We visited my sister and called for a drink however we stayed longer than anticipated and asked if we could eat.Manager was really kind and helpful even gave me his apricot yummy.Food was amazing and I can’t wait to go backHighly recommend made my stay even more enjoyable

We had a take away from The Red Lion.I have to say, service was outstanding and the food even better. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. I cannot wait until they are open for dining and we can head down to their amazing Italian restaurant. Well done Red Lion team!!

Last sunday Duncan and I had roast pork lunch. If you are going to order this meal make sure you have a couple of hours after~spare..to have a lie down. Absolutely fantastic..huge servings, everything delicious,under £25 for two..throughly recommended.Photos on Duncans phone to be posted.

Saturday night in at home... again nothing new in lockdown, but dinner from amico di amici lifts the spirits once again.Easy ordering efficient handled even with a need for GF and Black Pepper allergies.Food arrives at the agreed time, Mas the owner is the delivery drive. Food hot and tasty starter of Misto d’ mare followed by a great spag Bol. I went for the pizza The food every bit as good as eat in, certainly a great lift on a cold wet night in lockdownThanks Mas

Once again, an absolutely fab Sunday lunch - how they do this so well as a take away is beyond me - perfectly cooked veg and even the crackling remained crunchy! We recommend the pork - and there's a good helping of a range of veggies Any lovely left overs can be used in home made soup!Go for it... give it a try if you haven't already!

We had a fantastic take away on Friday from The Red Lion, an absolute saviour in these odd times and a night off for me from cooking! We all had a delicious pasta dish but the star of the show was my superb Gorgonzola, spinach and mushroom gnocchi.Thanks guys, outstanding!

Food was outstanding, best Italian for miles. All homemade and left a very pleasant taste on my pallet for hours. Will definitely be going back soon. The choice on the menu is great too!

Had a meal here for the with my daughter last night, first visit. Would really recommend this place , lovely guy Mas who runs it, very friendly, food was excellent, as was the service , well done.

The food is always lovely, but we will not be coming back, we live locally but after the owner spoke to my father in a extremely rude manner stating he will speak to him however he wants. We will never be back. Good food unfortunately doesn't make up for rudeness

Whilst passing through Bishops Stortford I saw this Pub/Restaurant. I must say I thought the menu was really simple, and the options excellent. It was a Sunday however I did not want the roast they were offering. Although it is a Pub (The Red Lion) The restaurant part Amico Di Amici was pleasantly laid out, young staff, who were very attentive and helpful. First time here and not the last. I had Sea Bass and it had a pesto sauce, which was absolutely delicious !!! Very well presented, lovely flavours. Not bland at all. I would definitely recommend. What a nice find.

we would like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff for making our anniversary celebrations very memorable. The service was on point very friendly and knowledge. The staff were able to make recommendations and give information about dishes without any hesitation. The food was mind blowing. From the gamberoni with a kick of chilli that didn't blow you away to the beautifully plated melon and prosciutto. A steak cook to perfection with the most amazing peppercorn sauce. The milanese was a delight. The vegetables were light and fresh with just enough seasoning. Dessert selection topped off the night. Panna cotta for us this time. We will be visiting again with Friends and family. Can not thank you all enough for the wonderful experience that will be in our memories.

Very friendly staff as always - with Mass leading by example. Delicious and plentiful food, especially the Misto di mare (awesome sauce) which we had with the pizza bread for starter. For main, the Penne Salsiccia and Ravioli Salomone. For dessert the Panna cotta was best - the lemon roulade was very nice but very sweet (improved with a little rasberry coulis).A big thank you to the whole team!

Having visited lots of other restaurant in the area this lovely quaint little restaurant Was full of surprises. A nice little country pub mixed with a fabulous Italian restaurant which served the most delicious meal. Steak, saluted potatoes, mixed vegetables and a pepper corn sauce which was cooked to perfection. The service was second to none. The staff were smiling and very helpful. The whole experience was fantastic. As I am not from the area will glad travel to visit again. Highly recommended easily a 10 out of 10. Will be returning to try more of the menu.

