Cosy little restaurant with good service and good food. No vegan options on the menu but the I asked the team and they were able to make something to order for me. Good value for money. Good atmosphere. Will come back for sure.

The food is absolutely delicious. I had a king prawn dish for my starter, which was outstanding, and a lamb dish for my main. The lamb was so tender and cooked to perfection. London standards with local pricing. Would 100% recommend. Staff are very accommodating and friendly.

Lovely local restaurant. Staff are always friendly, polite, and welcoming. Atmosphere relaxing and clean. Good quality reasonably priced food. Would recommend. We go regularly and have takeaway deliveries as well. We're never disappointed.

Originally gave 4 stars, but can't remember why. Foods always lovely, staff always friendly. Cheap, good portion sizes. Rarely seems to be many people inside, seem to mostly do takeaway, but definitely the best in the area for Indian.

We went and used a taste card and ordered Tandori mixer grill it was very disappointing. We had that dish many times before so we knew it wasn't right. If you can not cater for customers with taste card please remove from your offer. We had scraps of meat and burned bits covered with boiled potato and onions. Not happy at all. We will not get back there!!!!!

Very very little food for the overall cost (this can not be understated)! Food quality was also painfully average. Businesses are always doomed when you scrimp and scrape on costs. Word of mouth is important and returning customers are important. Very disappointing and I likely won’t go back.

Absolutly Beautiful food takes me back to grandmas curry and lovely people here and they accomodate to my taste as i dont like to spicy love this resturant and will be a realy good customer,i was also recomended this place,my partner also loves this but normaly hates takeaway ,i hope one day i come in

Enjoyable curry evening with friends. Not perfect, but overall more than acceptable. Will likely revisit at some point soon. The place is wheelchair accessible, but the toilets are not.

Called to book a table for two, advised I have a tastecard can I use it was told yes come there's a banquet menu you have to pay cash. Arrived before ordering again told the younger waiter that I have a taste card he said thats OK. He came with the menu and said it banquet night for £11.95 each we can select from the menu 4 items starter, main, side and either bread or rice. I said can I use the the tastecard for this he said yes. Ate the food glad we didn't have to pay the full price as the portion size for the banquet menu seemed small. £14.95 for salmon tikka with 4 small pieces of salmon covered with lots of onions on a skewer. Food was average nothing to get too excited about. Asked for the bill and was being charged full price. Said I have a tastecard u need to do 2 for 1 deal. To be told banquet meal not available on tastecard. He then said he would do the charges again charging full price and then using the tastecard and it came to the same price.... so basically I paid full price for banquet portions size meal. Waiter said must have been a misunderstanding...there wasn't I was extremely clear asking him several times even whilst ordering the salmon is this on tastecard? A dishonest practice..why did we have to pay cash?..something is not being properly put through the books. Then we pay the same as the banquet price. Also was annoyed when I left didn't realise that they kept the receipt!! Feel the books are being cooked!

A great place to eat, the service was brilliant and the food was of top quality. The prices were very reasonable, my partner and I were able to dine on 3 starters, 3 drinks, 2 mains and a naan, all for under £50. The atmosphere was quiet and pleasant, perhaps some more upbeat music would of been better but otherwise a lovely evening.

We were staying in Croyden overnight for an event and always on the lookout for a decent Indians when away. Saw this one had good reviews and thought we'd give it a go. Poppadoms were OK, always a hit as they're easy to pick and we rather enjoyed the seeded one. Dips were average, possibly down to us being fussy more than anything. I'm always a fan of the minty raita however there didn't appear to be one. The green dip is lovely if you like coriander, which I don't. The Raita tingled on my tongue which wasn't pleasant and tasted like a soured coleslaw? I went back for it a few times before deciding i wasn't a fan. Mango chutney and onion mix were a hit, always are and hard to get wrong. Mains were beautiful and just the right portion size. Shared a rice and naan too, we were full but not over stuffed and the whole meal came to less than what we pay at our locals which for London is a winner! We would definitely come back if we're in the area again. Staff were pleasant and polite too.

Dropped in on a Wednesday night while with work. Place was very busy but they found me a table. Great staff, lovely food and not expensive.

Ordered takeaway and it was the best curry I've had (Nirvana chicken and the paneer with peas). Shame they use plastic and don't do takeaway desserts as I'd love to try them but I think I might be addicted now...

Best curry I've ever had Afghani Lamb Shank. Meat fell of the bone, incredibly tender. Curry was not overly oily, lots of finely chopped onions herbs etc that hits the balance between a smooth paste and large chunks. Flavour was beautiful with a nice spice that was not overpowering. Would highly recommend

This place is very strange they ask you to pay in cash and if you have tastecard, they ask you to tell them before booking. I really wonder why? We presented them tastecard end of our meal and they said they can’t accept it because we didn’t inform them in advance. We end up paying full price. Staff has really ugly attitude. Really horrible experience.

