Amelie Flammekueche in Cambridge

Went for a quick lunch today, waited a few more minutes than I'd have liked for the waitress but that was OK. Ordered a garlic bread starter and pizza. I had a present to pick up in the Grafton Centre so asked how long for food? Chef said 10 m for garlic bread, 5 for pizza. Great, I'll be back in 10. Got back and the chef brought me my pizza. Where's the garlic bread starter? He repeatedly pointed out that this was my mistake, he'd told me the pizza was going to be quicker. Maybe so but I didn't ask him to cook the pizza first (I've been there a few times and that's never happened, in my world unless customer specifies "bring it out as soon as it's made" then it's starter -> main). The oven pings and he brings over the garlic bread. I said I didn't want it then changed my mind. He walks past the waitress and says take the garlic bread off the bill. I thought, fair enough, thank you. Then the bill turns up, the garlic bread was still on there as was a tip. I thought I could stay and say something but instead thought come back and write a review that might be a better solution. Food good but getting irate and finger pointing at a customer never a good thing to do and then offering a discount and then rescinding that offer doubly bad.

Took my son here after a cinema visit. It’s the only place we like to eat in the Grafton Centre. We’ve been a few times before but this was our first visit in a while. Staff were friendly, attentive and happy to go the extra mile. We were told about the ‘kids eat free’ offer which was great. My son is picky so the pizza was made to his liking, which he ate all of. The loaded fries are unmatched from any other loaded fries I’ve had from anywhere else. Love that you can eat a whole pizza here and not feel bloated. Fresh, quality food in a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks once again.

The restaurant is rather strangely located in the Grafton Centre, It is - in effect - open air in that while indoors [in the centre] it has no roof and is under the dome of the Grafton. It was very cold and draughty; the ambiance is not added to by the diners sitting round in their coats! The place was understaffed with apparently one cook and one server. We arrived for a cinema date in plenty of time with about 4 tables taken and were warned that there would be 15 minute wait. I have - however - given 5 stars based on the standard of the food and the care taken by the server. I shall return!

Wonderful French style chicken pizza and sticky toffe pudding for lunch yesterday. Was able to pay via a qr code on my table and the service was friendly with a smile. Will return when I’m next in Cambridge

This is a nice twist on pizza. Fresh ingredients nicely cooked and served by pleasant staff. Perfect for a pre-cinema meal.

Popped in at last just before Xmas. Fantastic French style pizza that was sharp and pungent. Fantastic little place and not too expensive. Definitely worth seeing. Maybe they could sort their drinks as a small criticism. If you order a bottomless, having the smallest tumbler going so you have little chance of getting a refill is a bit of a slight, but staff were great and so was the food

Really really good food. The second time I've been and enjoyed myself. I had the mushroom pizza which was gorgeous! The smoothies are great too and staff are lovely :)

The restaurant is in the Grafton centre where we had been to the cinema. Afterwards we went in and almost immediately the staff blocked the entrances to stop others coming in. With us there were three tables in use. A waiting staff member came after a while and took our order for drinks and food and then - precisely at 830pm rushed out leaving only one to serve. The drinks did not appear. Eventually two meals were put up on the pass and ignored. I did think of going up and collecting them but then I'm British and we don't do that! The food and drinks were eventually delivered. The Flam kuche was very tasty but at best "warm". I mentioned it when the waiting staff checked but they did not seem very concerned. When the bill arrived I tries to remove the "optional service charge" but apparently this was too complex and would take time so basically I gave up! The diners at the next table were very appreciative! As others have said it is somewhat expensive. A 175ml glass of wine was over £9. I do feel this was an isolated incident and that we were "unlucky". I will go again in the future with hope ...

I took my daughter and granddaughter here for lunch the food was amazing the service was first class my granddaughter loved the flam ku he l would definitely go there again the next time I go to Cambridge. I would also like to thank the staff for the patience they had with my granddaughter she can be a little monkey at times they were wonderful with her.

Had a coffee and light lunch. Very Continental, perfect place for a delicious plate of food and friendly service.

