Average pub providing average food. It's cheap and cheerful and decent enough to pop in for a few drinks and a catch up with friends but management can be a bit rude to customers.

Following an adventure thanks to incorrect bus information from a bus driver, I finally arrived.Friendly staff here with generous try before you buy. Quiet on the last Sunday in December due to the local football derby.My drink, Pale Rider was slightly below average. Try the Oakham bitter.

My friends and I visited this wetherspoons for a friends leaving night, Had a good laugh until the Tracy (who i assume was the manager) told us that if we didnt have ID we would have to leave by 8pm, okay that was fine but at 8:15 my friend had bought an alcoholic free kopparberg, and at 8:25 Tracey came over to our table and asked for everyones ID, My friend who had purchased the alcohol free drink didnt bring her ID with her, was asked to leave which was fair enough but she wasnt allowed to finish her drink or take it outside and didnt allow any sort of refund as she had only had a tiny bit of it. I just found Traceys attitude really rude and frankly I was disappointed in how it was handled. I also work in hospitality and if i had treated a customer like this, I would no longer have a job. Hope this doesnt happen to anyone else and hope the attitude changes within this establisment.

My friend and I visited for the steak night dinner. We were pleasantly surprised how nice it was. We had visited previously and had been very disappointed, however it seems to have raised the bar a fair bit. The one thing that it seems to lack is getting the tables cleared and cleaned when busy. This could be a lack of staff. The staff were all very nice and helpfull and service was excellent. You cannot beat it on price for food and drinks. Will definatly not leave it as long before I go back.

He ido a desayunar dos veces a la semana durante un año y, a veces, también a almorzar. Siempre tome el desayuno vegetariano y cambie los huevos por bollos de tattie, ya que muchos vegetarianos no comen huevos. Hoy nos dijeron que no podían hacer eso porque tenían algunos clientes de fútbol que no estaban mucho más ocupados de lo habitual. También había otro habitual en el que no podía conseguir su habitual. No volveré si esa es la forma en que trata a sus clientes habituales.

Fue agradable tomar una copa. No muy ocupado aunque mucha gente mirando el Rugby. El personal es muy amable, el único defecto es que los baños están lejos de un tramo de escaleras. Hay un baño para discapacitados que todos parecen usar. Personalmente no me gusta usar un loo que usan los hombres y otros. Los precios en vino y aperitivos fueron excelentes volveremos.

Un cambio de planes resultó en una visita a las cucharadas locales para la cena. Lejos de la zona del bar principal era agradable y tranquilo y ofrece un ambiente relajante. El personal era amable y eficiente. Las mejores papas halloumi de la historia. La primera vez que me han servido estas calientes y frescas de la cocina. Los platos principales que siguieron fueron tan buenos. Gran valor

Visited this pub months ago and was very disappointed. I like craft ale and the 4 they had on offer were all off! Revisited on Saturday. What a difference! Has a half pint of Joker and a large Pinot. Only £4.33! Great value and although the pub was busy did not have to wait too long to get served. Will certainly return. Well done!

Called in for breakfast.....I have NEVER been SERVED anything like it......cold and greasy

My husband and I were in for breakfast and had dinner with our daughter a few weeks ago we enjoyed our meals and had a nice time spoke to one of the cleaners she was very friendly and very welcoming will definitely be back next time we are visiting our daughter we were up from Nottingham and really enjoyed it

Fui allí a desayunar mucho antes de las once y media con mi otra mitad y me pidieron una identificación, esto nunca había sucedido antes en un Wetherspoons cuando ordenaba el desayuno y estábamos sentados en la parte trasera del restaurante. La camarera me quitó la comida mientras todavía la estaba masticando, sentí que ella asumió que porque mi compañero ya había terminado, yo también, pero que mi plato aún tenía comida, esto tampoco había sucedido antes. No me importa mucho que el barman me pida una identificación porque la tenía conmigo, pero solo puedo pensar que si no la tuviera, los asistentes frecuentes a Wetherspoon serían rechazados de pedir el desayuno.

No se trata de comida o servicio, que siempre es excelente. He visitado muchos pubs wetherspoons y encontramos que ellos con una estupenda relación calidad-precio. Sin embargo, quedé decepcionado con este. Pedí una cerveza y me dijo que era hecho. Pedimos otra cerveza y estaba hecho. Finalmente conseguí una cerveza que resultó ser plana. Realmente decepcionado después de haber estado en el John Fairweather en Cambuslang, que era magnífico. No volveré!

