Annaya's Grillhouse in Argyll & Bute

We hadn't booked, and when we saw how busy it was, we didn't expect to be accommodated. But to our delight we were shown to a table with no fuss at all. All the front-of-house staff seemed to thoroughly enjoy their role of looking after customers, attending to everyone's needs with care and a smile. Our main courses, although vegetarian, were very different in flavour, and both delicious. This is somewhere to return to, perhaps in company. It was a pleasure to share the happy atmosphere created by people who really know their cuisine and how to serve it.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and attentive. Best indian food I've had for a while, the chicken bhuna and nan bread were excellent. I though the special curries were a bit expensive but the quality of the food would make the worth every penny.

3rd meal here in 2 weeks with various friends. Every one fabulous. About15 different meals enjoyed by our groups. Cannot recommend highly enough. Rocky is the best host.

My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time. We were impressed with the owner's passion for his food. We chose from the specials menu which the owner explained clearly. The food was excellent, the service was first class and all staff very friendly.

I phoned to make a late reservation and told the staff member that we were celebrating a birthday today. On our arrival, we had a booth with a celebration banner, a complimentary milkshake for the birthday boy, and a birthday cake! The service was amazing from start to finish and we were all made to feel very special, particularly the birthday boy. The food was lovely and great value for money. Thank you so much to the team at Annayas for making our evening so special at such short notice.

Worst experience and wait I have ever had for any takeaway EVER. After calling 3 times, being lied to twice, and our order missing items that should have been included, I can honestly say I will never be ordering from here or using this business again. Considering we waited 3 hours from placing the order, the quality was also incredibly poor (even though we were told it would 100% be fresh - it definitely was not) Stop giving excuses and take accountability for mistakes.

Been going to Annay's for many years and it is by far the best in the area. Food delicious, staff terrific and all topped up with a big helping of Rocky the manager to guide you through the various tastes and textures of Indian cuisine. It's a must visit. Very highly recommended.

For the first time dissapointed with takeaway. Usually very good and always go there for Indian food but this time the chicken was on a par with other average Indian restaurants that I always avoid. Dry chicken lumps some of which went in the bin, not the usual succulent tender chicken which is the reason I go there. Chapati's recently are burnt. Standards slipping and it is a sure way to lose customers. I am considering not going back as that food was no better than bog standard Indian restaurants.

Were to start wth this one ......we arrived at 5.10...hadnt booked a table so were chancing it.on arrival told that there wasnt a table availabe so were happy to leave ..but was then told that a party was late and if we were happy to wait till half past if they hadnt showed up we could have the table...so we waited and at half past were sat a table and given the menus ...just as we were about to order drinks the party of 3 arrived ...at which we were asked to leave and give up the table ....we did this quietly and left the restaraunt without a fuss ...but never have I experienced such poor customer relations as this and cannot advice anyone to set foot in this restaraunt unless they have a prior booking and arrive on time

Brilliant, couldn’t fault it. It had been a while since I’ve eaten here, my own stupid fault. You forget how good it actually is. The restaurant is spotlessly clean, warm, bright and welcoming. The staff are still great, Rocky deserves a special mention, still passionate about the food, extremely knowledgeable and willing to spend time with you explaining the menu. My wife is vegetarian and he couldn’t have been more helpful. The menu has something for everyone, the specials board has some absolute star eats on it. The food came as quickly as you would want it to, and looked amazing, tasted even better, three of us said exactly that. It’s not cheap, but it’s not expensive at all for what get, top, top quality Indian food that has fabulous flavours and you can see is cooked with care, brilliant staff, in a fantastic environment.

