Had fish and chips which was great and the plate was full. It was my niece's 40th birthday lunch, which we had a great day. There was also another birthday that afternoon and the lady came over to say happy birthday which was nice of her.

A real friendly place with great customer focus. We had a surprise 80th for my father in law and they were absolutely brilliant helping set it up. Prices are fantastic.

So a Monday night in February is not necessarily a regular night out, however if you are to go anywhere, then this place would have to be (at least) near the top of your list. The food is homemade, a good amount and very tasty! I could not recommend this place enough and I will certainly be back. …as for dessert…?

Gorgeous pub and lovely location, had the enchiladas and they were large and delicious. Place smelled of bleach (we were there for lunch at 1pm) service was absolutely shocking. Plates just thrown and skidded in front of us, when we asked for water was given to us holding rim if glass. At first we laughed and found it a bit funny but by the end of our visit it was just plain rude.

Disappointed...large black hair in my macaroni cheese...should have brought it to waitresses attention..She Seemed annoyed when I asked if we could have portions of the childrens menu ..as portions sizes looked very generous...And i hate food waste....Wont be back ,had heard so much about the Applebank...

Went in for a meal tonight not realising it was actually closed but the lady who served us couldn't have been any nicer (Tracy) and the food was delicious 😋 as usual. Would definitely recommend 👌

Thirteen of us went for a meal for a family occasion and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and also thought the service was first class.

Food wasn't too great. Starter took a while to come and if you don't want to sit with dogs around then this isn't the place for you. A service charge was added to the bill which seemed very odd. The staff member who was dealing with our bill didn't even say thanks or seem appreciative when given a tip (though we would not have given this had we known there was a 10% service charge).

Absolutely no atmosphere. Kicked out for an early close at 10pm

Visited here a few months ago for the first time in a few years and I like the changes, so much so that I have been back twice since then. The food menu is a lot better than it was on our last visits with the Chinese chicken curry being the star. A decent selection of drinks at a reasonable prices and really nice staff. As always, the view is stunning and the bar/restaurant itself has that olde world feel. Its nice for a quick drink on your own as well.

I was at a family meal, in the back, we had a really good night, the meals all looked great cooked the way everyone wanted. I had fish and chips with some salad and plenty of peas, the plate was absolutely full. It was my sister's 70th birthday and rather than a party she just wanted a meal.

We had a lovely meal which we all enjoyed, no complaints at all. This is my second visit. I will definitely be back. The waitress was very helpful, suggesting the sharing wrap board rather than two singles , I wasn't sure, but she was right to do so, plenty to for two people. Amazing food and great service.

Asked for chilli and cheese nachos, partner who is a chef said looked more like chilli and cheese soup, no taste to the chilli and was swimming in cheese sauce. Waited over 20 min for starter of soup and salt and chilli potato scones, a child could have made them quicker. Service very slow, definitely would not recommend to anyone and most definitely will not be back. 🤑🤑🤑

Food was really good Good sized portions The only wee problem I had was that the mash was reheated + a bit firm for my liking... It s a minor point but I hate stew with a bit of puff pastry in top called steak pie! It isn't steak pie unless the lid is cooked on top of the stew Value for money was good Staff were lovely Only thing was one of our party asked the waitress if her meal could be packed up to go + another waitress lifted it + put dirty cutlery in it so couldn't take it home Shame as it was such a waste

Hadn't been for years and had heard good things recently so popped over on a nice sunny day for my birthday lunch. We parked in the small car park behind and entered onto the outside decking, a really nice setting and only one occupied table. Inside was busy, we approached the bar and were asked if we'd booked. The sole staff member then opened a diary and studied it carefully as if hunting for an opening as I looked at the three empty tables in the bar, thought of the several outside and wondered what lay through the other side. She eventually pointed to a two seater by the wall and said there's one there. I have to add that in all the time we were there and the other tables emptied no one new arrived so not sure what the diary was telling her. We ordered drinks then waited quite a while for the food order to be taken. Again, I wasn't really feeling the love from mein host, for her definition of a welcome I'd refer you to Billy Connolly on Parkinson with Angie Dickinson. The menu had a large variety of pub classics, pizza, pasta and curries. Too much can sometimes be a worry and it proved the case. We both plumped for the sliders board, 3 small burgers with chilli cheese bites and fries. I went for the loaded fries at an extra cost. When the food arrived it did look promising but the proof is in the tasting. The southern fried chicken burger had been southern fried too long leaving a dry, tough piece of meat with a hard crumb, definitely not home made either. The beef burgers were also overdone no pink or soft middle with a nice charred outside, just dry overdone meat. All the buns were toasted just that wee bit too long too. Having paid £3 extra for the loaded fries I was disappointed to see I had half the amount of fries than my wife. It seems they'd swapped half my chips for the topping. I'd have settled for that for the same price. The chilli cheese bites were good although clearly out of a packet and the sweet chilli sauce was excellent and much needed to add some moisture to a very dry plate of food. We paid at the bar and once more not a smile passed the lips of the staff member, she did ask how the food was and when I said ok she said 'filled a hole eh?' Yip, can't argue with that. Needless to say for £40 I didn't think it was value and won't be back. Definitely worth paying a bit more for some fresh food to be cooked by someone who cares about it or less money at a burger van. Really not sure where the rave reviews are coming from.