Our overall feeling about the food was just 'alright'. A spaghetti vongole is something any Italian restaurant should be able to handle with ease but mine was lack-lustre - even the chilli had no heat in it. My wife enjoyed her starter but her sea bass was overcooked. The restaurant had little atmosphere but I will say the service was excellent.

We were missing our favourite Italian Restaurant and saw that they were dining a delivery service, oh joy!We gave this a try during the lockdown, the main menu is very similar to their normal menu, so we were on familiar ground. Arancini was good, the garlic prawns, starter followed by seafood pasta were as we remembered, and a seafood salad for my daughter was very good.The food is good, service reasonable and the price was more than acceptable, a much better experience than Nonna’s in Hoddesdon town.

Highly recommend. Best italian cuisine in town. Great service, delicious food. Will definitely order again.

Great little Italian restaurant in Stanstead Abbots, which we booked because it was at the halfway point in a seven mile circular walk we were undertaking. We were welcomed by the friendly host, Mass, who was really nice about the fact that we were walkers with boots on. To him it didn't matter. All he seemed concerned about was that we were made to feel welcome and at home, which we did. The starters were excellent. We had a bruschetta and an insalata tricalore - both delicious. Then we moved on to the pasta, my wife had the Linguini pescatura and I had the Linguini alla puttanesca. All washed down with a really nice bottle of the house wine from Sicily, a smooth white wine called Il Meridione for less than £13 a bottle. The meal was served by the friendly and attentive Shelby, who made sure we were looked after, as did Mass who came in to check we were enjoying ourselves, which we were.Recommended, we will be back.

This was our first visit here after getting a recommendation from a friend. The food was excellent, authentic Italian. I had the seafood risotto which was packed with seafood and really tasty. My partner had pizza which was also good, others had the prawns which were tasty. The wine list was good and well priced.

Having done the walkout recce. it seemed essential that we should 'sample' the fayre available before our walking group 'descend en mass' upon this establishment. We now know that The Red Lion is the perfect place for us.The menu is to suit all tastes, is very reasonably priced with portions to satisfy a 'ramblers' appetite and more than expected..... The staff and landlord are an amazing blend of friendly service and historic information.This place is THE must,Roy.

Four of us popped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of choices on the menu and then the size of the portions. Everything we tried was very tasty and served by friendly, helpful staff.

We have eaten at Amico Di Amici several times now and have been extremely pleased with the quality and variety of the food. The fish dishes are particularly good.All the staff are very polite and accommodating. We will return without fail. The pub and bar area is also worth popping into for a social drink before or after your meal.Thanks to all at the Red Lion.

We have been here several times and have never been disappointed with the food and Saturday night was no exception. There was a large group of us so we needed to pre-order our starters and main courses but the staff were so accomodating we changed one main dish on the night without complaint. All of the food was delicious but in particular the gamberoni starter, calves liver main, steak and the mushroom/spinach risotto. The only slight disappointment for personal taste was the pea and pancetta risotto as the pancetta had a strong smoked flavour.

Always a brilliant roast... generous portions and the tastiest cauliflower cheese for miles. Saved room for the sticky toffee bread and butter pudding which was really really good.

We visited for my mother-in-law's birthday dinner and we were very impressed with the service and the quality of the delicious, home made food. In particular, the Misto di mare was well cooked, beautifully flavoured and there was plenty of it - and the Ravioli salmone was one of the nicest things I've tasted. The Gnocci with the home made sausage was also very good.

I have visited this restaurant several times after recommendation by friends and have never been disappointed.

Excellent service even though it was early in the lunch hour (12.15) The food really good, freshly cooked and very tasty. The car park is down an alley beside the pub. As it is near a roundabout it can be quite hard to find the entrance.

I took some friends to Amico Di Amici at the Red Lion for Sunday lunch, and they were delighted with the food and the experience. The food was well presented and tasty. Our waitress, Alex, was friendly and had good knowledge on the wines.