This is not about food or service,which is always excellent. They have an O/Head projector and large screen that cannot be viewed on bright days, and now that the World Cup and other events are upon us, Kat( manageress) arranged to have a TV installed. What foresight. Thanks Kat, much appreciated

Normal spoons pub. Location is ideal as bus stops all around for different areas. Good choice of food, with your normal special days, ie steak day, or curry day etc. Always like a spoons because you can get a good choice of ale, ciders, gins etc.

Very good quality food that was piping hot. The portions are very generous so take your appetite. The drinks are also very reasonably priced with a pitcher of cocktails for £5.99 - that gave me 3 glasses. Perfect for a wee day on a budget. Comfortable surroundings too.

We spent bank holiday sunday here, intally for drinks however 3 hours in we decided to order food. We werent disappointed, 2 lots of 3 for £10 plates, a steak, 2 onion rings, chips and ciabatta. The chicken wings and chicken bites are to die for along with the dips they come with. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the atmosphere is decent. I would certainly go again and order food.

Thats all really, wont be going back for that very reason. Couldn't see the menu as lighting so poor, given a table at the back right next to a door that opens all the time as it is access to the smoking area, didn't like being wafted with cigarette smoke every 5 minutes

I recently moved a mile or so from cambuslang to rutherglen, i was really upset at this because i had grown to love my local wetherspoons, the place was just a vibrant part of the local community and the staff both male and female made every visit as great an experience as they possibly could, but imagine my initial delight when i found out that rutherglen the town i was moving to had its very own wetherspoons, i was just over the moon.

Was there yesterday evening with my family, we werent all happy with the food that got served. I ordered a bbq beef burger with chips and onion rings, I asked for fried onions on my burger which did not come with my order. The chips were cold and the burger was not complete. I also ordered a side of cheesy garlic bread which was the worst ever. Out of 6 of us, 3 good and 3 poor. Fish and chips was great as it was fish on a Friday. My sister ordered a steak and didn’t come to order. Service was great, was just the food.

We went to this place to give it a try we arrived at 7:15 found a table and asked for kids menu. Member of staff was good and got us menu. Went to bar to place order at 7:30 was advised that children need to be out for 8.

Visited this bar ith friends for a relaxing afternoon. Good food and wide selection of spirits and nibbles. Good deals on both. Visit,ed on a Sunday afternoon and found it very relaxing atmosphere. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

I used to go here quite often, but the food was getting worse and worse so I decided to stop going. Even though it was relatively cheap, the standard was so poor it just wasn't worth it. Went back a few months ago and the food since then has been outstanding. They must have a new chef/chefs, the improvement is phenomenal and it is again excellent value for money. Only negative, which doesn't really bother me, but if you were there with kids (which people were) isn't great, is the foul language from the bar and kitchen staff. Staff need to realise that on a Sunday morning they are working in a restaurant, not just a pub/bar.

Totally believe you get what you pay for and Wetherspoons is cheap but certainly not cheerful. Staff on duty were rude when I said the order was wrong and disappeared to come back 5 mins later with the same food and a receipt to prove that's what I paid for. That might be true I wouldn't know as I never got a receipt but I'm sure if I ordered a skinny burger I wouldn't have asked for salad instead of chips. This Wetherspoons constantly disappoints in customer service and getting orders wrong maybe I should stop visiting.

Some of the weekend female staff of this establishment should be made to undertake a customer service course as they are some of the rudest people I have ever came across.Female staff are left to talk to patrons in any way they feel they like and some of it is foul mouthed so I won't repeat but it would make a squaddie blush.

This is my local Wetherspoons and is worth visiting if in the Rutherglen area. Has a long and narrow seating area with the bar facilities located in the middle.All meals that I have had have been first class and the service very polite indeed."AS I SAY WORTH A VISIT IF IN THE AREA."

