Anema e core in Eastbourne

The pizzas here are really some of the best- really hit the spot. Just what we wanted before going to the cinema with a glass of wine and a starter

1st time ventured and very good experience. Had just opened up-very pleasant dining room menu very extensive-chose 2 staple dishes-lasagna & bolognese-both home made. Not long we were duly served and both excellent-plus plates were hot-very good sign. Managed to then find room for tiramisu-again perfect texture. When more time available will go back again-very good find!!

Checked reviews and booked here. Was not disappointed, very nice staff, great food and service. We had a meat starter for 2 which was a perfect size and tasty. Mains, wife had seafood pasta and they made me a calzone…. It’s not in the menu….i told the owner my favourite tastes and he recommended a pizza and the calzoned it for me….. it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Well worth a visit.

This restaurant offer’s consistently good food and service. Warmly greeted by the owner, great choice of food, wine and beer. The food is absolutely delicious, beautiful bolognaise and decent sized pizzas. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in Eastbourne for high quality Italian food. The ladies of our group tonight were presented with a Christmas card and Italian amaretti biscuits! - what a lovely touch!

The food was outstanding, along with the service from the staff and the wine was exceptional. I had the bruchetta to start and the papadelle mushrooms and Italian sausage. The staff even understood my request to wait between starter and main because of an operation I had which limits what I can eat! Nice little restaurant, a stone's throw from the seafront. A must visit for anyone looking for a traditional, well decorated and pleasant Italian restaurant. Thank you 👍

Such an amazing experience at Trattoria Anema e Core! I’d mentioned it was my friend’s birthday when booking and we arrived to a legit birthday card from the team 😱 they also sang her happy birthday and lit a candle in a mini cannoli so she could blow it out. She was incredibly touched and it was so kind of the team. The food was terrific as well - an excellent charcuterie & cheese board to start (the bread was terrific), and we all had pastas for a main: seafood paccheri, pappardelle bolognese, and ravioli. Our waitress was completely delightful. Lovely atmosphere, and the whole experience will be a wonderful memory. Highly recommend!

Wonderful pizza and nice draught lager.

We have been to Anema e Core many times and we go always with pleasure. Every time the experience is extremely delightful. Always great meals and top quality ingredients. We often have a delicious Pizza and for dessert Tiramisu. Absolutely tasty and authentic Italian food. And ,as always, lovely staff.

We went to this fabulous restaurant last Saturday. We always feel at home. The food is authentic Italian and the service is very friendly, traditional Italian style. Thank you guys we hope to see you soon

As my partner already wrote a review, I decided to join her. As an exec. manager of a Michelin star restaurant, I don’t recommend this place. The chef (owner) is greedy and his service is absolutely unacceptable . The food we received was old, possibly reheated in the oven. Pasta and Risotto had no taste and were absolutely blunt. I love italian food but if you respect yourself as a chef you must not send out food like this to the customers. At the end of our visit he (the owner) was aware of the situation as the server told him. I guess he declined to deal with the situation and charged us fully. Also, £10 service that he added to the bill (he probably takes it home). I had a really bad day and only wanted to enjoy some of my favourites but the day ruined completely. I didn’t want to argue so we just left. All I can say, if you really love italian food, there are much better places than this. I would love to get my £68 refund but obviously it’s not possible.

My partner and I visited here, we were very disappointed with the whole experience. My partner manages a Michelin Star restaurant and the service, food and attitude was just completely unacceptable. We left the restaurant upset, and feeling sick. We were a walk in booking over the weekend, the restaurant was completely apart from 1 table when we arrived and we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience by the front of owner/chef, he even refused another walk in when we were sat down, stating they had room for pizza only. There was a lovely young Italian waitress who was trying to serve us but the owner/chef kept taking over and was quite frankly being rude to the staff and us. My partner ordered a Negroni for drinks, and I ordered a non-alcoholic beer. The Negroni tasted diluted and pre-made, which is not what you expect for a restaurant of this standard, particularly when the restaurant is quiet. We got a mixture of starters, the bruchetta, parmigiana balls and meat Arincini. The Bruchetta was burnt and dry just some chargrilled bread with some tomatoes the parmigiana balls were flavourless and overcooked. The arincini was actually okay. For mains I have the Risotto Gamberetie E Zucchine, it was tasteless and watery, reminded me of rice pudding. Plus the prawns had no flavour and the whole meal did not taste right. My partner had the the Paccheri Ai Frutti Di Mare, the pasta did not taste home-made and the seafood was frozen and bland, and the dish was overly fishy and did not taste right. The dish had no flavour and was not edible. We both only had a few bites to eat of each main dish. We were made to feel uncomfortable to say much about the dishes as the owner kept speaking about us whilst we were sat down. My partner asked for the dishes to be packed as we felt really uncomfortable in saying. The nice Italian waitress came to us after the dishes were taken away, she spoke to me discreetly about not liking the meals, I told her it was not nice and I felt uncomfortable saying, she apologised and was really lovely about it. She went and spoke to the owner/chef about us but he responded to her quite angrily then came over to us to take payment, making us feel even more uncomfortable. They also charged a service fee which seemed to be more money than necessary. Honestly the whole experience was just really upsetting and would not recommend at all.

