First time here and was not disappointed! Amazing food, service was first class and staff were super lovely! Thanks to Jaki for the entertainment 👌 and to the lovely owner who looked after us. Will definitely be back. Tracy and Ian Bruce xx

Great food lovely staff excellent atmosphere

Great Chinese food. Been coming here on and off (mostly off unfortunately since I became an expat) for 30 years but still the best in the city. Aromatic crispy duck, soft shell crab, steamed whole sea bass all winners. Service impeccable.

The food is over priced and bland, they don’t carter for a Chinese dish call Ham with fried rice and veg. You can order different fried rice dishes egg etc but they do not serve ham with fried rice. The Banana fritters are severed pale white in colour! with small amount of banana inside, with a little amount of syrup spread below the fritters. (Poor Show) (They didn’t charge me for them as I had only eaten half of one) bland. Chinese banana fritters are normally golden brown light with a good amount banana with a hot yellow coloured syrup. Main course was just bland,( black bean sauce) it honestly tasted like a pre packed frozen meal for a super market chain. The starter I had took me back to the 70s (ribs) Staff polite and helpful. Wonderful service, fantastic food.

This is a place for westerners who have absolutely no idea what’s authentic Chinese food means. Granted that the atmosphere is decent but seriously you don’t see any Chinese here apart from the ones working. Tells you something. Hubby’s spring rolls looked anaemic. My chicken and sweetcorn soup was passable but hot. Hubby’s main of western styled cha Sui was pitiful. Mind you my salt pepper chicken was good. Apart from the above this is a restaurant for westerners thinking this is Chinese food. It is not .

This restaurant feels so authentic it's unbelievable. The food is top class, the staff are friendly, happy and efficient. The dining area was immaculate and is a lovely place to be. The dishes were cooked to perfection and sent to the table at perfect timing intervals. The food was packed with flavour and cooked to perfection, I highly recommend this place.

Seen a lot about this Chinese on social media so had to try it. Satay sauce is stunning Chicken curry absolutely smashing. Only thing that lets it down was portion size wasn’t the biggest but it was the lunchtime menu at £19. So yes it was probably plenty for the price.

Excellent, by far the best Chinese restaurant in Glasgow

We were down in Glasgow to see Tom Jones in concert (which was brilliant!! 😊). For dinner the next evening we thought we would try The Amber Regent as we had heard good things about the service and the food. They lived up to both!! From the moment you step in the door you are greeted by the lovely lady who takes your coat with a smile. We were then shown to our table which I loved as it feels like you are in a wee secluded booth for 2, when you are actually in a busy restaurant. It was a Wednesday evening and they were very busy, which tells you it is popular. Our food was lovely and we barely left a scrap! When we were leaving we received a gift for Christmas , which was a lovely touch 😊 and we had a really nice chat with some of the staff before we left. We really enjoyed our experience of The Amber Regent and I’m very sure we will return when we are down visiting Glasgow again.

Service - The staff were very friendly, and helped to confirm the good number of vegan options on starters and mains. Food - The Salt and Pepper Cauliflower was super, and the Mixed Vegetables in Black Bean sauce were exquisite. - The presentation was wonderful. Space - It was a wonderful, authentic space to enjoy a meal.

An excellent Chinese restaurant serving high quality food. The menu is slightly limited and pricey, but you get what you pay for.

