Food was so delicious! Had the squid ink pasta with king prawns and a pizza. Both perfect. Fast and friendly service, good atmosphere and fair prices. Would recommend and will be back when next in the area.

Came here on a recommendation. It was a fair distance to get to, so thought it better be worth it. The place isn't massive but does have an upstairs. We were seated at a table in the corner, which was next to the kitchen hatch. This wasn't much if an issue but what I didn't like was the waiter (or owner) stood behind me all the time telling the chef's to hurry up with orders and running the kitchen from this side of the restaurant, as I felt I couldn't lean back and relax without getting an elbow to the head. We had a laugh about it, though, and I think he's aware of the issue. The toilets are up two flights of stairs, so I dont know if theres a disabled one as i wouldn't want to give someone a piggy back up there if they were desperate. Anyway, these are the only issues. The food was really good, better than some i regularly go to, and the portions were good too. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The prices are about right and the menu has a big choice which is good. I would recommend going here, but it's a bit far for us to go regularly. Will definitely go again, though. Oh, we went at 5pm and it was pretty busy and was still busy when we left so it looks like a popular place.

Tried this for the first time this evening, 1 bad point I didn't like was the waiters swooping in for plates whilst still eating did not like this at all. Other then that the food was absolutely spot really enjoyed the food!

Had a fantastic meal here yesterday ( Mother’s Day ), very busy but not a problem. We got seated within 5 minutes, the waitress took our drinks order within minutes and our food order when the drinks arrived. My wife and I ordered the Bruschetta Tradizionale to share, our Granddaughter had the gluten free garlic pizza for her main meal, my wife and daughter had the Pollo volcano with salad and I had the Spaghetti Amatriciana. We all said the was very good and mine was probably the best spaghetti I’ve ever eaten. Thank you all.

Absolutely highly recommended! The staff, the food, the ambience- all perfect! I visited for the first time with my two ( boisterous and not easy to please) kids. Staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and food was fantastic!

Have not visited for years and so thought we would come here in our monthly girls night, what a great place, from walking in ALL the staff was very friendly, polite and very attentive. The food was spot on, no long wait for food and when it did arrive was lovely, price was very reasonable would definitely recommend. It’s not very often you see all staff members so attentive and friendly would definitely recommend. 10 out of 10

First and most likely the last time I will be visiting Amico Mio! From reading other reviews it seems like the poor management & overbooking isn’t a new problem, but also one they don’t seem to keen on changing. Tables packed in, to the point we would have had to disturb a full table of 3 to even access the toilet. Very loud music so we were shouting at each other. Took half an hour to even take a food or drinks order, we only ordered mains & were being told we had to leave our table after an hour & a half so we wouldn’t have had time to have starters or desserts according to their system. Difficult to complain & ask to stay when you can visibly see the squashed in people at the entrance waiting for a table. Food was nice but very difficult to see past poor service & management as it really ruined our experience.

Food average, service good, unfortunately packed in like sardines, no space between tables, extremely hard to have any kind of conversation due to noise levels, definitely not the place to go for a romantic meal.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while staying nearby. What a find! Cannot recommend this place highly enough…superb food, superb service and a wonderful atmosphere! Will definitely come here again if in the area.

**Terrible experience overall** We booked a table for 6:30 last night, we arrived on time but the table wasn’t ready. We waited in the cramped doorway with 2 other couples who had also booked but their table wasn’t ready. After waiting 10 min we asked if we could be seated upstairs as the tables downstairs were that squashed together, we was happy to be seated upstairs with a little more room to move. We had a garlic bread starter which was very greasy & undercooked. My wife ordered a chicken dish & I ordered the bolognese. Probably the worst bolognese I’ve ever had, the chicken dish came with thick cut chips,they was undercooked. As soon as we left the restaurant I needed the toilet. We had plans last night but I had to drive home to use the toilet, I’ve been on the toilet all through the night, it’s 10.17 on Sunday morning & I’m still having to go to the toilet. I don’t normally leave reviews but on this occasion I've had to create an account & leave one. I’ve had better bolognese in turkey all inclusive hotels….shocking!!