I popped in here on Saturday 29th April with my family for a small snack as we were going to a function along the road. It was my first visit here. After negotiating the smokers clogging the doorway, I wandered through the place wondering if it was a bar or restaurant or both. First impression was reasonable so found a table for me, wife and two children. It was the cleanest of dirty tables so thought it would have to do. I wondered how we ordered food so wandered to the food hatch to be told to go to the bar. Small queue at bar with one person serving. A second member of staff appeared after a few minutes and randomly picked people to serve. I managed to get her attention eventually only to be told "get you in a minute" as she started pouring drinks for some unseen person. I ordered two rolls and sausage, two hot dogs, two coffees and two soft drinks. It cam to just over £16.00 which I thought was a wee bit expensive. I sat down and waited on the meal to arrive and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived very quickly. Perhaps the speed of service was down to an uncooked roll on sausage. There was nobody to take it back to so I ended up going to the serving hat here my self. No apology offered, just a "I'll get you another one" this one was cooked... Just. We finished and wandered out viewing more dirty tables on our way. In summary, not very welcoming, lack of cleanliness, raw food served and looked very understaffed. Won't be back.

Called into Rutherglen for Lunch.(18.04.17 ) First time at the An Ruadh Ghleann. Busy restaurant with friendly and welcoming staff and customers. One daughter had a superb vegan meal. All meals were properly cooked and served promptly. Probably one of the best restaurants in the JD Wetherspoon group.Table was clean and tidy, As with all busy restaurants probably a little on the noisy side when trying to order at the bar but where we were seated a pleasant and happy afternoon. Time to eat and chat. well worth the visit and the best cooking of any similar place recently visited.

Out for lunch with friend decided to go here for lunch as Wetherspoons is normally ok, so went to bar and young girl served me who may I say has no customer service skills what so ever while taking the order she stood twirling her hair so her personal hygiene wis oot the windae to start us off i ordered a beef burger and chicken burger within 5 minutes or burgers had arrived, we were not offered condiments so we asked people in the next table were to get them . My burger was ok but my friends was like shoe leather she tried to cut through the bun this was not possible I then went to the viewing area of kitchen were chef said no problem I will get you another the burger came back very quickly but in the same burger bun I gave him as it had the cut through the middle. So don't think I will be returning it wisnae that braw !!

Took a friend out to lunch today as she's not been well. I wanted just to go somewhere near to where she lived and she suggested An-Ruadh-Ghleann. I was very pleasantly surprised by the interior decor, very modern and bright. We got seated very easily in a nice curved booth seat and was promptly given the menus. I ordered the Quinoa salad with halloumi cheese and was delighted with it's taste and freshness. I had been worried that perhaps it wasn't one of the most popular dishes and the ingredients wouldn't be that fresh but I neededn't have as it was really lovely. Would definitely recommend.

We wanted some breakfast and passed through the main street in Rutherglen. Wetherspoon's normally does the standard stuff so we popped in for a cooked breakfast. First impressions weren't great. The chairs and table we were at were unsteady and felt as though they would collapse at any minute. We ordered two breakfasts with teas. Although the breakfasts were cheap I have to say the food was a real let down. You could have soled your shoes with the bacon. It was solid and inedible. The fried egg was crispy and the beans had a skin over them as though they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. The only thing that was in any way edible was the potato scone. Even the tea tasted very cheap. All in all this was a wasted visit. Thankfully it wasn't an expensive one.

Enjoyed two visits today. Steak day and a coffee stop. Fast service. Nice clean environment. Busy. Friendly staff and good value food.

Been here many many times, good for meeting up with friends for a drink (if you live in the area). Really good drinks menu with non alcoholic options. Nice enough staff.Kind of similar to Picture House across the road except much cheaper and has brand recognition.Only had food once or twice and was decent enough pub food.

Wetherspoons...love em or loathe em, everyone seems to have an opinion, but for me they offer a lot of upside with food and drink reliably better than regular pub fare at extremely competitive prices. This location is a fine spot on Rutherglen Main Street, refurbishing an old Co-op building into a lovely space. Lots of seating space by the bar or farther back in the dining room, and should the rarity of some Glasgow sunshine occur, there's a spacious patio too. The menu doesn't hold any surprises, although we had a large group and tried a broad selection of items, all of which were enjoyed. Drinks were excellent, in particular the cask ale selection. The only problem we ran into was not realising everything had to be paid as ordered, which meant we all had drinks first, then had to order more since they were included with several of the meals. I suppose if that's our worst complaint, they're doing ok!It's also worth mentioning that the place was immaculate. As we were ready to leave we could see the draught barrels being cleaned with a high pressure washer. Great to see this level of commitment when many pubs have tendencies to cut corners.