We wanted a coffee late afternoon when other cafes at the Grafton had closed so we visited this restaurant. My daughter fancied a snack to share so we tried the salmon and avocado flam-kuche with the traditional cream sauce. I had been wanting to visit Amélie having tried flam-kuche in Alsace and was not disappointed. The waitress was lovely and liked the atmosphere too.

Stumbled across Amelie before going to cinema in Grafton Centre. We both ordered Flam Kuche (skinny pizzas) which were amazing. Delicious food. Lovely waitress. Would definitely eat here again & only sorry we don’t have somewhere like this near us.

Our first time to this restaurant, food was lovely, and value for money. Service was a little mixed up, starter arrived after 25 minutes, mains arrived 2 mins later followed by our drinks. But despite this we had a positive visit and would visit again.

What a find! I was visiting family in Cambridge when we stumbled upon this beautiful place. Firstly the staff: Friendly, knowledgeable on the products available and their knowledge on Coeliac disease was fantastic and put me at complete ease. The food: WOW! The flavours, presentation and amount of gluten free options was incredible. I had the Roasted marinated red beetroot and goats cheese salad and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. It was absolutely delicious. My family had the Parma ham prosciutto skinny pizza and baked camembert and they were equally impressed with their meals. The restaurant: Very clean and tables layed out so we didn't feel too close to anyone else. My only moan is you are too far away from my house in Surrey, please open another restaurant around here please!

Delicious food and excellent happy service with a smile! We had the pulled Pork and Goat cheese flam-kuches ... Just perfect! Great to be back!

We really enjoyed our lunch at Amelie. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The FlamKuchen were delicious, I had a lovely cappuccino, and it was a bonus that the kids meals were free on a Sunday!

We used to live in Germany so have good experience of flamkuche (skinny pizza might be another simple term?).I had one with beef brisket. My wife one with mushroom, pesto and fresh mozzarella. They were very nice, light and tasty. Not huge (we WERE hungry!) but good for lunch. The staff were friendly.It was a bit chilly in the open air (early Dec) at the shopping centre but we didn't hang about. Something a bit different and I'm surprised I haven't seen flamkuche offered in London or elsewhere; get a well made one as here and they're a joy. Adding an Orangina = £27.Hand sanitiser on the table. 4.5/5

Just returned from lunch here with a friend - not a special venue but the food is excellent and well priced. We shared the calamari/squid starter - the squid was a bit tough but the sauce was very tasty. Our 'small' pizzas were excellent - very thin base which I like. Certainly if I were looking for a tasty meal at a reasonable price and I was in the area, I would go back.

Really tasty food. Reasonable prices for Cambridge City Centre. Dealt with our families numerous allergies without any fuss. We’ll be back!

We love this place. The food is delicious and good value. We were impressed by the waiting staff who genuinely seemed to care and were welcoming and professional. We wanted to leave a tip but had no change so decided to write a review instead.

We booked this thinking it was a restaurant, but it’s in a food hall - so disappointed.Pizzas were great and a nice concept - even the gluten free ones! I was a bit surprised at the price, a little expensive for what they were and where it’s placed - they were restaurant prices in a good hall.Would make a nice lunch, if you’re prepared to pay that price.Didn’t have enough wine to buy a bottle and failed to deliver all the food st the same time - and we were the only ones in the place

Went for a family meal after cinema. It’s a good concept and well done. Food good and a range of drinks. The only downside is the location; open to a shopping mall. If they ever open one in its own premises, it could be a real winner.

Visited today myself and my friend, waited a little while for the drinks and food. Lovely food but had a very uncomfortable experience where the manager visibly stressed and angry towards staff members, who were quite clearly trying their hardest in a understaffed situation. The manager proceeded to swear and shout at the members of staff and slamming receipts and items of cutlery on the work surface. There was lack of help towards the staff members from the manager. In view of this we were given our meal for free and so was other people sitting down eating, how ever you do not speak to members of staff the way we had witnessed today. The food was lovely and would highly recommend but the poor waiter was brilliant and hopefully the manager sees this review and re thinks his professional approach to his staff members

Clearly had a rookie waiter who had to be encouraged by the guy behind the counter to tell him to take our order. He noticed we had waited quite a while. We all enjoyed the food. Very appetising and tasty, not too heavy.

