Amalfi White Brasserie in South Derbyshire

I recently held my 30th birthday party at Amalfi White and it is a fabulous venue! Emma Tinsley and the team went above and beyond to make the party extremely special, and cater to all my needs. I felt at ease throughout the process and everything ran smoothly on the evening so I didn't need to worry at all. The party was a great success and it wouldn't have been the same without the wonderful team. Thank you Emma!

After a fantastic visit in October for my parents 60th Anniversary and a subsequent lunch here with friends that was equally as good i thought i would bring my two oldest friends here for dinner on Saturday 2nd March for dinner.........what a mistake that was. Food order was wrong and even though assured the correct item would be done we had finished the meal and nothing appeared. this included the possible Mâitre D assuring us to - he was never seen again. The vegetables served with a steak (which was good) were inedible as extremely undercooked (parsnips and possibly swede but pick any odd root vegetable), a very odd combination with a fillet steak. Service was haphazard, we had one super young waitress but the rest were not very good. The training given must be rush through and don't catch the punters eyes! They didn't have some aspects of the pudding one of our party had asked for so we decided to cancel it. Then a version turned up 10 minutes later. Food - not great Sevice - not great Will I return - never again I don't mind errors but to be ignored and have to point out the errors on the bill and sadly my friends who insisted on paying paid the service charge which i would have certainly not done. Shame - thought this was a great find.

We visited here as a party of 18 employees. Annabelle went above and beyond to ensure everything ran perfectly, and it did. The food, service and overall experience exceeded any expectations I had. It was the ideal setting for a company meal. Thank you Annabelle for making it perfect!

A mid week birthday meal for 3. Restaurant was quite quiet and staff were very attentive. All 3 of us enjoyed our meals, burgers and tagliatelle with pulled pork, sticky toffee pudding, melt in the mouth and choc brownie a little on dry side but tasty. This is our 2nd visit to this restaurant. I love the decor and atmosphere. Lovely touch bringing out a sparkler with little cake for the birthday person. Thank u for a lovely evening!

It was a while since we had been and we were a bit concerned about the mixed reviews. We had Saturday night dinner with brother and his wife. As ever the ambience was great, buzzy, noisy and fun. The place was packed. The menu was good and we had cocktails, wine and ended up both choosing Chateaubriand for the main courses. The food was good and the Chateaubriand was amazing with both cooked perfectly to our orders. Service was a little slow presumably because it was Saturday night and they were full but we were fine with that and the table was reserved for 2:30 which was plenty of time.

My wife and I went for my birthday celebration, we ordered from the set menu. All 3 courses were beautifully presented and tasted great, the staff were very welcoming and the service was excellent.

Very good food. Only suggestion would be that if someone is required to order ahead and goes for fish of the day; to clarify on arrival that it contains meat as I then had to wait for you to remake the dish when it arrived with bacon. However it was absolutely superb and an enormous serving!

We were informed that our original venue was cancelled due to a flood 48hrs before the event, we contacted Amalfi White and they managed to accommodate us for a private dining event. Nigel and his team pulled out all the stops to make this a rememberable evening, customer care and service, as well as the food was 1st class, all of our guests commented on how the enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Having stayed at a local Air bnb, the Boutique Cottage in Melbourne, the host suggested a few places to visit. This was highly recommended, and what a great experience we had. With a fine dining area and separate bar, Amalfi White balanced out the two really well whilst keeping a relaxed yet upbeat feel to the night. The cocktails were well presented and well made, and there was a selection of spirits and beers to choose from. I'll be back again, and thank you for a great night. The addition of the Christmas band was a nice touch for the Christmas period. 🍻🍷🎄📯🎼

Absolutely love Amalfi White, been a few times but our most recent trip for my birthday was my favourite. Fantastic, really interesting meal options (including for vegetarians) but also more traditional options for any fussy eaters. The highlight though was when we were reminiscing about a past trip when we'd had a delicious starter with a stilton cheese ice cream which was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten, and a lovely guy who worked there overheard me and said we've got some in the freezer I'll go get some for you! So so so thoughtful and made my day (and it was just as delicious as I'd remembered!)

