Arrived late on a Friday night and was greeted with a smile and plenty of banter, despite the fact that they had already worked a long day. Fish and chips was cooked fresh to order and was delicious. Thank you

Albert's has changed many times its now terrible 😢 it's so sad 😞 and 🍟 prices are rather like Eric's very Yarmouth it's not fair 😡 as I have my memories going there in the past the best was when it had a fifties look now I won't bother I either go to Holt Fish Bar or Nelson fries 4 u they are the best they are not the worst that's Eric's they are daylight robbery but Albert's isn't the chippy I once went in that's gone!!!!!

I came to the restaurant by myself and the staff were very welcoming the food was excellent and my whole family were happy with the food. A must have if you visit holt.

On a day trip to Holt stopped by at Albert's Fish & chips for lunch. Great service, provided Gluten free option without a fussy and tasted great. Chips were perfectly cooked. A pleasurable experience all around Thank you so much for add to a great day out! If/when return to Holt we know where to go again ; ) .

Absolutely delicious Take away fish and chips, cooked to order and was most definitely worth the wait quality of the Fish and the Chips did not dissapoint as did the large portion of chips and size of the fish which were both more than plentiful . The Taste the Smell the Batter was everything you could ask and the staff of which there were plenty were all friendly helpful and courteous We will return on our next visit to Norfolk without a doubt

Having been advised that the chip shop opposite, to where we were staying , was excellent quality. I walked in and was greeted by the owner. What first impressed me, was the high standard of cleaning that was obvious. The food I had after been advised by the owner, was superb This is a little gem worth hunting for, and I guarantee, you will not eat better

I decided to go here for my lunch today and had Cod and chips, they were cooked to perfection and soo tasty, I highly recommend you visiting and trying them out for yourself the staff are also lovely!

Havn't been to this particular fish and chip shop for years but we had seen some good reviews and decided to give it a try. We gave our order (pancake veg rolls and chips) and waited to one side. It is obviously very popular and they were very busy. You can eat inside but we took ours back to the car. Despite only having one pancake roll instead of two I have to say the chips were fantastic, crisp outside, fluffy inside, the best I have had (apart from my own) for years. I don't mind waiting for a bit when they are cooked to order so we will be back later this week. Let's put it this way, they give Eric's just down the road a run for their money!!

These guys have made a huge investment and replaced everything in Alberts Fish Bar. There is now a new addition to the menu, Shawarma. I had the shawarma meat tray which comes with salad and chips with a choice of sauces…amazing flavour. My partner had her favourite, cod and chips, again cooked to order and always so tasty. All food here is cooked to order. They do get busy because their food is very good. Expect to wait whilst the cook your food for you. The wait is worth it as they always produce the best fish and chips. I think the last comment was somewhat harsh when you consider all the other positive comments. This team have a passion to deliver the best , and they definitely do that.

Husband went to get fish and chips on the first night of our holiday. After being ignored he was greeted by being asked he he wanted to buy a kebab someone had changed their mind about. Then the lady proceeded to serve the person behind him in the queue. When he pointed out he hadn’t been served she asked if she could continue serving the other person. Then by the time she served my husband they had run out of large cod and so the only thing on offer were small cod - what can only be described as overcooked, tiny, mostly skin in batter. And chips that left a vile coating in your mouth. The worst fish and chips we have ever eaten. Ever.

Simply the best fish & chips I’ve ever had.Freshly cooked, beautiful white flakes of fish.The owner & staff were extremely friendly and helpful.Prices very reasonable in comparison to the other establishments, this was our last supper whilst on holiday, Simplygive them a try you won’t be disappointed.

Nice fish and chips but we did have to wait a while because it was so busy. A good thing! Sadly only a few seats inside so we took our food home. Thanks for having us and for the extra sausage due to our wait!

Visited with my wife yesterday and had eat-in cod and chips. Cooked to order it was absolutely delicious and generous portions. Coupled with friendly attentive service this is the best fish and chip shop in Holt, if not Norfolk. Highly recommended.

