Amalfi in Glasgow City

Sadly we were sat at the door it was very drafty! It took a while for our order to be taken they were vey busy and were only taking people in with reservations others were asked to come back later! I ordered penne carbonara it was not authentic it was made with cream not egg and the ham was not pancetta we ordered garlic bread it was sliced white loaf toasted with butter an a little garlic on top. I was disappointed my friends had Arabiatta and pizza . Pizza was lovely! White and Rose’ wine fair! I’m sorry but we were disappointed and found it expensive for what it was!

Pretty awful meal wouldn't ever go back. Staff harassing you to order and one Italian lady was quite snippy.. bad experience and grossly expensive for what was presented

After we saw a rating of 4.5 on Google we thought we get a real good Italian. However, good was very normal, which is a 3. friendly personnel though. What can I say? Bread was not fresh, coke in a can, pasta seemed from the supermarket and taste was ‚normal‘. If you just want to eat to fill your stomach it’s good, don’t expect something special Italian. What really was special was the knife for the pizza. This is rare in restaurants (that’s why I mention it) in that I cut the pizza excellently. This wasn’t facetious but I really liked that

I went there last week purely by chance, because I was passing by and I wanted to eat Italian food. I had some Sorrento gnocchi and some cannelloni. As an Italian, I feel like saying that the food served here is not Italian as there was pepper and onions in my gnocchi, the mozzarella was not Italian and you couldn't really taste it... the tastes were not Italian at all.. ..there were only two cannelloni, even those full of onion (but why do you put it everywhere?) immersed in a pan full of sauce that looked like slop. I'm sorry when food is passed off as Italian, when it isn't, it should be specified when it is adapted to the local cuisine... because in Italy we eat in a completely different way, with fewer ingredients but of high quality and super tasty.

Lovely starter and dessert. Main course - spaghetti con vongole, my favourite for many years - very disappointing; a sloshy, watery mess which lacked any sign of traditional garlic and chilli flavours. Small portion. So disappointed.

Our first visit to this wonderful restaurant, and certainly won't be our last. Fabulous food, and such warm, friendly and welcoming staff.

Both food and service were excellent. Perfect location for Glasgow concert hall. Will 100% be back. There are more fancy Italian restaurants in Glasgow but none as inviting and friendly as this one. The food was hot, tasty and didn't have to wait ages.

Visited Amalfi for a friend's birthday celebration. Whilst food was tasty and well presented, the service and attitude of staff leave a lot to be desired. It is appreciated that there is a quick turnaround for tables at this venue, but given we had an average time of 90 minutes for our table, we felt rushed and pressured to leave earlier than designated time slot. The staff were rude, removing plates and glasses without even asking if we were finished and constantly stood over our shoulders to clear table etc. Did not feel comfortable with this and the staff's overall attitude seemed to be one of 'eat and get out'. Very poor service and unfortunately would not recommend or return.

Booked set meal for dinner for myself and 2 friends, which was for birthday celebration. The food was very good, tasty and well presented. The staff and service is another matter, I accept and appreciate a quick turnaround is desired by restaurant staff, however to be rushed and be placed under pressure to leave due to demands on service is not on, given we had table for 90 minutes, on this visit, our plates and glasses were removed before my friends and I had even finished. This spoiled an otherwise pleasant meal. Unfortunately, would not recommend

This restuarant is amazing both food and service are excellent. The staff are very friendly and were very attentive to all our needs. The restuarant is spotless and it has a great buzz about it. It was very busy but the service was great and we didn't have to wait long on our food which was piping hot and tasted delicious. I cannot fault this restuarant and will be back again.

Amalfi has cemented itself as undoubtedly my family's favourite restaurant anywhere. We always receive world-class, personal service and the food is always of the highest quality. All of the staff have a great passion for providing a dining experience to remember - we struggle to eat out anywhere else (The saltimbocca alla romana is not to be missed!)

They managed to fit us in at very short notice on a very busy evening. Service was good, food (salmon and one off the special board) were good. Friendly owner/staff, good value. Ideally located for the Royal Concert Hall

Superb food and service with a wee bit of attitude. Brilliant. The spaghetti carbonara was first class and I loved the moules frites. My son raved (unusual for a teenager) the Amalfi meatball starter. He also loved the Toffee Twilight dessert. So, here's the thing ... my wife makes superb Tiramisu, so we never order it when we are out, but the waiter challenged me to try it saying it was free if it wasn't as good as my wife's. I paid for the Tiramisu. The Italian Cab Sauv was a steal too at £24 per bottle in the city centre. We will return ........

Based on the reviews we were expecting a decent meal but regretfully not what we got. Our starters were poor and minestrone soup was a watery disaster. No amount of salt and pepper could save it. Pasta dishes came within about 5 mins of our starters leaving the table. Again, I've tasted better sauces coming out of a jar. We did not attempt to order another disappointing course. So paid up and left. Not for us.....

First time at this restaurant. We came for my better half's birthday as a recommendation. I am glad we listened to that recommendation. Best Italian in glasgow as far as i am concerned. We will definitely be back. Staff were friendly and very professional even during a busy spell as restaurant was full.

Finished in the office earlier than expected so wanted some where to grab a quick meal before getting on the coach at the Coach Station & saw this place … so glad I did. The Amalfi Baked Paste was spot on. Service very good and friendly and all done with politeness and no messing.

One of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow city centre. It’s definitely a spot you shouldn’t miss. I’ve always loved the vibe in here and the service is excellent. Same staff and servers every time we go in. I Love going here for lunch or Dinner. Their beef stroganoff is a must try for sure. I Highly recommend this place.

