Albany in Inverclyde

Was in today for an afternoon tea...lovely finger sandwiches with various fillings...2 small scone with cream and jam(1 was a little hard but eatable) then came a tasty selection of petite cakes all washed down with a pot of tea. Great value for £12.50 pp However the only fault with our experience (which is major for us) it was absolutely freezing and when surveying the rest of the room 7 out of 10 tables were actually sitting with their coats on too....so if your going to eat out there any time soon please wrap up warmly.

Had a lovely brunch today Sunday 25 th I had fish and chips. Fish was lovely and white and the batter nice and light My husband had gluten free pasta and chicken with sun dried tomatoes

BOYCOTT THE ALBANY Family are planning an 80th party for my nana and decided to book the Albany way in advance in November for the end of this month. To everyone's shock the Albany made the decision to double book a 21st party but in their decision placed the 21st party in the function room ( that we booked for my nana) and decided to put us up the stairs in the restaurant that has no room for anything, all without asking permission or even letting anyone know that's what they did! On top of that, she lied to my sister and me about phoning my aunt to let her know about the change. My aunt had no idea that anything had been changed. How arrogant and unprofessional do you have to be to do that to your paying customers?! I thought the whole point in a deposit was to secure the hall that you book 🤔 When confronted with this matter the events manager of the Albany only had that " it wasn't her problem" to say. RUDE MUCH!!😡 This place is unprofessional and their attitude towards paying customers is disgusting. I advise anyone planning to book any sort of event to steer well away from the Albany as they clearly can't be trusted to secure your special day, whatever it may be.

Visited on Christmas day for a family dinner. We were a group of seven including a child. Angela had arranged a table for us when we booked. It was spacious with plenty room around us. Meal was lovely with a good set of choices pre booked. Staff were fantastic, friendly and efficient especially in the circumstances with a sitting all starting at once. All in all a great experience was had by us all. Thanks to all the team who were on duty.

Great room for having a party. The staff were excellent. Reasonably priced drinks. Definitely recommend. We ordered the hot food for 60 people with 2 gluten free options, they brought these separately to the table which was perfect. The food was gorgeous.

First time being here. Went here today for dinner with bf. We had a 3 course meal. The waitress was so cute and sweet. Didn’t get her name. I got the melon sorbet for starter as did bf. I had the rest of chicken for main and bf beef sausage - which looked great btw with huge puff pastry. My chicken could have maybe been biggar or came with a second breast lol. For dessert I got Eton Mess which was a lot of fruit in whipped cream. Bf got choc fudge as usual. I’ve never had fruit for starter and dessert so that was a first. But it was all good. It was just a lovely place, great food and defo affordable! Bf even said the dessert was probs just as good as in The Buttery, Glasgow which was mega expensive 💶 but to have just as gd a meal here which is even more affordable is great! So we’re definitely going bk as we’ve decided we’re going to this comedy show there which is on 31st March there 😁. Definitely recommend here 👍 photos are of our desserts 🤤

Fabulous food, excellent service and the entertainment was first class

Pros - Decent food, nice atmosphere and pleasant hard working staff. Cons - the place wasn't too busy and the two serving staff were run off their feet. I don't know what they get paid but it isn't enough for the job they do.

I would highly recommend Angela and her team. My family and I used their services after both our parents' funerals in Nov and Dec this year. As it can sometimes be difficult to predict numbers, an option available is to have a few 'just in case tables' on standby (you will only be charged for the catering of these if used). The food/drink package we chose was perfectly presented, and both the serving staff and venue were lovely.

Fantastic family owned Greenock restaurant. Came for a family celebration. Enjoyed an excellent meal. Taken care of by friendly and hard working staff on a Saturday night. Everyone had a great time. It had been a while since visited, won't leave it so long next time!

Fantastic cafe with great lunch options. Highly recommend the chicken and bacon club toasted sandwich. Home made lentil and bacon soup was also delicious. Service was friendly, laid back but also efficient. 10/10!

