Amazing find! The large cod was huge, the large sausage was large, the large portion of chips was plenty for 2 of us and the hand battered onion rings were amazing and so many of them we had plenty left over for seconds. Gravy and peas also great! Staff were very friendly and helpful and other customers obviously looked like regulars and very happy. Easy parking outside and amazingly good value for money. Would definitely use again. Very highly recommended!

I was in the area so popped in, the lady was very friendly, I asked about cod and was suggested a fish special. The fish chips and mushy peas were all great and good value for money 100% would recommend

Forget your posh fish and chip restaurants, your national award winners etc. etc. If you want consistently good food at a good price then there is nowhere for miles you will get better. Always friendly service and top quality food. There is a lot of competition in the area but I have to say I have tried them all and none of them come close to this one. No I am not a family member, I do not work for them or know them on a personal level but I do believe in promoting local businesses if they provide a top quality service, which these do.

Just had an exceptional battered cod from here. The fish was fresh and beautifully cooked and the batter so light and crispy. Highly recommend this place.

Tried this place for the first time last night, had a large fish and chips with mushy peas, the chips were nice, the fish was swimming in grease. Was up most of the night with stomach ache due to the amount of grease that was on this food. Never ordering from here again.

Must be good because we are still going here every week : First time here, certainly not the last, if tonight's food was anything to go by we will be regular customers, delicious food and reasonably priced too.

The food is amazing. Lived here in carlton for 17 years why have I only just tried this place.food options are fantastic. Been here few times in last few weeks after work. Stew steak and chips is my go to . I never leave anyone a review but had to compliment the staff and the food.customer service is fantastic polite and really make you feel welcome great place can't compliment them enuff. 😀

Great fish and chips, plus great friendly service

The best fish and chips I've had in a long time. I was off work and decided to grab a treat for my daughter and me. I was unsure whether to get large cod or medium haddock as I prefer haddock but didn't know how big 'medium' would be. I needn't have worried. The owner happily showed me an unbattered haddock, and they were cooked fresh for me. Fish was fresh, hot and nicely flakey when I got it home. Just the right amount of batter. The regular portions of chips were very generous. Battered sausage was fine (hard to go wrong but some places do!) and the curry sauce I ordered was nice and thick, not watery like some places. Daughter was amazed with it all, stating it was delicious. I didn't disagree! I was genuinely happy to find somewhere local that does a great fish and chips. Everything hot, fresh and not too oily. These folks know how important it is to get the oil hot enough. I'll definitely be returning, the beef stew with chips special I saw advertised sounds great, will have to give it a try soon.

Since this chippy had new owners it’s excelled. The foods excellent, the staff are really friendly, it’s good value, the chicken nuggets are the best quality I’ve found from a chippy. Can’t rate it highly enough

In these difficult times,, Dean the owner has done a fantastic job in making his chip shop safe to visit with social distancing and a pre-order system on the doorstep. That aside, excellent fresh fish cooked to order as well as range of home cooked dishes such as steak and kidney and balti which offers something a bit different. I love the fact its spotlessly clean (5 star cleanliness rating) too. Dean and his staff are very friendly and welcoming and its always a nice atmosphere. IMO the best chippy in the Carlton/Gedling area by a distance.

Called in on way home from garden center and had the lunch time special which was mini fish chips peas - I swopped out my peas for curry sauce. The food was excellent more than enough for lunchtime meal - wife gave me half of her fish as she was 'stuffed'. Staff were very pleasant and accomdatin with the swop from peas to sauce at no extra charge - highly recommended 😋

So many people told us we should go so finally went on thursday. Best fish and chips I've had for a long time. Definitely be going back😊

The food is great and the staff are really polite! I heard great things but food was really really oily. When I got home there was a pool of oil in the bag. The food was fresh, and tasted nice once you got paste the oil

I discovered this Fish Bar by chance when I was looking for a house in Mapperley last year. I just bought a cone of chips on my way home and they were so good, I've used it ever since. They also have other dishes on offer.

Had heard good reviews previously so decided to try. Although queuing outside which is the norm at the mo, I liked that my order was taken whilst waiting and so served straight away once in the shop. Very clean inside and friendly staff. Fabulous fish and chips. Crisp batter, great tasting fish and beautifully cooked chips. The menu is varied so a big choice of food. I'll definitely return.

I have been trying chips and cheese all over the East Midlands and so far this one has been my favourite. The chips were fried to perfection with a crispy exterior encompassing a pleasantly textured fresh chip. It was topped with the perfect amount of cheese which was flavourful yet not overpowering and melted to the optimum level. The servers were also amicable and served us very efficiently. I would highly recommend this 'Chippie'

This is a great Fish and Chip shop. It was in the same family for years. Taken over recently by a husband and wife team. They are both so lovely and has retained the same 1st class standard as the previous owner. Always a pleasure to visit my family in Nottingham and buy my tea from here. Family still rave about the standard of the food and the generous portions on offer. Keep up the great work.

I'm in love with the halloumi fritters.

This fish bar has always been a favourite but last week I ordered mini fish chips & peas which is all served together, by the time we came to eat it had all turned quite soggy, so next time it’s all going to be wrapped separately. A great ordering system is in operation whilst standing in the queue.

We have been going here since the new owner Dean took this shop over. These are the best fish and chips we have had for years, they also do the usual pies and sausages, stew which lovely also faggots and curry. And the prices are really good - all serviced with a smile by the friendly staff

We called in for a snack after a night out. Easily the best piece of fish I have ever had. The batter was delicious. Not greasy and a lovely crisp texture. Didn't have chips but I bet they are as good. Will definitely use again. Wish they did a delivery service though. Recommended

Wonderful fish cooked to order and great chips too. Not only do they do standard chipshop fodder but they also do faggots, a home made balti and beef stew. This place is a cut above your average chippy that also does pizza, kebabs etc. A wonderful shop being run by wonderful people. 10 out of 10.