First time in this restaurant and won't be our last, a friend at work recommended this place to me and as it was our wedding anniversary we was looking for somewhere special to go and this place did not disappoint, the staff where all very nice and couldn't do enough for you, Gary took time out to take our photo which was much appreciated. We hadn't been here for a while and certainly not for dinner. So when ordering main courses, be sure to share one course unless you have a HUGE appetite. Starters were fine - spring rolls (4) for my wife and hot and sour soup for me. The the steak, only good quality fillet here, and more than enough for 2 with 5 or 6 choices of sauce. Glad to see that some 'institutions' such as this don't change

I have been using this restaurant off & on over the years. In its early years, it was one of the finest, but now it could do with a revamp. As for using the restrooms, it's a hike & at one point, I thought I'd got lost. The main thing is the food, which is excellent 👌 and could never be faulted, & there's plenty of it. Expensive I would say not but each to their own. I never asked if they had a disabled toilet" if they have its not obvious, So' 100pc No use if you are Disabled or a bit shoogly on your feet as the loo's' as i said are a trek. As I don't frequent Glasgow as much as I used to for various reasons, mainly parking & Glasgow Councils unwelcoming policy towards motorists, & the shopping areas now like Tomeston, extremely run down which hurts me as being a Glasweegian & born in a tenement building in the southside. If or when I am in Glasgow, I will try this fine food eatery, providing I'm not to old to walk to the Loo.

This is a review I really didn’t want to write but having gave my old favourite restaurant numerous chances I feel it’s a must in the hope that the get their act together. Where to start. Firstly the owners must think everyone is stupid. I got a takeaway which I do pretty regularly and the rice and chips portion sizes have dropped, chips have dropped significantly. Any other restaurant serve a full bag of chips, the Amber Regent used to too then reduced to just over a half a bag and now have reduced further to just under half a bag. The rice (one of the cheapest foods you can buy) is never full anymore either there’s no spring onions throughout like it used to have. Now on to the quality, chips are shocking, re-heats, hard and chewy. Prawn crackers were as if they had been collected off tables from the night before and resold, soggy and chewy. Can’t fault the actual curry or main dishes however the silly little details that won’t cost much to rectify let the whole meal down. Why make delicious food only to get the easy things wrong and if they are skimping on portion size I wonder if they are skimping on quality of poultry and meat. Must do better or I can see this once amazing restaurant folding. We are not daft stop trying to cheat your loyal customers and people won’t buy gimmicks like feeding the homeless promotions if the food is going downhill. Get the basics right it’s not hard for a well established restaurant.

Was here with a group from work tonight. Delicious food. Reasonably priced and really good service. If I was being picky I would say that the decor could do with a bit of freshening up but I would still recommend coming here.

Was one of- if not my favourite restaurant in Glasgow for years. But, it's been going downhill. Especially the service. It used to be so welcoming and you felt like they bent over backwards for you. Last two times I've went I've had the same waiter who's service level is akin to teenage McDonalds employee.. Even when I called recently to book a table the guy who answered the phone was short/rude and not helpful at all. I asked for a booth. And instead of saying sorry they're not available or even trying to double check. He instantly replied "naw, they're booked in advance" Bearing in mind this was over a week before I wanted the table. After years of loving this place. I'm avoiding it now.

Nice food and quick service as you would expect from this long established restaurant

I've been coming to this restaurant for over 30yrs, and the food, service, and atmosphere are excellent, I've seen some negative comments about the Amber Regent, but for me it's still a quality place. One downside I would say is no accessibility for disabled, and my mobility is not easy getting to the downstairs toilet.

We visit Glasgow every August and The Amber Regent is always the highlight of our culinary visiting! From the atmosphere of the venue to the attentiveness and professionalism of the staff you will struggle better this establishment anywhere. The food? Oh my goodness the food is spectacular. Put yourselves in the hands of your waiter, inform them what you enjoy and allow them to deliver pure excellence on a plate. Fantastic experience every time we visit.