Extremely disappointed...popped in this afternoon to have a drink and a meal to be turned away due to my husband wearing a vest top. This pub did not have good reviews from friends but thought we would give it a go. Very unfriendly and would avoid at all costs. Jolly Fish much friendlier and better views. The management of The Red Lyon should get their head out of their arses and treat future customers with more respect. Very disappointing.

A pre planned BBQ turned into a visit to this little gem for lunch. As always, we were very welcomed by the staff. A tasty leisurely lunch with family. Definitately recommend the CAB, Chicken Burger or Steak Sandwich for a fullfilling lunch.

I chose what I thought was a simple chicken burger & chips but was most surprised to see a huge lovely plate of beautifully presented food. For an omd man, it took me a while but I managed to clear my plate.

Our dentist is very near this pub / restaurant, so my wife and I have enjoyed a meal or drink here several times now and our visit this week was no exception. We had lunch here and it was very good. The service has always been very friendly and good. There is parking around the back (albeit the parking entrance and exit can be something of a 'challenge'...)

We visited last night and couldn't have had a better meal. Lovely service from the waiter along with delicious good value Italian cuisine. My wife said it was the best Vongoli she'd had (praise indeed) and we've visited a number of Italian restaurants in the area. Whilst it's part of the pub, the restaurant is separate with comfortable seating and pleasant atmosphere. Great food, good service and ambience. We will be back.

After a wonderful visit to Amigo Di Amici with my family, we enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast.... Which also offered other dishes which was great for my fussy eaters, such as pizzas and pastas. The meat was exquisite and the gravy was to die for.

We have been eating in this place for lots of years but I hardly ever tried their pizza. I have recently discovered it and it is absolutely superb, so good, you keep thinking about it the whole week! Recently the restaurant changed the way they do pizza, so basically it's DIY. However, you can still ask for a specific pizza and they will do the ingredients for you. The restaurant owners are very friendly and always come and say hello. So we keep coming. Highly recommended for super tasty Italian dishes or pizzas.

My partner and I have been here on a number of occasions and it never disappoints. The food truly tastes like that I've had in Italy with the gnocchi being particularity good, it is extremely flavorsome without becoming overly rich; they also do an enormous Calzone, filled with almost every ingredient in the kitchen, one can be truly proud if they finish it.

Been here a few times. Tasty food. Lovely atmosphere. Fabulous friendly waitress - I think her name was Gina. Would definitely return.

My family and I visited Amico Di Amici located at No.1 The High Street

Chose this on a visit to Hanbury Manor Hotel, around 5 m away £13 taxi . Reviews looked good, but concern was raised when we found it was in the Re Lion Pub. First impression was a bit poor, looking more like a cafe and staff all English no authentic Italian feel at all. However, the service was great, even if the waitresses, didn't know even in 2019, we still serve ladies first! All said and done, great value, great service, and great tasting food. If I was in the area I would go again. Would I travel to go there....probably not.

Had a great roast at the red lion recently with some friends, the food was top notch a seriously mean roast with loads of trimmings, the staff where very friendly and attentative a real family vibe I’ll definately be back again soon

Well, well, well back again at this cosy pub and restaurant gem. Got a quick drink at the bar first and got chatting to the lovely staff, Guinness left to rest perfectly - check! Had a lovely Pizza which took us to the shores of the Amalfi coast followed by dessert and a chat with the always lovely and funny owners- they may be Chelsea fans but anyone who can make a pizza like that is a friend to me!

I’ve been to this pub lots of times and every meal I’ve had has been amazing!! The staff are so lovely and welcoming! The atmosphere is amazing and always love having a drink or food here! Totally recommend the Red lion!

