We try to visit Annapurna each time we are in London. It is one of our favourite restaurants. Previously, we have enjoyed dishes such as the historically good butter chicken. This time around, it was Lamb Godavari, King Prawn Masaledar and Kathmandu Aloo. All beautifully cooked and presented, without being overwhelmed by the amounts of oil, sugar and salt that can be a feature of lesser restaurants.

Disappointed by meal at Nepalese Restaurant in SW14. Terrible service, stale popadoms, after waiting half an hour for main meal, it arrived tepid. They were busy, Friday night, but clearly we weren’t customers who mattered to them. Won’t be returning there.

Honestly quite the best food I have had in a curry restaurant in South West London for a long time. The food is freshly cooked and just perfect. It is a lovely little place and I shall definitely be going back and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes a curry - it is far superior to most curry restaurants I have ever been to in London. I had just the best Spinach Paneer and wonderful Dahl with the best Naan I think I have ever had. Wonderful crisp and fresh poppadoms with wonderful dips as well. Can't wait to go back.

We found this restaurant through our Taste Card, it was a Wednesday evening and it was not crowded, so we just walked in (it was already 9 pm) asking if they could take us in without calling in advance (the rule to get the Taste Card discount), and after some hesitation they let us do that. The place is not too big but has a welcoming feeling, the waitress was patient in running us through the menu (I was not familiar with the Nepalese cuisine), and we found the food really excellent: we each had an appetizer (Onion Pakora and Paneer Tikka) and a main (Daal Gosth and a vegetable dish), and really enjoyed them. With a large beer, Pulau rice and Papad the bill was £ 26 (after the Taste Card discount). Having recently moved in the neighbourhood, we were happy to discover this place, and we will likely be back.

I have visited Annapurna restaurant with my fiancee on one of Friday evenings. The restaurant was not full, there were some free tables. The administrator was polite, but he offered the smallest possible table for two, where literally just two plates would fit. It was one of the factors, which made a negative impression.

Having heard good things about this restaurant from a friend we thought we'd try this place for a celebratory meal. The interior is a bit tired, having inherited the furnishings from the previous owners (it used to be Mango & Silk) and my chair had lost its cushioning! But the friendly waitress soon put thing right and we sat down to order a couple of Ghurka beers and half-a-dozen poppadums. The chutneys with the poppadums were OK. My starter of hot chunks of lamb in a chilli sauce with a small salad was excellent, and my wife enjoyed her prawn dish. The mains were a bit less tasty. I had what was described as a Nepalese chicken dish of medium heat, but the sauce was too thick and rather bland. It later gave me indigestion later that night, a sure sign to me that too much flour had been used. My wife's dish, another Nepalese specialty of a chicken breast stuffed with prawn (she likes prawns!) was also smothered in a thick sauce and when we compared flavours we found them strangely similar which was rather disappointing. I had expected food which felt a bit fresher and less old-fashioned in presentation. I don't want to give a bad impression of this restaurant as the service was good and the food was well cooked overall. But I think they'll have to put more effort into making the food stand out from the average Indian-style restaurant of old. The meal was average value too with a bill of over £25 a head for something that was only a little better than a takeaway.

We really wanted to like this place and support local restaurants, having recently moved a 5 min drive away.. Unfortunately, after two visits, the experience got worse, not better. The place is presented pleasantly enough. The seats are just weird - you seem to fall into them and the offer no support. Table heights are badly adjusted to seat height. The service: When attended by the manager (maybe the owner?) service is quite good, knowledgeable and attentive. Unfortunately, the second time round they put a young lady who was very new at the front of house. This is not her fault, but the experience was terrible. After the first visit, we asked for the food to be a little spicier, and the lady in question strongly recommended we do not do this. After persisting, she apparently informed the kitchen, but what materialised was the blandest Asian food I have ever tasted. Otherwise, the service was hopeless - again not completely her fault. The food itself is a mixture of "OK" and frankly terrible. It's not always as described which is not good. For example, a paneer starter which was described as marinated in green herbs and spices was nothing of the sort. It wasn't marinated in anything and was presented with a turmeric dressing and little or no seasoning or taste, resulting in a pointless dish unless you want warmed-up paneer. This was actually taken off the bill.Technique isn't one of chef's strong points. Black (Urid) daal was pressure cooked, resulting in an overcooked mess of burst lentils. This type of dish can only be slow cooked. Samosas are filled with nothing but mashed potatoes - absolutely no texture whatsoever. The mixed daal was like glue. Other dishes were not quite adequate, lacking the depth of flavour expected. The naan was weird - they are so full of sugar I though I was eating a very sweet brioche. I suspect people don't notice this while eating with the other food, but this is pretty awful.I can only assume that this place exists because the locals think this quality is acceptable, or that this food is somewhat exotic or adventurous. It isn't. It's well below par and a joke to anyone from the Indian subcontinent. What tips the balance was the Neolithically incompetent service second time round and the inability to get food preference sorted. We did give this place a second chance but it really did fail us even worse than the first time.