On our quest to find the best chinese restaurant this was a first time visit. We were impressed with our surroundings making it a very comfortable environment. Our servers were very attentive and had us settled comfortably at our table. I chose hot and sour soup to start with. It came out promptly and was a wise choice bursting with flavour. I always take that as a good omen of whats to come and I was not wrong. QWe opted for the mixed hors de houvres with a bit of swapping to cater for my seafood allergy. Well presented again it was a good choice with even better variety. We had chicken wings in honey and dim sum in addition to that with real quality food. We continued to our mains with aromatic crispy duck and steamed seabass. The duck was well mcooked and moist with the seabass beeing deboned and well cooked. This could well be a number one choice all round. We would definetely return and would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

First time visit to Amber Regent and well worth it. We had not booked but received a lovely welcome at the door as soon as we went in and were swiftly taken to our table. Surroundings were very nice and comfortable and the staff were very polite and attentive. Food was very tasty and enjoyable and portions were great. Will definitely be back! Despite been told it is one of the best Cantonese restaurants here in Glasgow, my partner and I find the food pretty overrated. Since I'm from Singapore and I have high expectations. Firstly, the staff asked for drink order without drinks menu as we had to ask after. Secondly,, the big Asian guy who took order seems very unfriendly and gave a grumpy vibe, the young Scottish lady is very pleasant and polite as well as the other Chinese guy staff with glasses. We had the mixed platter, six har gao, crispy duck, black pepper beef with onion and garlic and egg fried rice. The only dish we enjoyed is the duck. The egg fried rice is so dried and lack of seasoning, likewise for the beef (even my Scottish partner didnt enjoy it and gave 5/10 for the whole experience). We had tastier Chinese food in other restaurants here in the UK. Won't be back.

Had a work night out here recently and was really disappointed with the quality of the food. Used to be one of the best in Glasgow, but sadly no longer. Very expensive and food no better than your average Chinese takeaway. Wont be back.

Great food, speedy and friendly service and lovely ambience inside. Prices are a little high but discount on weekdays which we weren't expecting so a nice surprise.

Far to expensive £25 for a chicken curry and 3 spoonfuls of fried rice. There was 9 of us and they charged us all £4.20 for fried rice it was in 1 big pot and they didn't tell us we could get more. When I got the bill they were asking me if there is anything wrong because I was checking it. They didn't want us to keep the bill but my mum insisted on keeping it for her records. They also added 10 percent to the bill as a service charge. After all that, the food wasn't that tasty, I won't be back

I wrote a review in 2018 saying how this restaurant has gone downhill. We decided to try again and found it no better. The Amber used to be a special treat, not now. No prawn crackers offered, fried rice over cooked, aromatic lamb so full of fat and grizzle, small portion sizes, cold coffee. Also no dinner mints or fortune cookies offered as before. The portable gas fire did not add to the ambiance of what was once a classy restaurant. They do manage to charge high prices though. We have been going since it was the Amber Royale in Argyle St, many years ago, I don’t think we will return.

Ignore the negative reviews? These folk must want proper Chinese food at fast food drive thru prices. Food is lovely, served promptly and professionally in a friendly, well decorated and comfortable environment. Prices are extremely fair given the excellent quality produce used. Will most definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Absolute rip off. Absurd prices. Very limited menu. Nice setting but food indifferent from elsewhere. Party of 8 ordered 5 fried and 3 boiled rice. Waiter arrived with rice in large bowl and dished out 3 spoonful's each then tried to leave with the half full bowl. Will not be back. Seems a fashionable place to dine but not a particularly good restaurant .

Over priced for the food you get. Spring rolls are greasy and bland. Curry sauce has far too much curry powder in it. Absolutely horrible and sickening. Wasted £100 on food we barely ate because it was so horrible. I used a spoon to put some sauce on my plate to dip my spring rolls in, and they took the spoon out of the sauce and put it back next to me to use with my main meal rather than just giving me a fresh spoon!? Plates were also dirty. Waiter spilt juice on my partner which I accept is just an accident however no discount even offered for soaking him! Not going back here again

Female boss manger has terrible arrogance of attitude no customer service or friendly behaviour always over charges.

Between my last visit and this, the chef must have changed and the prawns supplied by a different company as the meal was not of the same high quality.

This used to be a regular haunt when I worked in the city centre so it was delightful to return after many years. I have to say the food and service are still top quality and I hope to return in the very near future.