Totally forgot to review this place when we were in Glasgow few months ago. Ateended a concert nearby and the obvious choice for dinner was Amalfi. We were a bit worried we wouldn't get a seat but the lovely staff managed to find us a table immediately. Such friendly staff and the food is fantastic. Will visit again when in the area.

Went here last night on Hogmanay and glad we did, food and staff where lovely , really enjoyed it, good atmosphere and setting defo be back when back at Premier Inn which is a minutes walk from it

There is no better place to go for Italian food (and that includes Italy!). My wife and I have been there numerous times and enjoyed wonderful food every time. On this occasion my brother, who is not a particular fan of Italian food, was with us as well as his wife. He stated that he has never enjoyed this type of food so much! The gamberoni starter is the best I've had anywhere. Any pasta or pizza dishes we've had are also delicious on every visit. I can't praise the food enough so try it for yourself and find out! The staff are very pleasant and helpful which also goes to making dining there a great experience.

Absolutely fabulous, booked for dinner on a Saturday as part of a weekend away. The Pizza and Stroganoff were perfect. The service and view of the kitchen reinforced the passion for perfection that we experienced.

Every time I have eaten here it has been exceptionally outstanding and staff are helpful and friendly amazing people and food great choices with a chippy menu also part of it with real chips you won’t be disappointed go find out for yourself.

Was here in May and I would of highly recommended it but was in tonight and was very disappointed, we had just finished our starter and the plates were cleared when they came over with our main course didn't even give us 5 minutes in between courses, after finishing our main course our plates were cleared but wasn't even asked if we wanted anything else, no staff came near us so we had to go up to the counter to pay the bill, we weren't the only customers that had to do this , we felt they wanted everyone out so they could close early as they were cleaning up before we left.

This has to be one of the best Italian restaurants that I have had the pleasure of going to. The hostess was charming and really took an interest in us as customers. We got an evening meal three course with drinks and the quality of the starters was excellent. Home made lasagne was perfect and as for the pizzas really good. The atmosphere was quiet but pleasant and it got busier as the evening progressed with takeaway on offer as a few came in looking for pizza. Food ingredients were delicious and fresh and you can see the pizzas being made if you crane a look over the counter. Price was good 30 pounds each for full meal and drinks so won’t complain as it’s a really good night dining out. Have been to other restaurants and it’s often the staff and owners little touches like talking and providing that little something extra that gets your attention and this place has a homely feel which other franchised food places just cannot provide. Get down to this place make it mad busy and spread the word about this hidden gem and eat some home made delicious food for a change that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. It was our time at Amalfi in Glasgow. We found it by chance due to our first choice Italian restaurant being booked out. We ordered entree and main course. The food was average and the only thing that was Italian authentic is the name. The bruschetta tasted like it was microwaved not grill toasted as the bread was soggy. The crumbed mushrooms were ok. The special of the day was a risotto but the rice was not properly cooked. The penne arrabiata, well the pasta was overcooked and not al dente while the sauce tasted like it came out of a jar. Service was quick and the restaurant was packed on the night. Try it if you want a quick ok meal, but there are other authentic Italian eateries to try

This is real Italy. Uncomplicated food, freshly cooked and using the best ingredients. I travel frequently in Italy and this is just the type of trattoria I search for, and sadly do not always find.

Such a wonderful meal and great people that we made reservations for the next night as well! Truly excellent from appetizer to dessert with friendly, wonderful staff serving.

Amalfi’s food, service, atmosphere and location were all a five star! Our first dinner was so spectacular we returned a second night. It was all delicious. Be sure to try their homemade lemoncello!

We stumbled on this spot on our first night in Glasgow and had a great meal and loved the classic old world atmosphere. Our server/hostess was so wonderful and made us promise to come back on our last night in Glasgow. So three weeks later, we came in for another delicious dinner and our new friend welcomed us like old friends. Will definitely return on our next trip.

The food was horrible the pasta had barley any sauce and was tasteless i had found a small hair in it! the sausage was definitely not Italian sausage either! The pizza tasted like one you would get from the supermarket. Infact a supermarket meal would have been better! When asked for a takeaway box for the pizza they sqaushed this all together and wrapped it in tinfoil! Do not understand why everyone rates this but do not go here unless you want bad food. Go to la vita gordon st instead.

Nice place to try a pizza , traditional taste, variety of dishes. A little bit noisy if you prefer a quiet restaurant, try it in not busy times. High quality food 👍🏼

Went to Amalfi without any expectations but the penne Amalfi I ordered was one of the best Italian food I have ever eaten! Would surely come again. The staff was also very friendly. Would recommend 10/10

Came across the place by accident and as it looked busy I popped in out of curiosity. The spaghetti with Amalfi meatballs was amazing, I think it was one of the best Italian I have ever eaten. Absolutely lovely.

Very lucky to get a table on a busy Saturday night. I've spent time in Italy and I always find it difficult to find good quality, satisfying Italian food in the UK that really hits the spot. The Amalfi is the real deal, our mains of meatballs and spaghetti Bolognese were absolutely delicious, super rich sauces and perfectly cooked pasta. The desserts of tiramisu and chocolate fudge cake were yummy whilst also being surprisingly light and I was really happy to end the meal with some grappa. Very good value given it was part of a set dinner offer and the lady with the glasses was brilliant!

Food was ok but is an interesting Interpretation of "Italian". If I order Saltimbocca I expect a sage on it. Also when running an Italian restaurant the cook should know how to make al dente Spaghetti. The meatballs and sauce were tasty. The insalata caprese was ok. The garlic bread was a joke. The waitress thought we were idiots. We also witnessed her arguing with other guests.