Staff was nice and the food is good. The only problem is that a lot of the time when we go there most of the food we want is sold out. We went early in the morning and they ran out of things in the breakfast menu. And I've also been in the after noon and the 5 times I've been there they have ran out of curry. Whoever makes the food orders need to do a better job. The worst time was when I ordered curry but they told me it was sold out. So I ordered lasagna instead to be told that was sold out as well. Ended up going somewhere else that night.

To be honest its like all other Wetherspoons in Glasgow and UK filled with various selections of alcohol at semi reasonable prices thats about it..Real Ales are a must with at least 8 of them on at anytime i've been in all resonable prices. Its kind of bar that a pit stop for a couple of ales its a must but i wouldnt stay a full night..So thats why its gets a 3 rating from me..

Tuesday night steak night mixed grill couldn't finish it to much if your looking for value then this is the place to go and a free pint with it prices are unbelievable this is on my Xmas list to do again

If a good hearty breakfast is your thing, look no further. For quality, quantity and overall value for money this breakfast would be hard to beat, with constant coffee top-ups. Although I have had excellent meals previously, I have only recently started to go for breakfast. Well done folks

Whenever I am back in Rutherglen visiting friends & family this is the place we always chose to visit. We have just been again today for the Tuesday steak offer which is magnificent & includes an alcoholic drink for around £6 odds. As always the place is bright & clean & the staff are always happy to help, keep up the good work.

We visit as a group most Wednesdays and always find the food to be of a high standard. The staff are always upbeat and greet us personally each time we visit. On the rare occasion that we have had an issue with a meal it has been rectified quickly and without question. If you are looking for a good meal at a reasonable price then this is the place to go. The choice of alcoholic drinks is also extensive and reasonably priced. As a regular patron of this and other Wetherspoons i believe that the An Ruadh Ghleann consistently meets the high standards they have been set and compare favourably against some of its competitors. If i had any criticism whatsoever it would be around the staffing levels as it can sometimes take a while to be served even when there isn't a queue but this is an issue with Wetherspoons staffing policy rather than the An Ruadh Ghleann itself. Everyone works hard to ensure your visit is enjoyable.

I used to use this pub a lot when I lived in Rutherglen and always liked the selection of ales they had on tap. The food is good value as well and handy if you can't be bothered cooking a dinner at home after a day's work. Always seems to be clean, decent decor and I always find the staff are friendly and will chat away with customers. All in all, it's a typical spoons and you know what to expect in these pubs and they offer good value. Sometimes can't understand why people slag them off on The Trip advisor as if they have just had a meal at a Michelin star restaurant. Only downside about the pub is the junkies that hang around outside the place and you always notice some of the regular drinkers are barred from all the other pubs in Rutherglen and drink in here (never any hassle though). All in all, good ales and good value and I usually go in for a few pints when I am in the area for a visit.

good pub, prices reasonable but sometimes the food isn't good, as I have said it can be a hit or a miss and the chicken seems to be the worse, in my opinion. compared to other wetherspoons this is the one id rate worse for the food. service good and quick

Visited here many times - most recently with friends on 12 August 2016. Ordered fish, chips and mushy peas which arrived piping hot in 10 minutes. Was really pleased how quick our food was served considering how busy place was on Friday night. The staff behind bar are really friendly too despite being so busy. Great food and drink at very reasonable prices

Went to meet up with friends 2 from America and the other 6 were local, between them must have spent at least £500 in the bar. Towards the end of the night when my friend and I arrived to take the party home, the bar staff became very obnoxious resulting in the visitors getting angry. The waitress behind the bar refused to serve one of them when they went to get my friend and myself a soda water while they finished their drinks. This angered the person and a few words were exchanged. The bar manager then came over and told us to leave, as he wasn't having his staff spoken to in that manner, he continued to man handle one of the visitors, who in turn told him to get his hands off him. As a result of this, the group are now barred. So beware, if you are going to meet anyone in this bar, make sure you only stay for an hour or so, because after that there is a big chance you will be barred too.

Typical Spoons but bad management arrogant no organisation and let all in including drunks in, language and swearing out loud in front of children.Beer normal and good price , food can be indifferent at times but you get what you pay for.