A very busy Saturday night with the hustle and bustle of a popular restaurant didn’t detract from our enjoyment although it was quite squashed in the bar area whilst waiting for our table. Food was excellent, I would definitely recommend the garlic bread with goats cheese and caramelised onion. Service exceptional- I need to mention Emilia and Louis . Emilia for her friendly personality and exceptional customer service and Louis for working behind the bar as he kept on top of the drinks orders with a smile on his face! We will be back.

Really nice restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, very good food & service, the staff are excellent. We were a party of around 25 to celebrate my twin daughters 18th Birthday, we were easily accommodated upstairs and everyone had a great night. It's easy to understand why it's so popular here so probably best to book as early as possible, especially for larger parties.

My partner and I recently visited Amico Mio in Whalley, having been recommended this place and deciding to spend a special £100 from our family on a nice evening dinner. Sadly, this turned out to be a regrettable decision. We arrived at 6:40 pm and, despite the restaurant not being at full capacity, faced an unreasonably long wait to order our starters. Our choices, Calamari Fritti and Insalata Caprese, were disappointing. The calamari was hard, soggy, chewy, and undercooked - almost making me sick. The Insalata Caprese was only okay, its flavour dominated by a basic basil pesto, with the tomatoes themselves being quite bland. Leaving more than half of the calamari untouched, it went unnoticed by the staff. The garlic bread we had was fine - hard to get wrong. After a 30-minute wait, our mains, two £30 Filetto al pepe verde steaks, arrived. We also ordered sides of Zucchini Fritti and Arborio Rice with Saffron. The zucchini was hot but lacked seasoning, while the rice, expected to be a vibrant yellow from the saffron, was a pale, forgotten yellow with only a mild saffron taste. Contrary to the menu’s statement that steaks come with a choice of chips, vegetables, or salad, our steaks did not include fries. Upon asking, we were told that fries were a separate side, requiring an additional 10-15 minutes and likely an extra charge. To our disappointment, the rice, meant to be served on a separate plate, was placed on the same plate as one of the steaks, with the steak’s sauce already mixing with the rice. The steaks themselves, requested medium rare, were served almost rare - well grilled on the outside but bleeding inside. This, combined with the calamari experience, left me feeling uneasy about potential food poisoning. Our final bill was £104, for two people, including one small bottle of Coke and a glass of white wine, with no service charge added. Living in London, we’ve seldom spent this much on a meal and received such subpar standards. The restaurant was also very noisy due to the loud music, forcing all customers to speak loudly, adding to the already disappointing experience. The table next to us also had Calamari Fritti, barely touching it, and again, no staff member addressed this. In summary, this was by far my worst restaurant experience, made all the more upsetting by the high cost. If the price had been around £60-£70, it might have been a different story, but even then, such faults in the food are unacceptable. I sincerely hope our experience was not the norm for Amico Mio, but if it is, a significant price reduction would be in order.

We booked our anniversary meal, as it's always been our favourite restaurant. Food was lovely, as always. Service was ok. We had to wait and ask for various things, like more drinks, salt & pepper, and waited a while for the bill. Saying that, all staff were lovely when they came over. The whole experience was dampened a little when we realised that our vouchers had expired a few weeks ago, and they wouldn't honour them in any way at all. A lesson to check vouchers in the future. (We just assumed they were still the same 12 months from issue, from previous years, prior to the take over.) On the whole a nice meal.

It is small and cosy if a little tight although I did not go upstairs. The food was very good, lasagne and tuna pizza with garlic bread. The staff were busy so service maybe a little slow? We met friends who were already seated, my wife was asked if she wanted a drink but they didn't ask me and it took a while to order a drink. When the food came it was very good.

The food was excellent, the service was good, The atmosphere was a much to noisy to have a conversation with our dinner companions. The table next to us had a couple of 10 or 12 year old boys and when one of them had finished eating he pushed back his chair to play a game on his phone but he banged it into my husband's arm as he was still eating. There was no apology from him or his parents, the tables were too close together and did not feel comfortable and neither were the dining chairs. I'm not sure I would go back in a hurry not a place for a romantic meal.

First time here and won't be the last. Even though we visited on a Tuesday night, the restaurant was buzzing, and the atmosphere was great. Very welcoming staff and fabulous food and wine. Will definitely go again.