My husband and I brought my parents here on Saturday night for dinner, we had a fantastic evening! We got there early so we could enjoy a drink in the pub attached to the restaurant which was really nice. We then went through to the restaurant for dinner. I had the Bruschetta to start, followed by the pan fried cod loin in lemon sauce which was so delicious, I really recommend this! You can just tell everything was so fresh and homemade, which is exactly what I look for when going out to eat being pregnant. The staff were so friendly, was also nice to meet the owners who are out and about working as hard as the rest of staff. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the food was absolutely gorgeous, will definitely be returning again soon.

The bar staff were friendly and accommodating even though they were busy. We went into the restaurant and order pasta and a calzone. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the kitchen made the changes I wanted without any fuss.

I have been three times recently (Evening, Sunday Lunch and a Wednesday lunchtime), all three times I have really enjoyed the food and the service, the atmosphere is what I call casual friendly. Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere , lovely host but food better at dinner - mid week lunch not as good as it was .too cafe like .If I wanted Pannini I would choose a cafe or sandwich place .Ordered from main menu. Was cold but flavour ok.wasnt terrible just not Excellent as it always has been in the past .

First time at this restaurant...We went for my graduation celebrations...There were 16 of us attending and we opted for the 3 course Sunday lunch option. The service was excellent and all staff there were very attentive and friendly....Would highly recommend this place as the food was very good and staff fantastic.

First visit and we had a wonderful lunch today, although we didn't partake of the Valentine menu (not hungry enough) and chose a la carte. I had spaghetti vongole which was delicious and my husband had sea bass which was equally delicious, followed by brownie with vanilla ice cream and I had mango sorbet and chocolate ice cream. The staff were friendly and accommodating and attentive to our every need. Couldn't fault it and have rebooked for a larger gathering with friends next month.

I arranged l lunch here for 12 family members, ranging in age from 4 to75, and ranging in taste from unchallenging and predictable, to spicy and adventurous. All came away happy and vowing to return. Besides delicious food and generous portions, we were all pleased with the friendly and efficient service and unpretentious surroundings. I was particularly grateful to the helpful Mass, who had conferred with me on arrangements, and dealt good-humouredly with various changes that were made along the way. A thoroughly enjoyable experience

Enroute to London for the weekend SATNAV redirected us from the A1/M25 and as a result of the traffic delays decided to get dinner outside London. Found this place on TripAdvisor as it was close.

Had a very nice Sunday lunch here last Sunday. Everybody was nice and polite and very welcoming. We had an excellent Bruschetta to start followed by roast beef and a vegetarian pasta dish. Overall a very enjoyable lunch at very reasonable price. We will definitely be returning

As a group of friends having a Christmas drink we had the displeasure of the manager’s Christmas service. Having spent over £35 on beers, we were asked to leave as we didn’t drink quickly enough.

We chose this restaurant for Sunday lunch last weekend as it is half-way between our home and our daughter's home. It was from the TripAdvisor's recommendations that we decided to book, and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious - we all had roast lunches and desserts and each of us was extremely satisfied. We will happily use it again. The staff were also attentive and the patron was happy to come along and ask us if we were satisfied.

Yet another successful tennis club Christmas party courtesy of Mass, Mel and the team. The food was fantastic- from the selection on the festive menu through to the dishes themselves. We were spoilt for choice and everyone was delighted with their starters, mains and desserts. Service was great from the staff who did a superb job on a busy evening. Well done all. And thank you once again.

This is now our “go to” restaurant when we want good food locally.

Having walked around the RSPB nature reserve at Rye Meads, my wife and I had worked up quite an appetite. We found The Red Lion (Amico Di Amici) which was literally down the road. We were met by a very helpful young lady and were seated straight away. I chose the traditional roast beef while my wife plumped for an Italian style seafood platter. We both had the mushroom ripieni for starters and Italian ice cream for dessert. The quality of food and service was very good, and provided us with a superb finish to what was an excellent day.

We found this restaurant a while back, and have visited several times. I was diagnosed with coeliac disease in May this year, and so I was a bit wary about visiting an Italian restaurant! But I bit the bullet last night and am so pleased I did. I booked the table a couple of weeks in advance, and pre-ordered the gluten free spaghetti bolognese at the same time, as is advised on their website.

