although joining the queue after me, was then served by a member of staff who appeared out of the kitchen and then promptly disappeared after he served the member of staff, leaving me still waiting! The three members of staff working were all young and seemed more interested in turning up the music and pretty much ignoring the customers!Services was slow and by the time I received my sandwich I had long since finished my coffee. The only positive thing to say is the sandwich was very nice but then again you cant really go too wrong with a sandwich. Will not be revisiting, unless they get some better staff!

Visited several times last year with a friend who lives nearby and always liked calling in for a nice latte and a piece of cake. There used to be plenty of tables inside but now the place seems to be dominated by many cold drinks machines and there only seemed to be about six small tables inside. When I visited last Sunday 29th One of the tables for four was occupied by a single person who was waiting for his takeaway meal. An awful lot of business was lost as people were walking out as there was nowhere to sit inside. Such a shame

Stopped off here during a walk from Ryde enjoying the sunshine. Just wanting. Welcome drink, we sat outside on one of the tables. The cafe is shared with a more up market restaurant on the upper floor and the forecourt is shared. During our stay, a guy who we assume is the owner turned up in his Range Rover and went in. The next ten minutes or so were spent listening to his staff and himself loudly discussing how the restaurant was encroaching on the forecourt, how they couldn't get or keep good staff and how he had to get to the wholesaler. Not very professional really.

This beach cafe has a great location just off the beach. It has a few tables inside and many more outside. They have a good menu and all you wouId expect do from a beach cafe. The toilets were in a bit of a state and only one was working when I visited so would be a queue on a busy day. The senior staff were not very friendly but the young man working in the kitchen who brought us the food was very good, helpful and friendly they need more like him.

Stopped while on a walk to Seaview. Lovely to gaze out to sea whilst sitting outside. We were lucky to get a table as it was very busy. However they should be quicker at clearing the tables. We also had to pile up the previous people's plates to make space for our drinks before our food came. The prawn banquette was nice and so was the pasta salad. Handy for popping into when going for a walk. Would not go there just to eat. The young man who served us was very polite and friendly.
