On holiday in the area.Had a delicious meal in a lovely pub. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Will visit again

Popped in once again for lunch. Usual warm atmosphere. Friendly, competent staff. Enjoyable food - fish and chips plus two chicken in a basket (all excellent). 2 Pints of beer and 1 pint bitter shandy. Came to £55 for three excluding tip. Nice relaxed vibe. From previous visits we know it to be dog friendly. One of our favourites in the Moss Group of pubs. Never been disappointed.

Was our second time here and once again we have loved everything. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, food really good, perfect location in a quite and nice village with a little shop very close to the hotel . The staff are first class

Great friendly pub with excellent food

Four of us popped in for breakfast after a bike ride. Both the service and food were excellent.

Great Sunday lunch in a cosy setting. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was of a high standard. We ate from the festive menu which had a variety of dishes catering for all. The Moss & Co chain of restaurants are all of an equally high standard and manage to recruit some amazing chefs and staff.

Was pleasantly surprised with the food here. Lovely little local, nicely presented food and my 3 dogs were welcomed here too- would highly recommend

I was lucky enough to have my 60th celebrations here. Everything was absolutely perfect from the super clean comfortable rooms to the delicious food and friendly, efficient lovely staff. Didn’t stay here as we live local. We stopped here whilst out cycling for lunch and it was fabulous. We have the crispy chicken and chips which was delicious especially when sat out in the garden in the sunshine with a cheeky cider too 😊.

Just went for a meal one of the best I have had in a long time. Well cooked food clearly done by someone that wants you to enjoy what you eat. Just cannot fault them 👍

Nice meal and good service although we mentioned the pork tenderloin was a bit dry. Waiter apoligised and said he would pass this feedback onto the chef. One of our party tried to contact the Angel Inn prior to our visit via phone, email and facebook regarding allergy info but didn't receive a response at all unfortunately. Fortunately, they did cater for the requests when ordering our food. All in all, I think we would try somewhere else in future.

Really lovely room, spacious, huge comfortable bed, amazing shower. Brilliant breakfast the next day and very reasonably priced! I'm sure we will be back again to stay when we visit the area again. Would definitely recommend, such a hidden gem.

Excellent food, a really good menu. Nice atmosphere too. Can't give 5 stars purely due to the service, which unfortunately left the evening on a disappointing note. The food came out quickly, but we waited for around 30 minutes for the bill, and sat with our plates for a long time until we finally got the attention of the barman. Also, as payment was taken, there was no 'how was your meal?' which felt like our custom didn't really matter. Such a shame, as it's put us off returning. That said, the food was really wonderful, tasty and well-presented. We struggled to choose between the amazing dishes on offer, and most of what we ordered was delicious.

Meal Review - Once again , the Angel and all the staff provided a great service. The food was excellent, Issac was a very attentive waiter , as were all the staff. I couldn’t fault anything. We’ve been before too with the dog and found everyone is always very welcoming. Running a pub is hard and keeping a committed team is a challenge but Moss & Co must be doing something right.

It was first time we went to this pub for meal. I'll be back... Food was amazing, 10/10. The staff was very professional and friendly, and so atmosphere. I will definetly bring all my friends when they come for visit to Southwold.

Thoroughly enjoyed a works pre Christmas lunch here, great menu choice, food very well presented and delivered. You really must try it.

Great food, lovely atmosphere and welcoming staff. A lovely bunch of locals drink there who don't make you feel like an outsider. My parents stay here when they come up to visit me and love it. Its not really a pub you'd come to with kids - no kids menu but there'll do smaller portions for them. Had my children there for an early evening meal and the staff were very accommodating but a couple of tables moved away from us as clearly didn't want their meal spoilt by excited screechy girls - don't blame them though! Isn't really a family pub, better for couples or friends catching up.

Good food - good service - dog friendly bar area - well worth a short drive out if your staying in Southwold and looking for different lunch options.

Good food with a sensible range of options matched with decent wine. The Adams cask beer is served well and the staff are friendly. There is more of an atmosphere in the bar area than the back restaurant seating area but this has often been down to the effective Covid-19 precautions they have taken, spacing customer groups out well.

Clean and friendly knowledgeable staff. Great food. If a non driver, everything is a bus ride away. Nice church, grab the vicar for a chat, he's lovely.

Beautiful place to stay ... the hotel felt well looked after. Our room had everything we needed and was very clean. Food was excellent. ALL of the staff were friendly, helpful and thoughtful, nothing was too much trouble and we felt very welcome. Good location to explore the area.

During the moment the burger and chips were excellent, however I am 99% sure the coleslaw gave me food poisoning.

What a lovely place to eat! The food was excellent - I had the miso glazed aubergine which was really delicious, I would definitely recommend it. The staff were so friendly as well.

Had a lovely evening at The Angel Inn. The staff were very friendly and attentive from the beginning- we felt very looked after. The food itself was delicious in particular the dark chocolate fondant dessert. Warm and welcoming interior and we will definitely be returning next time we are in the area. Thank you !

Fabulous pub. Top quality food, restaurant quality, not just pub grub. Very helpful staff, beautiful historic building.

What a nice pub! Staff were excellent with perfect service and there was a nice range of beers on tap. Food was superb... an excellent seabass with sapphire main and an awesome desert capped off a great lunch. Recommended and I would like to visit again soon!

Another lovely stay at the Angel, in room 1 with the spa bath. Great size room, really attentive staff, huge english breakfast (you dont need to eat again until the evening!). We also had lovely meal 1st night, with all course really wel presented and wonderful tastes. Cant recommend them more. But please dont book when i want to go.