Shocking service. Waited 10 minutes, had to ask for a menu, no offer of drinks, ordered food, my companion was served their main meal & desert at the same time, I waited 5 more minutes for my main, never got cutlery, had to ask for it, no offer of condiments, plate had chip out of it, disgusting! Food was nice. Very disappointed

I booked this place for a function following my Mother's cremation. I booked for 80 people but 100 showed up. The staff put on 2 extra tables but assured me that we wouldn't be charged since they were only using the extra food that had been prepared in advance. Guess what? We were charged for 2 extra tables. Way to go guys; taking advantage of people in their grief!

10 out of 10 for the bacon and cheese omelette

2 staff members were fantastic.

First time back to The Albany this year and first most can I say I felt really safe. All the staff are wearing masks, hand gel is encouraged and distance between tables ideal. Track and trace system is in place and with all the COVID rules, The Albany still maintains a relaxing and comfortable environment.The food is fantastic, varied menu, promptly served and hot,All in all, it’s sound!Can’t wait to come back !

Friendly staff always great food

Delicious Christmas Menu, turkey very tender and tasty. Portions are average, not small not huge, just right and high quality ingredients. I was full after 2 courses, left very satisfied. There is a lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, stunning decor and a real festive feel. Beautiful Christmas lunch. Thankyou. Merry Christmas 🎄

Fantastic, we had our best vegan meal eating out that we have ever had! All I would suggest if you are going to have vegan options, have an option for each course.

We were given a gift of an afternoon tea and went with family. The choice of sandwiches and cakes were tasty and the service was first class.

Food was vile, just paid £15 for a hummus wrap with no hummus in it, got offered free drinks because of it, we ordered tap water, so thanks for not charging us for tap water. Waitress was dismissive, didn’t care.Can’t believe I walked away giving you money for nothing there. 0/10 Disgrace of a venue

Best covid arrangements seen so far. Spotless, tables spread out and all staff wear masks. Felt so safe and comfortable. All staff lovely. Food was delicious.

Had lunch today and was very impressed. All was in place to meet the new guidelines (hand sanitisor on arrival, took all our details for track and trace ect) . Staff were very friendly, menu was great and the food was excellent. I will definitely be returning soon and would have no problem recommending to others. Thank you Albany x x

This was the perfect choice for a pre theatre meal. There is a really good set menu but I had a lovely steak sandwich from the main menu then was too full for pudding. Good selection of drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful.Nice venue too.

Held my mother in laws 60th party this month in the Albany. The hall was decorated nice and when asked for more chairs it was done without a hassle. The staff were brilliant. Overall the night was brilliant.

Well been here so many times and loved it ... but tonight what a let down ... Cant have anything bit the pre theatre.. which didn't suit my diet .The beef and sausage pie was lacking the actual beef .Waitress really wasn't concerned or interested in my comments ...Given the bill without asking is we were actually finished and then told.order anything else at the bar ..Shame it used to be such a good place , but so so bad

Came here for an engagement party..hall was rather small nicely done .but no one could get up and dance to the music because of the tables are so big...nice set up for the party ..hall was really cold we had keep our coats on for wee while...

Twice now planned to go for a drink after work on a Saturday night at 10:30pm and it was closed. Google says 12am.

I have visited the Albany on three or four occasions. Nice atmosphere and relaxed environment. I had the Christmas Menu with Pate, Turkey & Christmas pudding. I could not fault it with service and food hitting the mark. Will certainly be back.

A lovely relaxing atmosphere and really lovely set Christmas Menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal selections so no complaints for our group at all.

This restaurant is the best in greenock you do pay slightly more than others but its worth it, beautifully clean, great customer service friendly and helpful great choices and variety on menu and to top it all u can book a show to see the entertainment shows are top quality.

First of all I wish to thank Beth for her friendly manner & efficiency which was fantastic.

We attended the restaurant due to a visit for friends retirement meal. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Starters were served and consumed. Main course for four of us was the choice of two types of the fish dish. A small portion or big portion. We took the small portion due to having starters. When it arrived we were shocked with the size of the portions, no bigger than the palm of your hand at the costly price of approximately £8.50 not value for money.