Excellent lunch today. First time in Applebank since at school nearly 40yrs ago. Food was excellent and so nice sitting outside on terrace.

I visited just over a year ago, and it would've been a 2* at best, but things have dramatically improved the now. I'm not sure if it's a new proprietor or happier staff, and I don't really care..... The Applebank Inn is now special for me and mine, great food, reasonable priced and happy-go-lucky. Great atmosphere now. After my first two visits, I just drove by, but now I gotta pop in for a swiffty an banta. The Applebanks heart is beating hard again. Parking is a B... Hatch .......so cab it ,

The first time trying here food was amazing staff were brilliant definitely would recommend, the view is lovely too, which would be a really nice place to sit outside in the summer

We love the Applebank, it's family friendly, dog friendly. Food is fantastic and you have a beautiful view of the river. The staff are very attentive and friendly, we dont live local to here but we are never away it just has a great atmosphere.

My only concern is when you go to the car park at the side of the building It's very dark but also there is low roof edge which you could easily catch your face on and the steps are hard to see need to be very careful The lighting is very poor. A serious accident waiting to happen. Otherwise it's a fantastic location friendly staff and will go back again.

Went with family for lunch. Had nachos between us to start, massive portion, between 4 of us couldn't finish. Then had ying yang chicken. It was DELICIOUS! Great staff, brilliant atmosphere & massive portions of delicious food. Already planning next vist. We didn't see The Black Lady ghost this time!

Dog friendly bar with good food. Largish portions. Walk ins OK during weekday afternoons but you would want to book table for weekends and busy evenings. Goodvalue and good service.

This delightful 1700's Inn is considered the most haunted Inn in Scotland. The food is amazing and the service was sensational. Wish we could have eaten here more than once! Try the Haggis appetizer!

I understand it’s the festive period but that does not excuse the attitude of the head member of staff (she was wearing Christmas glasses). We asked if Prosecco was on the menu to be told “we’re really busy, I’ll come back and take the drink order” Ok but not what we asked. My mum’s order was not passed onto the kitchen (waited ages for it to arrive) so our table was offered a free drink but it was literally just 1 free drink, when we asked why we were being charged for 2 small bottles of Prosecco (as the bill did not include a free drink) we were told “oh I wouldn’t give away 2 bottles of Prosecco for free” and said to my mum “I offered you a free drink and you said no” that was not the case as we were offered a free drink but it was not made clear it was only available to one person at the table as we thought we all were being offered a free drink Ok, don’t say we can have a free drink for the inconvenience if you only mean ONE drink, very misleading. It’s a shame as the food was lovely but this particular person needs to change her attitude if they want customers to return

I used to go here a lot when I lived in Larkhall years ago but now seems to have a friendlier, cosier atmosphere than I remember so I will go here again as I am moving back to Larkhall.

Meals were very good but restaurant a bit noisy. Staff were very kind and helpful.

This was a first visit to the Applebank for in at least 5 years, when the food and atmosphere were mediocre to say the least. What a lovely surprise to visit on Sunday for a bite to eat with 2 friends. The welcome was warm and friendly, the surroundings have retained the original feel but reflect the new owners as well. The Menu had a wide variety of dishes to choose from and the food was all fresh, well cooked and nicely presented. We had juicy, tender Salt & Chilli Strips with and separate dish of curry sauce if you like, served with salad, traditional fish and chips and steak pie and chips with vegetables. 2 of us had the hot chocolate fudge cake and cream, which was very sweet but nice. There was a musician on Sunday, which was a nice surprise, but we agreed that it was difficult to chat as it was very loud for the small space. The bill with drinks was very reasonable and we will be back again next month for another tasty meal and a blether. We would recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Went today for lunch. Had no record of our booking .kindly gave us a table. Lady in charge was clearly overwhelmed and short staffed. Food was inedible, service non existent and attitude was even more upsetting as a guest . It’s hard to justify paying these prices for food that you just can’t eat, I truly understand you get what you pay for! Not being able to eat at all is unacceptable.

Food was not great .. short staffed .. rude manager … overall the drink was ok but the food was not great I will not be back … the manager is rude and not very welcoming…. Never ate any of the food as it was not presented in the best of ways.. I understand that places can be short staffed but to be rude and make paying customers feel uncomfortable is not acceptable… only gave 2 stars because the Rosie wine was nice…would have been 1 🤷🏻‍♀️we even booked a table and they had no record of it so we where made to stand for a good 10 mins before we got our seat

Dropped in here for some lunch and yet again was greeted like an old friend made to feel welcome including the dog, who was given some treats. The service was quick and friendly and the food excellent.

I would give more stars , however the last time I ate here. Service was abit slow and my impression of the waiting staff was not good as they were not on the ball with being efficient. The manager however was very clued in and on the ball so I have no issues with them

Just had one of the best meals I’ve had all year. Got the steak and a pasta dish which were fresh, tasty and served super quick. Had the same steak from Miller & Carter a few weeks ago, which had nothing on this. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Couldn’t believe the bill either! Definitely will be back, service with a smile And Big George was allowed outside in the dog area 🐶 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely place. Let us bring in our German Shepard during a very warm day and gave him some complimentary biscuits and water. Food was really nice and staff friendly.