What a fabulous Saturday night experience from beginning to end. Rocky the manager took his time to explain the specials menu to our party of seven, with great passion which gave the food a context. Despite a fully booked restaurant, we felt like VIP’s due to his attentive customer service. He was ably assisted by Trent our waiter who was also helpful, engaging and very pleasant. The food did not disappoint - it was amazing. Every single dish was delicious and plentiful. Amongst our party, we all agreed one of, if not the best Indian/Pakistani cuisine experienced. Difficult to express how much I enjoyed this visit. Rocky the manager always has a big welcome and his knowledge of the dishes on offer is invaluable. His recommendations are always spot on and the standard of food on offer is second to none. On this occasion the Punjabi Chilli Chicken was truly outstanding and I recommend it to anyone. In Helensburgh for the day with a friend from Australia and I’d looked up restaurants in advance. The Annaya didn’t disappoint in terms of the reviews and awards they currently have. Great front of house staff who clearly love being in the food industry. The food was absolutely amazing and beautifully set out. My friend I both had one of the (many) specials. They were both great and, in fact I recommended mine to another diner. Portion sizes were more than ample and in fact I’ve just had the residue of mine for lunch! Everything was cooked beautifully and breads etc were all fresh. If you’re thinking on going, my advice is book in advance as we were there on a Monday night and it was almost full by the time we left at around 7.30! Highly recommended. I’ll be back!

A fantastic restaurant with friendly staff and amazing food. My Wife and I had a night in Helensburgh and assumed that finding vegan options would be easy... Wrong! We searched the Happy Cow app, and walked to a few listed restaurants and asked about the vegan choices. None of the restaurants that we visited made us feel confident. We returned to our hotel and continued to search the app. When Annaya's came up, I was skeptical that they would have anything either, but I gave them a call anyway. When I spoke to the person on the phone and asked whether they had any vegan options, he assured me that they had some of the best vegan options in Scotland. A bold claim to make, though I was still not convinced. However, we decided to book and take a chance. The restaurant is well situated, just a short walk from the sea front, and is easy to find. When we arrived, we were greeted by "Rocky" - the person to whom we had spoken on the phone. He was very friendly and chatty, and showed us to our table. He talked over the menu with us, pointing out the items on the menu which were vegan. The options were surprising because quite a few of the options which he advised were suitable, are not at other Indian restaurants that we visit. We opted for the vegetable samosa to start. Expecting the usual two or three frozen filo-wrapped parcels, Rocky advised that their's are served on a bed of slightly spicked chickpeas. He said no more than that. When it came out, there was just one samosa but it was much bigger than the one's that I am used to, and it wasn't made with filo either. We learned that the samosas are made from scratch on site. My Wife and I agreed that it was the tastiest samosa that we had ever eaten, and the spiced chickpeas set it off really nicely. For our mains, I ordered the vegetable pardesi ("a delicious dish created with succulent spinach & rich sauce, shallow fried onions & mushrooms simmered in a rich ginger and garlic base.") with some spiced rice, and my Wife opted for the vegetable biryani. At our local restaurant, the biryani is not vegan friendly, so this was an easy choice - we've not had one in over 5 years! Rocky suggested that to make the biryani more interesting, that he could subsitute the normal curry sauce for a dal. It sounded like a great match, so my Wife chose to go with this. We also asked what breads were vegan and were amazed to find out that the naans too are made freshly on site, and are suitable. Again, this is dead unusual. We've only ever managed to find vegan friendly naans pre-packaged in the supermarket. The main courses were bought to the table, and the first thing that I found interesting is that the biryani is steamed in a pot with a bread on top. The bread was cracked open and peeled back, and the aroma that came from it was outstanding. The meals were also surprisingly large compared to other places. Of course, when the meals came out, we both coveted each others, so decided to share. I honestly couldn't say that one was better than the other. They were both fragrant and extremely delicious. The dal that was presented with the biryani was a top choice. It was slightly salty and thicker than what I would expect a normal curry sauce to be. This texture and saltiness really worked well with the biryani. As for the pardesi, that was indeed rich and very tasty. The mushrooms and onions provided lovely textures against the spinach and garlicky sauce. I must admit that we both were beaten by size of the dishes, and if it wasn't for the fact that we were going to be away from home for another day, I would have happily taken the rest to go. The prices were spot on, and the food was simply amazing - I couldn't fault it if I tried. I would (will) happily detour through Helensburgh again just to visit Annaya's.

Absolutely superb. Delicious food and the manager took the time to describe the specials on the board and make recommendations based on how spicy we liked our curries. Wished they could deliver to our home but 100 miles is a bit far! Highly recommended.