The Grafton is not a place we would choose to visit, but we had heard good things of this little eatery (and were aware of its provenance).The concept (flammenkuche) is wonderfully simple and we had first tried them in an hotel in Laon, but never ever seen them again, until this place opened. We had meant to try Amelie for a while, but were always put off by the Grafton Mall.We were there on a not terribly busy day (1/4 of the tables occupied) and whilst the food was great the service was a little chaotic and slow, with just a lone waitress; a side order of chips arrived as (effectively) dessert. However, the slightly longer period of sitting was welcome.The flammenkuche were wonderful, though, light and crisp.

Having previously enjoyed the Amélie flamkuchen at the Grafton, I was intereted to see how easy it would be replicate the result at home. The ordering process was straightforward and we were very happy with delivered package. Assembly was quick and easy and the finished results were delicious. We ordered the 'Authentic' and added a few black olives at home. I shall be ordering some of these as gifts for family members later in the year... I definitely recommend Amélie!

Ordered a takeaway Flam-kuche online. Process was easy, at reasonable prices. Had the pulled pork. Delivered on the day chosen with care, and packaged well ( all recyclable ).The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The end result was absolutely delicious and scrumptious!Would order again. We've tried 3 of the flamkuche, as deliveries, and each one has been delicious. Light and tasty, we shared them within a group which was ideal. A quality alternative to your average takeaway.

WOW the cheese fondue will blow your mind, its so delicious and with bread or the Flam-kuche you can just heat up in the oven, don't forget to get the fresh humous and the pizza style flam-kuche with there mouth watering fresh and very high quality toppings(try crème fraiche instead of tomato) its amazing.

If I could sum this meal (at-home) up in one gif, it would be the lady gaga talented one. What a delicious meal we had ! Easy to put together, the base was so thin, lovely texture notably fresh ingredients; overall a job very very well done. The customer service was excellent - we will certainly be back for more! Tried their take away shiznit. OMG it was yummy. I mean I sat there and scoffed the whole thing whilst watching The Boys on Amazon prime (also really good) and it was like the best night in I’ve ever experienced since lockdown began. To be honest even if I wasn’t in lockdown it would still be up there as one of the best nights of my entire life. That’s Amelie for ya!!!

Fantastic menu, and the most difficult decision was choosing which one to have. Settled for the Salmon & Avocado. Had the creme fraiche, base, as never had before. The pizza was so tasty and light. Superb.

Ligeramente difícil de encontrar, está en el extremo más alejado del Grafton Center en el primer piso sobre la zona comercial. De hecho, está al aire libre y básicamente son algunas mesas reunidas alrededor de una vieja camioneta Citroen (que es donde hacen las bebidas) y enfrente de donde se hace la comida.Qué puedo decir, he comido flammkuechen en toda Francia y Alemania, y esto está a la altura de todos ellos. Excelentes porciones, coberturas bien cocidas y sabrosas, ambos estábamos llenos después de comer 1. 5 flammkueche entre 2 personas. Recomiendo especialmente el cerdo desmenuzado.El servicio fue rápido, amable y eficiente. Definitivamente regresaremos.

Nuestro almuerzo en Amelie Flam - kuche fue una sorpresa, simplemente nunca había probado una pizza como esta. Veo la pizza como salada y pesada, pero agradable en alguna ocasión y rápida. ¿Finalmente hice la visita a Amelie? Sus pizzas son simplemente increíbles, súper deliciosas. Comimos una pizza Flamkuche que tiene una corteza mega delgada sin levadura, originaria del este de Francia. Tenía cebollas caramelizadas, piñones tostados, queso de cabra fundido, remolacha, miel con base de tomate. Mi esposo tenía cebolla en rodajas, tocino ahumado, queso gruyere con una base creme fresca de la firma. Pedimos una porción del postre especial de la casa, que Alex (nuestro servidor) nos recomendó, para compartir. Y tuvimos mucha suerte de conseguir una bola extra de helado, fue muy buen toque. Iré allí una y otra vez.