Food very tasty, may be a bit expensive for the rather small portions

We've wanted to visit here for a while but we always have our dog with us which makes it tricky. We visited for lunch and all four of us had a delicious meal, by far the best we've had in Eastbourne. Fresh and tasty authentic Italian cooking and wonderful friendly staff. We can't wait to visit again. Thank you!

Booked a hotel just round the corner. Because we took our dog with us ,we decided on a takeaway pizza. The place had a proper pizza oven, which meant the pizzas were authentic Italian pizzas. The toppings were so tasty, Just what you want on a cold evening. If we go back we will sit in next time. The staff were very helpful, and friendly.

Fantastic home cooked food and lovely service. Would definitely come again. Food was from a traditional recipe and ypu could tell.

First visit - superb, genuine Italian restaurant. Excellent antipasta, enormous pizzas, and tasty bottle of Fiano to wash it all down. We will definitely return!

I don’t even know where to start… Food was honestly one of the best Italian dishes we had!! Restaurant is quite small but 100% worth and definitely worth it!

This is the best Italian I have been lucky enough to visit in a very long time! Everything was stunning and delicious - the lasagna was outstanding and honestly the best I have ever tasted (I stopped mid mouthful). I am already excited to go back soon!

My husband and I happened upon this place for lunch with our 8 year old son and were so pleased to have discovered it! Knowing Italian food v well (used to live there and visit often), Italian restaurants are invariably disappointing in the UK unless you go high end, but this place is an absolute gem with authentic Italian food and drinks. Carbonara is sadly generally made with cream and ham in this country, but a mark of how good this place is, is that it's actually made with eggs and guanciale! I had pizza which gave the ones I had in Naples a run for their money. Great drinks menu with lots of different spritz's - even a trendy Cynar spritz. Looks like any other bog standard Italian place from the outside but don't be fooled.

The one and only issue we had was that the centre of the arancino ball that we had for our starter was slightly below temperature, not cold but not hot. Other then that it was a perfect meal.

Very poor service, I was never spoken in such a way. Was turned down when we went with the kids claiming they were fully booked and didn’t have a table of 5. So turned up alone tonight before 9pm, was told by the waiter that the restaurant is closed. apparently the owner insisted that they were closed and not serving food and shouted that it was his house. it was recommended by one of your friend as we do eat outside and like to try new restaurants. There’re better restaurants in Eastbourne to try Italian food, I would recommend Rostick, pomodorro, simply Italian and Picasso. They’re very friendly with a good food taste. it was very bad experience, avoid this restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend, not friendly atmosphere and poor behaviour.

This restaurant is on the site of a former favourite Italian restaurant and it pales in comparison. This place is pretty expensive. The menu is good with plenty of options. We didn't have a starter so cannot review that. I had swordfish with King prawns....

Lovely food, go for the Pizza which is delicious as the pasta portions are small for the price you pay. Only big issue is that my party and I were told if you’re under 21 you can’t be sold any alcohol unless you’re with an adult! This was disappointing as it was my 18th birthday and their rule was not advertised anywhere on the website or menus, don’t plan on coming here if your 18 and want a drink. Other than that we had a good evening.

Been here loads of times and been amazing .went yesterday and and cant belive how much its gone down hill. Pork starter was dry, mains was horrible and told the staff and didn't care . Think they care more about just eat than being a restaurant which is sad because this was my favourite restaurant

Best pasta I've had outside of Italy (my husband is Italian so we eat there a lot). I had the pumpkin ravioli with sage, my husband had the wild boar Ragu both were amazing. For desserts we has the rum cake and Panna cotta with pistachio again amazing!

Our first time eating here , what a fantastic place , lovely decor , spotlessly clean , lovely people that served and cooked for us , food was fresh and so tasty , we will be back and will be recommending to friends and family .