I visit Amalfi Whites regularly; it has always been a go to eatery for great food, service and drinks. However, on this occasion, AW did not meet its usual high standards. Before leaving a review I emailed the restaurant; I personally don’t like leaving negative reviews. However, the response I received from AW was in my opinion, was defensive and passive aggressive. Though, ended with the option of 2 free drinks on our next visit! The food was lovely. BUT, not up to the usual AW standards we have previously had. We have eaten at AW on more than 10 previous occasions and always been delighted with the food. Spending usually £150+ for 2 people. On this occasion, service was very slow and we had to go to the bar to obtain drinks. I understand that it was a busy period and if the restaurant is short staffed, tell the customer. People are usually sympathetic to this. However, restaurant service and paying a service charge, you should not need to go to the bar. Reading the recent reviews and sequential responses (below), is concerning; more from AW. AW responses are too defensive. Thank you AW for all the previous experiences. For now, we will not return.

Really enjoyed the night. Very welcoming staff from the moment we walked in Ludi was fantastic showing us to our table and on hand throughout the night, nothing was to much trouble great service thank you

Where to start… The food was phenomenal, I’ll take my hat off to the cheffing team for the absolutely mouth watering food. I had to myself the scallops followed by a wagyu burger finished off perfectly by a superb classic, the chocolate fondant; a simplistic desert made chic and delectable here at Amalfi. Every part was spot on, from the seared scallops, the crisp chips, beautifully cooked burger to the melt in the middle dark chocolate delight to finish off. A special thank you to our waitress Ludi for her fantastic and attentive service. Nothing was too big nor too small for her to handle with ease and prowess. Another thank you to Emma behind the bar for stirring up the evening with fantastic drinks and again an attentive service like no other. Lastly, thankyou the rest of the team here for making tonight something to truly remember. Nothing great comes without a cohesive team and the team here, is second to none. If you’re ever in town, this is the venue to visit. For drinks, dinner and an experience.

Popped in for lunch, the Christmas menu was fantastic and food was beautifully presented. There was only 2 other tables yet the service was incredible slow to the extend I had to wonder round the building to ask for the table to be cleared and to pay the bill. Only a small thing but took the edge off the experience.

Attended a xmas party, and wow, I've never experienced such bad service, It was beyond disorganised. £55 a head for food that was delivered so randomly i thought it was comical! Out came the turkey and ham on a platter, with pork pie. Then about 15 minutes later out came some quiche. I think some cheese followed, with no crackers. I'm sure then a pot of potatoes came out 1/2 hour later. Cant quite remember it was that bizarre. Maybe the crackers followed at this point. Then some bread, no oil. Oh', the oil followed about 10 minutes later. Last but not least another 15 minutes or so later out came a jug of gravy. No desserts, these apparently were left on the top table near the DJ. No chips at the end of the night, although i'm told these were also left on a random table The food quality itself was actually quite nice, just ran by people whom don't know what they are doing. Oh, i did try and contact customer services to complain, still waiting on a reply. Considering this restaurant is highly recommended. Would i come here again.... that'd be a no. People must attend this restaurant because its expensive and the 'place to be seen'. I would have been better off having a plate of chips in the pub across the road.

Great food as always. We came with another couple for a nice evening but could not hear anything due to a very, very loud party sitting opposite. After mentioning the issue no-one asked them to keep it down and the person behind the bar said "what do you expect us to do! Having paid £264 for a main course, what a dreadful night.

Classy venue with quality food and drinks.

Visited here for my mums 60th, we were seated in a lovely cute little private area, the only downside to this was a lot of random people opened the door thinking it was the toilet. Starters were a little disappointing - scallops were over cooked and really expensive Terrine was nice but only 1 small piece of toast, really think it should have 2, especially as the olives and bread ordered separately came with like a while baguette chopped up! Main dishes were fantastic, I had the Asian spiced chicken burger in bao buns and upgraded the fries to Parmesan fries - could not fault this one bit, so tasty and the sauce was fantastic! Others had the wagyu beef burgers which were equally as good and massive! The side of the lamb croquettes were absolutely delicious, so so tasty! You should add these to the main menu forever!! Daughter had the cheesecake and she said it was the best cheesecake she’s ever had. I recommend that you check the menu and prices before you visit here as it’s quite expensive. Worth it if you like nice food!

