The Anglers Rest never disappoints. The buttered chicken curry is a new addition to the menu and was delicious. Can’t find fault with anything.

Rating mainly on food which I wouldn’t come back for. Bar seems lovely but we ate in the restaurant which was dead. Food was reheated which made it horrible and dry (Turkey and ham had hard chewy edges top slices where inedible and cocktail sausages where the same reheated dry and chewy). Soup was tasteless with hard wheaten bread, prawns where good quality but poisoned in salt with very little chilli flakes (but salad that came with was nice and fresh). Mince pie cheesecake was lovely but I would not never touch the creme brûlée again.

A group of 14 of us were in the restaurant last night . We had the Christmas menu . The food was delicious . The staff were very friendly and attentive. Constantly checking if there was anything else we needed . All of our group were totally satisfied with everything . It was the tastiest meal I have had in a restaurant in a long time and will definitely be back ,

We were just passing and stopped for an early Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was also very good value for money so highly recommended! A great find!

We have been here lots of times over the years. The place changed management, again, and we have been a couple of times since. We are now out of caravan season so the place was quiet. And freezing cold. No fires lit and no heating. A gorgeous big stove and an open fire and none lit. I had the lamb hock, it was very large! With garlic fries, all pretty average. My friend had cod and chips and said the cod was lovely and fresh. Toilets are awful, avoid them if you can. This should be a priority refurbishment. No ambience in the place, no music on a Friday night. I hope they do well, fingers crossed.

Web page said it was open until 10PM on Sundays. Arrived at 7:50PM, no one was at the bar and when called out to, no one responded to us for 10 minutes. Once a member of staff had finally noticed us we were told the place was closed, yet the door was propped open and the webpage said it was open for another 2 hours. Wouldn't recommended coming here, no apology for the inconvenience either.

Unfortunately our first meal on holiday very poor food, budget quality shocked at standard!! Lot of food left on people’s plates all around us no ambience at all. Young inexperienced staff polite doing the best they can. Pub food/ restaurant food has moved on from this. Pictures above are not a true representation. Feel like I let my family down after choosing it very disappointing. Would not recommend

Sadly one of the worst Dinners we have ever experienced. The Bar staff hadn't a clue and I do acknowledge that in the summer there are students doing temporary work for some savings. I asked the waitress 3 x times if they had non alcoholic beer Only o the third time did she check and came back saying no . Then a different chap came over for the food order and he said they had two types of non alcoholic beer. The young waitress was wen out of her depth and just needs trained up. We were seated I the back bar area . The front area was were we used to get seated but it is closed off for some reason. We ordered our main courses and thay was breaded chicken for my wife and salmon for myself. What came out of the kitchen was an absolute.disgrace. My wife couldn't even cut through the breaded chicken as they were more.like frozen old Frisbees. A tiny pot of coleslaw came out with the two tiny chicken pieces. The portions would barely have filled a tooth !!! My Salmon was a joke as well. The portion was tiny and the rice was congealed old and hard and cold . It was a portion size the size of two ping pong balls with 3 x slices of yukky looking pepper. There was no way we could eat either and we are regular clie to pre covid. I believe there are new owners or new management and my oh my does it show in a very negative way. The place is a shadow of its former self. A chap beside us had a similar e penitence and complained. I was told the Head Chef was off that day but that being the case surely the second I command can serve a basic level of edible food .... mmmn ... no ! Ps... We went a few.mole.away to the Point Bar and had the most amazing experience and 5 star food.

Absolutely brilliant meal.. Midhun front of house was the nicest person. Very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Apart from the amazing food I will be returning because of him. We'll done in making us very welcome

We where sitting in the caravan eater tues, miserable weather, wind, cold and rain. Decided we would brave it and head down to anglers for a few drinks and few game of pool with the kids. The bar was really quiet and the time came where we where the only customers left at 8:30pm and I’m sure the staff could have had an early night but they checked on us , got us another drink and let the kids have another r game of pool, this is normal behaviour to be fair as we have been going here since it reopened and never had reason to complain. First class bar , food and staff

Excellent place for lunch after coming off beach. Ten out of ten for choices, service and price. My son requires gluten free options and to be told the items on the menu that are not gluten free is a very welcome change.

Been here a few times with family, both times we happened to be close to the end of their food service but this was no issue at all for them! Staff and welcoming, brilliant and good crack, food is 10/10 and prices probably the best you’ll see especially considering how things are now. Do yourself a favour and try here!

This has got to be the best value for money anywhere. Food quality right up there alway hot and serious portions. Friendly happy staff no matter how much pressure they are under and by Jove they were under pressure yesterday.The place was rammed, as it should be. Well done guys .

Had delicious meal here - daube of beef and my partner had beef and mushroom pie. Couldn’t fault it. Staff very welcoming and efficient. Only reason not getting five stars is because it could do with a spruce up.

Myself and my two daughters had a beautiful meal on Friday night (18 November 2022). Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious - great atmosphere for out of season. Would definitely reccommend.

This is a fantastic venue for food. Delicious and reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly and efficient.

Came here with family after hearing lots of good feedback about this place. Waited about 15/20mins on drinks order, waited the same time on the drinks. We end up going to the bar and asked for them again. We were seating beside a grubby table beside the dirtiest well I ever saw. Starters came and they were okay, main courses came and they were awful, after 2/3 mouth fills I felt like I had to boke. Ordered another drink which never came. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all, staff were more interested in hanging around behind the bar chatting then serving customers.

Good enough food but £4.50 for a glass of coke. I'll know for again but very sneaky considering two drink were the price of one of the meals.