One of the worst Indian takeaway I've had, the tikka masala was watery and tasted like curry sauce you would get from the chip shop. Dansak was bland with no flavour. The popadoms were wet and didnt recieve any of the dips that we had ordered.

Sorry to be the odd ball here, but I just wasn't that impressed with the food. My husband and I ordered a takeaway from this restaurant, trying something different from our normal Indian takeaway mainly because neighbours had recommended it, but we were hugely disappointed. The food wasn't really bad but just wasn't really that good either. I found it bland and hot without the spice. My husband also didn't find it that tasty and in particular felt there was more sauce then actual fish in his serving. He called to check the amount of fish that should have been in the serving and staff did confirm that his portion was a little less then what it should have been and offer compensation next time he ordered from them, which was a nice gesture but I think though its always great to try something new we will be sticking to our old takeaway.

First time getting a take away from Amera Rani and definitely will not be the last. Ordered a selection of starters, mains and side dishes. Everything was cooked well and nicely flavoured. Would recommend the tadka daal. Reasonably priced.

An excellent dining experience, the Afghanistan Lamb Shank was absolutely sensational and service was attentive and very welcoming. Also very reasonable prices and good atmosphere too, will definitely come back.

The worst food I have ever had never again will i go there

Arrived without a booking and was seated without issue. Service was professional and prompt and we quickly had popodoms with dips and a drinks in front of us. Beer wasn’t particularly cold which was a shame. My partner and I both ordered thali trays as I have wanted to try one for ages. When it arrived it was huge and very impressive looking. I loved all the different curries and having lots of small tasters really suits me. Comes with bread and rice and could easily feed two people.

I've had takeaway from here several times. It's my favourite Indian in the area - tasty and spicy food, prompt, good prices and always friendly delivery people.

My family ordered a meal from here yesterday. My mum says it was the most awful Indian curry she’s ever eaten. The Okra curry was highly spiced but tasteless and the rice tasted old and was very dry. The mix grill was completely burnt and tasted like it had been simply cooked and re-heated over and over. The lamp chops were charcoally and didn’t taste good. My mother says she will never order from here again. Don’t recommend.

From start to finish what a terrible experience! The staff swore at me on the phone saying **** I forgot to put it in.i was very understanding and just said I would like my popadoms please or a refund, the staff member then proceeded to shout and say that it was Ramadam, which I respect, but with all due respect you should not be serving customers during a religious period of faith and honouring. He then went on to mention that this company was his bread and butter and shouting at me consistently about how I need to speak with Uber eats. He would not let me speak and them hung up on me. I called back to say I would like my food please stop shouting I noted I was respectful but I'm a paying customer, he apologized for his disgusting behaviour and sent the papadoms. The food was very cold and not very nice, extremely oily and made myself and my partner feel sick. Very dissapointed and let down. Please do not order from here unless you want to be shouted at and made to feel awful.

Oh my, this place is seriously good. As an allergy sufferer, also dealing with some rough intolerances, I'm so grateful to restaurants who state such detailed allergens. So far, the only takeout I've had that I haven't regretted the next day. The food is gorgeous. Very fragrant, spice is well. Flavours are well balanced and textures are perfect. If you like citrus in your curry I really recommend their Shatkora. Amazing dish.

Just ordered a tikka masala which has just arrived. (I know, not very adventurous) but it was the worst I've ever had, by far. It was just warm, chicken tasted odd, was really small and either raw or old. It looked cooked but tasted like actual chicken death. The curry itself tasted like a more watery heinz tomato soup and was the colour of the queue at tuptup Palace in newcastle. So bad it's kind of comical. Just ordered again from somewhere else, this one has gone straight in the bin. Do not order from here. P.s, just tasted my girlfriends chicken makhani, AND IT TASTES EXACTLY THE SAME! How does that even happen?!

Great food and service, and excellent value

We found this place during lockdown through ordering takeaways so wanted to try it first hand.. It didn't disappoint. The food was incredible, in particular the Afghani Lambshank and the Tandoori grilled king prawn. I could eat the naan breads by themselves all day long. Staff was also incredibly friendly. We will definitely be going back.

The food and service was excellent and for our party of 4 people. Had a lovely time and the prices reasonable. One minor complaint that I thought, as the designated driver, was that the soft drinks were very pricey compared to the rest of the menu. Overall though I would definitely be coming back.

Collected a takeaway - a couple of prawn puris, lamb rogan josh, chicken balti, saag paneer, bhindi bahji and rice: all of it very fresh and tasty, beautifully tender and delicious. We keep coming back - best Indian restaurant around.

Consistently tasty food here with a varied and interesting menu (all your favourites plus some dishes I've not seen anywhere else). The service is very friendly and I normally visit as part of a group where it's always a popular event. Strongly recommended!