Esta es la segunda vez que visito a Amelie, no tuve la oportunidad de ver a mi madre durante el encierro y esta fue la oportunidad perfecta para sacarla. ¡La comida sigue siendo grandilocuente! Han reducido su menú, por lo que mi aguacate de salmón favorito no estaba en el menú, lamentablemente, pero probé su queso de cabra y mi madre también, ambos eran perfectos y no puedo esperar a volver.

La comida es deliciosa, ve muy a menudo para almorzar y es el mejor lugar para comer en el centro. El menú se ha condensado como en todas partes debido a COVID, pedí una ensalada que solían hacer y me hicieron una ensalada para ordenar con los ingredientes que quisiera del menú, no solo se veía hermoso sino que sabía delicioso. El flamkuche era encantador y diferente de otros restaurantes. Sin embargo, el ambiente se arruina un poco al estar en un centro comercial. If you haven't been to Amelie,make sure you do as its one of the very best in Cambridge, even knocks off those fine dining restaurant superior quality and a pizza like no other and probably something you haven't tasted before.

Mi primera experiencia con flam - kuche y definitivamente la volveré a tener, puedo ver por qué es tan popular en Cambridge. Pedimos el cerdo desmenuzado para la entrega y llegó caliente y listo para comer. Era perfecto para que el almuerzo fuera más ligero que la pizza y el sabor era magnífico. Amelie’s flemkeuches never fail to disappoint even in the new take away format! Five mins preparation, fives mins in the oven and voila the tastiest Friday night take away dinner! Delicious.. a massive thumbs up to this small local business.

It is still such a great place. The quality of the dishes they serve is second to none. I have brought some friends to make them try this place and they love it. They are now regular.

We have been meaning to visit since Amelie opened and took the opportunity last Saturday. We were there with our three grandsons. The kids were given the usual, but highly appreciated, fun sheets and pencils as soon as we were seated. The menu offered a short choice of starters but we went straight in with the mains! The Flam Kuche reminded me of being in the Artois. The choice was interesting, with pulled pork and also lamb flamkucher with vegan and gluten free also. We plumped for the traditional, crime fraiche, bacon and lardons. It was excellent, crisp and flavoursome. The children either built there own or had the three cheese. All lovely. A nice selection of puddings were available including the best sticky toffee pud I have ever eaten. There is a small, but interesting, booze list. The service was, at first, a bit chaotic, but soon sorted itself out, the people are lovely. We will be going back. Oh, they do a mean espresso as well.

Really can't recommend this place enough. This was my first time having Flammkuche and it was absolutely delicious! Loved the variety of toppings and the service was also great.

Chilli Chicken and Parma Ham Flam-Kuche for lunch, fresh, tasty, delicious, everyone should eat Flam-Kuche when in Cambridge. Look out for the yellow Citroen van.

Visited with my dad a year ago. The restaurant was really busy but they immediately recognised our arrival. We were promptly shown to our table and service was top notch.

Wow, this restaurant is something else. I would have expected to have really tasty flamkuche after reading some of the TripAdvisor reviews here... but “really tasty” doesn’t even come close to describing how incredibly delicious they were, so “out of this world” probably does it a little more justice.If you want to have the best flamkuche in the whole world, Amelie is your place! The food in combination with the fantastic hospitality provided by the owner makes it one of my favourite restaurants I’ve ever been to.Thank you, Amelie & see you soon!

We stopped once more at the Grafton during half term and indulge ourself in a delicious lunch at Amelie Flam-Kueche. I had the special of the day slow cooked cheek of beef flame-kueche seasoned with a good hint of spicy sauce...just enough to warm you inside. And my daughter had her favourite the kid flame-Kueche with tomato sauce, bacon and cheese. As always fresh ingredient, right size portion and very friendly and polite staff. We cannot wait to come back to try their new menu and I can’t believe .....they are going to serve Croque Monsieur ! Miammmm

I was in Cambridge on business and popped into the Grafton Centre to shop. Delighted to discover Amelie a really new concept I had not seen before. Absolutely fab food, super service and special atmosphere truly a super find

Our second visit to Amelie Restaurant! The service was as friendly as the first time. We were served within minutes and our two flamkuches were crispy, fresh and DELICIOUS... This is a small heaven considering it is in The Grafton Centre. It was the perfect stop before going to the special exhibition at the Fitzwilliam Museum 'The art of Food in Europe 1500- 1800'. We shall return more often.