What a wonderful memorable occasion, made extra special by Ludi our waitress. Interesting conversation about literature ….. a true bonus for us ! Thank you. We’ll be back (as Annie almost said)

Had been looking forward to going to Amalfi white for quite some time but was really disappointed with the food and service. our food was pre ordered as a large party mid week. Only a couple of other tables were taken that evening and table was booked for 6.30 however we did not get our meals until 8.45. and it wasn't worth the wait. I had ordered the seabass, not much bigger than a sardine sat on the plate with 3 boiled new potatoes which tasted like they were out of a tin, two baby leeks that had seen better days and and one sliver of carrot , that looked like peel thatI assume had been fried to make it crispy. so so disappointing. left hungry as did ever other member of the party, some of the guests didn't even get their whole order but were told it was served at the other end of the table. No apologies given. poor experience I wont be returning.

We booked Amalfi White to celebrate my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. My brother and I did a quick visit a few weeks before and were shown an area to have a private dinner for nine, Hannah also kindly arranged to have a cake made for us to save me sorting. We were given access at lunchtime on the day to decorate it and all staff on both occasions were super and helpful. We arrived in the evening for dinner with all the family and we were greeted by the fantastic Jess who looked after us all evening (along with some of the rest of the team at odd times when needed). The food and service were superb and after my parents got tired and we decided to do the cake at home, Hannah very kindly didn't charge us for it - i cannot praise her, Jess and the whole team enough. Thank you for making my very elderly parents celebration a massive success.

Visited for Sunday lunch 22 Oct with family. We had been badly let down by another venue. The staff at Amalfi fitted us in. It was our Ruby wedding and they saved the day. The staff were very friendly, accomodating and couldn't do enough for us. Gave us a complimentary glass of fizz and mocktails for the 2 children. As if that wasn't enough they kindly came out after our meal with a choc brownie and ice cream with a sparkler and happy anniversary on it. It really made our day after being let down.lovely place and wonderful staff and food was amazing. First visit but will d efinitely return soon. A gem of a place. Many thanks for making our day and us feel so special. X

We were invited to a 21st birthday party here. The room was lovely. We didn't have food just drinks from the bar. The only down side of this venue is lack of parking, plus there were road works at the time which made it even more difficult.

Wow wow. The food was exceptional. Service fantastic! We have Chateaubriand and it was the best we have had. Amazing!!

Visited Saturday 30th September to celebrate a birthday. Was very disappointed all round. Was seated in what appeared to be an alleyway where waiting staff would appear from behind me either side of my seat to let people pass. This was constant. People constantly stomping by. Ordered a port star martini which didn’t arrive with a shot of Prosecco, had to ask for this which was brought over. Scallops were tasty but very small which is not what we were expecting. The fillet steak was not a steak but came as sliced beef. The duck had little meat to it and was mostly duck fat which was revolting. What meat there was was tough. I had to ask for a steak knife to cut through it. The carrots and other vegetables although looked nice were what can only be described as being shown the heat. They were in the main raw and inedible. It didn’t help that the area was quite dark and you couldn’t see what you were doing. The waiting staff did not ask me if my meal was ok, merely took my plate away which was still full of inedible food. Extremely disappointed with the whole experience , given the price you pay and would not have expected this at all from an establishment such as this. Would not recommend.

Little bit disappointed compared few years ago. Food was nice but long waiting time.End of our dinning the we left the restaurant and the waitress run out from the restaurant with bill because they released they done mistake in the bill and the supervisor waitress came after us she’s said the bill was wrong and they need charge more for our dinner. I think is unprofessional and bit embarrassing for us because was looks like we walk off without payments. So we think never turn back again. We was their customer many time through years. Celebrating many occasions, but we think look somewhere else.