I've been to this restaurant several times over the past few years and the food has been of a consistently high quality. I visited in a group of 10 on a Tuesday evening and we were very well looked after with friendly service. As we were leaving several of our group commented on how much they'd enjoyed the food.The menu is interesting, too, as well as the staples of any Indian restaurant there are several dishes that I haven't seen anywhere else; the moong dhal kachori starter is one I'd particularly recommend and the calamari masala was also very tasty!Amera Rani is definitely one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Croydon and I look forwards to my next trip there.

Ordered a delivery for two on a Saturday evening.Ordered at around 6.30 and arrived before 7.00. So super fast.Nice cartons, mainly plastic.Two chicken dishes. My Dhansak lacked a depth of flavour and lacked a lot of lentils. Flavour was a bit watery.Pillau rice was nice, chapatti and naan good. Onion bhajias standard. All that for £27. Ouch, a tad expensive.

We ordered two baskets of poppadoms which were served with four accompanying sauces, followed by two chicken tikka masala, a chicken jalfrezi and a chicken tikka main course. We ordered pilau rice and special fried rice as well as naans and onion bhajis. The food was very tasty, well presented with adequate sized portions and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal very much.

The reputation of this restaurant is fully deserved.I've ordered different dishes on each occasion, and it's never failed to disappoint. The menu is extensive, with plenty of choice. The South Indian cuisine offers some lovely alternatives to the standard menu found in many restaurants.With friendly, courteous service, and outstanding food, Amera Rani (together with The Sanderstead Tandoori) is the best Indian restaurant in Croydon. If you're in any doubt, visit on a Sunday, where a starter, side, main course with rice or bread is only £10. Top marks!

On a very wet night we turned up to receive a warm welcome. The staff were attentive and helpful. The waiter went out of his way to assist me with a connection problem on my iPhone.An extensive menu featuring a number of dishes which I was not familiar with in addition to the usual collection of the more common choices. My Dansak definitely had a punch and beat my choice at another restaurant earlier in the week. A convivial evening with excellent food. They promote special evenings twice a week using the same menu so will give them a visit then for a quality meal at a bargain price.

Friends and I eat here a couple of times a year and they never disappoint. The menu has many tasty and interesting dishes. The food that we had this time was really tasty and the service was friendly. The salmon is a big favourite !

Never been before so decided to take away. Staff were friendly but when we go home the food was not great. We had a cauliflower dish and I joke you not that there were four small florets and about 25 peas. Absolutely ridiculous and criminal as the side dish cost just under £4 The rest wasn’t much better 6 pieces of paneer in main dish. Hardly anything warm and not spicy Very disappointed but they should be too as we won’t use them again !

I travel all around the UK and have eaten in many and varied Indian and Nepalese restaurants but none of them have been better than the meal I have just eaten at Amera Rani, The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff were attentive but not annoying! I asked for a recommendation for my main meal and was not disappointed the Chilli Chicken was excellent a bit lively but very enjoyable. I will certainly be visiting again when next in the area!

After visiting this restaurant many times. We were very dissapointed as the quality of the food was not as good.The food was not hot and three of the dishes almost tasted the same.The restaurant was always busy on a Wednesday but was more than half empty.Used to go frequently but sad to say we will not be returning.

My wife and I have been before and were, then, very impressed, both with the service, ambience and quality of the food. We called again and took note of the extensive work done to upgrade the appearance - sorry but actually we preferred it as it was, which is sad to the owners after all the money spent.

So we went there as my daughter was overdue and we thought we would try the age old tradition.!! What can I say.. Great food great price.. Taste card friendly.. And best of all for me great service.. Don't hesitate if you are contemplating going.. Vindaloo is hot but very tasty.. madras not as hot but still tasty korma absolutely superb.. (wife is fussy but loved it) the tikka masala (I wasn't 100 sure about tbh but rest of the party enjoyed it..) chutney tray that came with the poppies could of had a little more selection. However all things factered in superb.. Can't wait to go back and nor can rest of the party.. We were talking about how nice it was for a week after and we eat out far more often than we should.. Tried to attach a pic but 5mb max size so can't.. Only advice.. If big eaters get a third dish to share or have a starter. I'm a porker and no starter and great taste meant I was mopping the dishes dry with my nan..

My go to curry house since 2012. I've experimented with many other local curry houses but no other have matched the beautiful aromatic smell and taste of the Amera Rani.

I love this restaurant, really yummy authentic food. Best prices too! You also get 10% off bill price if you collect so handy if your local. Always top service from all at amera rani

The food here is just good quality and fresh. Vast menu (and if something traditional that you want isn’t there, they will do it for you anyway), really good quality meat. Good flavours and you never get oily after taste that. Always good friendly service and reasonably priced. I could eat there every week...

As I am pregnant I asked very clearly not to have any raw herbs or raw vegetables with my dishes as it is not advised in pregnancy.

We booked a table for four people at 7.30pm on a Saturday night. When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly busy with a delightful aroma of Indian cuisine and the staff were very welcoming and efficient.