Delicious Food and Exceptional Service Visited Amelie for the third time recently and love going to this restaurant ! The food is excellent as well as being healthy and tasty. The service is friendly and fast and the atmosphere relaxing! Great place for a fantastic dining experience

Light and tasty, these pizza like tarts make a great quick meal pre or post cinema and the dessert one is divine. Lots of seasonal specials. Such a good venue and service is fab.

Very good food, but terribly overpriced. Approximately £10 for a piece of dough and some toppings - and not the size of a pizza is too much, sorry!

Visited for the third time today prior to cinema trip. Have had ordered food to go twice previously and couldn't fault and today took other half to share the expereince. The manager (?) spotted us umming and ah-ing as other half unsure and relunctant to be persuaded by me, and seated us with a promise the food wouldn't take long. He was spot on and attentive throughout our visit, clearing our plates swiftly and delivering the bill. The food is out of this world for flavour and quality and the only downside for me is it's location. Not a frequent visitor to this part of Cambridge preferring the feel of the old town and if they relocated to there they would be mobbed. The current location is in a cheap-ish shopping centre where people shop for value for money and cheaper products, the large value shops are based here, and I think Amelie's higher-end food offerings may be a little too refined for most shoppers here. I am guessing the rental was far more favourable than the old town but such a shame. Either way, everyone should absolutely stop here and try, it's addictively yummy! Well done! I can't wait to pop by again, probably take away to eat in the car on the way home!

The atmosphere of this place is magical, it really makes you forget you are in the middle of a shopping center, food is always great and service is always delivered by kind and helpful staff, it's a great choice over overpriced popcorn if you are going to the cinema, awesome place for a first date as well... or 6486th date.. It's fancy but not expensive and the food is really light so you won't get out bloated as if you went for a pizza.

I went there with my son for lunch today as I wanted to see for myself how good this place was. I ordered a medium sized flamkuche with mushroom and a small drink. It arrived quickly and it was eaten quickly. It was delicious, the pesto was really tasty. The bill was £11 which is not bad however I was still hungry as it’s very thin, should have gone for a dessert too. Will be back for sure :-)

The food was lovely, hot and fresh with crispy dough. The flatbreads are a very interesting idea with plenty of varied toppings. I had a beetroot salad as well which was great. As someone else says the ambiance is somewhat lacking being "outside but under cover" in a shopping meal but the place is great for a quick meal.

Our waiter was very friendly, polite and helpful, even though it was late in the evening. Food arrived promptly and was exceptional. Highly recommend.

We visit Amelie regularly and it never disappoints. The flamkuchen are light and tasty, with a large variety of toppings. They also do salads and a couple of pasta dishes and offer a good choice of desserts and drinks. it’s in the Grafton Centre, cinema end, you’ll see the little yellow van at the top of the escalators. Cheap and cheerful, but consistently good value and makes a great light alternative to pizza. caters for vegetarian, gluten free etc.

Atmosphere is rather odd as it is in the middle of a shopping mall. The service was good and food tasted nice. However serving wine in a water glass is rather odd.

I had to go here, considering all the good reviews. I wasn’t disappointed, reasonably priced, and different. I had the “Traditional” which consisted of a very thin base topped with cheese, onion, and bacon. A very good lunch option.

We went there during our visit Cambridge and this is definitely the place to eat. You have fresh products, fast and warm service and it is quite like a pizza but fresher and lighter so you don’t feel that food coma that could slow you down for the rest of the afternoon!

Yummy micro thin flatbreads topped with tasty things, served quickly by lovely staff. Perfect snacky lunch. Not pretentious or fussy in any way.

Pizza is up there with some of the best I've had! Pasta was also very very good. Hope they're looking to open up in London!

