Applebee's in Southwark

Just arrived in London on vacation and we had heard about the fish & chips. They were the best fish and chips I've had. Our server - Irinel - was wonderful and friendly to us new arrivals. I highly recommend to anyone wanting a great meal experience.

Best seafoodlunch I’ve had in London. Fantastic spot to watch the world go by at the Borough Market. Maya made us feel so welcome and helped keep kids fed and entertained!

I have a slight allergy to shrimp, but they were kind enough to ask me three times. I'm touched. There are a lot of locals too. The food is delicious too. Enjoy your meal~

Maya and and Irinel took care of us like royalties. The food was amazing, fresh and tasty, the tuna steak is fantastic. Finished off with complimentary limoncello on the house. Already looking forward to our next visit. Keep it up!

Lovely restaurant - even though I don't like olives I loved the ones they serve here, and the seabream was delicious. Ella's service was very friendly and quick.

Had the best tuna steak ever here, the English mustard was a perfect touch. Our waitress Jamima’s service was outstanding and she made the whole experience better

This was one of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to. The staff were lovely and friendly and the food…. OMG!! We opted for the luxury platter. We were a bit skeptical at first as it is fairly pricey, however it was worth every penny and be more than happy to pay that again. Will definitely be returning 👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere 👌 😍

I chose 'Catch of the Day' fresh crab penne pasta. The portion was so small. They didn't even fill the bowl. £24. It was so expensive for very little food. I complained & said that was my main meal and it was a very small portion. Perhaps they should have served the dish as a starter. Not that catchy!

If you want a child’s portion then this place is for you, over priced and inattentive staff. Seafood risotto was over rated and salty.

The lady cooking the fish was beyond rude. This is such a friendly Market, it's a shame to loose customers.

Super tasty “Fish and Chips” In terms of price for London it “goes”!

We had a pre theatre meal here. The fish was amazing. The service was friendly and prompt. It was very reasonably priced. Will certainly come again.

None of the food stalls appealed today. So I stumbled upon Applebee's. Had fish and chips here. The tartare sauce was home made and definitely did not disappoint. No mechanical tones to the flavour at all. Someone definitely cared about maintaining the high standards. I'm working class and used to a huge fish and a shovelful of chips. The portion size here is not the jumbo takeaway box, but also shouldn't be. The fish was a good size and tasted great. Superbly flaky and the classic taste of white fish (like I remember as a child). The chips again were in an appropriate portion size and cooked to a superb standard. I felt just as full as if I'd had the Friday night chippy experience. The service here has been exemplary and much credit to the excellent staff here. Thank you to the chefs and front of house for a superb dining episode.

5 of us went to this restaurant for Mother’s Day and we thought the food was amazing. We got 2 luxury seafood platters and it was absolutely delicious. It is a pricey restaurant so the service could’ve been a little better but so worth it as we all had a great time so thank you!

I had the mixed wrap on Borough fish and prawns what had absolutely no taste :-/ was pretty disappointed....

Delicious food and really pleasant staff but no dress code for staff. A group of 4 siting close to use were very loud, clapping, laughing and generally loud, they knew the manager so no one told them anything. Very hot in the restaurant, dirty toilets, wrong price on receipt for one of the dishes, took long to resolve it.

Yet another wonderful post theatre /early dinner at Applebees! Delicious scallops followed by hake. We love the way you cook fish-perfect in every way! Always look forward to eating there and have never been disappointed.

This restaurant is now one of my favourite spots in London. It’s a lovely small restaurant in borough market with great atmosphere , friendly staff and well the Food is something else. Outstanding.

This place is a great little Italian run fish restaurant in borough market where the fish is always fresh and the food tastes as good as it looks. The staff know their fish and are always helpful and not overbearing. I tried a cold Italian fish soup called caciucco which I had never tried before and which was very refreshing on a hot summers day. I followed that by tuna steak with a side of chips which was cooked to perfection medium rare. No bad attitude in this place just great food and great service at a reasonable price point.

My absolute go-to for delicious fish. Had the tuna steak and it was absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection. Staff friendly. Could perhaps offer some more white wines by the glass? Coming back soon!

From the service, to the recommendations, to the food, everything was top tier! The Madagascan XL prawn and the seabass in prosecco sauce were absolutely fabulous!!!

The portions for the main course were very small. More like an appetiser tbh. Effect of shrinkflation. But was delicious overall.

Had a wonderful early dinner on a Saturday evening at Applebee's. The fish was fabulous. I had the Scottish salmon, my wife the seafood platter (can be made for one, so do ask) and the cod for my young daughter. Everyone loves their meal. Thank you and a shout out to the Italian male staff: don't know his name, so can't mention, but he made us feel welcome and made a great dinner into a wonderful one. Will definitely visit again.