This is one of our locals and we have enjoyed eating here since they opened (a while now). They also provide take outs too. Service is great and you'd be wise to ask for recommended dishes. Last night I had a yummy King prawn curry. I asked if it could be quite spicy and settled on 6/10 for heat...just right! ....they make it as hot or mild as you wish! My husband had a hot lamb dish - it was probably 7/10 for heat. Our friend went with the suggested lamb shank. I don't like lamb, but the sauces were delicious! The vegetarian dishes are also delicious. The Nepalese beer is refreshing too! Bon appetite!

I live locally to this restaurant and must have dined here with my girlfriend at least a dozen times. The food isn't just 'good' it's superb. Paratha isn't an easy bread to prepare, but these guys nail it. Rice can often just be 'rice', but not here; try the lemon rice seasoned with curry leaf and a few mustard seeds - amazing. There are too many great dishes to list here, but a few themes that permeate the entire menu are delicacy, balance and attention to detail. I can only speculate that the few negative reviews that appear here for this fine establishment are from jealous local rivals whose offerings don't even come close to this level of excellence.

We have been to Annapurna a few times now, and on my first visit got to meet the owner (I called him 'The Boss'). He's a energetic chap wanting to be sure his guests are happy and enjoying the venue, without being in any way intrusive. One of our party had not been to a Curry restaurant in years (living out of the UK), and we chose Annapurna for his re-introduction. We had the Ghurkali Lamb, Chicken Jalfrezi, Butter Chicken and Lamb Dopiaza. All were great, with a made from scratch flavour (not paste). The Mushroom Pilau rice was delicate, light and delicious. We added a vegetable curry (many vegan dishes available, cant recall the name of the one we chose but it was GOOD)! The nans are fresh and not stodgy the way so many good Indian style restaurants seem to deliver. Topped the meal with a Cobra or two and all of us had a deliciously good time. Highly recommend Annapurna...

We found the environment very congenial, the staff pleasant, the food average, and the service very slow.We were there on a typical midweek evening, but it was ten minutes before we were able to order a drink. There was a 35-minute break between the clearing-away of our starters, and the arrival of the main course. Used to be the best Nepalese place locally, possibly still is but it really depends on what night you go and who serves you. Ordering a takeaway here is a stressful experience, depending on who picks up the phone. If they could sort out the management structure so that customers are listened to and served promptly, that would be a positive boon. The food is generally of very good standard, and quite authentic. You are better off ordering from the house specials, or well established Nepalese dishes such as Ghurkhali or Sherpa Lamb. The staff are very polite, attentive and friendly. The restaurant is let down by a lack of coherent systems. It's all a little bit too chaotic. But somehow, it works eventually. Unfortunately, this chaotic aspect is bad enough to put me off ordering by phone again, after having had a few confusing conversations. Eating in is still a pleasant and enjoyable affair.

We ordered four starters & we only ended up getting two which is unacceptable when we asked where is the rest of the starters we were told it was coming but 20 minutes went past and it still didn't make our table! We decided to let it go and waited for the main meal. We had to wait another 30 minutes for it and when it arrived the tandoori chicken we had ordered was totally raw & I couldn't even eat it, also we ordered a chicken dhansak but got a chicken jhalfrezi :/ We were tired of it and asked for the bill, only to see they have charged us for the starters that we did not have & the raw tandoori chicken. We asked again and wanted to clarify that we did not receive it and we got a reply saying ' you ate it you get charged '. We got fed up paid and left. The chef obviously doesn't know the different in the dishes that he is cooking and giving out half the food or raw food. I am absolutely appalled as the 'manager' had a look on her face everytime we said something to her as if we have insulted her. It was my first and last time going there and I will definitely not be going back and will spread the word to people as well.

We have ordered delivery from here twice before and been happy, however this experience was very poor. We were warned the food may take an hour to arrive because it was Saturday and Rugby was on at Twickenham. That is absolutely fine. But the driver had got lost and we had to give directions. Overall the food took one hour and twenty minutes to arrive (again, not a problem). When we plated it the food was cold. We reheated some of it and called the restaurant. They blamed the rugby but the match was on and the driver who had delivered it answered the phone so the traffic was clearly not that bad. They were apologetic but nothing else. So we ate OK reheated curry that was pretty poor. Furthermore, the Bombay potatoes were large and barely cooked (regardless of heat). I would be embarrassed to serve those to anyone. Final point, pretty small portions, although we could not eat all of it because it was under cooked or cold!Overall, unfortunately we will not order from them again. It was not cheap and so we just spent a considerable amount on a barely edible dinner and despite an apology I can't see any reason to gamble again with them.