A big surprise to have such a well cooked and presented meal at such an unpretentious location. Well done to the staff and especially the cook.

Had dinner here with friends as we were staying very close by. The beer and wine selection was very good, the food was superb and the service excellent. The noise level was about right and created a good atmosphere. It's not cheap but probably the best indoor meal we had while in the Southwold area

First time in here after moss & co took over good covid precautions friendly staff with good knowledge of menu lovely meal 5 real ales to choose from 👍

Great tasty local produce served by personable staff

Decided to book the restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday party. We were very disappointed, the service was good, but the food was served tepid, it was probably left on the side and the temperate of the room was cold as well. This was not the case with other eateries we had dined out during the week so there should be no excuses because of covid. Unfortunately we can't recommend this place to eat, such a shame.

Good meal in a well presented pub

Moss & Co run good pubs, whats more to say. The food & beer is good and well priced and consistent with their other venues , a secluded garden at the back gives you the outside option that we prefer and the service is as you would expect from such a well run chain. We will be back at one or other of their pubs shortly!

Would of bin better under different circumstances.... I was delivering food, would of loved to of staid for a pint & a meal. I was driving for accent. I had no issues with the inn just the brakes of the van.......🙄

Good food, great service. We had an enjoyable evening meal at the Angel Inn. COVID-19 protocols all in place. Dog friendly in the bar area only. A tad expensive for a village pub but nice place. Would definitely eat here again.

Very clean, COVID safe. The staff were friendly and the food delicious. The bedroom I had was well appointed and cosy. The whole building has been tastefully decorated. I will definitely be back.

We didn’t stay in the hotel just had lunch We didn’t have a booking yesterday but the team went out of their way to find us a table whilst still abiding by the Covid rules We had the most wonderful lunch served by a fabulous team . They were helpful,informative,friendly and patient . They really went above and beyond to look after us . The food was delicious and plentiful and the wine was great and reasonable priced . I would like to say they the team saved our day as we had been let down at another restaurant earlier that day . And we were very glad we were as we had the best lunch ever . Thank you again .

Average food at this pub. Covid19 precautions adequate, staff pleasant but food could be better. Portions were small and flavour disappointing. Overall disappointing, especially compared to food offering at pubs a short drive away.

Portion sizes were very generous, and the food was delicious. I had the pan fried cod, and he has the chicken and chorizo. Yum! Staff were super polite and friendly and they had cearly made efforts on regards to social distancing so felt really safe for everyone. They were also still applying the monday to wednesday discount which made it VERY reasonably prices. Would highly recommend

We stayed in Wangford for just over a week and went to the Angel many times - every time we were there the staff were lovely and looked after us very well. The food was also great, and the atmosphere as well. Even though the village is quiet the pub is always busy and friendly. We were in Wangford during some Covid restriction changes and the staff adjusted smoothly, and made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. We cannot wait to come back!

Fantastic pub, great food, but even better are the brilliant staff. They looked after us from our first visit to our last, while we stayed in Wangford. Looking forward to seeing them again next time we visit.

Whilst the food was lovely we came as a family and where split over two tables due to COVID guidance but in separate rooms! Not ideal as we should have been told this at time off booking. A waste of an evening.

Excellent food even on a reduced covid menu. Chicken in a bucket is a favourite. Highly recommend!

Reasonable main courses; desserts were disappointing (eg, the banoffee pavlova was 'deconstructed' with a large merangue case, a piece of a banana and some toffee sauce -- not what was expected for £7).

Great food, until my son found a dead fly in the middle of a pot of mushy peas. Manager did not apologise, left it to a supervisor, I expected the manager to come over to see if my son was ok,but she said she felt the supervisor was doing an ok job. Not the way I expected a restaurant to run once a problem had arisen. Will not be returning.

What a nice pub! The food was excellent - my kids devoured the sausage and mash, the fried chicken was so juicy and the fish dish was delicious. The service was very personal and friendly too.

Great breakfasts and evening meals, really friendly staff. Room was pleasant and the shower was particularly great. I didn't sleep great because the duvet was too hot for summer and the pillows were too big, but that's personal.

Went for a pub lunch a few days after they opened post-lockdown. Very friendly staff who were taking all the Covid precautions very seriously including wearing masks. Very good food with generous portions. My only suggestion would be that it might be nice to have a few less chips with the burger and have a bit of salad instead... but I guess people don't come to the pub for a salad!

Great room, tastefully decorated, pub is quiet and ever so welcoming. Spa bath in room is an added treat and staff are friendly and helpful. Free parking is a bonus.This is a five star stay and is highly recommend

The Angel provided a warm welcome, even given the odd post lockdown scenario we are all having to deal with. We enjoyed a meal of home baked focaccia, followed by the classic sausage and mash and butterfly chicken, all of which was well cooked and very tasty. A shared desert of chocolate salted caramel tart with caramelised bananas and baileys ice cream topped off a really decent meal supported by polite, friendly and swift (but not hurried) service.

Staying in a cottage in Wangford to celebrate my sons 18th birthday, had booked the Angel Inn for a meal on the Friday night. On the way it was announced the pubs would close on the Friday night as per Boris’s announcement.Still went to the pub for drinks and the meal, nervous being an outsider in a locals pub especially in the current climate. What I can say is the pub is very nice, staff / customers very friendly and the food is excellent.Would revisit in future and highly recommended.