Seafood platter was fresh and cooked to perfection, a real luxury for two. Service is friendly and welcoming. The only slight negative is that the tables are small, but that's likely in an intimate restaurant in Borough market. I will be back again to try the fish and chips.

Went here last night …2 of us… oysters (large , lovely with a great sauce) … shared some mussels ..sashimi and sides. Desserts. Really lovely - walked past before .. quality place I’d go again to

Excellent experience and perfect way to celebrate a birthday. We had the cod cheeks, sea bream and tuna, all delicious. Notably the Cacciucco was the tastiest soup I’ve ever had.Well looked after by the whole team. We look forward to returning soon.

Top restaurant for Fish and especially the best Fish'n Chips ever eaten in London. Elegant but informal, personnel very kind and nice and also great aperitif - Pimm's N°1 Cup was perfect! We had lunch twice in a week of vacation in London. Very good quality/price ratio. Highly recommended. Ottimo ristorante di pesce e soprattutto il miglior Fish'n Chips mai mangiato a Londra. Elegante ma informale, personale gentilissimo e simpatico, ottimo anche l'aperitivo: la Pimm's N°1 Cup era perfetta! Abbiamo pranzato due volte in una settimana di vacanza a Londra. Durch Zufall nach Marktbesuch hier eingekehrt. Zwangloses Ambiente, Service sehr aufmerksam und nett. Seafood Platte super lecker. Absolut empfehlenswert

Great spot in Borough Market with good table staff and service

We had an amazing swordfish as catch of the day and lovely penne with crab.

Essen sah wirklich ausgezeichnet aus wir hatten die lobster platte für 2 Personen, der Lobster war OK sowie die Muscheln, der Rest hat aber absolut garnicht gemundet ich hatte das Gefühl es war zerkocht oder nicht richtig Bearbeitet, echt schade da man Umgerechnet 200€ + Getränke dafür bezahlt hat. Empfehlen würde ich das Restaurant nach meinem Ersten Besuch NICHT.

Dropped in on a whim, after a mooch around borough market and shared a few starters! The food is top notch and the service fast and efficient! I’d dare say the best seafood Iv had outside of Whitby…. Will definitely be giving Applebees a go the next time we’re back in London

We came here for a birthday and they accommodated us mostly well, but there was definitely miscommunication during this process as we got given our cake back to us with the candles still in the pack when we wanted to celebrate. A little unfortunate. However, the main meal was very good, we ordered a number of dishes with the sea bream being a surprise favourite! I would recommend this is you can get it.

Nothing beats a visit to Borough Market and a nice bit of lunch in Applebee’s! The perfect London outing in my opinion. Thanks as always for the amazing food.

I love seafood and visit loads of Seafood restaurants with friends, I've frequented many in the Borough market area. The service here was great as the staff was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was okay. However unfortunately for the first time in my life in London I got food poisoning from the Oysters at Applebee's. I was in severe pain for 48 hours, and I know for a fact it was the food from this place (I work from home and eat pretty much the same meals everyday). I'm posting this in the hopes that Applebees will review their health and safety, as I don't want the same happening to anyone else.

Disclaimer, I am big fan of this restaurant! The good stuff : The mussels - I say no more on that! Nice wine selection! The grilled sea bass was lovely! Lots of flavours, looked really good as you can see, and decent portion! The chorizo and monk fish skewer was also really good - although a tad dryer than I’d have liked it to be! The red cabbage slaw that comes with it is a good combination of texture and flavour! I’ll have that again soon 😊 The staff were very nice and I like this restaurant, I keep coming back for more! The not so good stuff : (none at the mo)

Been looking forward to the luxury seafood platter. Disappointed. Bland. Though the scallops was lovely. Still not worth the money. Won’t be having that again. May come back to try other dishes. Not anytime soon though.

One of my favourite seafood restaurants in London. Never disappoints!

Nice place, had fish and chips. Good taste and good portion size.

I made a reservation for two, and called them as we were excited for the cold seafood platter. The platter comes seafood and 6 oysters, which are valued at £26 from the starter options. I asked (as we both dislike oyster) if we could substitute the oysters for something less expensive, the waitress said ‘they are only £26’ and it comes with crab etc, £26 is over 25% of the cost of the complete platter, I would have been happy with swapping the oysters for a starter much cheaper. I ended o cancelling the reservation and booked elsewhere. Not everyone likes oysters, in fact who does… they are awful!

We had the seafood platter and it was delicious - fresh, tasty with excellent flavouring. The scallops were big and juicy, king prawns were flavoured with the garlic sauce and the lobster was the best I’ve tasted. I left wanting to come back to try other dishes. I’ll be coming back very soon!

Food and service are amazing, they exceeded the expectations for sure. I was a bit upset with the tables been practically attached one to another not really giving enough privacy to talk. Anyway I highly suggest to try their amazing food at least once in your life, you won't regret it if for sure.