Worth driving up from Hampshire. The fish was perfectly cooked and large portions, as with the chips which were just right and not soggy. Definitely worth a visit.

Despite having arrived just after ‘closing’ time the friendly offer to still serve me was more than welcome. The cod and chips were lovely and a generous portion. Under new ownership it seems so give them a go - I’ll certainly be returning !!

Albert's did not disappoint! Stopped off for fish and chips during our visit in Holt. Cooked fresh to order and tasted delicious, didn't leave with that horrible stodgy feeling you can get after having fish and chips. Cod, chips and mushy peas were beautiful.

This used to be the best hippie in Holt when there were only 2 and a half chippies.They take phone orders and everything is cooked fresh by the never smiling fryer. Its pretty much run by local people for local people so long may it continue. You will be charged for a card bag and every trivial extra they can mug you for so be warned.

We found this by accident at last year's 1940s event, were pleased and tried again this year and it's definitely to be recommended. Although being very small, having only three tables, it is comfortable and the service friendly and excellent. When I queried the size of the "tiddler" for fillet I was shown the actual piece to be cooked, which was plenty big enough for me. My husband had the pensioners meal, which was almost too big and both meals were excellent, some of the best fish and chips I've had. The batter was light and crisp, the fish well cooked and the chips just the right crispiness,. A notice said that new potatoes were being used but I had to check as they were so crisp and not the usual soggy effort with new potatoes. Altogether very good. Try it.

From our service to Greasy chips. Not good. Prices were somewhat fair but very unfair for what we received. Greasy and stodgy. Will not be going back.

I've used Alberts from time to time over the years and under the new owners the quality is as good as always. We popped in on Saturday and had Haddock and chips for me and the wife and they did a small tail end of Cod for Grandma. We sat in the cosy shop and ate in. The fish was cooked to order and came with batter crispy all through and fish cooked perfectly. The chips were excellent, having been in a few disappointing chippies over the years I thought this deserves some praise. Don't know what chippie the reviewer saying avoid was in, but it could not have been this one.

This little fish and chip bar is the star of Holt. The last owner was a traditional fish fryer and he taught the new owner how to keepthe punters happy! There are 3 fish and chip shops in Holt with another on the horizon! Alberts is Number One, the fish is frsh, fried perfectly and reasonable priced! You can get all the bits and peases from Mushy peas to Wallies, Pies, Hamburgers etc etc. There is a snag though! Due to there exquisite service and food it is advisable to phone and arrange a pivck up time, they are known to supply many 30-40 packages to some parks! Beware, but hone and the time they give you is +/- 5 mins!

I think the previous review must have been into the wrong fish and chip shop as the prices are about the national average but the fish portions area much larger than we get at home. We visited Alberts twice and every time our fish and chips were cooked to order and were excellent and the service was excellent as well. We will be certainly returning well done

Worst chippy around, extortionate prices & small portions! I guess that’s why it’s in holt! Fish was greasy & Chips soggy.

We needed a quick family supper and Alberts came highly recommended. What a gem! The fish and chips were freshly cooked while we waited and were absolutely delicious when eaten back in our holiday cottage. Only one of us opted for mushy pease, but she reported these were well up to standards. All in all, a takeaway that we can highly recommend.

Good fish and chips take away and a couple of tables to sit in and eat-which we did. Good quality fish, great tasting chips & (yes this is very very personal) a GREAT mug of tea. Possibly the best tea I’ve ever had out? (Ok I like my tea with fish and chips to be builders and this was perfect). Friendly and helpful and the young guy that brought the tea and food out had a great warm smile too.

I used to love Albert's when Barry Woods ran it now however its too expensive under new ownership and you don't get much! Now with a Chippie opening in the former Glo Glo salon on Fish Hill and I've been to there great Chippie in Thornham so I welcome Eric's Fish and Chips to the town and I won't go to Albert's again!!

