Anonymous Coffee Co. in Reading

Please don't be put off by the almost nondescript entrance to the premises. The interior is great. It's really nicely laid out. Great colour scheme. Absolutely amazing coffee. Beautifully presented. Very reasonably priced as well. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the products they sell. There's an option to eat in or takeaway. There were chairs and tables inside and in the warmer weather, they open the shutter so you can sit outside. You can see the coffee being roasted on the premises. They utilise the Swiss Water Method, which makes for great tasting and high-quality decaffeinated coffee. They also sell locally produced honey. I can't wait to return.

Anonymous Coffee serves the best coffee in Reading. For me, that is not up for debate. Add on top of this a warm atmosphere, the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and the amazing range of baked goods and you get my favourite place to spend a morning. EDIT: Having visited the new roastery in Peppard I can confirm everything great about anonymous Coffee has been retained and expanded on; well worth a trip, we will be back!

Great coffee roasted on the premises and Phil is friendly and knowledgeable. Picked up a bag of their signature blend beans for our machine at home, but somehow I think I’ll be back pretty regularly!

Anonymous is a coffee that absolutely transforms the shops / cafe that use their beans, and can really tell the love a care for making coffee if training places that don't have a history in selling it. The grumpy goat has turned into my favourite place to get a coffee and really hope I don't regret giving away my secret spot (luckily I have yolk for my Anonymous fix if can get a seat)

Love Phil and the team at Anonymous! Regularly ordering our beans from these guy's often being hand delivered the day after being roasted! Now that is good service! The network of coffee shops across Reading that they supply also keeps us busy, shops that match the same ethos that Anonymous also have! Easy to support independents when they offer such good quality!

The coffee beans we bought were from Uganda, The Coffee Gardens, Miwu beans. This produces a really nice, well-rounded coffee that is fruity and chocolatey in a really subtle and pleasant drink. I can't think of a better coffee, to be honest. We'll be back for more! Also, I really enjoyed the personal touch from Phil. It is really nice to be buying from someone who really cares about what he's doing. Thanks, Phil!

Being a bit of a coffee nerd I’m always on the search for good coffee beans and found Anonymous by walking into the Tasting House In Reading. Always friendly plus once I found out the roast and deliver beans I was sold. Quality local supplier 6*

Absolutely obsessed with this coffee place! The service is amazing, they have lots of fresh cakes on offer from local suppliers and the coffee tastes absolutely amazing! Not over roasted or bitter at all. The batistas are very well trained so that every cup of coffee is perfection.

Great coffee. Great service. Easy to see why it gets so many great reviews! Confused as to why a few people have rated it 1 or 2 stars! The only small thing that might put people off are the prices, but then it's to be expected when it is miles above Starbucks or Costa!

Not a great start as the barista was fairly unfriendly. We ordered a mocha and a decaf Americano and two pastries (nata and Kouign-amann). £9.90 (the coffees were £3.20 for the mocha and £2.50 for the Americano). The coffee was ok, nothing special. The nata was ok, but not as good as ones I’ve had other places. But the Kouign-amann was to die for! I’ve never had one before and it blew my mind: sweet, salty and buttery!!!

Polite and easygoing staff, unremarkable coffee We have been two times here. The first one he flat white coffee was really strong, and the second one it was too creamy and soft We wont back since we can’t expect a specific coffee taste, it looks like a lottery

So pleased that I eventually got around to trying this place. Coffee is superb. Really good, since popping in the first time have been back half a dozen times since. Spoilt for choice of independent coffee shops in a small vicinity.

I can no longer get a small cappuccino there, unless there is a certain barista. I cannot cope with large cappuccinos so used to living abroad, even if long ago furthermore the price is £2.90 so can't afford it regularly.

We hired the upstairs for and vent. Reasonable rate and helpful staff. Products are of a high quality and staff seem to know what they're talking about when it comes to the menu. Great to support an independent and receive high quality service.

This place is definitely my favourite in Reading. :) This is reason why I enjoy mondays or ordinary workdays. Amazing coffee, baristas, nice place with pleasant atmosphere and the best lemon cake. Visit this place!

A gem hidden in central Reading offering truly excellent coffee

I just love the taste of coffee and all the staff are friendly.

If your coffee standards are so high that the average chain doesn't serve coffee that's up to your standards, give this place a try. Phil, of Tamp Culture fame, is the man behind this place, and he hasn't stopped raising the bar.

What a lovely place! Great teas and sensational cakes that rival my wife’s own. We had lemon pistachio Bundt cakes which were so delicious. Nice atmosphere too and unique in that it is twinned with ‘Tasting House’ and you can mix their wares if you choose.

We were in need of a good coffee when driving back on a Sunday late morning from a weekend near London (including the England vs All Blacks game) and I found this place on TA. It involved a detour of the M4 but it proved to be well worth it as the flat white was absolutely perfect - and for a bonus, we found that they share the space at the weekend with a very good pop-up restaurant!

Some of the best coffee we've ever had - expertly made and always a pleasure going in here! Highly recommend popping in for a weekend brunch with your coffee too. Best place in Reading!

Love the coffee here. Made by experienced baristas, with a smooth finish to high standards. Now serving brunch at the weekends. Will have to try soon as the menu is interesting and the food I saw looked really well presented. Down a side street near Blacks. Well worth a visit.

Anonymous has been around for a few months now and the coffee is quality. I always used to frequent Tamp which I have also rated 5 stars but for me Anonymous pips it slightly with the value added by the knowledge of the baristas.

Annonymous Coffee Co. is undoubtedly one of, if not the best independent coffee shops in Reading!

I called in here for a coffee and got an incredibly warm welcome. I’m by no means a coffee expert but the flat white I had was brilliant and I’ll endeavour to be back for more again!

Excellent coffee, deep rich but smooth in taste, sadly only comes in one size. Small collection of good pastries and cakes. Clean and comfortable seating. Stonking!

Having been saddened by the loss of Tutti Frutti at the railway station, then the disappearance of Manhattan in the Oracle, am so pleased to discover Anonymous. Its down the side of John Lewis and right behind the Minster.

Great atmosphere and freindy staff. Phil really knows his coffee. Hands down one of the best places to grab a coffee and cake outside of London. Also gluten free and vegan friendly!

Reading is spoilt with both great independent coffee shops and way to many chains. Anonymous is a great addition to the Reading scene and is run by a passionate, knowledgeable barrista who clearly loves his art.

If you haven't checked this place out already then you're in for a treat. Tasting house now shares its beautiful space with a very passionate barista Phil. The coffee is excellent, there's even dairy free milk suitable for latte art which is unheard of and so far unmatched in the RG postcode. Looks aside the dairy free options taste great which is also not to be taken for granted. The loose leaf teas sampled so far are amazing. The Tasting house staff will even make you a custom vegan toastie if you look pleading enough and the ingredients are top notch so what's not to like. The atmosphere is very peaceful and friendly which is invaluable, anyone who walks in is made to feel welcome. The takeaway cups are compostable, the straws are paper not plastic... it's just a good place. So step away from the caffe Nero, Reading, you're better than that. Try Anonymous instead, there'll be no going back, promise. Also promise they didn't pay me/give me free coffee to write this, it just really is damn good.