Fantastic Sunday Roast, great meat and wonderful tasty veg. Never disappointed here, plus the bonus of footie on tv in bar next door.

I had the tiger prawns which were large and my husband had the fish platter which was also huge! Then I had a medium pizza which was a good size and he had the salmon ravioli which was not huge. The service was excellent too.

Lovely venue & extremely helpful & friendly staff. Good selection of food & the chef is happy to cater for individual needs. Parking on-site & easy access for disabled customers.

First time visit and wow what a great evening with family. Lively staff very attentive and the food is superb. Huge portions so go hungry. Try the Calzone..really good and the veal escolope with spat bol was amazing...well worth another visit.

Family friendly restaurant with helpful staff and a good menu. Great service though the food is only average to good with some better dishes; also, three separate and different menus simply confuse matters. That said, the whole experience was enjoyable and we would be happy to return.

We enjoyed a mackerel and sun-dried tomato pizza and were so impressed with the bursting of flavours. I've never tried a pizza like that before, but would definitely order it again. Absolutely delicious food and the service was outstanding, too!

We recently hosted a family party and Mass and his staff were absolutely fantastic! The food was amazing and the service was attentive and top class. Both adults and children had a fabulous time and really enjoyed themselves. I really cannot fault this place and can only thank Mass and his team for allowing us to use their venue and hosting a brilliant party. A perfect day! Both ourselves and our guests will be back!!!

Lovely menu nice country pub feel

Been wanting to try here for ages. Booked a table online and we had an email with the owner as I have allergies. This wasn’t an issue.

This is a locals pub and at first visit can be daunting, don’t let this put you off the owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating.

What a joy this place is! We booked a table on line and had a chat to the owner over email in the light of one of the party needing a gluten free dinner, there is a good GF menu on their website, but it was good to know if you wanted pasta, they could accommodate GF pasta is they are told in advance, you could chose the sauce on the night.

This is a great small/cosy Italian restaurant which is part of The Red Lion pub adjacent to it. The food is tasty and plentiful with a good selection of menu items sufficient to create a dilemma for foodies. Hubby and I shared the Gorgonzola stuffed mushroom starter (and we’re glad we shared given the large portion size). Mains were calves liver and ribeye with pepper sauce. We had salted caramel cheesecake for dessert and liquor coffee to finish. Beautiful food overall served in an atmosphere of good cheer. The bill was on the high side but still within the acceptable range. We’ll definitely return to this little gem.

We visited this restaurant in April. We’ve been here several times previously and have never had a bad meal. The food is always good quality and well presented. The staff are friendly, the young male who works there is particularly professional and is worth a mention. We will definitely be returning.

The food was tasty and the portion sizes where large and well presented. Service was a bit slow but they where very busy. Even so the staff remained friendly and helpful.

Went here yesterday evening with my girlfriend for a meal, based on TripAdvisor ratings. We were warmly welcomed by the waiting staff - who were all very courteous - and served promptly. We stuck Italian and had linguine for main, followed by very generous dessert portions, of which all were delicious. During the meal, the staff were attentive and the manager (Mass) spoke to us personally to ensure we were happy. Of course we were, and not only due to the sweet gin selection (!!). At the end of the meal, when we asked for the bill, we were informed that it was on the house as every 1,538th gets a free meal, to celebrate the founding of the pub in 1538. We were obviously delighted at this wonderful gesture though the quality of the food and service would have been more than sufficient to meet our expectations. We'll certainly be returning - in part, to try the Calzone Challenge, though also to just have great food again! Thanks to Mass and the staff for an excellent night.

This is a must. The food here is just sublime and the passion that is put into the menu from the owner is obvious. The choices are many and all cooked perfectly. It was a pleasure to eat here and to find such a standard in such a small village. Cant wait to revisit. Best book a table to be sure !

As Italians I can honestly say the food was truly amazing and authentic, the service was very attentive yet not intrusive and Mass was a great host.