Tonight we went for a family dinner. We cleared our own table as the poor wee guy running around clearing tables looked like he was run off his feet. We ordered food 2 of the 5 adult meals we chose were not available and we had to have alternatives. One of the meals ordered was tandoori skewers served with salad and yoghurt and mint dip. The server checked 3 times it was a curry club meal and not a side portion. When the food came only 1 skewer came on a plate and I had to produce a receipt to show we paid for a meal. When the rest eventually arrived there was no yoghurt and mint dip but I felt that I couldn't say it was wrong again. I must admit we go in often and I'd like to say this is a one off but we never quite seem to get what we order first time.

Asked if baguette could be substituted with soft bread to have with the soup ordered. Very obliging to change this to accommodate people. Soup looked and tasted so nice - Italian Tomato. I also ordered halloumi sweet chilli wrap with the most beautiful side salad.

Had a lovely breakfast here today very cheap refill of coffee none stop 10 mins from Hampden buses available every 10 mins to city centre

Good quiet atmosphere and able to chat easily without disturbance. Pretty good amount of space between tables. Address given as Main St. Ratherglen but parking on side street which is blocked off at Main St end.

Our Burgers were almost completely dried out. I seems as tho they were pre-cooked and kept in a warm oven until needed to be served. couldn't finish and just ate my chips. Very resonable prices for drinks tho. I avoid going weekends as gets a bit rowdy and hate having to push past the many smokers at the front entrance.

None of my experiences in Wetherspoons have been good, but the place is dreadful. The lack of atmosphere (a Wetherspoons trademark is present here) but my last (and I now mean literally was Friday 19/02/16 after 6pm. First encounter a 'Barman' With, to be polite, rather noticable front teeth, dark blonde hair, tattoos of Roses on his arm, and when I asked for a pint of Innes & Gunn lager, was told "the barrels no been changed" and nothing else, like when barrel may be changed or what else would you like in the meantime. He then went back to having childlike shoving & insults of his colleages. While this was happening there wasx 1 more senior member of staff left to tend to customers.Other point is that at the bar, It looks like a McDonalds or Coffee House with beer pumps on the counter. Pictures of coffee beans & Latte, Cappuccino etc on the walls. No need for it all in a pub, and finally the place has bouncers at the door almost every day of the week- What you make of that, you decide.Personally, It thinks a dreadful pub. Other much better pubs nearby

Was told 3 times someone from management would call me back & did not. I waited all day on this call to then receive an email 2 days later ! Not from this establishment but from the weatherspoons informing me of the information i was to be called about.

Been in a few times, always looks clean and tidy and staff always friendly and busy. I was served by Robert(Shift Manager) on my last visit and he was very helpful.

Can't fault this wetherspoon pub! Great atmosphere and value for money. There is an excellent selection of food and drink and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Very impressed!

Since my last visit some staff have changed - but they are still of the same high standard! Having been in similar establishments from the same chain elsewhere the staff here really shine out, a credit to the company and can‘t recommend this place enough. The craft beers are rotated too so that there is always something new for me to try - the same applies if you enjoy a real ale.

The pub has a good atmosphere and is lovely inside, it has great prices and the staff are always happy to help. It is also a good place to catch up with friends. It is a nice place to relax with a coffee or to socialise with a chilled bottle of wine as they have a wide selection. I would highly recommend this to my family and friends as it is good value for your money.

Had a fantastic Scottish breakfast, cured a hangover. Service was great, staff were lovely, defo be back!Special mention to Robert, who took our order, you made our day!

Like most wetherspoons I have visited a very welcoming atmosphere staff are friendly and attentive, very hard working, food was excellent (had the doombar pie) very reasonable prices. The visit was made even more entertaining with a member of management known as Robert as he was very helpful and smiley! Made it feel like home. Definitely be back!

Popped in while visiting a family member who lives locally. Visited with my husband and two young children for lunch. The staff were friendly, courteous and very approachable. Food was good and a good affordable price for a family of four. Got speaking to pub manager Kathleen who was friendly and took time to talk to the kids. Would definitely come back to this pub with the family and also for a quiet drink with my friends or husband. Keep up the good work!

This is the ideal meeting place when heading to an event at Hampden will let all my friends know, as good access for train & buses. Tennents only £2.25 a pint...that's a steal at that price! Will recommend

Offer a great selection of good real ale, I have been a regular customer here since this weatherspoons has open. Robert and Cat and the rest of the team offers the great of service. The food is the great. Highly recommend.

Always pop in here once a month with friends after a show at the Town Hall... The coffee is great value for money & very tasty, as is the carrot cake.