I booked the restaurant for my husbands surprise 30th birthday party and it was absolutely outstanding. Sian and her team from the minute I contacted them were so helpful and accommodating to all my requests and help make it a very special evening. They did a BBQ buffet for food which was outstanding and nothing was too much for them. We love it here and always visit but they really did pull out all the stops for us even decorating the venue for us before we all arrived.

Absolute disgusting people who run and own this place. Had to cancel booking due to COVID. They want to charge us £80 to cancel (4x£20). PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS. iF YOU BOOK AND THEN HAVE TO CANCEL YOU WILL BE PENALISED HEAVILY. Imbecile owners, moronic manager who is enforcing this.

What would have been an amazing healthy Thai salad was ruined by sickly sweet glucose laden chilli sauce. Would order again, but ask to leave off the sugary sauce.

Lovely meal, great service and beautiful ambience. They even gave us a special desert to celebrate our wedding anniversary after asking us if we were celebrating a special occasion. Would definitely recommend you give the place a try.

Great food ashame Thai salad had sold out!

We went for a civil wedding and they couldn't do enough for the guests. The hors d'oeuvres never stopped. The food itself was good and the whole day was better than expected. Even had entertainment laid on.

Nice venue, as a wedding photographer staff were really polite and helpful.

Held a 60th birthday meal here for 19 guests, the meals were very delicious, with a good selection to suit all diets. They were well presented and hot. The service was second to none and well attended. This is a very popular restaurant which I would strongly recommend you visit.

A fantastic restaurant. We came here to celebrate a special birthday with 17 of us. The staff and the service were faultless. The food was perfect and very tasty, top points to the chefs. The setting is really nice inside of the restaurant with a good selection of drinks and cocktails. Thank you for a very memorable birthday celebration.

Lovely place and great food friendly staff, bit miffed to be told by the waitress not too order the nibbles ahead of the mains as it would take ages to get our main and off she walked, surely nibbles are for before a meal?? Then as the staff are so keen to keep you glass filled I would take a sip of wine and then it would be filled, I had to ask them to stop. We finished eating and the aircon was turned off, it was hot so we went outside to the garden, we were then asked rather rudely if we wanted any desserts or just the bill. Two mins later asked to leave the garden due to license. Fair enough, message could have been delivered a bit better seeing as we had just paid £60 per person for drinks and a main course. As we went back in doors the staff were having their supper and the aircon turned back on, so it felt we were in the way. I felt we were rushed and what we asked for we were told better not to by the waitress. Wasn't my best experience and for the price I expected better treatment to be honest.

Visited the restaurant for our anniversary on the 8.7.23. The restaurant had a really welcoming atmosphere and the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the lack of choice for vegetarian options, I felt that a few more options on the menu would have been nice. This is not a complaint or a put down of the restaurant but just a vegetarians views. I would still recommend the restaurant to friends and still enjoyed the ravioli option. Les.

Excellent food and great service

Saturday lunch with the family (three adults). We were in luck as despite not booking we managed to get a table.We were so pleased we did. A great restaurant with amazing food (can't remember the whole menu), lovely food and a real buzz to the atmosphere when a number of groups of "ladies who lunch" arrived and instantaneously lifted the 'busyness" level. Lovely lunch and very highly recommended.

This is a really beautiful restaurant, lovely place for a celebration meal! The staff are amazing, really attentive and nothing is too much trouble. We had quite a large table with some special requests which they sorted no problem! Food is delicious and they helped pair the right wine. Would definitely recommend and will be returning!

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. We had nibbles, starters, mains and a bottle of red. Each was very lovely in their own right - scallops for stater were cooking to perfection! Catch of the day was different and done so well. Definitely recommend a visit here.

We had my daughters 30th bday today there were 12 of us including 2 children and toddler, the food was very very good, there were a couple of little misunderstandings about arrangements but they were dealt with with no issues or problems, we all had a lovely time, the request for a cake was great and it was fab, thank you

Fantastic place. Food was great, service impeccable, prices.....you get what you pay for, but this place is very reasonable for the quality. Standout experiences: one of our friendship group didn't like the default bubbly included in the bottomless deal, so they appeased them with Chambord to help!, They also topped up 2 bottles of bubbly well after the bottomless time limit, which was an unexpected but welcome gesture. That's the sort of service that gets a revisit!