We took my mum and dad here for lunch to commemorate the fact that on 7 October 1957 they were married here when the building was Orangefield Baptist Church.

We had an excellent night out eating at the Albany at the weekend. Our drinks order was for pink gins as made with bitters, the traditional way, not the Gordon''s Pink Gin you can buy by the bottle. The waitress listened patiently and attended to our request. The menu as always at the Albany is eclectic with plenty of choice for our vegetarian friend. Wines are reasonably priced. All in all a lovely evening with good service and an enjoyable selection of food and drink. .

My family and I attended the Albany recently for dinner. Plenty of options to choose from off the menu. Served quickly with drinks. Not to long of a wait for main meals. Food lovely. Didn't feel rushed to leave like you are in some restaurants. Would highly recommended.

The staff here make you feel welcome from the minute you arrive .Friendly and helpfully.prices for food which is delicious are reasonable. There is something for every one on the menu. Nice large seating area not too cramped .also a function suite available to hire for wedding or other social events

Lovely food and nice pub. Visited this as had read reviews on TripAdvisor. Definitely worth a visit - building is nice looking from outside and lovely on the inside. We had lunch - 3 egg omelettes. Very tasty and filling. Cooked fresh and service was excellent - good pint to accompany lunch too. Looks like they have lots going on - not just pub food and drinks. Cinema matinee shows with a difference etc.

The Skids were totally amazing on Friday night (19th July) Jobson nailed every song and had us all on our feet and jumping about like we were 16 again!! Gawd my legs paid for it the next day

We regularly visit here as a family for food. The food is very good quality at very good prices. One of the best places in Greenock to go for food, can accommodate large groups if pre-booked.

We have visited the albany before for evening food and even taken in a show . Top notch !! Today we arrived for breakfast ..100% fresh and the best black pudding in the town!! I had the omelette which was amazing!! As always the girls on shift where spot on :)

This restaurant is in a converted church and so has a unique look, the internal decor is nicely done as well. It has a friendly atmosphere and the service was excellent. We all enjoyed everything we ordered. All ingredients were really fresh and everything was perfectly cooked. Just be aware, if you are having more than one course, the portions are quite generous. I would particularly recommend their cullen skink.

Called in for early Sunday dinner and were lucky enough to get a table as we hadn’t booked. The place was busy with a few celebration parties going on but the service was excellent. All the staff we spoke to were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The menu was varied and we had no problem making our choices. The steak and sausage pie was to die for and the battered fish was delicious. The desserts we had were divine. We all agreed we’d make a point of dining there once a month. The prices were very reasonable too.

We visited the Greenock Cemetery and this restaurant was right across the street. It is a small restaurant but very cozy inside. I had a nice white wine but it came from a can. Not my preference for wine. Service was just right. The servers were pleasant and did not rush out. I had a chicken and noodle dusk that was delicious. My husband had a vegetarian dish that was excellent also. I would recommend this restaurant. We walked to it from our cruise ship.

Went here for a meal and the show the meal was nice enough but could not get a cocktail with our meal as they said they were to busy so they advertise cocktails on there drinks list but when asked what would you like to drink and you say they say sorry cant get one till after the show would not hurry back

the food in here is amazing, meat so tender it slips off the fork and in to the mouth, fish done to a perfect crispy batter.

Another fabulous evening of entertainment. Had pre theatre meal for four on Saturday evening 4/5/18 prior to the Comedy festival. Great menu and tasty food beautifully served. Well done yet again Albany.

Visited the Albany twice recently. Firstly we had a leisurely lunch here with friends. All food was great as was the service and atmosphere. The second visit was for a quick coffee and bacon roll. Service was prompt and the rolls delicious!

We live a 10 minute walk away so have popped in for a Sunday brunch on a couple of occasions. Always enjoy the food and the décor in the bar area.

The food was excellent. As a party of around 20 we had many different meals with no negative comments from anyone. The service was first class, all the food was out at the same time, so well done to the chef and his staff. The price which included several drinks including cocktails was very reasonable. I was there with my family to celebrate my 60th birthday and the staff could not have treated us any better. Well done to all of the team and thanks for helping us have a first class experience.