As local residents we use most of the outlets in Holt. All the Fish and Chip shops here are good but Alberts is exceptional. Cooked to order so no tired or soggy produce, we normally takeaway. Exceptional fish (far better than Leicestershire....), superbly cooked, nice people, very efficient. Totally recommended.

Every time I get my fish and chips there they are cooked to perfection, very tasty lovely chips and the portion size is just right ,service is very prompt.

Walking past at lunchtime the smell of frying fish and chips from the shop enticed us in for a bag of chips, served very cheerily despite the small order. Cooked freshly, piping hot, quite thinly cut and very crisp chips.

Fish and Chips cooked to order, the mark of a quality F & C shop. The service is excellent and I cannot imagine going anywhere else despite having to transport it four miles back to my holiday cottage.

The yard stick for great fish and chips for Wirralians is Parkgate (in my opinion) and Alberts comes very close to reaching it. Delicious batter, great chips and everything is prepared fresh on the premises - meaning you do have to wait a little longer than some places. Regardless, it's worth the wait.

A delightful traditional chippy with friendly staff, who made us feel most welcome. The smell outside was amazing, giving a hint of what lay in store. Cooked to order, our fish & chips were worth the wait - and it was inexpensive. The portion was just right - not too large but far from small. The curry sauce was tasty too. We also enjoyed a packet of scraps. Highly recommended! :)

As a family, we don't get to chippies much because 2 of us need to eat gluten-free, so it's great to see a chippy with a gluten free choice. The chips are cooked in a separate fryer, there's a gluten free sausage and several choices of fish that can be cooked without batter.

No, not really. Perhaps spoilt in Leicestershire but regularly get excellent freshly cooked fish n chips from several places all of whom keep cooking during busy times so turn over far more stock. It was painful watching two fish being cooked at a time and a wait of 20 mins from order (not 10) was tedious. The cook/ proprietor looks stressed and is constantly busy whilst his four staff stand around most of the time. It was busy on the Friday night I was there but not at the counter, everyone was standing or sitting waiting! Perhaps be a little bit more like French’s in Wells

I called in for 4 portions of cod and chips. There were freshly fried and the chips were cooked just right to my taste. All nice and hot and non greasy. Well worth a visit as best in this area

We had fish and chips from here just before Christmas last year and I am sorry to say they were average at best. There was a large party of us and we had to pre order as we were wanting them on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm. My husband used to work in a chippy and he said immediately that they were reheated from lunch time, I could easily tell that too. My poor little 2 year old had a battered sausage that was tough and chewy and the chips overall were scrappy and rubbery. This place used to be owned by a couple who gave it their all but now its standards have slipped. So sad!!

We got takeaway cod & chips on a recent stay in Holt. We had to wait for fish to be cooked but it was worth it. The batter on the fish was very light & crispy, chips were not at all greasy & everything was looking very & hot.

We visited Albert's at lunchtime today. We were immediately welcomed by our 'server'. Our order was taken quickly and our fish was cooked from fresh. Ten minutes later we tucked into large plates of excellent fish and chips. Cooked on beef dripping, the fish was just right; our chips were crisp and plentiful and the mushy peas were the real thing. With two mugs of tea added it was a hearty meal of very good quality and at a reasonable price - just as we remembered f and c in the good old days. Lucky Holt.

I have just visited Alberts Fish Bar for Cod & Chips. The cod batter was, in my view, just about perfect as was lovely and crispy with very white cod inside. The chips were also just right. Lots of places serve them soggy bot not here. Firm, crispy and well cooked.

I had Rock and chips with a gherkin , the fish was perfect and the chips where spot on Albert was a true gent

Fish and chips exactly how it should be .Perfect batter , Replacing the horrid thick yellow puss like batter from before(under a different owner). Chips cooked to perfection. You have to wait as the food is cooked to order. But well worth the wait. The best in North Norfolk by a country mile.

I have been buying my fish and chips here for over 10 years and it has always been excellent. There are new owners now, and if this week's experience is a guide, it's even better!