We had a lovely evening at Amalfi's. The waitresses were attentive and prompt and the food suitable for a celebration. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to share a special occassion.

Came for lunch on a Friday, had the scallops to start and lamb as a main and a lemon sabayon for dessert, one of the if not the best meal i have had, Rhys and Christina are brilliant and a credit to the hospitality industry... 100% recommend

Attentive service, intimate setting and excellent food We booked Amalfi White for our company Christmas party and had such a lovely evening, we booked it again for my wife's 40th Birthday celebration (Feb 2023). It's great to have the cocktail bar which serves as a wonderful opportunity to chat and mingle before dinner as our friends arrived from across the region. We were seated in the conservatory area as one large table - next to the kitchen. It was lovely to have the room to ourselves and Hannah did an outstanding job in keeping our drinks' glasses filled - her service was attentive and subtle. We'd pre-ordered our starters and mains, so the food arrived very promptly on seating - and on both occasions we've been very impressed with the variety and quality. I opted for the Catch of the Day but amongst our party we had lamb, steak, duck - everyone commented positively. As a nice surprise a birthday cake arrived with post-dinner drinks. The pre-event communication with Megan was smooth and helpful and ensured we had a memorable and enjoyable evening.

Amazing food! My favourite restaurant at the moment. I hope they put the duck main back on the menu at some point though!

We had Christmas dinner here everything was perfect there was 12 of us at the table we had our own waitress she was assisted buy others when the food arrived so it was a slick opperation well done ✅

Finally talked in to going out for Christmas Lunch, first and last time ever! Venue great,service good, food an absolute embarrsment ,well to any chef that cares!. Tasteless starter's, chewed main course,but the slice of microwave Christmas pudding was OK. Never again who ever was on tge pass letting that food go out is in the wrong industry.

What a fantastic night at Amalfi White last night , Siân , Hannah and the team looked after us like royalty so grateful!!

Table booked at 7:30, waited an hour for starters, another hour for mains, desserts took another 40 minutes we had to get our desserts off the server before they melted. Appallingly bad service, soup inedible and mains too salty. Bottled water put on the table and charged at £4.50 each, when we were happy with tap water. A really bad experience, the manager took the inedibles, water and service charge off the bill, the waiting staff were friendly but the bad experience spoiled the night somewhat.

A lovely dining experience - superb food, excellent staff and great atmosphere...what more could you ask for? Our Red Letter Days voucher was honoured, even though it was supposed to be for lunch and we'd booked dinner! Will definitely go back ☺️

I didn't eat here. Was at the gender revealing of my (as we found out) granddaughter. Amalfi White was clean and fresh, the workers were excellent. I was expecting to leave there having spent a fortune. Not so, very reasonable prices. Parking was an issue on the day, they have no carpark. But we did go there on Rememberance Sunday. So maybe Parking wouldn't be a problem as a rule. But may I suggest you go there. Really good experience.

I cannot think of anywhere id rather go for consistently good food and drinks. The service and staff are always amazing as well. We love it here!

I was apprehensive about going here first as I had my son with me and he was quite hungry. I was glad we did as the service was first class and Sian was very welcoming and my sons food came out very quick which was good for us normally the kids food can take some time so we were happy it came out quick. His food was very good and a decent size for kids. Our food was also amazing and tasted very nice and fresh. We really enjoyed the food and the service from Sian was top class. The espresso martini was great shame I was driving or I would have had another.

Called in on the off chance for a table. The staff were extremely welcoming. I had chicken and after quite a long wait it arrived but was a bit over cooked but the taste was great. We mentioned this to the waitress and she deducted £20 off the bill even though wevdudnt ask for that and bearing in mind I did eat my meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant and if we arevin this area again will definitely be booking again.

Very good dining experience, new head chef so food not what it used to be, but improving.