Have been coming here most weeks since it took over from a previous good restaurant with my friends for an after "Squash" curry. The service is friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is never empty. The menu features Nepalese dishes which to be honest are not much different to Indian food. The dishes are well spiced and marinaded. Not of the meat/fish with curry sauce which is favoured by so many other restauarants in the area, hence the pricing is slightly higher. You pay for what you get! Good Ghurka Beer which happens to be brewed in the UK and which have never seen in my travels to Nepal!!! Obviously, clever marketing from the beer maker. If you are in the area give this restaurant a try, at around £25 per person with a beer.

As a vanquisher of vindaloos and even a phaal eating phenomenon I have spent years searching for the spiciest curries around. I have even at one point crossed the Atlantic Ocean to beat the phaal challenge at the brick lane curry house off of man v food, and none of these compare to the mind boggling heat of the lamb ghurkhali I had here. Seriously, they could make eating that into a contest. Oh and the beer isn't bad either

I have not gone 5 stars here as i felt the portions were not quite enough but adequate for most i guess. Service was ok but the food quality and flavours excellent. Not as different to indian as most nepalese i have been to but certainly cooking is home style, very fresh ingredients and done with pride. Prices good also and very reasonable for london boroughs

Smart neighbourhoods want good local services - a great pub, good traditional butchers, a Waitrose (!) and a good curry house. Annapurna has been a welcome addition. I won't go into detail about the individual dishes because real foodie reviewers on here will do it much better than I can but this is a Nepalese restaurant that you'd be proud to take your friends to in a "We've got a great local curry house just down the road" kind of way. Enough said.

I have been here three times with family and it is always a great meal. I can really recommend Annapurna. They use rape seed oil and fresh herbs in all of their dishes, so it is so tasty. The food is light with no butter and the servings are just right, I find. You feel like you've eaten a delicious and health meal afterwards.

Wonderful food and service, right down to the very fizzy and cold Coke on ice with a slice. Shashlik Paneer is one of the best dishes I've ever had!!

This place has become a regular haunt for us. The food is always of the highest quality, unlike other curry houses in the area where it can fluctuate greatly. We love their chicken and lamb dishes - sublime spices without being too overwhelming. The staff are always very friendly and helpful too, making any visit a relaxing and enjoyable one. Generally we go there as a couple but took my book club there and they loved it too. Best place by miles in Sheen!

"Nepalese curry house - interior is nothing special but the curries are fresh and service, after a dodgy start, is now quick and attentive. We went on a Saturday and were surprised to find it completely full so lucky we had booked. I'm glad it seems to be successful."

I can heartily recommend the lamb shank and the way they do garlic naan is just the way I like it. There was good advice from the staff and the chef even gave me extra sauce to add to the experience. Very nice meal.

Lovely menu, lots of Nepalese specialities and classics too. The minced lamb in pastry for starter was almost like dim sum and the onion pakora were the best bhaji like thing I've tasted. We had some really hot mains from the 'hot' selection in the menu and they were excellent. Atmosphere was nice, slightly quieter than the previous incarnation, Mango & Silk.

_Loved_ this place. Super friendly staff and service, very helpful on educating between Nepalese vs. Indian, spices and so on. Fantastic food - Peshwari bread was the best we've had. Wish we weren't across the pond as it was one of the top 10 dining experiences we've had in the past year.

I think this restaurant it's a bit overrated. Good for all but nothing special. You'll enjoy here a friendly service and good quality of dishes but I don't believe I can give it an higher rate!

Incredibly tasty food and probably one of the best curries I had in London. Very good and quick service. Since I told them that I was not a fan of extremely spicy food, they said they would make the dish much milder for me and offered to replace it if I still found it too spicy. It wasn't necessary though. My Lamb Pasanda was just perfect. A place I will surely go back to.

Ate here with family on Saturday night. We didn't book but they squeezed us in. Genuine feel to the place, Pleasant friendly staff who explained the menu to us. Go for the Nepalese Ghurka beer - similar to Cobra. They do what we would consider to be Indian dishes but also genuine Nepalese dishes. I went Nepalese and really enjoyed them, tasty and flavoursome but not hot enough for me even though I asked for hot.Definitely recommend this restaurant.

We turned up having mistakingly booked at their other branch but they managed to find us a table without fuss. The food was probably the best Asian food we have tasted for a long time and the Nepalese specialities were very, very good. Can thoroughly recommend their Nepalese Special Dhal. The service was impeccable, friendly without overdoing it and we are definitely returning there again on our next visit to East Sheen.