Had Scampi, was clearly sitting a long time so was chewy and not very pleasant. Arrived at 8.45 so last orders may have been to blame, however, if it isn't fit to serve, don't serve it. Disappointed, but will try again as the staff are pleasant and the ambience is good. One last chance Anglers!

Came here to get some fresh native Oysters as the pictures on here suggest, only to find out that they "dont do that anymore", well ok thats fine. Ordered some small Food that was good. Water served was tap, so it tasted like chlorine. Nope! The Mojito was served in a glass that reminded me of a shotglass and if that wasn't enough it tasted like water with a hint of mint and wodka. No lime. No Sugar.

I ordered the pasta , it was not nice at all , no taste of the crispy sage , and just over powered by onion I seen no ricotta at all ,the burger was good and the soup was lovely, child's fish n chip was pittyful tbh and the fish itself was absolutely soaked in oil ,I'm surprised as being in this location you would imagine no place could go wrong with the fish and batter . At least we tried it .

Childrens menu for 5 year old ordered. Brought adult meal by mistake and then just took some off it and served as child. Too spicy. Adult food good

Passing through the area whilst on holiday and I’m upset this isn’t my local back home. This is outstanding place - food was immense; had the most friendly atmosphere of any pub I’ve been in; Callum on the bar was excellent; Guinness was delicious; even had a friendly chat with the chef after the meal. Couldn’t recommend enough.

We have been going to this pub for years staying in the carvan park.2 /3 times a year bring my 2 kids wife and 2 well behaved labs having a dinner or lunch then a few drinks ! It was one of my favourite pubs...

We were holidaying in Coleraine, and had intebnded to visit Point Bar (Magilligan), but it was not open on a Monday. So called in here instead. Fantastic food and service, so good in fact we came back a second time later in the week

We went to the Anglers Rest for a family dinner to celebrate a special birthday! We had pre booked for 27 adults and 4 children at 7pm. When we arrived no staff were wearing masks and no covid awareness throughout the rest of the evening....

What a lovely surprise! Came for a quick drink but ended up staying for a light lunch (starters only as we already had plans for supper). A warm welcome, attentive service and food was grand - thank you!

An oldie worldie experience here lovely surroundings fabulous food of a well set out menu. Staff very friendly and a warm atmosphere. I can imagine come winter time with the wind and chill outside the lovely roaring fire inside and tastey treats it would be hard to leave.ps Guinness is great too.

We always like to pay here a visit when we are back home visiting family. The food is always really tasty and I especially love the chowder. Staff are always friendly and the place never seems to empty which is a great sign.

I visited the anglers rest on Sunday 12 th September and was very disappointed that none of the staff were wearing any face coverings when moving around the inside space. I approached the manager and he told me face coverings are not mandatory when moving around inside from the rule change on Friday evening 10/09/21. I pointed out this was NOT the case face coverings are still mandatory whilst moving around inside public spaces but he dismissed this saying he couldn't ask his staff to were them for long time s as uncomfortable!!!!!! Our valuable NHS needs protection Winter is coming

Seated at the bar until ready and the food is really good if a little pricy. Lots of seafood dishes being an anglers rest.Warm, inviting and very close to Benone . Focused on dining rather than a couple of pints ambience, likely due to covid and profit margins. Still, a lovely, quintessential oasis on any day.👍😁

Okay, I'm a foodie. I have been disappointed in many places lately and, to be honest, I was just just expecting average pub-grub fare when I stayed in the area. Wow, was I wrong? Excellent, polite staff. Clearly well trained. The food was top drawer....

If you like mediocre food at inflated prices, very slow service and the decor of an early 90s Irish theme pub, then this is definitely the place for you! If, like most people, you're not really into that, then stay well clear. Parking is very limited, the staff are nice but the food is, at best, average and expensive for what is essentially slightly glammed up diner food. The absolute worst thing though, is the ridiculously outdated and tacky decor. This place would still look outdated if it fell through a time portal and re-emerged in 1996. Even the "gaelic style" signage looks cheap, old fashioned and reminds you of a ridiculously stereotypical Holywood film (made in 1958) about someone, probably played by John Wayne, trying to steal gold from "the wee folk". I actually thought places like this no longer existed in Northern Ireland. Honestly - just drive on past this place, which I now refer to as 'the restaurant that time forgot'.

Cosy restaurant. Food was nothing special. Steak pie was over cooked. Risotto still had quite a bit of liquid. Spicy chicken wings were so hot we couldn’t eat them. Squid was delicious though. The waiting staff were pleasant and helpful. Manager didn’t wear a face covering and was unpleasant and uninterested in customers. Wouldn’t go back.

Wouldn't be keen on the pints, food ok.

From the moment we walked into this place, I loved it. The atmosphere, ambience, decor...just fab. I was with my other half, another couple and 5 kids. When ordering our first drink, we didn't realize we were overcharged until the next drink. The manager was called and the mistake immediately rectified with apologies. Staff members were all absolutely fantastic...one young man needs a special mention... Harry! Born with the gift of the gab, his easy way with the public all ages and gender was clear to be seen. A very hard working young gent. I'll definitely be back and encourage everyone to give it a visit.

We popped in this evening for dinner, had tried to book but restaurant was full, lovely waitress advised that tables outside were ‘first come first served’ basis. We got one! Food and drinks served by the very friendly and efficient team, food was delicious. Will definitely be back and we highly recommend this lovely pub restaurant.

Having recently re-opened I was quite happy to give this restaurant a try on my way home from Downhill beach. Although the menu has been stripped down there's still enough to tempt your taste buds.

Highly recommend the Anglers rest if ur out and about in this area. Food is outstanding, staff are top class and I would recommend you book before hand. I recommend the chicken and chorizo pie. Never tasted pastry as nice 🍴💖