Fish definitely tastes fresh, however the batter on the fish in the fish and chips meal was bland, the platter for two is quite small, the chips weren’t enough for 2 to share and the service was just okay, one woman was quite attentive.

Excellent food and excellent service. Arrived in the early evening and was promptly met by warm staff. The seating was spacious. The food was fresh and delicious...and one of the best Bloody Mary's that I have ever had.

Lovely place and will definitely be returning. My 6 year old loved the mussels and the salmon fillet and chips while my eldest loved their tuna steak with season vegetables. They both left very happy and stuffed. I also got the Oreo cake for my son as a take out which is not something they actually do but kindly accommodated me. He loved it and when asked for a bite looked at me as if I had lots my mind eating it in one go. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Among the bustle of Borough Market I came across Applebee's Fish. I was so glad that a table was available inside to get away from the crowd and the noise. Within relaxed décor, very friendly and efficient staff worked well to deliver great tasting, well presented, food. My whole Seabream was perfect! Although sounding lovely, I did not try any dessert, so it gives me something to look forward to next time. As a sea food lover, I wholly recommend a visit.

The fish and chips were good. There is only one option and it is Cod. The washroom was not clean enough. The patio has some potholes that’s why I gave the atmosphere 3 stars. The waitress was friendly and accommodating.

Very tasty food. The sauce the seafood was cooked in was unbelievably tasty. The luxurious Seaford platter could have had some other seafood elements other than prawns, scallops and lobster for the price. The creme brulèè was very good. Liked it better than the coconut cake.

came in for what I thought was traditional fish and chips It was not great at all small portion of chips and over cooked Md fish tested really bland regret not waiting to go to my local fish and chip shop and over priced

What a beautiful lunch! We sat in the Gazebo and had wonderful attentive but not obsequious service. The food was delicious - my sister had oysters which tasted fresh and perfect; I had the bread selection with tapenade. We then had salmon with asparagus and a crab meat penne. We will definitely return because the entire experience being in the centre of the buzzing Borough Market was exceptional.

What a disappointment travelled into London to have there prawn and lobster platter seen on tik tok. Got there at 12.30pm they had run out of lobster so had fish and chips. The chips were hard inedible when I told the waiter he said they were fried to long. The other dish was monkfish. Five bite size pieces on a bed of coleslaw £29 So over rated and over priced. Will not recommend this restaurant or go again

Brilliant fish restaurant. Fresh tuna grilled was stunning. NB I have a weak back and I found the wooden seats quite uncomfortable after 2hours. Cushions, please.

Took a while for our mains to come, but all in all very worth it. The pasta was amazing and fresh, and the portions were very hearty. Our server was very understanding and tried her best to get our food to us. The seafood was all very fresh.

The food was exceptionally good, no pretentiousness at all. Good portion, well presented, skilfully cooked. Even the cocktails were delicious. . The staff were friendly, professional, very welcoming. I really enjoyed my lunch there. Already planning the next visit.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. This area sometimes has so-called tourist traps but this was not one. Loved the seabream, salmon, scallops, tiramisu and creme brulee. 4 Stars because the sides were ok but not amazing and the chocolate desert was too hard to eat and strong flavour. But would definitely would come back for the seafood and the tiramisu . Oh and excellent service

Applebees in America is better than the over cooked, bland dishes you’ll be served here. The service is questionable. The crab pasta had several bits of shells and left an undesirable after taste in your mouth. The mussels with ginger curry broth were lackluster in pretty much anything flavor related. The XL king prawns are over-cooked, yet raw in the middle. The monkfish was so overcooked it ate like rubber. Honestly, the best part of the meal was the bread plate with olive tapenade and chive butter, literally the only saving grace. Skip this joint. Honestly a waste of 200£.

I absolutely loved this place! So much so that we had to go a second time during our few day visit just to try more dishes. The seafood is so fresh and the dishes are creative and taste amazing. It is located at a good spot in borough market and the service was really good as well. I would definitely recommend taking the scallop starter and the oysters as well!

A good place to eat fish in London, and dessert was tasty too. Friendly staff. A bit too noisy for my taste, but overall nice atmosphere. My second visit confirmed my initial opinion.

The Lobster Platter with Scallops and Prawns is quite amazing - delicious and fresh. A lot for two people to eat. Very enjoyable.

The food is disgusting was overcooked and bland additionally the state of the restaurant was dirty, however a young black severed us which was the only saving grace of the experience. Honestly was applauded by the behaviour of the manger Carole who showed intense discretion as we are black and she treated us like dirt didn’t want to explain the food options and walked away mid conversation. My mum had dropped her utensils and asked for change she then proceeded to laugh at us with colleagues and bring back the same dirty dishes.. DO NOT COME HERE CAROAL THE MANGER RUNS A RASIST ESTABLISHMENT