Went for Sunday lunch with the family. Very nice interior and friendly staff. We paid £35 per person for three courses. However, in my opinion the starter, although nice was not worth the extra money as for £27 for two courses would be a better option. Main and dessert. The starter was just fancy flavours but not actually filling at all. Again my opinion but not worth paying for. The main and desserts were lovely though a decent sized portion and very tasty, cooked to perfection both the Lamb and the Beef. Drinks were priced the same as most restaurants. On the whole a very nice meal and decent venue. Would recommend and will go again, but next time will not bother with a starter.

Excellent restaurant with a wide choose of menu!

Went today at lunchtime for an anniversary meal with the wife. Great customer service as always. Food was great, even though I found the duck salad overly salty, especially when paired with really salty fries. I mentioned this and the waitress sorted us out, the mark of a good resaurant, if there is a issue, sort it! Thank you!! I would still order the duck again, but would ask for lightly salted if possible. The pig cheeks were incredible as a starter, and so too the ravioli. If you go, the mocktail 'No hito' was amazing and so refreshing, it hit the spot. Finished off with the cheescake which we both liked too. Enthusiastic staff that were very attentive. Overall experience. 5 stars and will defo go again. I honestly believe you can give 5 stars even with the salt thing, due to how they handled it. Ohh, almost forgot, my pet hate is awful hand dryers in toilets. No problem here, nice powerful super dryers and a clean stylist facility. Great attention to detail.

Went here for Sunday lunch as a belated birthday treat from my son. Staff were attentive but not pushy.. They knew specials etc.. Food was really good.. It's slightly expensive but for a special occasion its well worth a visit.

Booked a table there and got a 2 hours slot. Had to wait 1h30 to get food served... Many times we were told that the plate were dressed up. There was 5 of us, all taking roast dinner... It was supposed to be a 2 courses meal (main and dessert), we decide to leave after the main due to the waiting time and the quality of the food. As a gesture we got a discounted bill and a £50 voucher...

Just popped in for a swift bottle of bubbles. Service is good and the venue is lovely during the day with a nice outdoor space. Looks like it would be fun in the evening too Possibly could do with a bit of a refresh but still a nice place to visit 😀

Nice surroundings, good service but very disappointed with the food. I had the fish for main course and it was the size of a fish finger and shrivelled up. It was also overpriced. Note a 10% service charge is automatically added to the bill. I will not be returning.

I've been here a few times with my friends and it's such a nice place! The service is so good especially Christina, she was so friendly and the drinks came out so quickly. I will definitely be coming back again!

I do not recommend ... the service is very rude waitresses, they added 20 GBP to the bill with a service !! I wouldn't be angry if it wasn't for the fact that we waited about 45 minutes for the meal and the waitresses were very unpleasant. Food ... well barely the standard of fast food and the bill over £ 200

Great service and staff were excellent and attentive. Food was good. The only thing I found odd was that we decided against a desert but were going to have a coffee, however once we decided against the desert the bill was presented and the opportunity for a coffee was gone. Never had that before!

Visited for a meal with friends. On arrival our table wasn't ready and we waited in the bar, which was very busy. We were around 30 minutes late being seated at our table, and no apology. We decided to go straight to main course. We were told there would be a 30-45 minute wait, and asked repeatedly if we wanted something to nibble on, we didn't. When the food arrived it was nice but expensive for what it was. £19 for chicken and then extra for potatoes and veg, though there was a small amount of veg on the plate we were told there wasn't. We had dessert that was also nice. It was quite noisy in the restaurant and overall certainly on a Saturday night seems to cater to a younger client base. On visiting the ladies before I left, it was more like being in a nightclub than a restaurant with a number of people who were worse for wear shouting and cursing. So I had an enjoyable night with my friends, and the food was good, but due to price, and the Saturday night 'loud pub' feel to the place, I won't be rushing back.

Please be aware that they charge £20 per person should you cancel at short notice no matter the reason. Please make sure you gain this information if you book over the phone as they do not communicate this to you but rely on the email confirmation as their back up. The second time I booked, I received no email. Irrespective of this we still visited this place. Our table was booked for 8.15 but was not ready and we had to wait half an hour or so. Once seated and ordered we had to wait an additional 40 minutes for our food. The food was great but, having dined at many nice places, to command these prices I would expect a great deal more. Pleasant enough but probably wouldn't go there again.