I was looking forward to trying nepalese cusine again as I had one of the best ever meals in Nepalese restaurant in chelmsford, This was good and certainly worth a visit because of the friendly efficent service.Yeah very good food and probably the best ever peshwari bread we have tasted, All the food was hot, tasty and fresh but some there were some overall minor issues which tainted the whole experience.Phone to book, don't rely on the email booking system (tried 3 times with no reply)Waited for 30mins for a taxi they claimed they had ordered...never mind as I say only minor issues.Yes try this place....even if it's only for the peshwari bread

We used to be regulars at Mango and Silk and decided to 'risk' a delivery. The food didn't disappoint. Very tasty and fresh and just 35 minutes between ordering and delivery. We had the Tikka Set Meal which included a delicious veggie samosa and we'll definitely be visiting in person soon. The standard of Mango and Silk has been retained. Thank you.

I have been a frequent customer of the sister restaurant in Whitton and was invited by the owner to come to his new restaurant and bring a group of his other Whitton regulars. I booked a table for six that turned out to be nine in the end. The owner was very understanding and managed to accommodate us all on a quite busy night. The food, wine and service was of outstanding quality and matches that of the Whitton restaurant. We all agreed that we would return to this restaurant very soon.

My expectations for local restaurants are always low having been disappointed on numerous occasions. I must say this place was a pleasant surprise. One of the best meals I have had for a while at a great price in London. Beautifully cooked curries with lots of spices. Check out the menu for a great variety of dishes to suit everyone including vegetarians. We concentrated on the chefs specials and Nepalese dishes which were very tasty. Thank you to the chef for a great meal. The service was also great which is so refreshing given the poor service in many other places in the area. We will definitely be backThe best place to eat in the East Sheen and Mortlake area by far.

Being a frequent diner at the other, "sister", Annapurna restaurant in Whitton, I had high expectations. I was not disappointed. We had booked a table for 6 but due to a friend's oversight, 9 of us arrived. Despite the restaurant being busy, every effort was made to accomodate us and the service, food and wine was excellent as was the decor and ambience. My fellow diners and I agreed to revisit, soon. A real treat.

We decided to visit Annapurna last night for a quiet wedding anniversary celebration. Although the restaurant was quiet, it was the Monday between Christmas and new Year, we had an excellent dining experience and the atmosphere was welcoming and warm. The restaurant opened about 3 months ago, in place of the old Mango & Silk and has undergone some remodelling and redecoration. The atmosphere was quietly elegant and attractive, the service excellent and the food was amazing. We had Jhinga Sublime and Lamb Samosa Chat to begin. Both these dishes were amazing. The prawns were presented in a delicious sauce and the lamb samosas were beautifully crispy, chock full of lamb and presented with chick peas in a spicy sauce. Lamb Rogan Gosht and chicken in a Marsala sauce were both excellent as a main course with pilau rice, aloo go I and the fluffiness and crispest nan I've ever tasted, Throughout the service was attentive, friendly and considerate. At the end of the meal we felt pleasantly full but not over stuffed as you sometimes feel after eating a meal like this. We loved the richness, yet lightness of the sauces - not greasy at all. We will definitely be returning here. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would certainly recommend this as either somewhere for a special occasion or equally as somewhere for a normal evening meal(the prices are very reasonable)! Thank you Annapurna, we had a lovely time.

Excellent food and service - the food was surprisingly good throughout, and still very reasonable value. I like fiercely hot food and always request extra chilli, and the Chicken Madras was properly spiced up without ruining the flavour. One of the best curries we've had for a long time - will definitely be back. I was in two minds about even writing a review because if they keep cooking this well, its going to be hard to get a table in the future!

After a very cold and wet walk around Kew Gardens yesterday morning I was looking for a meal to warm myself up and I found the perfect place here less than 10 minutes walk away from the Victoria Gate and very close to Kew Gardens station. The menu is extensive and the prawn puri starter chosen was delicious with a spicy kick to it and for the main course I had the chicken signature dish, thoroughly recommended. The portions were very generous and there was certainly no need for me to eat again that day. Service was very attentive with a smile from a wonderful waitress. This was my first visit of I'm sure many more to come in order to work my way through all the many dishes on offer.

We have just returned from our Valentine's day dinner and we had a lovely time! They serve delicious freshly cooked Thai food. We had Seafood Pad Cha and Pad Kee Mao with some coconut rise and lemongrass tea.Their traditional Thai decor combined with ambient lighting, candles and relaxing music created a cosy atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and the added touch of a red rose, which I received as a gift, just made the evening! This was our second visit and we will be definitely back for more!Anya and Karol

My last review for this place was far from positive, however, this place in my eyes has redeemed itself. Ordered last week, the massamun curry was so yummy I wanted more! The king Prawn Pad Thai was great too, Only thing I'd say the portions are small and it is expensive.