Visited the restaurant last night, having been tempted by the mid-week Steak Night. The place was packed and there was an amazing vibe .... which was brilliant to be a part of, especially on a Wednesday when many places are still very quiet. The food was absolutely astonishing and represented incredible value for money, with two really generously-sized fillet steaks, both cooked to perfection and a bottle of good quality wine all included in the deal. Food and wine delicious !! ... service and ambience superb !!! ..... will definitely be back !!!!

Over booked - had to wait for our table to become available, despite having booked. This has happened on the last two occasions we’ve been there. The waiting area is hardly the most comfortable place either - tiny and cramped. It’s far too loud, couldn’t hear conversation as the music was so loud. No problems with the food or service, but won’t visit again due to the issues listed above.

Have to say after raving reviews found the food and presentation to be average and expensive for what we got - very noisy and cramped - think the Italian competition down the A59 far better on all fronts but of course only my view as I saw it - won't be rushing back!

Frequent visitor as live in the village. Disappointed tonight though. Recently have become gluten-free.. not by choice. I asked what dishes where gluten free. Told could make majority as fresh sauces... but only had penne pasta. This happened at San Carlos in Manchester last month. I can assure you spaghetti carbanara does not work with penne. Disappointed as no gluten free bread either. Gluten free spaghetti, tagliatelle etc is freely available at any supermarket. As it gluten free bread/flour. It's not a choice like vegan and its definately easier to eat vegan than gluten free as the choices are much better. It's a growingly more common medical complaint. Not all dishes suit penne pasta. No gluten free pizza either. Interesting Tapas 47 next door offer 90% of the food gluten free. It really should be like for like. Gluten intolerance is not the same as coeliac who cannot have cross contamination. Gluten intolerance means just avoiding it. Any chance as an award winning restaurant this can be looked at?? My steak and chips was delicious though

What a lovely little secret this place is. Hidden away on the high street in Whalley from entering to leaving the staff couldn’t be more attentive , with a great selection on the menu expertly cooked and served we can only give it a huge thumbs up and top marks . The decor and atmosphere were spot on. We will be returning very soon

We had a table booked for a party of 10. After waiting for 20 minutes for our booked table we were informed it still was not ready. When asked how long would it be we were informed not sure ! We only had a certain time left due to our train times back home. Eventually we got our deposit back ,zero score for customer care and then to be told we are banned! Very disappointed but went further down the road and had amazing food and outstanding customer care.

Total bill for two: £71.40. Too expensive for the service. They should have warned us of the price of the red wine they chose for us. Go to The Italian Orchard in Preston. Same expensive price, much better overall.

Difficult to write this review, the food is so good, we really enjoyed everything we had - but - it is far too noise for us. This is a small restaurant, there is quite loud music playing so people have to speak loudl to be heard. We mentioned this but were told thats how people like it, but have spoken to others since who have agreed with ut - such a shame as we will not go back.

Eleven family members (including 6 children aged 4 to 11) all had a fabulous meal at Amico Mio. Garlic bread, prawn starters and chicken livers were great. Pasta dishes, Fillet Rossini, lobster thermadore a real treat! Desserts (3 home made) all judged excellent! We had an upstairs table, which was probably best as the children can be noisy, but they were good as they were enjoying each other’s company (the cousins hadn’t seen each other since Christmas as half the family live in Greece). The staff were absolutely exceptional from the initial welcome to our leaving. Nothing too much trouble. All personable and professional and the owner’s father a bonus! We’ll definitely be back!

Lovely little restaurant, food was spot on . Very well staffed . It is pricey but worth it with the quality of food. Personally I would not bring kids There is a room upstairs for more space and a garden terrace over looking a chuch with headstones and the back of other building , I see the benefits of having an outdoor space just wasn't for me so we sat downstairs. Parking is limited there is a coop carpark you can pay for 2 hours . I don't think there is enough room for a wheelchair but could be wrong as I didn't have that I'm mind while I was there. Lots of staff and friendly

Absolutely great service the food here is fab! We were a little disheartened when the server told is he couldn't recommend anything because everything was good... this didn't help us with deciding but boy oh boy was he right!!! Every dish was delicious we wished our tummies could expand just so we could try more but it wouldn't. The portions are huge the small portion is what I would call a regular portion the pizza's were crazy good. The wine was delicious and the service super awesome!