If only every shopping centre’s food hall could have such an outlet! Lucky Grafton Centre to have instead of the usual Big Boys’ Burgers or Trivial Tapas let alone Pasta Naff the culinary delight that are Amelie’s Flamkuchen. These are essentially light and crispy Alsatian flatbreads adorned with delicacies ranging from the ‘authentic’ smoked bacon and gruyere cheese with creme fraiche through salmon and avocado, Moroccan lamb, courgettes chickpeas and honey to goats cheese and beetroot. I chose prawn with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, capers and sweet chilli sauce. This I would receded by the creamiest of pea soups and followed by a sweet flatbread with apple and raisins. All washed down with a bottle of Amelie’s specially commissioned ale from the Stour valley. Altogether a heavenly way to forget about the contested domestic abuse and general nastiness of a family case in which I was involved later in the afternoon.

Flamkuche is absolutely wonderful. Really great food and the service is very good too 100% worth a visit!!

I came to Cambridge with my wife a while back and parked in the Grafton with the intention of eating in the centre of town. We thought we would grab a quick coffee at Amelie which caught our eye with the yellow van and then the chef started chatting to us explaining what their speciality was - we thought, why not give it a go and my gosh! Fantastic flatbreads bursting with flavour, we only went for the medium size but the table next to us got the large and they were massive!

The food was really nice and although on the pricy side an overall great meal. My mother had one complaint about the seats being a bit uncomfortable if your over a size 12.

Simple but good. Enjoyed Moroccan lamb and spinach ricotta flam kuche flatbreads. Described as “like a crispy pizza with more topping”. Hummus maybe needed more garlic. In the grafton centre near Vue cinema so subject to local music and hubbub.

A lovely little gem. All the food was tasty and the choice of toppings were lovely. Service was lovely. Would visit again.

Definitely go here if you are in the Grafton. The food is devine and not like chain restaurants. The mains are similar to very thin pizzas, they are authentic French dish. Very light base and very flavoursome.

Went for lunch after reading a review, and it was so good we went there again the next day. Think of something much lighter and more sophisticated than pizza. Indeed, we never felt "stuffed", even when ordering a bit too much. And I give a special extra recommendation for a starter - the Sardine Bruschetta!

The food here is amazing and the staff were so friendly we even got to take away a great recipe book! The flatbreads are homemade right in front of you and taste delicious and healthier than a pizza too!

Stopped here for lunch and had two flammekueche and some home made lemonade. Everything was delicious! We had the gluten-free versions so can’t yet comment on the gluten-ous version but would be very surprised if it wasn’t at least as good. Great relaxed atmosphere as well. Highly recommend.

As we were walking to find this place we were a little unsure when we came up to a shopping centre and thought we had make a big fail BUT HOW WRONG WE WERE... These super light, crispy savory delicious 'things' were incredible.. The staff were lovely, they have a great set up. The music (maribou state) just made our visit all the better.. Just gutted we cant get these back home. A home recreation it is

A very nice place and great addition to the Grafton center but it is way to expensive for the quantity they give you. I was still starving after eating a flammekueche. Dommage !

Cannot speak highly enough of this place. Only popped in for a quick bite, but ended up eating far too much (not a bad thing at all!). Slightly pricey, but not well worth it! Staff were very welcoming.

La nourriture proposée est excellente et le personnel est très sympathique, tout en étant dans la galerie marchande d'un centre commercial l'ambiance est très agréable.

l'Inghilterra notoriamente è uno stato meraviglioso, ma purtroppo a livello culinario non spicca particolarmente. Questo ristorante rappresenta un raggio di sole del quale alcun italiano, o appassionato di buona cucina dovrebbe privarsi. Ancora complimenti!

Great service and really tasty food. Especially the banana Caramel pizza thing! They were closed but kept the ovens on so we could order desserts at the end of Sunday.

Everybody loves pizza, but flammekueche are a much lighter variant from Alsace, prepared in this case by the people who brought you The Great House in Lavenham and Maison Bleue in Bury St Edmunds. Wonderful and surprisingly inexpensive.
